A Combination of Desire and Request

945Question: How can one achieve joy and perfection without suffering?

Answer: Only through constant prayer.

Question: How do we combine prayer out of hopelessness, i.e., shout about salvation, and at the same time be in joy and perfection?

Answer: Try to do it. There is no rule here except your desire and prayer. As a result, they will find such a combination that the Creator will hear and allow you to adhere to Him.

Question: How can we do this exactly from the strength of the connection in ten?

Answer: What is the problem? Unite with each other and at the same time ask the Creator.

Question: Should we raise this point at the workshop, talk about it, everyone engage in it, and from this, we will come to a unified state?

Answer: Yes.

Get in Touch with the Creator

939.01Question: You have said that a person’s reaction to something that is happening has two components: a natural, animalistic state and spirituality, which depends on the connection with the group. How do we develop the spiritual component?

Answer: The animalistic component, meaning the left line, develops within us automatically. In no way can we awaken it ourselves. As for the right line, we awaken it through our attempts to become similar to it in our connection within the ten and in connection from the ten to the Creator. We cannot address the Creator directly, only through the ten.

In our case, a ten can consist of five and even two friends. When a person works with his egoism, even one friend in front of him is enough for him. But in general, in Kabbalah, we call it a ten because precisely in the ten Sefirot one can obtain the property of the whole Partzuf. Otherwise, it is impossible to address the Creator.

In reality, a plea to the Creator has to be above egoism and we have to clearly understand what it means. As a matter of fact, we exist in connection with other friends—men with men and women with women—and we sense egoism between us.

We have to rise above the ego in order to aspire to the Creator. However, it takes a long time before a person recognizes this necessity and starts realizing it correctly.

However, this is the most real spiritual work. This is the way we are obligated to come to connection with the Creator precisely from our world. This is like our transmitter, emitter. When we become connected through our egoistic properties and rise above them, then this vibration of the ascent above egoism is what goes to the Creator.

To Be Connected with the Land of Israel

741.02And behold, the Lord stood over him and said, “I am the Lord, God of your father Abraham… This land on which you lie, to you I will give it and to your descendants” (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 368, “And Behold, the Lord Stood Over Him”).

Question: Why did the Creator promise, “The land on which you lie, I will give to your descendants”? Does it mean we must rise, and then He will give us this land?

Answer: No, it is enough that a person lies on the ground, meaning they desire to be as close as possible to the quality of the earth, to gradually inherit it from the Creator.

The word “land” (Eretz) comes from “Ratzon,” which means “desire.” A person gathers all the desires with which he wishes to turn to the Creator and asks the Creator for the ability to fill them.

“To lie on the land” means there is no state lower than this. If a person agrees to it, they will establish contact with this land. They want to be connected to it with their inner desire.

“To possess the land of Israel” means that the desire arising in them toward the Creator must be elevated and expanded so that it occupies all their consciousness.

Questions about Spiritual Work—215

963.5Question: How do we calibrate and check our intention?

Answer: First we aim to work with what we have. Then we strive to draw more light to strengthen our intention to bestow. That is how we grow.

Question: When there is an intention “for the sake of the world,” does it mean that all actions in the ten, whatever they may be, lead to a good result?

Answer: It is not simple. The world is very diverse, and we need to understand how to unify it. We will learn this gradually.

Question: When the Creator stirs and confuses us, what is required of us so that He helps immediately?

Answer: I recommend surrendering to the Creator. Let Him do with us as He wishes.

Question: How can we distinguish true desires from false ones?

Answer: We cannot.

Question: Can it be said that the Creator disguises Himself as the characters in the Torah to constantly awaken our evil inclination?

Answer: No, He has plenty of supporting players for that.

Question: Each person builds their individual Torah and commandments. How does one person’s Torah differ from another’s?

Answer: It differs because each person has a unique root of the soul.

Supports in Spiritual Work

243.05It is known that Netzah and Hod are called “two supports of the truth” (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 374, “He Touched the Hollow of His Thigh“).

Question: The supports are the reason a person engages in Torah. What are these supports of Netzach and Hod for us?

Answer: The entire system stands on two supports. These can be Netzach and Hod or they can be other qualities.

Therefore we must identify these qualities within ourselves and observe how they change. Based on this, it will become clearer to us what to do with them.

Question: Are the foundations of the work the left and right lines?

Answer: Yes.

Question: How do we acquire support for studying Torah in the ten?

Answer: We try to define the question we are raising to the Creator and clarify from which side the Creator is giving us the answer.

Don’t Part with the Desire Toward the Creator

284.01In other words, a person who has been rewarded with the kingdom of heaven can control all his thoughts and desires. This is regarded as his organs hearing the words (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 368, “And Behold, the Lord Stood Over Him“).

In this case, all the sensations in our body will be subordinate to these words, thoughts, and desires. And although we are not yet able to be equal with the Creator, we can strive to acquire His qualities.

Question: A person has no control over their thoughts or desires, even their efforts are built by the Creator. What efforts can we make to draw closer to the upper Malchut?

Answer: Do not part with the aspiration toward the Creator so that this is the only thing that fills you and pushes you forward. The main thing is to strive to be together with Him, not physically, but spiritually.

The “Sinner’s” Meal

528.01Enjoying the meal of that wicked implies the heart, if a person enjoys his wicked one enjoying himself.

He must eat and drink because otherwise he will not be able to live, but he must not enjoy the meal that his will to receive is doing (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 911, “The Meal of a Wicked One“).

A sinner is a person who does not feel that he lives in a world where the Creator operates, the Creator who created everything so that man could draw closer to Him.

Question: How do we not enjoy a sinner’s meal in the ten?

Answer: If we want to be at a meal whose purpose is to bring pleasure to the Creator, then this is the correct meal.

Question: How do we check if it is correct or not?

Answer: You will feel it. If you set yourself up correctly, you will immediately begin to feel what kind of pleasure you get from the meal.

The Closest Degree of Our Unity

239Question: You said that with the help of prayer, we can connect to the root of our souls. How can we do it?

Answer: We wish to rise to the highest level imaginable. In this way you can constantly strive for higher levels.

This is realized when I really want it, when I demand it from the highest level, and when I exert all my efforts.

Question: What is the closest step of our unity at the root of our souls that I should ask for my ten?

Answer: Start with the general Malchut, and then you will go up very quickly.

Question: Is this Malchut of the world of Assiya or something higher?

Answer: It is Malchut of the world of Assiya.
