A Critical Mass Will Influence the Course of History

963.4Question: In the article “The Last Generation,” Baal HaSulam writes that if the majority of people accept the idea that the whole world is one family, they will immediately join communistic altruism. What about the minority?

Answer: First ideas get intermixed, properties are clarified, and only then is a decision made on what should be done. People will start to adopt certain norms of behavior or laws.

That is, there will be not just the majority among people, but a critical mass will be formed in the nation that will influence the course of history.

The Response of the Integral System

75.01On the negative side, if a part of the nation does not want to keep the Arvut, but to wallow in self-love, they cause the rest of the nation to remain immersed in their filth and lowliness without finding a way out of their filth. Baal HaSulam, Article “The Arvut [Mutual Guarantee]” .

We exist with one another in integral connection, and it creates both positive and negative problems.

The positive component is that we help one another and complement one another. The negative one is that if someone lacks something in the integral group, then everyone suffers.

Therefore, the fact that nature made us integrally connected is good and bad. It is good in the sense that each of us adds to the common Kli, while the bad thing is that when we do not give, we steal from this Kli.

One has to understand that the integral spiritual Kli is very sensitive and reacts to changes of everyone whether positive or negative.

What Are We Responsible For?

The Goal of the Entire Humanity

229The group that Abraham organized in ancient Babylon was founded on the single principle that everyone was ready to achieve the state where he can be connected with another and to “love his neighbor as himself.”  In the Torah and other sources this is noted as the most important commandment.

In general, it should be a commandment for all of humanity, but we see that people of that time could not implement it. Today we are facing this question once again.

Therefore, as Kabbalists have said, we exist in the state of the last generation that must bring this idea to life. We have all the means to do that. The same system that Abraham attained some time ago is becoming revealed for the entire humanity, and we have to realize this idea.

The essence of this system is that we have once again to gather into one single whole through our thoughts and feelings rather than with our bodies. The corporeal world has nothing to do with this. The main thing is the person’s aspiration that directs him or her toward becoming closer with others. Only in this case will we come to the state of loving the other as yourself.

As soon as we reach the smallest level, the minimal connection between us, then right away we will begin to sense the upper world through it, a different state, a different nature.

Our nature is felt in five corporeal senses, but in addition, we will also start sensing the upper nature through the connection between us. To the extent we are able to connect between us, we will experience a completely different universe, different world, and different nature that is built on the property of bestowal rather than the property of receiving.

Let’s say our earthy nature is considered as “minus” because it is constantly attracting others in a negative way, while the upper, spiritual nature is built on the principle of bestowal, “plus,” and we will begin to feel it.

The sensation of the positive nature is completely unlike what we see today. After all, we will start sensing the upper forces, life beyond the boundaries of time, space, and movement. We will start sensing eternal states.

Our correct use of egoism, meaning our ascent above it, will bring us to this state.

Shattering No Longer Threatens Us

610.2Question: When working on a mutual guarantee, how can one avoid approaching the precipice to which Rabbi Akiva’s disciples approached?

Answer: The question is valid, but don’t worry, you won’t get any closer to it.

The spiritual system works according to a specific plan, according to which the construction and destruction of the First Temple should have occurred. The First Temple is a spiritual level called Mochin de Haya.

Then the descent from this level began with the destruction of the First Temple. The people of Israel remained in this state until the construction of the Second Temple (Mochin de Neshama). All this was planned and clear from the initial state when Abraham’s group was forming in Ancient Babylon. They had to go through this.

Our generation has only one task: to rise to the third state, the Third Temple (Mochin de Yechida), when the light of the level of Yechida fills the final corrected creation to realize the connection between all souls.

Let us hope we can achieve this. At least we have the opportunity.

Question: Why can’t we implement this practically, like say with building a kibbutz?

Answer: We do not have such a spiritual opportunity. The point is not to build some buildings. We should not do this. We do not need to create, destroy, or rebuild anything in this world. We need to rebuild ourselves, rebuild our relationship, and based on this everything will change.

Bestow to the Friends

934You therefore see that all of Israel are responsible for one another, both on the positive side and on the negative side. On the positive side, if they keep the Arvut to the point that each one cares and satisfies the needs of his friends, they can fully observe the Torah and Mitzvot [commandments], meaning to bring contentment to their Maker (Baal HaSulam, “The Arvut [Mutual Guarantee]”).

The law of complete interconnection in the integral system obliges us to receive from everyone and to bestow to everyone. Integral dependence on both reception and bestowal applies to each of us. We evoke the Creator’s pleasure with these actions, which we feel in the light He immediately fills us with.

Question: What does bestowing to friends mean?

Answer: Bestowal is helping friends to support them within the ten in an integral connection with everyone. I must take care of this, embrace them like the mother of small children, and hold them together so that in any condition they connect.

Question: How do I know that I am fulfilling the desire of the Creator and not the fantasies of my egoism?

Answer: To do this, first of all, you must fulfill not your desires, but the desires of others. Secondly, you must only do what a friend needs to support him in the group. That is all.

The Most Relevant Question

202.0All of Israel became responsible for one another. Because the Torah was not given to them before each and every one from Israel was asked if he agreed to take upon himself the Mitzva [commandment] of loving others in the full measure expressed in the words “Love your friend as yourself” (Baal HaSulam, Article “The Arvut [Mutual Guarantee]”).

Question: What does it mean “each one was asked”? Or is this an inappropriate question for us?

Answer: This question is always within you, in your soul. Every day you must answer it: Are you ready to move forward?

With this question, a person progresses: “Who am I? For what purpose am I here? Why? What goal am I heading to? With what means? What exactly must I do? What is the essence of each of my steps?” This is what organizes a person in the movement toward the quality of giving, toward the spiritual quality.

For us, the most important thing is to acquire the first spiritual quality. This means that we will begin to perceive the spiritual world.

Correction within the Framework of the Ten

938.03Question: We are talking about the fact that I must clarify the desire to bestow within myself. If it is completely corrected, can we come to mutual guarantee (Arvut)?

Answer: Yes and no. You can come to mutual guarantee in the ten.

Question: Must the general desire be corrected in the ten?

Answer: Not 100%, but at the levels you are at.

The general Kli is millions, billions of people. And we are talking about fulfilling the guarantee condition in the ten. The ten itself enters spirituality and rises through spiritual levels, 125 steps. At each level there is conception (Ibur), nurturing (Yenika), and maturation (Mochin); that is, more and more levels.

It is so precisely graded that at every moment, by gathering together repeatedly, you can rise and feel how you are rising. As you draw closer, a qualitatively new spiritual state arises in you—the Kli. In it, you feel the increasing revelation of the Creator.

929Consequently, as long as the individual is troubled with concerns for himself, he is unfit to begin observing the Mitzva “Love your friend as yourself.”

The spiritual structure is perfect. It cannot be that one part of it works and another does not because the integral inclusion of everyone in everyone determines the conditions that are both necessary and sufficient for everyone to be completely corrected. That means that each person must feel their inclusion in absolutely everyone and everyone in them.

Apart from the small particle Malchut, which is within me, everything else is from everyone else. Only one point of Malchut within me is mine. Therefore, it can only work to unite everyone within me. Your point of Malchut is intended only to unite everyone within you. And so on.

The integral system presupposes a simple combination of its parts where each part consists of only one point, which annuls itself and works entirely for the sake of bestowal. And what does it give? That which it receives from the Creator. And to whom does it give it? It gives it to all those points within it from all the other parts. It is all simple.

In principle, no person has anything except what they receive from the Creator and what they give to others. And who are they? Nobody, a zero. But they make themselves this way; they receive everything from the Creator on one side and give it all to others on the other while themselves are a conduit from the Creator to the others. That is the work of each element of the integral system. That is what we must achieve.

And then there is nothing to fear, think about, or discuss. One must simply be a transitional element from one to the others—from the Creator to the creations and from the creations to the Creator. That is the best state where everyone is free and perfect!

In this state, there is everything from all creation—one attains a complete sense of the Creator, the entire world, and all souls within themselves. On one hand they are equal to Adam, the collective soul; on the other hand they are within the filling of this soul. Thus, everyone includes both creation and the Creator within ourselves, even though we are merely one point.

Mutual Guarantee and Support

943Question: Can we reach mutual guarantee (Arvut) before or after impregnation (Ibur)?

Answer: Arvut is a necessary condition for the conception of the embryo but specifically in conditions in which we currently find ourselves.

At every moment we are in different states and we must work on nullifying ourselves before our friends and connecting with others in mutual support. This state is called mutual guarantee (Arvut), meaning mutual guarantee and mutual support.

Can Women Be in Mutual Guarantee?

252Question: Can women enter into mutual guarantee (Arvut)?

Answer: Of course they can. What is the problem? If the men enter, then you will enter. You must fully help men because the male part determines, and the female part gives its pressure—Aviut. Without proper interaction between us, we will not be able to achieve this.

Mutual guarantee is the birth of a spiritual state. It comes only from the correct correspondence of the male and female parts in the Kli.
