Spiritual Protection

212Question: Do you have any protection against physical attacks?

Answer: I do have spiritual protection. I am under the influence of the same upper force; what it wants, it will do according to its plan.

I am obliged to give out the maximum of what I can at every moment. The maximum! I consider myself to be authorized to do this by my teacher, by all the Kabbalists, and by all those sufferings that are coming toward us all.

Question: Have you ever been threatened?

Answer: I do not know how to answer this question, but for me it is not a threat.

I am facing the Creator! Each of us is in front of Him. But the fact that I entrust myself to Him gives me such peace that I am calm in the face of the greatest dangers.

This is constant work because you are constantly given all kinds of doubts, descents, and various events just to force you to work on yourself and to elevate faith above reason.

“What are disadvantages of marrying your first love?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What are disadvantages of marrying your first love?

Marrying our first love does not guarantee a good marriage.

We usually encounter several mistakes, breakages, arguments and perhaps also divorces, and only later, at an age closer to the end rather than the beginning, do we perhaps meet someone and start appreciating the marital connection.

People usually change since the time they had their first love. Their ideas of connection, closeness and relationships become totally different.

We need to go through hard times, ups and downs, the destruction of previous states that we lived through, and we can then cherish our relationships.

In short, after we meet, we need to learn a lot about ourselves, go through alternating positive and negative experiences and encounter states of desperation in the process, and then we understand how to build a life where we strive solely for positive relations. We need to accumulate an arsenal of various negative sensations and states, and only afterward can we avoid them. It is like storing weapons for a period, entering into a war, and then casting the weapons aside after the war.

As it is with partners, so it is with humanity in general. Humanity is now accumulating various weapons, and then it will understand they need to be cast aside. All wars take place for this purpose.

There can be no good without the recognition of evil, whether in our individual lives, between couples, or in the world in general.

Therefore, the advice for young couples is to have very long and nagging conversations with each other, where each partner spills out everything that they think about their partner, like two researchers, and gradually, little by little, they will be able to reach a state where they will mutually explore themselves and one another.

Life then becomes interesting. It turns into research of how can we can improve our relationships from one day to the next, how to change them in order to continually come closer together, and we regularly try to discover each other’s qualities, feelings and the relationship in general as vibrantly as possible.

For the time being, such relationships take a long time to build, say about fifty or sixty years, but the time will come when all people will live in such a way. Until then, we need to encourage young couples and people in general to go through a form of education that teaches and encourages them to treat relationships similarly to a research lab, where we can constantly seek how to improve our relationships, changing ourselves in order to get closer and more positively connected to each other above all forms of destruction that can emerge in our lives. It is indeed possible and doable, and the more such connection-enriching learning spreads throughout human society, the quicker and easier we will all be able to progress through all negative states with more awareness and understanding.

Reincarnations—In the Vein of Bestowal and Love

509Comment: Kabbalists write that a person in this world in a biological body (not after death) can attain the state where he changes his nature.

My Response: Nothing happens after death. It is because the death of the physical body has very little, if any, effect on the condition of the spiritual body, which we call the soul.

Question: Still a person goes through various states in this world. Do they leave any record? Does anything remain?

Answer: There remains as much as a person gives to the world.

Question: What if he just leads a normal life? He has a family on some island, he lived there for a couple of decades, and that is it. Does anything remain of him?

Answer: What can remain?

Comment: But he had worries, he loved, he suffered.

My Response: Yes, he loved money and suffered from the lack of it. That is it. This is what he has left.

Comment: But all the same, a person does not just live like that; nature does not simply create some circumstances.

My Response: He has nothing worthy of remaining.

Question: Do you want to say that it is worthy only to take care of others? That is the merit?

Answer: Yes, because if he did, it was against his nature. In this he was similar to the Creator who acts only in the spirit of bestowal and love for others.

If a person acts against his egoistic nature for the sake of some goal, for example, for the sake of attaining the Creator, then these actions are imprinted and as if develop the soul, our desires.

If a person performs actions according to his nature in which everything is already pre-established, then nothing remains because there is nothing of him in it.

Equivalence of Intentions

608.02Since in Ein Sof it is He is One and His Name One, and since there is no place and vessel (meaning our desire) apparent there at all, no mind of a created being can attain Him, for there is no attainment without a vessel (Baal HaSulam, Study of the Ten Sefirot, Part 1, Chapter 2, Item 30).

Question: What does it mean “there is no attainment without a vessel”?

Answer: We must change our desire so that it is similar to the Creator, but how can we do this if we are created beings?

Therefore the influence of the light on our desire gives it an intention. If our intention matches the intention of the Creator, then we come closer to Him, and to this extent we can feel Him, contact Him, and be filled with Him.

It means that the most important thing is not the desire itself. The desire to enjoy is the primordial desire of creation itself, and it remains. But we can change our intentions for whose sake we enjoy, for ourselves or for the Creator (there are only two of these possibilities).

If we can change our intention from receiving pleasure for our own sake to receiving pleasure for the sake of the Creator, then we will become like the Creator in this; as the Creator wants to bring contentment to us, so we want to bring contentment to Him. To this extent, we will begin to feel Him.

In the Shallow Zone of Egoism

559Question: The Creator does not have the opportunity to do what we can do. Why can’t He do this job?

Answer: Because then we will not be able to feel what He wants us to feel.

We will not be able to consist of the two parts of nature at the same time: receiving and giving. After all, we only comprehend the Creator in opposites, as light from darkness. Everything is attained in contrast, in opposition.

Question: But if there is none else but Him, why can’t He implement the program that He Himself created?

Answer: The fact is that if we do not go through all the preliminary stages of our development, we will not accumulate the necessary sensations of opposite qualities in ourselves.

Everything consists of the accumulation of sensations and the awareness of opposites and their connection. If I know that this is darkness and this is light, and at the same time I can feel one against the other, then based on their multiple contradictions I consist of a huge amount of sensations and knowledge. By comparing them with each other, I recall from my memory all possible combinations of them, and based on this I become able to feel the opposite of me.

Therefore, I accumulate these feelings in myself; I experience them myself. And it cannot be explained. There are a lot of clever answers and questions, but all of them still do not explain anything because if a person is not in the feeling of “what does light mean against darkness,” he does not understand what it is about. After all, we are in different shades of only one egoistic quality.

There is no light at all in our world. There are various greater and lesser egoistic qualities. But they are different only in their egoism and not in comparison with something opposite to it.  Therefore we have nothing to compare them with. We live only in the egoistic quality from 100 percent, although we are far from it, to zero.

In fact, we are in a very shallow zone of egoism. We wallow in it and that is it. We cannot go lower, because there are such huge egoistic desires that simply scare us away because we will have to make a lot of effort to realize them. That is why we live on a little egoism; the day has passed, and it is good. This is our life.

Carriers of Enormous Desires

275Question: You are saying that it takes 15 to 20 years to attain spirituality. Is it possible to hasten it?

Answer: If you have a very serious environment around you, then it is possible.

I hope that we are creating a completely new environment for ourselves, which will work very intensively for us. For the first time in history, we are forming an environment not only from those who understand and know toward what they are going, but from ones who are completely ignorant and do not understand, that is, from a part of the 99% of the seven billion.

They follow us, they join us like little children. But there are many of them, billions of them, and therefore, they bring us their vast desires, although at a very low level.

But the fact is that they are carriers of enormous desires and aspirations, only this is not manifested in them. They have very small, so–called earthly egoism, the upper cut. They have an enormous egoistic potential, but they just sort of take off a very thin upper slice of their egoism, they exist in it and do not want more.

Each person puts himself in a certain “window” and he lives in it from plus to minus, which he determines by himself.

If he agrees to a bigger plus and minus, then this already is a bigger search, and he has a different, more interesting life. Like, for example, poets, composers, and scientists who are concerned not with purely animalistic, egoistic needs, but with somewhat larger, more abstract ones.

Therefore, we divide all the needs of a person into food, sex, family, money, honor, and knowledge. The higher the need, the higher the person.

“Europe Makes a Right Turn” (Medium)

Medium published my new article “Europe Makes a Right Turn

Ulf Kristersson Prime Minister of Sweden arrives at the European Council EUCO, the EU leaders summit while he is passing in front of the European flags and the flag of Europe. He does a stand-up and talks to the media while answering questions from journalists and the press. European Council Tackle Energy Crisis And Russia-Ukraine Conflict. After decades of Left leaning governments in the old continent, Europe is taking a turn to the right. Italy, Hungary, and Sweden have recently elected new governments, all of which are conservative, or right-wing. Judging by their platforms, they will focus more on the nation states, and less on the European Union. Is a wave of isolation and separatism on the way in Europe?

European countries seem to be experiencing a reactionary wave against the leftist, liberal, pan-European policy that Germany and France have dictated for the past three decades. The influx of migrants, many of whom are Muslims who have no intention to adopt European culture or faith, the escalating economic crisis that is hurting Europeans and undermining their financial security, and the member states’ loss of independence on many aspects, have driven Europeans to rethink their participation in the EU. Their realistic observation is forcing them to take reactionary measures and reclaim some of the independence they had given up in favor of empowering the Union, which some of them regret now, at least partially.

The slogans of European unity and declarations that Europe will be a single, powerful superpower, have clearly not been realized, and small countries, which have been hit the most by the loss of sovereignty, are sobering up from the dream. I always prefer realism to naivety, so I believe that Europe’s new direction is healthier and better for everyone, especially for Europe.

I do not see more countries performing their own Brexits from the European Union at the moment, but enhancing the independence of the nation states within the Union will help them remain within it while also tending to their home affairs. Unity is wonderful, and I am all for it, but when it is executed under duress, it creates hatred and oppression, and eventually explodes. When it cannot be done based on genuine concern for the welfare of all concerned, it is better to remain distant and respectful.

If Europe wants to create a continent-wide nation, it must first establish solidarity among all the member states destined to participate in the Union. Only once a sense of solidarity and cohesion has been established among the people can a political union succeed. Had European leaders chosen this path and went by this order, the transition from nation states to a “United States of Europe” would have been natural and smooth. Because the Union was primarily fiscal and hindered countries’ sovereignty and independence, without first creating mutual responsibility among the nations, it established itself on a wobbly basis that could not last. This is why we are witnessing a reactionary wave today.

Perhaps now that countries are reclaiming their independence, and considering the mutual dependence that still exists among the EU countries, they will be able to gradually develop stronger and healthier ties. However, if they wish to move even closer, they will have to foster a common European identity that all the member nations sympathize with and value more than their own national identities. For this to happen, there is still a ways to go.
