“Remember The Days Of Old”

laitman_947Torah, Deuteronomy 32:07 – 32:09: Remember the days of old; reflect upon the years of [other] generations. Ask your father, and he will tell you; your elders, and they will inform you.

When the Most High gave nations their lot, when He separated the sons of man, He set up the boundaries of peoples according to the number of the children of Israel.

Because the Lord’s portion is His people Jacob, the lot of His inheritance.

It is written: “Because the Lord’s portion is His people Jacob, the lot of His inheritance.” This is about the middle line that combines the entire huge egoism and the entire huge quality of altruism, the quality of bestowal and love that is received from the Creator.

This is a combination of all of human nature that is revealed more and more, to the very end. A person goes through terrible states when he betrays everyone and everything and is ready to destroy absolutely everyone, including the Creator. This is the left line.

However, at the same time, he demands to be corrected, and this is the right line. He does not want to have these egoistic states in him and he receives the right line, which does not destroy the left line, does not annul it, but is created opposite to the left line.

A person begins to combine the two lines in himself—the right one and the left one—like a plus and a minus. He builds his desire on this. So, upon the quality of the left line (absolute egoism) and upon the quality of the right line (absolute bestowal and love), he builds his soul.

In other words, a person’s desire is between two opposite qualities and absorbs them into itself: both the quality of bestowal and the quality of reception.

The desire wants to receive, otherwise we cannot do anything. It aspires to receive because the Creator requires this. In this respect, the desire, by its nature, is opposite to the Creator and in its correction, it is absolutely similar to Him.

Our qualities that turned into reception for the sake of bestowal are called His people, the correct combination of minus and plus is called Jacob.

Question: Why do we need to always “Remember the days of old; reflect upon the years of [other] generations. Ask your father, and he will tell you; your elders, and they will inform you.”?

Answer: The generation is something that must be raised from all of our past experiences in order to bring them to correction, to create the correct overall balance: the accumulation of the minus, plus, and middle parts.

Questions: So when it is written “Remember the days of old,” it means that you as if pull them to yourself for the present correction. And in our world, isn’t the opposite true: it is better not to remember the past? As soon as we begin to remember the past, we get many additional problems.

Answer: This is the lack of the correct education, the correct vision of nature and everything that is in us.

Everything comes from the Creator. The most important thing is that “There is none else besides Him.” If we act only in this way, then there is no evil in the world and everything is created only for its correction.
