A System For The Injection Of The Light

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: If the forefathers were corrected and the sons reached mutual guarantee, for whom was the Torah, the method, actually given? For whom is it intended, Israel or the nations of the world?

Answer: The Torah was undoubtedly meant for the nations of the world. It says that the Creator turned to seventy nations and offered them the Torah, but none of these egoistic desires—ones that don’t have the spiritual spark, that aren’t able to correct themselves by keeping in contact with the Light, and that cannot respond to it correctly—were able to receive it. The “matter” of the desire to receive cannot understand the process of the ascent and the change brought about by the Light if it doesn’t have that spark.

So, how can the spark be inserted? For that, there is another system called “the people of Israel,” without which it is impossible to turn to the egoistic desire and start working with it. Even billions of years of evolution will not help if there is no spark of the Light inside the ego. The inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels of nature cannot rise; they are kinds of desire that cannot do it.

However, there is one kind of desire Israel that desires to be Yashar El (straight to the Creator). The entire world recognizes the fact that it is different and hates it without even knowing why.

The children of Israel, in their turn, discover that they are different, although they try to be like everyone else. There are even those who believe that it is another race, and there is a grain of truth in this assumption, although it is on a different level.

Our entire history proves that there is something special here, a special, natural phenomenon. Accordingly, the hatred that the nations of the world feel is also a natural phenomenon, and there is nothing we can do about it. Even those who have never been in contact with the Jews hate them. It comes from the inside. Even a person who has never heard about the cause of his repulsion simply feels that it is different.

This hate is rooted in religions, which only hasten the process by externally emphasizing the difference between the groups. It all stems from the difference between the general desire to receive and the part in which the Light dresses, which has to be the link for others. This is its only role.

Therefore, as it is written, “The Lord thy God has chosen thee.” Do whatever you want, He chose you, and that’s it. No matter how you regard your mission, you will fulfill it anyway because it is His Choice.

There is nothing special about you, but it is simply that, after the division into the “people of Israel” and the “nations of the world,” everyone has his role, his job, his free will. All this is predetermined from Above, and no one is better than another.

So, the children of Israel must teach the method of correction to others. Actually, how else can you bring contentment to the Creator if He initially turned to the nations of the world? The Creator wants to correct the basic desire to receive, but He has to build a system through which the entire process will go. Thus, Israel is the system, so do what you have to do.

Of course, this big desire to receive has to be revealed in the vessels of the nations of the world, but there should be no difference between us and them since it is one, whole vessel. Eventually, everything is revealed in the collective vessel as all its parts connect. As it is written, “He is One and His name is One.” In the general vessel, everything becomes “round,” inseparable.

The Religion Of Love

Dr. Michael LaitmanBaal HaSulam, from the article “The Arvut (Mutual Guarantee)”: Rabbi Elazar, son of Rashbi (Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai), clarifies this concept of Arvut even further. It is not enough for him that all of Israel be responsible for one another, but the whole world is included in that Arvut. Indeed, there is no dispute here, for everyone admits that to begin with, it is enough to start with one nation for the observance of the Torah for the beginning of the correction of the world. It was impossible to begin with all the nations at once.

Thus, the implementation of the Torah is called “correction of the world,” which was designed to bring everyone from hatred to love. As it is written in Baal HaSulam’s article “The Essence of Religion and its Purpose,” the true “religion” is the wisdom of Kabbalah and its purpose is to bring the world to love. The main commandment of the Torah is “love your neighbor as yourself.” There is no more than that.

But after the destruction of the Temple and the severance from the truth, as a result of the concealment and impurity, all kinds of religions began to develop according to the present meaning of this word. They began to develop from the wisdom of Kabbalah, which is the general “religion” of the entire world. They built an egoistic relation to the Creator and to life when they gave the foundation of give and take: “Let’s in some way earn paradise in the world to come.”

This in no way belongs to the truth that we need to discover here and now, as it is said: “You will see your world in your lifetime.” According to the definition, the wisdom of Kabbalah is the discovery of the Creator by the created beings in this world. Thus it isn’t required of us to believe in anything or perform any kinds of ritual, physical acts in order to receive some kind of reward after the death of the animal body. The “next world,” is Bina, bestowal, love, in which lies the intention aimed at bestowal for the good of others. Are you ready for this? Do you want to reach this kind of future world during this life?

We need to differentiate between true “religion”—the wisdom of Kabbalah—and the regular religions, between the real act of love of others—the one and only commandment—and between all kinds of actions that man fabricates for himself in hope to receive reward after the death of his body. In general, religions, beliefs, and various kinds of systems cause separation between people and pass on hatred between them, as opposed to the wisdom of Kabbalah, which speaks about unity above all the differences.

The Fuss About Kabbalah

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Could you please comment on the difference between your Kabbalah and the Kabbalah of Rav Berg?

Answer: Even Rabash (Rabbi Baruch Shalom HaLevi Ashlag, the eldest son of Baal HaSulam, his follower and successor) commented on this. Berg combined the Kabbalistic terms hassidut and mysticism. He created a blend that calms a person, but doesn’t change him, while Kabbalah is intended to correct human egoism.

All the advice and guidance of Berg’s school is no more than psychological comfort to make life easier, to give hope, but not to lead to correction, the revelation of the Creator to a person.

Even his definition of Kabbalah is quite different than of his “teacher” Baal HaSulam. But it’s convenient to sell this to the masses, as are the attributes that he sells, claiming that they have a higher power rather than a psychological impact.

His attitude to what is happening is the following: One needs to get comfortable in this world, to remove the bad, which, as we know, comes from the Creator so that we correct it in ourselves.

That is, instead of correcting oneself and revealing the Creator through oneself, you are advised to remove the obstacles that are sent by the Creator with the purpose of bringing you closer to Him; you are encouraged to live peacefully; it’s like any quackery or religion, but certainly not Kabbalah: the science of correcting egoism to love for the other as oneself in order to become similar to the Creator.

Paying For The Crisis: Racial Violence Is On The Rise In Greece

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Euronews): “Greece’s financial crisis is exacerbating racial violence according to a report by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees.

“It is sounding the alarm over attacks on immigrants for whom the country has long been a gateway into Europe.

“Giorgos Tsarbopoulos, head of UNHCR Greece, said, ‘The economic situations created a climate where slogans and xenophobic rhetoric and easy solutions that are not solutions of course, of ‘kick them out, let’s take the law into our own hands’ can more easily be propagated in a population which faces problems regarding security and public order.’

“Over recent weeks, the government has been herding illegal immigrants into new detention camps. But a shortage of funds is making it harder to either repatriate them or process asylum requests.”

My Comment: The growth of the Nazi organizations and parties is becoming common. Everything is going according to the Kabbalistic scenario, although it is according to its bad option—the path of suffering—rather than the path of Light, likeness to the Light, through the education of humanity for integration and unification.

The Empty American Dream

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Workers World): “As of the last count by the Census Bureau, there are almost 19 million EMPTY housing units in the United States.

“Many are brand new but have no buyers; people can’t afford them. Others have been lived in for years, but now lie empty after their occupants were chased out and their belongings dumped on the street by foreclosure enforcers.

“Allowing an average of only three people per housing unit, the statistic above means that at least 57 million people in the U.S. who are now homeless, in shelters, doubled or tripled up with relatives or friends, or living in trailers, campers or other vehicles, could have a real home to live in.”

My Comment: This will only grow more and more until humanity decides that it is necessary to change its attitude to the world from reception to bestowal, from egoism to participation, unity, love.

Strength And Weakness

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: After the leap that takes place in the groups, there is some confusion felt. It’s like when a person has won the world championship and now needs to prepare for the Olympic games.

Answer: A person experiences some descent, a lack of motivation. He doesn’t clearly see the goal; he doesn’t have the same pressure with which he worked earlier. Suddenly, all this disappeared.

Question: How can I hold this goal?

Answer: This is what mutual guarantee, Arvut, is! This is why the group is needed—to hold everyone! No one can resist this fall and no one can climb out of it.

The group must provide ascent for all together. After all, you have strength to support others, but you have no strength to support yourself; the group must do this.

Question: Where did people find strength to study Kabbalah and to organize a learning center?

Answer: They didn’t work towards unity. They worked in Kabbalah egoistically. It wasn’t Kabbalah, but merely knowledge. They studied articles, The Study of the Ten Sefirot and other materials.

When you are facing the need to unite, you develop a weakness; you start feeling that this is against you, you don’t want this. But before that, there was no weakness.

The desire to know more, to sort through a couple more articles, a couple more quotations and the like, all that is fine, and you feel more confident. Thus, in principle, people don’t advance, but accumulate knowledge.

Today, we have already accumulated knowledge; we have done everything, we have carried out preparation simultaneously in the world—what remains is just unity!

Leave Me Alone, I Am Not An Orator!

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What should a person, who is not a natural orator, do if he is unable to be in front of people, to speak and explain things?

Answer: He needs to be paired up with a strong person, to see the way he works, to envy him. Envy is a very powerful driver.

This is why it is absolutely necessary to take him along so that he would see, get inspired, passionate, and jealous that the other one can do it and he cannot. This will advance him. Maybe he will not turn into a lecturer, but he will be able to prepare materials, organize round tables, and take part in the common discussion, instead of spending an hour standing in front of an audience.

There are people who just are not capable of doing it. There are people who simply read lectures written ahead of time, or conduct a lecture according to a thesis. And there are people like me. If there is something written in front of me, I am unable to say anything. This is a known fact.

The Group’s Breakthrough

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Suppose there are 300 people in the group. Should each of them find his place in the external work with the masses?

Answer: This is not a requirement. There is a definite potential part that must break through.

It’s said that three million people left the Egyptian exile, but there were only 600,000 souls of men between the ages of 20 and 60, those who were really strong, men in their nature. It is just one-fifth.

Therefore, if only about one-fifth, one-fourth, or even a third of the group can gather in a strong team (this will still require the support of everyone else), then it’s enough for all of them, even the weakest, to feel their attraction, their attitude, their ascent to the next level. Everyone to the extent of his strength; there is nothing you can do. Every human society is arranged like a pyramid.
