Torah, Deuteronomy, 32:26 – 32:29: I said that I would make an end of them, eradicate their remembrance from mankind. Were it not that the enemy’s wrath was heaped up, lest their adversaries distort; lest they claim, “Our hand was triumphant! The Lord did none of this!” For they are a nation devoid of counsel, and they have no understanding. If they were wise, they would understand this; they would reflect upon their fate.

The task of the Creator is not to destroy humanity, but to bring it to the realization that ascent above our nature is a blessing, necessity, and an absolute freedom from the side of the Creator.

He must bring us to a very interesting, almost paradoxical state, where while being absolutely free and not being acted upon by some terrible states, we voluntarily choose the quality of bestowal and love. However, we do not see this. On the contrary, so far we are moving “toward happiness by the stick.”

But eventually under the influence of this stick, a person will realize his true nature and will say, “Even if I returned to the previous egoistic state, I would in no case want to remain in it! Thank God, I recognized the evil of my nature and now I am saying goodbye to it. Not because I felt bad being in it and I experienced great suffering, but because egoism is an evil in the relationship between me and other people, and between me and the Creator.”

Here is manifested the attainment of amazing height, perfection of the quality of bestowal and love. However, all this happens through great suffering. We see that people who experience such suffering, nevertheless, are themselves drawn to mercy because Light enters into them a little and gives them a taste for it.

It is written, “Were it not that the enemy’s wrath was heaped up, lest their adversaries distort; lest they claim, “Our hand was triumphant! The Lord did none of this!”” A person must see with his own eyes that everything that happened to him could not happen by itself (from the point of view of inanimate nature), but this is a controlled program that works on him and leads him to the realization of his source.

Torah, Deuteronomy 32:02: My lesson will drip like rain; my word will flow like dew; like storm winds on vegetation and like raindrops on grass.

The rain pours from above downward and the dew rises from below upward; in other words, the Direct Light (Ohr Yashar) and the Reflected Light (Ohr Hozer) act so that heaven and earth (the quality of reception and the quality of bestowal) unite and bear fruit.

Fruits are the next stage; the vegetative level begins to manifest after the inanimate matter.

Torah, Deuteronomy 32:05 – 32:06: Destruction is not His; it is His children’s defect you crooked and twisted generation. Is this how you repay the Lord, you disgraceful, unwise people?! Is He not your Father, your Master? He has made you and established you

Question: Why are there suddenly accusations against the people of Israel?

Answer: The Creator is perfect. And you, look at yourself. Look what you are doing under the influence of your egoism: to what extent you cannot correct it, how much it seems to you that everything that the Creator does is bad. Absolute disbelief and evil comes from you. You fall into your egoism and cannot justify the Creator, you cannot exalt Him, the quality of bestowal and love.

However, on the other hand, who created all this in a person? The same Creator! So why does He begin to demand everything from a person? This is in order for a person to realize that on one hand this is done by the Creator and now he must correct all of it. After all, only through the correction of evil will he reach the level of the Creator and understand why He did this.

Comment: But on the other hand, it is written that they are His sons and He is their Father and Master.

Answer: Aren’t we doing the same with our children when we want them to achieve something good? Don’t we place all kinds of tasks before them, give them exercises, and so on? A correct education places serious demands on children.

Torah, Deuteronomy 32:01: Listen, O heavens, and I will speak! And let the earth hear the words of my mouth!

Moses brought the sons of Israel to the state in which two opposite parts, Bina and Malchut, two qualities within each of us and in the creation in general, merge together. The voice coming from Bina can reach Malchut, that is, from heaven to earth, and the voice of the people can rise from the earth (Malchut) to heaven (Bina).

The connection between Bina and Malchut is the most important thing that we have. From Bina we receive the quality of correction, the quality of bestowal that is added to the quality of Malchut (reception), and we perform reception for the sake of bestowal.

From this moment on, the people of Israel are already ready to cross the Jordan and enter the land of Israel. The land of Israel is those desires that need to be corrected to reception for the sake of bestowal. Moses prepares the people for this.

Torah, Deuteronomy 32:18 – 32:21: You forgot the [Mighty] Rock Who bore you; you forgot the God Who delivered you. And the Lord saw this and became angry, provoked by His sons and daughters. And He said, “I will hide My face from them. I will see what their end will be, for they are a generation of changes; they are not [recognizable] as My children whom I have reared. They have provoked My jealousy with a non-god, provoked My anger with their vanities. Thus, I will provoke their jealousy with a non-people, provoke their anger with a foolish nation.

The Creator does not allow the children of Israel to calm down. He seems to say: “You will behave in a criminal way toward each other and the rest of the nations, and the peoples of the world in relation to you, and eventually all together in relation to Me. But only in this way will you become the chosen and special people.”

The people of Israel have to pass through these states because only from a sense of evil and the necessity to achieve good does a person begin to call out to the Creator. He understands that he is obliged to undergo this operation and agrees that the Creator will perform it on him. This is called the awareness of evil.

Question: Does the Creator speak in such a way on purpose, so that a person connects to His thought?

Answer: The Creator explains his future states to him from which he must act and come to life. It is written, “They have provoked My jealousy with a non-god, provoked My anger with their vanities. Thus, I will provoke their jealousy with a non-people, provoke their anger with a foolish nation.” This means: “I will give you the states in which you will hate each other and will hardly exist in this hatred at the lowest level.”

And really, look at what is happening now with our people. To what extent it is torn, separated, internally opposed to itself. There is no other people that would be so multifaceted in its negative polarity.

Compared to what the Creator requires of us, there is nothing positive within us. And if there is, then this positive correlation is not with us, but with the fact that we have a spark from the Creator, from which, perhaps, the flame will kindle.

We are its carriers. But this is why we are even meaner and more egoistic than all other nations. If it weren’t for this spark, we would be like the rest. But we will never be like them. Inside us there is something that has been distinguishing us from other nations throughout the millennia of our history, and there is nowhere that we can get away from it.

We need to understand that we are obliged to realize in ourselves a special truth, a method: “to be a light unto nations.” That is, to show all nations the possibility of uniting, creating the correct community of people in which the Creator is revealed. Only we can do this, but we do not fulfill our role. That is why we are so hated. That is why the Torah calls us a “foolish nation” that can do good to others, but does not do it. The nations of the world instinctively understand this and rightfully hate it.

Especially at a time when we have already received the land, the state, all the conditions to reveal the wisdom of Kabbalah to the whole world and bring it to people. But no one wants to listen to Kabbalists, everybody turns away from us.

Question: That is why He “will hide My face”?

Answer: Yes. The Creator is moving away. He is hiding behind our egoism, while right now He must reveal himself in the quality of bestowal and love over the egoistic quality. And since we do not do it, He hides even more.

“Disclosing the face of the Creator” means that we see the correct management, we know how to act, and in response to our every right action, we immediately receive a good, wonderful impact of nature. This is an absolutely complete interaction! We immediately receive an answer for any action. Baal HaSulam writes about this in the article “Concealment and Disclosure of the Face of the Creator.” That is, all of nature is revealed to us as a panel on which we see everything and can take anything from it. We work with it in unison, in friendly tandem.

Torah, Deuteronomy 32:04: The deeds of the [Mighty] Rock are perfect, for all His ways are just; a faithful God, without injustice He is righteous and upright.

This is what Moses passes to the people and what is attained by the people who reveal the Creator.

Today those who come to study Kabbalah attain Him in the same way. The Torah is the same for everyone. In any case, everyone will come to the revelation of the Creator in this life or in future reincarnations and will attain Him exactly like that.

“Mighty Rock” is written about the foundation that is unshakable and unchanging, meaning that movement toward the Creator occurs according to the clear and definite laws from Malchut to Keter.

“The deeds of the [Mighty] Rock are perfect” means that those things that happen to us, no matter what they seem to us at the time of correction, we gradually justify, up to the realization of the Creator’s overall perfection in everything that we have gone through.

Everything that happened to us and will happen during the entire evolution of humanity, we will eventually call “His perfect deeds.”

It is written that “all His ways are just.” This means that each of us and all of us together go through certain paths, wander all the time, make efforts, and eventually reach the state where we see that the Creator at every point of our development had only one goal: to bring us to the state of perfection.

Torah, Deuteronomy 32:11 – 32:12: As an eagle awakens its nest, hovering over its fledglings, it spreads its wings, taking them and carrying them on its pinions.

[So] the Lord guided them alone, and there was no alien deity with Him.

The language of the Torah is very poetic. But when Kabbalah explains what the Torah is about, it is revealed that there is no poetry there. What is meant is the forces that rule us, lead us through all these states: both when we rise above the screen and when we go down below the screen, and so on.

These are very serious, uneasy, heavy actions that the Creator performs on us. And we must participate in them.

The eagle that “spreads its wings, taking them, carrying them” is the anti-egoistic screen that lifts us higher and higher.

The eagle carries its nestlings away not in claws, but puts them on its wings and flies. It’s amazing, but that’s exactly what happens. This is a special action of Bina when she raises Malchut to her and thus protects her from egoistic arrows that fly to her from below.

Torah, Deuteronomy 32:15 – 32:17: And Jeshurun became fat and rebelled; you grew fat, thick and rotund; [Israel] forsook the God Who made them, and spurned the [Mighty] Rock of their salvation.

They provoked His zeal with alien worship; they made Him angry with abominations deeds.

They sacrificed to demons, which have no power, deities they did not know, new things that only recently came, which your forefathers did not fear.

Question: Does a person come to a certain turning point? First, he rises to a level when he “…rides upon the high places of the earth, (and) …eats the produce of the field,” then suddenly falls again to “you grew fat, thick and rotund…”

Answer: This is necessary in order to rise to the next degree. You do everything to justify and correct the level you are on. And when it is necessary to rise to the next degree, you are given additional egoism, and everything you achieved earlier disappears to who knows where.

You again feel yourself as an absolute sinner with respect to the Creator and lament that you are constantly being set up this way. A person comes to a state when he can’t justify His actions and frequently rejects everything that he had already achieved and may even leave this path.

Plunging into new, greater, egoism associated with the next degree is a very difficult experience; the entire past is completely erased. Moreover, at the very last degree, you fall lower than ever before. And it is like that each time. That’s why very serious difficulties can arise here.

Question: It is written, “you grew fat, thick and rotund and forsook the God…” What does that mean?

Answer: You start to receive everything only for your own pleasure. After you had achieved so much good, corrected yourself, you again fall into self-gratification. That’s why new egoism has to be added to you, so that you understand the place  you fell to. And then the blows come.

Torah, Deuteronomy 31:28 – 31:30: Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your officers, and I will speak these words into their ears, and I will call upon the heaven and the earth as witnesses against them.

For I know that after my death, you will surely become corrupted, and deviate from the way which I had commanded you. Consequently, the evil will befall you at the end of days, because you did evil in the eyes of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger through the work of your hands.

Then, Moses spoke into the ears of the entire assembly of Israel the words of the following song, until their completion.
Moses foresaw everything because it could not be otherwise. He is not a person, but a detailed plan for the correction of the soul.

Comment: It is written: “You will surely become corrupted, and deviate from the way which I had commanded you.” All this is heard by the people, that is, our desires, but they do not want to follow Moses’ instructions. And at the same time there is a feeling that I will not be corrupted…

Answer: The mind seems to understand, but the desires do not want to obey. This is the difference between the mind and the heart. You understand and speak from the mind, but from the heart you act directly the opposite.

In other words, you are still strong in the mind, you still have the strength to say “no,” but your petty heart is already plotting something.

Question: Therefore, in the next chapter “Asinu” (Hear), there are many warnings: “Look what will happen to you, I know this …” How does it help a person?

Answer: The fact is that the spiritual record inside of us will not disappear: millions of states, thousands of years pass, and still this record remains inside us, inside all the humanity, and especially inside the people of Israel. Therefore, we will have to realize it.

We are approaching the state when people already understand that it is probably necessary to look for something because the world is completely losing its orientation.

Torah, Deuteronomy 32:10: He found them in a desert land, and in a desolate, howling wasteland. He encompassed them and bestowed understanding upon them; He protected them as the pupil of His eye.

In this way we discover that we were constantly progressing, although we did not feel it.

When a person possessing the property of Malchut wants to find some kind of support in the property of Bina and it is completely opposite to Malchut, then it really is a desert in which only snakes and scorpions creep. A person does not understand, does not know what to do, and is totally confused.

The desert embodies such inner states when everything burns you, when you have nothing. It is from such intricate states that you can turn to the Creator, otherwise, egoism won’t allow you.
