Question: Why does Baal HaSulam speak only about the need to adhere to books and writers in his articles without mentioning the importance of adhering to the group?

Answer: The importance of adhering to the group isn’t mentioned because it’s a clear and obvious condition. The unity, the connection with others, is the vessel without which it’s practically impossible to start working. Thanks to it you rise above your ego and reach a minimal desire to bestow, from which you continue.

But if you don’t have an environment, which helps you rise out of this hole, from your ego, then there is no one to talk to. It’s about a person, about a discernment in us that rises above the ego, and this is possible only by adhering to the friends. Unless you perform these actions, it’s as if you weren’t born yet, and there’s no one to talk to yet. We aren’t talking about what a person has to do as long as he is a drop of semen and has not yet been born.

It’s about a person who already exists, which means about the discernment within a person that is evoked and that rises above his ego. This is possible only with the help of the environment. To the extent that a person is adhered to the environment, he can exit his ego and rise above it. There is no other force that can pull him out.

Later we can already speak about his other spiritual actions for which the force of the environment is also needed since he himself has no powers. A person is a desire to receive, and there’s nothing we can say about it. It’s only about the part that rose above the ego and is therefore called a friend, a person.

Question: It is obvious that in order to prepare for a seminar, one needs to apply internal effort. Exactly, what kind of effort is required? What should we be doing specifically?

Answer: The first 20 articles by Rabash clearly, specifically, and concisely explain this issue. They illustrate what particularly we should talk about while preparing for the seminar: the importance of the group and friends, the importance of revealing the Creator within the group, the role of nullifying oneself before the group, the need for complete inclusion in the group, and the necessity to regard everyone as “one whole” in order to disclose the upper force according to the law of similarity of properties.

All of these conditions create a joint aspiration that we should imagine as one single picture. We should constantly work with this picture, permanently keep it in mind, and try to elucidate all questions through it since this is the place in which we all are united and where our aggregate desire and mind are. If we manage to achieve it, everything else will happen smoothly.

The only problem is how to start thinking in this direction and how to prepare to achieve this state. Maybe, we should write down everything that helps us “tune” ourselves, like tuning a musical instrument. Have you seen how they tune an instrument? First, he takes care of one part of the instrument, then he turns his attention to another. One octave at a time, he plays the note “do” in various octaves, then he tries “mi” He plays and listens to the sounds of the chords. In other words, it is a system to which we have to “tune” ourselves internally.

We have to constantly keep in mind that the system of ten Sefirot, which we are made of, far more complex than any musical instrument. This is a huge, multi-dimensional, multi-leveled system, which includes innumerable sensations that are arranged into one joint structure.

We are not talking about some separate “planes”; all of them ultimately join together. In due course, our efforts will end up creating a spherical picture of the upper world.

Just as today you imagine yourself in the sphere of this world, imagine yourself in the upper world even though it is far more complicated than ours, since it has n-dimensional “space” if “space” can be even used in the context.

People do not realize how much, in principle, they are not prepared for seminars. All they know is that today something will be going on. It has nothing to do with real preparation!

Preparation is when several hours before a seminar; you are “tuning” yourself, searching for a precise way to unite. It is a process of enhancing internal sensations and making a detailed analysis. It’s also about ridding oneself of all interferences and considerations until something “clicks” from within, a sensation of connectedness that we by all means have to preserve and augment.

Question: Is this individual work or does it have a group nature?

Answer: It is individual work. Later on, in the group, at the very beginning of each seminar, everybody should spend a couple of minutes to grasp the idea. However, when one connects with the group, there is a good chance that he will lose the result of his preparatory work. Yet, one should still do one’s work, and only after the work is complete can he become engaged in something else, although it shouldn’t take you as long as 50 minutes (or even longer), as it happened at the last seminar.

Essentially, people were discussing the topics of the seminar mechanically, rather than implementing them internally. They were confused even in words! Strangely enough, even those people who have lots of prior experience and usually are pretty eloquent couldn’t find normal words to scrutinize their internal states through the sensation of unity.

Baal HaSulam, “The Arvut (Mutual Guarantee)”: These are the words of Rabbi Elazar, son of Rabbi Shimon, who said that the world is judged by its majority. He was referring to the role of the Israeli nation to qualify the world for a certain measure of purity, until they are worthy of taking upon themselves His work, no less than Israel were worthy at the time they received the Torah.”

It’s wrong to imagine the “world” as a desire to receive that cannot perform any actions on its own. It isn’t so. The part of Israel in the world is simply similar to the head of the Partzuf, to the first three Sefirot (GAR), and it must act as the “adaptor” between the Light and the desire to receive.

The Partzuf is divided into five parts: Keter, Hochma, Bina, Zeir Anpin, and Malchut. The Light resides in the vessels of Keter, Hochma, and Bina, and they are adapted to it. By being the same desire to receive, they contain the Light and perform Zivug de Haka’a (coupling by beating) with it and pass it on to the receiving vessels, to Zeir Anpin and Malchut (ZON).

So it’s impossible to manage without the vessels of Keter, Hochma, and Bina. They are the link and they are very important since without them the connection would be lost. On the other hand, the goal of the process is that the vessels of ZON, whose work is to raise the request for correction (MAN) to the vessels of bestowal (GAR), to be incorporated in them and to join them.

The two parts help each other mutually. ZON helps the vessels of GAR to fulfill their role as the link, and GAR evoke the vessels of ZON and bring them the method of correction needed for the receiving vessels in order to connect and to be incorporated in the vessels of GAR. Thus the “nations of the world,” those that don’t have a spark of bestowal, perform important work when they connect to the vessels of the first three Sefirot.

The same thing happens to us: How could we draw the Light if we weren’t connected to Rabbi Shimon, to Baal HaSulam, to Rabash, and to the other great Kabbalists, or in other words to the Partzufim, the Sefirot, the spiritual levels? We connect to them in order to receive power from them, so that they will operate on us and unite us. When I read a Kabbalistic text, I try to connect to its author. After all, he is the upper one for me and through him my connection to the Light flows. It isn’t about a certain person that once lived; I want to connect with the source of the Light, and I am drawn to the link, to the spiritual mechanism through which that connection continues.

When I develop my spiritual vessels together with the Masach (screen), when I can connect with the spiritual world, I will see the Kabbalist in his spiritual form, as a Partzuf. Now he is the author of the article or the author of the book for me. This is the uniqueness of our world: Here we can use texts, which we don’t actually understand yet, and can connect with spirituality through such external devices. The Kabbalist invites me, cares for me, and I try to hold on to him, and thus we are in a relationship of mutual guarantee.

As for the “nations of the world,” they will not receive the correction all at once either. Their role is to join, to help, to be incorporated in the vessels of GAR. This is very serious work thanks to which Hochma is revealed in them. It is by them that all the Light is revealed.

Although according to the opposite value between the Lights and the vessels, it’s first revealed only in the vessels of GAR and only for the time being, on the way to the end of correction. Later everything is filled with one simple Light, as it says “and they shall all know Me from the smallest to the greatest.” And there won’t be even one grain of desire that will not receive complete fulfillment. Since all the grains are included in each other, each of them, every individual soul attains Ein Sof (Infinity).

All our correction is in order to reach the connection of all the shattered vessels. Then we will correct the general vessel. This connection should be perfect, special, and diversified. We aren’t just putting together a puzzle, a two dimensional picture.

After all, we understand from the shattering that the vessels were incorporated in each other, and there isn’t one shattered part that doesn’t include all the other vessels. Therefore, every part is separated from the whole since it has lost the natural ability to be with others. This is the broken part in it. Now with the help of the upper Light, it should acquire this ability by itself.

In the past I knew I was connected to several parts around me, just like in an ordinary puzzle. I had to get along only with those who were next to me, and this promised everything that is good to our “area.”

But now everything is different, now I am included in everyone. This means that I have to take part in the connection among everyone, in the connection between every two different parts. Just think what a mechanism we are talking about: All its parts are integrally connected among them, in all their diversity, in all the sections, in every direction. We cannot imagine yet how such a thing is possible.

In order to be able to start this assembly which includes measurements, an emotional perception, and mutual participation in hundreds of billions of options; this idea is presented to us in the form of the law of mutual guarantee, which we have to keep even on the lowest level. In fact; for a start, I don’t have to keep in touch with all the other parts, which are not really seven billion but an infinite amount, since everyone is included in everyone and since every connection to someone else immediately turns into the world of Ein Sof (Infinity).

The law of mutual guarantee, the format in which Kabbalists bring us the method of connection, is a simple method that can be easily fulfilled, and which enables us to carry out simple gradual actions on our way to correction without being confused. Today we cannot deal with our internal “mechanism,” which we will reach later on, according to the principle of “from Your actions we shall know You.” Instead we are dealing with accessible, external things that can be identified in order to advance.

This is mutual guarantee: not entering internal things, which could prevent me from correcting myself and the world. I only need to be responsible for what is happening among us. We should regard the method of mutual guarantee as a wonderful opportunity. Kabbalists intentionally brought us the method of correction in such a simple form.

Question: Soon there will be a convention in Kharkov. Which main thought should we be concentrating on?

Answer: This thought must be a about achieving a very serious unity, where the upper Force will be revealed, which helps everyone see, feel, and understand how to actually advance.

Regrettably, currently there is enormous confusion; people still do not understand what they need to do. And they will not understand it until they see and feel that they are on a spiritual level: the level of bestowal. They will have problems, complaints, and so forth.

Question: Are you speaking about mankind or our groups?

Answer: Primarily, I am speaking about our groups. Personally, I need to urgently lift my students to already begin working with them on a different level.

I hope that our seminars, the upcoming fall convention, and the work in preparation for the convention and dissemination of our materials that we do over the course of this time, the round tables in the West, the US, and Israel—that all of this will result in our ability to enter then next level through our mutual effort. I am always waiting for this. And it is coming nearer.

It is like jumping over an abyss, when you need to swing intensely, and only after will you be able to make a good jump. We are now swinging like a cat aiming itself before a jump. This is the state that we are in now.

This has never yet happened in history because since the breaking of the Kelim, the vessels, we are the first ones to begin correcting.

Question: Sо you have both an uneasy and happy feeling that this is about to happen?

Answer: I simply know that this must happen, and I am concerned in a way, because I feel like the world is unraveling much faster and we must prevent the outcome of it.

We can do this if we gather into one single Kli, a common desire, then the world will follow us. And everyone will suddenly reveal that there is a method, a group, an organization, which is able to give a new philosophy, a new model to the world.

And if we fail to achieve this and will have no strength, mankind will also not feel anything. We must appear in this world as the carriers of a unifying, spiritual upper Force. And then the world will “smell” that we have it, and everyone will follow.

This is why it is very important now to prepare many teachers, lecturers, and educators who need to complete seminars and courses of integral preparation, of unity, so they understand what this is about even though they have not yet attained spirituality. But we already want to have materials, a method, and for everything around to move towards it.

I think that we will absolutely break through before the fall convention: The world will obligate us. There is an objective need here, and it is not for us, but for the world to advance forward.

Once we really capture this spiritual potential, the entire world will immediately begin to feel it and advance because we all exist in one single field.

Just like a charge in an electric field moves towards its source, its potential, in the same way, the entire world will suddenly feel that we have the solution to the problem; we will capture specifically this potential, this unity. It is not like something will convince everyone; people will not need words, they will simply wait: “Give us what you have!” They will turn to us with this demand.

Question: Will the division into internal and external parts, between “Israel” and the “nations of the world” be kept when the whole world reaches the end of correction?

Answer: No. The letters of the Hebrew word “Israel” stand for Li Rosh (I have a head). This is the order of the general correction—the one who is evoked and is given a special desire is called “Israel,” and he must take care of the whole world serving as the link between the Creator and the created beings. It isn’t an ordinary desire since the “point in the heart” manages it by the connection with the Creator. The attribute of bestowal was inserted into this desire, the posterior of Nefesh of Holiness. This is the meaning of the “Israel,” Yashar – El (straight to the Creator). It isn’t about certain people, but rather about a special type of desire that is connected to the Creator since it has the discernment of what bestowal is. Although it is concealed and shattered, it still exists.

How can the desires in which this spark, this discernment of bestowal, doesn’t exist be corrected? It is possible if they add Israel as their “head;” if the two parts connect and work together.

The whole world is the essence of the desire to receive that must be corrected. But it can only do it through connection with another desire in which there is a spark of bestowal. Therefore the “nations of the world” are not required to correct themselves. On the other hand, they feel sorrow and pain since “Israel” doesn’t correct them.

This is where the hatred that the world feels towards Israel stems from. Of course, no one perceives it, but subconsciously, according to their nature, these people feel it and express their claims openly.

The correction is the role of those who belong to “Israel.” They have to correct their attitude towards the nations of the world as soon as possible. Actually, there is nothing to correct in “Israel” themselves, except for the part of the “nations of the world” in them. If “Israel” process these desires in them correctly, they will understand how to treat others. Speaking in Kabbalistic terms AHP de Bina explains to Bina how it should treat ZON.

Thus we must first correct “the nations of the world” in us, our external part, which will allow us to connect with the internal part of the world. This is the order of correction. It is our duty, and if we don’t make efforts to carry it out as soon as possible, troubles are soon to come. The time has come, and the nations of the world will begin to pressure us since the mutual inclusion that was created as a result of the exile allows them to feel that Israel owe them.

It says: “Why was it called Mt. Sinai? Since the hatred of the nations of the world descended from it.” “Since Israel received the method of correction. So where do all our troubles come from? From Israel, since they do not fulfill what they have received.” The Torah, the method, obliges us immediately, while the upper force manages the nations of the world, and so their hate is justified.

But we are advancing “against the current,” hoping that the troubles will go away by themselves without correction on our part. It’s nonsense. After all, we are dealing with the force that evokes the correction. We mustn’t even ask or pray that the hatred that nations of the world feel towards us will disappear from the world; we should only exert ourselves so that it will be corrected. Here too, it isn’t because it’s an unpleasant phenomenon, but on the contrary, we have to be thankful for it since it evokes us to turn to the Creator.

So it’s an oxymoron.

Baal HaSulam, “The Arvut (Mutual Guarantee)”: Hence, only the members of the Israeli nation were admitted into the required Arvut, and not the nations of the world at all, because they did not participate in it.

This is how the desire to receive began to split. In ancient Babel, one nation lived that later began to split up into separate groups that spread all over the globe since the upper force didn’t hold them together anymore. This dispersion meant that the desires to receive discovered the differences between them. The different desires which belong to different levels like “Syria,” “the trans-Jordan,” “the Land of Israel,” “Egypt,” etc. began to appear. To the extent that they were revealed, we felt ourselves more and more separated until we discovered to what extent we are still connected to each other internally.

Today we are forced to connect since we depend on each other, and we cannot exist without each other. Thus Babel returns and obliges us to rebuild “a tower that reaches Heaven,” but not the egoistic one this time. We don’t challenge Heaven now, but rather rise to bestowal, to love, to equivalence with the Creator. This is called the true “ascent to Heaven.”

Today, in a time of total destruction of the old tower of Babel, we discover how destructive our ego, the source of all our troubles, is and how separated and distant we are from one another. Thus the dispersion of the Babylonians ends—each one wants to live separately without any obligations to others, and at the same time, it turns out that in order to survive we will need a general mutual connection. Because of our dependence on it, we feel that we have to reconnect, but how?

By feeling the necessity to build a new tower of Babel, we build it by correcting ourselves to bestow. Eventually we will become one nation again and will build the “tower that is full of good” and reach Heaven.
