Question: There is a very famous story that is possibly from the oral Torah about when there was no rain and people came to a disciple of a great sage and asked him to pray for rain. He prayed for a day, two days, and three days, and there was no rain. Then they went to the sage. The sage prayed, and it immediately began to rain.

They said, “Now we see who the real sage is: you, not him.” The sage answered: “No, on the contrary. This disciple of mine is great because the Creator wants to stay connected with him. And with me: “Do you want? Please, receive.””

The question arises that when everyone is waiting for an instant response from the Creator, maybe it is precisely the fact that He does not answer means that He is taking care of this person?

Answer: We do not know. Nothing can be clear here. We just have to do what we have to do. And what we get, we must understand that this is exactly what we should get.

Question: Is the formula pray and immediately receive an answer or pray and the answer comes in a year comprehensible?

Comment: There is a prayer for rain that is said in the autumn after the Sukkot holiday; great importance is attributed to it. This request for rain is included in many other prayers.

The prayer begins, “And answer us, Who created the world with the property of mercy.” Can you explain this first sentence?

Answer: Things that can harm our life that should be aimed at rapprochement with the Creator. Everything that moves us away from rapprochement with the Creator is evil and harmful.

Question: Further it reads: “And give him hope and favorable completion.” What should hope be like?

Answer: So that everything will be good for us, for people, for His creations.

Question: Is the whole world included again here?

Answer: The whole world, absolutely.

Question: That is, you think that here all the time has been laid down before for the world?

Answer: Man’s relation to the whole world.

And toward the end, it suddenly talks about rain. It is clear that rain is good for the earth and so on. What is meant by the word “rain”? What does it mean for a man?

Answer: The word “rain” means the basis, the root, the beginning of all corporeal life. Because practically rain is a blessing that descends from heaven to earth. And it embodies the benevolent attitude of the Creator to His creations.

Question: It is said “bringing life” and immediately added, “and peace.”Life is more or less clear—it gives life. And when it is said “peace,” what is that about?

Answer: This refers not only to rain as water, H₂O, but also to goodness, to the correct attitude of the Creator to His creations with which He fills them.

Answer: Rain is a great, good blessing, spirituality that descends from above and manifests itself in our corporeal world in the form of rain, in the form of water descending from above.

Question: When there is some kind of suffering, trial, or problem that comes from the Creator, I realize there is a very strong need for Him, which is a trigger for prayer and connection with Him and with the group.

But when there are no sufferings and problems, it is very difficult to build a request on the same level. Why does this happen? What do we need to do so that we, ourselves, without suffering, but rather in the spiritual work in the group, can build the same Hisaron (deficiency)?

Answer: It is impossible to do this without suffering. Suffering is an integral part of the feeling in the Kli (vessel), it is its filling. Without suffering, we could not orientate ourselves in any way, neither toward the Creator nor against Him.

Comment: I remember moments when there were some difficulties and then there was a great Hisaron, great desire. But when the Creator “lets go” a little, then we are not able to feel the same strong desire.

My Response: That is right. Therefore, we cannot move forward without sufferings. But we must not exalt them. We just need to understand that without them we do not feel our real Kli.

Question: But I cannot ask the Creator to give me sufferings again, can I?

Answer: No, do not do that! You can replace them with love.

Question: How can you build love on the same level?

Question: You said, “Either you give thanks, or you give the Creator a place to work.” If a person has been awarded with a state of gratitude, how can one give a place to the Creator?

Answer: When you unite in one mutual desire to bestow, you open a place for the Creator.

Question: And how do Kabbalists give a place for the Creator to be revealed between them? How do they feel His manifestation in the group?

Answer: They invite Him, attract Him, force Him, and beg Him; they try in every possible way to attract the Creator to the group. And then they see the result; by connecting with each other, they form a common desire in which the Creator manifests Himself.

A common desire in the ten arises when you are striving for the same goal. You try to get closer to each other, and if you succeed, then you move on to connection of one ten to another, and so on. As a result, you should feel the general force that fills you, surrounds you, embraces you. This will be the beginning of the manifestation of the Creator.

Question: How can a desire be shared if each friend has his own taste, his own shade of this desire, feeling, and understanding?

Answer: You will feel that it is common because to this extent the Creator clothes in you. And He is one.

Question: Will we all feel together that the Creator clothes in us?

Answer: Not only all together in the ten, but all eight billion in the world. What is the difference?

Question: How can we make each of our actions precisely so that we guide ourselves correctly?

Question: There is a parable about a fisherman transporting a person by boat. The passenger urged the fisherman: “Hurry up, I’m late for work!” Then the man spotted that on one oar was written “pray” and on the other “work.” “What is this for?” he asked.

“To remember,” replied the fisherman, ” so as not to forget that you must pray and work.”

“It is clear to everyone that everyone needs to work. But praying is not necessary. Why waste time on prayer?”

“It’s not necessary, it’s not necessary,” the fisherman replied, pulled the oar out of the water with the inscription “pray” and began to row with one oar. The boat spun on the spot.

What do you think about the combination of working and praying?

Answer: This is correct because not everything is in your hands, so there is a place for prayer.

Question: So I have to know, while working, that the Creator will finish for me? Is this the constant movement that has to happen? Is this the right advancement?

Answer: Yes.

Question: You said that the Creator and I will be in the same connection as like talking to a person. How can such communication be imagined in the center of the ten where we unite? How does our interaction with this center with this connection happen?
