“The Task Facing Humanity” (Linkedin)

My new article on Linkedin “The Task Facing Humanity”

There are countless tasks facing humanity: We have to offset our negative influence on the climate, make sure everyone has clean drinking water, minimal healthcare, and staple foods. We also have to tend to the millions, if not billions of oppressed people around the world, to the growing inequality between the haves and the have nots, to the depression of so many people who seem to have everything but can’t find satisfaction in life, and so on and so forth. How can we deal with all those problems? The short answer is “We can’t!” The (slightly) longer answer is “We can’t because we’re dealing with the problems separately instead of looking for their common root. If we dealt with this, we would solve them all, and quickly.”

So far, I have not seen anyone seriously looking for the root cause behind everything that’s going on. Can it be that all our problems, social, emotional, environmental, and political, have nothing in common? That is, the only thing that is obviously common to them is man, but what is it about man that’s causing these problems? Are different things about us causing the different problems, or are they stemming from one root flaw?

From everything I’ve learned in science and in Kabbalah, everything is connected. Cybernetics, the field of science that I studied, teaches how to deal with systems. It relates to everything as a system whose parts are interrelated and interdependent. The wisdom of Kabbalah says exactly the same. The natural conclusion should therefore be that the problem is with the system we are living in, the system that connects us all.

In other words, if we fix the connections among the parts in the system, the system will function well, achieve balance, or homeostasis, to use a more scientific language, and our lives will run smoothly. The root cause of our problems, therefore, is not with each part individually, but with the connections among them.

Currently, these connections are negative. This means that the parts are striving to disconnect from the system or take over the system. If you take our brain as an example, it would be as if neuron in our brain tried to disconnect from all the others or, alternatively, to dominate them. Would such a brain be functional?

Humanity is like the brain of the world we live in. Yet, we are as dysfunctional as the brain in the example I just gave; this is why our planet and our lives are looking so dismal.

If we want to change the world we live in, to change our society, and to change our own future from the miserable one that’s currently in store for us, to the glorious future we can have, we have to mend our connections. And since it is our connections that we need to fix, we can only do this together, through a mutual decision to change. The greater the number of people who understand the gravity of the problem of our negative connections, the more we will all want to change it. And the more we want to change our connections, the easier it will be to achieve.

Therefore, there are two stages in the healing process: 1. Awareness, 2. Healing. Currently, not enough people are aware of the singular cause of our multiple problems. This is why our main task at the moment is to spread the word that by transforming our connections from negative to positive, we will change the world and change our lives. Once enough people realize this, stage 2 will begin, and it will be much easier and quicker than stage 1.

“Is GDP An Accurate Gauge Of An Individual Citizen’s Happiness?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: “Is GDP an accurate gauge of an individual citizen’s happiness?“

There are several examples of countries that have a high GDP and a low level of people’s happiness, which show quite clearly that GDP is not an accurate gauge for people’s happiness.

Why is it the case? It is because people are made to enter a framework where they feel constrained, unhappy, and forced to task like slaves, and accordingly, their happiness levels are low. They lie to themselves, thinking that they are happy, but have no idea what happiness is.

Happiness does not mean working most of the time. Rather, happiness is an inner state that is inseparable from our connection with society and nature—a state of harmonious connection between everybody and everything. Therefore, GDP is far from being an accurate indicator of happiness.

If we wish to increase our happiness, then we would be wise to revise the way we currently think we make ourselves happy, and start focusing on how we can discover true happiness through achieving harmonious connection with each other in society and with nature.

The Twentieth Century—A Turn To Drastic Changes

254.02Question: What was special during the time of Baal HaSulam that he was the first to feel a sharp internal need to disseminate the wisdom of Kabbalah, even though he lived about a hundred years ago?

Answer: The world became more egoistic and a revolution led to drastic changes technologically, culturally, and in general. The regimes in many countries changed, farmers began to move to the big cities, and the world became more concentrated and more demanding.

It was therefore possible to begin the dissemination of the wisdom of Kabbalah in a practical manner. People began to ask, “What is the meaning of life?” And not just living like a cow that grazes in the field.

They chose to connect and to join the world, culture, and technology. There were cars, airplanes, and communication between people. Humanity became totally different. The twentieth century developed us like no other century before it, and this is the reason that the wisdom of Kabbalah was revealed.

Humanity Is One Single Soul

933Question: What is the entrance to the land of Israel within us?

Answer: Man is the common creation, Adam. We are all part of his soul. This is a collective spiritual image, which in itself does not consist of separate beings as we humans usually see ourselves.

It represents the totality of all our properties, especially spiritual ones. In principle, everything that is in each of us constitutes, so to speak, a spiritual figure called “Adam.”

Naturally, from generation to generation, all parts of this figure, or rather its individual properties, gradually undergo their corrections in the similarity to the Creator.

And when this similarity is fully completed, then the state of complete correction will come and the Creator will appear and fill the image of Adam, our common soul, which will gather in this state, starting from our world, from the earthly level, to the highest one, including all worlds.

This soul will stand in all worlds, but not in the corporeal sense. It will include the filling of all worlds, meaning it will come to the state of complete correction (Gmar Tikkun).

We are currently starting to enter the last part of this state. Therefore, our generation is called the last generation, which corrects the shattering of the common soul that occurred before us and that underlies our existence as individuals.

We must internally unite with each other as one man with one heart, as many billions of souls into one soul, into one spiritual structure.

Why Do We Need The Torah?

275Question: At what point do we begin to pass the spiritual instruction, the Torah, through ourselves ?

Answer: The Torah is the system of correct interaction of all parts of creation (inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human) and brings them to a certain mutual connection. That is, the Torah is the implementation of the correction of the system of interaction between broken parts of creation, broken desires, broken souls.

Question: Do I begin to study the Torah the moment the desire to get out of the broken state to the state of unity awakens in me?

Answer: Yes, and before that there is absolutely no need for it. For many thousands of years mankind has existed in such a state where the Torah was completely unnecessary and to this day many do not need it.

The period from receiving the Torah to entering the land of Israel is a period of unconscious correction, like a child who first crawls on all fours and then learns to walk, all mankind learned to eat, drink, build, and develop.

The egoistic desire that exists in an individual naturally, automatically moves him, and he does not need any Torah, a system of artificial knowledge and actions, since he will receive either reward or punishment directly from nature in response to his actions. They will teach him in such a simple and concise way.

But when we come to the state that we must consciously come into contact with the laws of nature, then we need to know them in order to fulfill them consciously. We begin to feel that if we do them selfishly, as before, then we will suffer greatly from this.

In our time, humanity is revealing its depravity, which can lead us to such suffering where we just eat each other. That is why the Torah is revealed.

The Program Of Free Choice

760.2Reshimot are data embedded in us—informational genes. It is as if I am buying a new computer that has nothing installed yet so I upload the program and data into it. This data creates a certain setup inside the computer.

That is exactly how man is built. We already have been given an animalistic, instinctive program to exist as a living organism. There is another program inside called “man,” designed to lead us to the level of adhesion with the Creator. Inside this program, we receive data, the so-called records, Reshimot.

The program processes this data and works according to it, but there is another parameter in this, a degree of freedom given to us as free choice. Do we want this program to work in the form of bestowal and not in the form of egoistic reception. This is how we advance, managing ourselves and our lives.

My Dear Subscribers!

599.01Comment: You have more than two million subscribers on Facebook, more than 260 thousand subscribers on YouTube. They are just like humanity in front of us—Russian-speaking but scattered all over the world. Even in Mongolia, there are about two thousand subscribers. There are subscribers in the Emirates. And so on.

They are people of different religions, ages, and nationalities. And they are gathered here, they are watching and listening. Their opinions clash, especially when events like the last war in Israel occur. There is your opinion, there are a lot of comments from Jews, Muslims, and Christians.

What would you say to all our subscribers, those who watch us? Will you be separating what you say to Jews, Muslims, and Christians?

My Response: No. No at all! They should see this from the way I treat my students, how I talk and what I do. Nothing like that!

For me, humanity is not divided into nations, into nationalities, into some other fragments, into religions, and so on. For me, humanity is divided into two parts: 99.9999999 percent are the people who just live, and it doesn’t matter who they are and what they are, and 0.0000001 percent is that part of the people, the “mighty bunch,” which can influence the Creator and, through Him, the entire world.

This is what I can say. For me, this is how humanity is divided.

Question: And to those who listen to you, and read?

Answer: These are my students.

I would tell them that for me there are no differences between religions, nationalities, only the desire to reveal the upper governing force in order to change us and our world. And nothing else is needed.

Question: And when there is a disagreement? There are a lot of disagreements and clashes in the comments.

Answer: This is along the way. They still want to show themselves in some way all the time, and they are nervous; after all we live in a difficult time. But I understand them.

I would, of course, very much like the world to gradually begin to understand how far this wisdom is detached from all our conventions, national and religious.

We address all people on Earth. We are in such a state that we need to reveal the upper governing force!

You can be engaged in any religion, do any job, anything at all, it does not matter. This upper governing force is above us all and does not apply to any of us in particular.

If you want it to treat you in a special way, you should come closer to it. This is what the wisdom of Kabbalah is talking about. Let’s find out how we can come closer to this force. It is possible. This is the kind of people I am trying to gather together and teach how to do it.

“A Granddad’s Heart” (Linkedin)

My new article on Linkedin “A Granddad’s Heart”

When I first became a granddad and saw my grandson for the first time, my heart filled with love. I held him in my arms; I wanted to play with him, to do something for him to make him feel good. I had never experienced such an emotion before that time.

Love is the reason we are here in this world; it is the reason why the world was created. Yet, unlike natural love, such as the instinctive love of a grandfather to a grandchild, among strangers, there is natural resistance, alienation, and enmity, rather than love.

However, life is formed precisely by overcoming these emotions. Every living being evolves by overcoming resistance and hardships. These “obstacles” create the need for growth and development. Had it not been for hardships and resistance, there would be no evolution and humans would never have come to be.

Feelings of separation from others, alienation, and enmity are therefore not negative emotions; they are levers for growth. We see them as negative when we don’t want to rise above them and grow. If, instead of rejecting them and fearing them, we would see them as opportunities to grow and develop ourselves, we would welcome them and benefit from them tremendously. Moreover, by rising above them, we would create a greater and tighter bond than the one we had before the appearance of those “hindrances.”

For example, think of the complexity of a unicellular creature compared to the complexity of the human body. They are incomparable. The reason for the creation of such a complex system as the human body is precisely the obstacles that all the levels of complexity encountered before they came to make a human organism. In a sense, therefore, we “owe” our lives, our existence, to the hatred and separation that appeared on the levels preceding ours.

This should teach us that we cannot eschew our duty to face the hatred that is being revealed among us today. Hatred appears for no other reason other than to promote evolution and greater union. If we avoid facing our resistance and uniting above the new and tougher level of hatred, we will hamper the evolution of our own species and pay heavily for it.

Our attitude toward the social crises plaguing our planet should therefore not be as natural as among family, but rather conscious and intentional. We should acknowledge that we do not feel like family, use family relations as an example to strive for, and try, together, to establish such relationships among us.

The key word here is “together.” Overcoming mutual alienation must be a mutual effort in which all parts of the population participate. Otherwise, one part will exploit the other and the whole feat will tumble like a deck of cards. We must install the awareness of how paramount it is that we form union above our separation until we truly feel as one family. Today, our lives, and the lives of our loved ones, depend on it.
