Quality Connection

938.05Question: We know that the closer we come to Lishma, the higher the likelihood that we will be heard throughout the world. In your view, what are we lacking in order to influence the whole world more strongly: quality or quantity?

Answer: We lack quality so that the connection between us becomes very strong. It will allow us to unite with one another and merge with our source, the Creator, in order to receive strength from Him and, through our connection with others, channel this strength to the entire world.

Questions about Spiritual Work—275

281.02Question: Baal HaSulam writes that as long as the nation of Israel does not come to the fulfillment of the Torah and commandments Lishma, the troubles in the world will not cease.

Over these years, we have had different appeals to the public, both to Jews and to the nations of the world. How do you see who this nation of Israel is, and to whom we must address ourselves?

Answer: It is those who are now attending our lessons and who wish, with our help, to attain the goal of creation.

Question: You said that we do not have the strength to influence all of humanity. Should we ask for this strength, or is it better for now to focus on the work in the ten?

Answer: We need to focus on the ten so that all your forces are inside it and you are ready to invest yourselves completely in its strengthening.

There Is No Reaching the Goal Without Clarification

278.03Question: Thanks to you, I have faith. Thanks to our shared work in the ten, we draw the light that returns to the source (the reforming light), which will correct us in the future. We invest in this every day, and you help us tremendously.

But why are we not advancing? What are we doing wrong? Maybe we are doing it egoistically, for our own sake? What is the reason?

Answer: If you were given the correct answer to this, you would stop asking and stop striving for it. This is, in principle, what is said in the “Introduction to The Study of the Ten Sefirot.

Baal Sulam writes, And RASHI interprets there: “You have created the righteous through the good inclination; You have created the wicked through the evil inclination. Hence, none are saved from Your hand, for who holds You down? Coerced are the sinners.”  And what did the friends of Job reply? “Indeed, you revoke fear and impair prayer before God; the Creator created the evil inclination, He has created for it the Torah as a spice” (Job 15).

RASHI interprets there: “Created for it the Torah,” which is a spice that revokes “thoughts of transgression,” as it is said, “If you come across this villain, pull him to the seminary. If he is a stone, he will soften. Hence, not coerced are they, for they could save themselves” (Kidushin, p 30).

That is, we are obliged to do this. Every phrase here is very important. Without this, it is impossible to reach the goal.

The Ten Is a Complete System of Creation

938.01Question: Can one see the world from end to end within the ten?

Answer: Of course, a ten is a complete system of creation, which contains no more than ten elements, and if all of them manifest among the ten friends, then you need nothing more. In your small ten you will reveal all the worlds, including the Creator. Outside of the ten, there is nothing.

That is why the book that lays out the Kabbalistic method is called The Study of the Ten Sefirot.

Question: On one hand, all of humanity is a ten; on the other hand, two people are also a ten. Can I choose the people? Suppose I like two people, and I try to implement the spiritual method with them. Is that a ten? And the other twenty or thirty people in the group, I haven’t reached them yet.

Answer: But later you will have to connect them as well.

Question: So I can choose a few people I’m comfortable with?

Answer: To exit yourself, one person is enough.

Question: So, in principle, there can be many groups of two or three people?

Answer: Maybe so, but it is better if it is closer to ten. More than ten, however, is impossible. A person cannot encompass more than that.

Question: Is the system arranged so that I have a ten and I don’t need to care about the rest of the world?

Answer: The entire world will gather inside your ten. Through it, you will receive everything the world wants to say to you.

The Creator Is Revealed in the Middle Line

629.4The left line signifies going with knowledge and seeing the world uncorrected. That is, I see that the world suffers from a multitude of problems, my friends are full of shortcomings, and the Creator is no better. I criticize everything because my desire to enjoy has grown and has become revealed, and I speak out of it. This is called the left line.

But this is a line and not a simple dissatisfaction with material life, I am criticizing spiritual work, the group, our progress, and the perfection of our work. The left line pushes me away from spiritual work, but does not completely throw me into material things. Otherwise, it will no longer be the left line but plain egoism.

The left line in my work indicates that I want to move toward connection with the group and the Creator, but I am unable to do so. I can weigh and count exactly what I cannot accomplish and why. This is called the left line.

The greater the frequency with which we reach the middle line from any state, the greater the progress and acceleration in our work. From these points, we build a middle line that gains such force that the Creator is revealed inside it.

The middle line does not exist in nature; we build it, and therefore it is said: “You created Me.”

If we do not help ourselves, no one will. After all, we are already in the ten, and in it, everyone is responsible for all. The Creator brings me to the right place and says: “Take it for yourself.” And if I do not take it, then I do not; that is my free choice. The Creator will not do anything else. Later He will help me through suffering, but who knows when that will be?

An Instrument for Revealing the Creator

938.01I must not agree with everything that happens around me because everything I see is perceived through my egoistic sensations. Yet I want to use all of it correctly to direct myself in the right way.

I do not seek to change reality or to leave it as it is; I want to change my perception, my sensations, so that I may see the true picture in which one force, one energy, one intention, one source, is revealed.

I do not strive to reveal the Creator directly, but rather to acquire the instrument (Kli) for His revelation. For how can I see something that is ten kilometers away from me? I need binoculars, that is, an instrument. And the instrument for revealing the Creator is the connection between us. This is where we apply all our efforts.

To the extent that we unite and focus together, the clarity of our vision increases. Then, instead of a blurred picture, instead of billions of people, animals, and plants, I begin to see more and more clearly the one single force and the one source.

The upper light is at absolute rest; what we need is only the instrument (Kli) for its revelation, an instrument whose qualities resemble those of the light itself.

The ten and the world group protect the person who is within them, acting as a buffer, an absorber, that softens external tremors, like the ten concealed Sefirot.

How should one respond correctly to each situation? I don’t understand what is happening, nor do I know what to do. The main thing is to integrate into the group as much as possible and use this instrument, and constantly tune myself in relation to the others.

Although I am only one individual Sefira within the ten, I tune it relative to the entire structure, and then I understand what is required of me. Just like a guitar string is tuned by comparing its sound with the others, so too must I constantly tune myself relative to the group; otherwise, my state will not change.

And after my friends have helped me tune myself correctly in relation to them, I must lift them up. Here my true work begins. This is a living system in which a constant process of exchange and interaction takes place.

My Ten Is My Passport to the Spiritual World

934First of all, one must connect to one’s private ten, and only afterward to the entire world Kli. My ten is my personal Kli, from which I cannot exit, to which I am connected, and into which I must invest myself. It is like a pacifier for a baby; once he grabs it, he immediately calms down and comes to himself.

That is how we should feel about our ten, as if without it we do not exist and cannot manage. It is my shield and my umbilical cord that connects me to Adam HaRishon, to the general system of all the worlds. By entering the ten, through it I am connected, like by an umbilical cord, to the common soul of Adam HaRishon and to the Creator who is revealed within it.

During the convention, I received a great desire from the large Kli. Having felt the whole world, I have to  bring all this force into my permanent ten. And each friend in my ten must bring into it his own impressions from the great Kli that was at the European convention. From all these impressions, our ten will seem to swell and become greater, and it will also feel a stronger connection with the world Kli.

This will happen every time after conventions, expansion and contraction, expansion and contraction, through which we will grow.

With all the impressions received from the great world Kli, I now come into my ten confused, and I must again find unity and connection within it. But this will already be a different connection because each of us comes filled with impressions from the great Kli, as if expanded, and therefore we must work anew on our connection.

There was an expansion, and now it must be translated into contraction so that our new connection will be much stronger than before, with deeper inner qualities. It is as if before, ten children were connecting, and now they are ten teenagers, and later they will be ten adult men.

Each time, a new quality of connection is attained due to the fact that after expansion we return to contraction. In contraction, it seems as though we return to the same state, but on a higher level.

The permanent ten is my shield, my beloved pacifier for the baby. Without it I do not exist. In the spiritual world, my ten is my passport.

Questions about Spiritual Work—267

548.02Question: We say that Akudim means connected. That is, when the properties are connected correctly, they form the correct Kli. Can we also say that we need to connect properly in our ascent from the bottom up?

Answer: Naturally.

Question: And then will a person in the unity of the ten reveal all these properties in the likeness of the Creator?

Answer: Yes, in the connection between us, we will reveal the correct form of the Kli.

Question: Why is the order of ten within a single Kli determined relative to Behina Dalet, rather than Behina Aleph, Bet, or Gimel, as a local criterion? That is, why is the determining axis tied to the root of the recipient, and not to the intermediate states?

Answer: What else can it be tied to? The most important thing is Malchut. If there is no Malchut, there is no Kli. Malchut is the desire to receive in the Kli, and it is the only one that determines what kind of Kli it is, the type and power of the Kli. All this is determined only by Malchut.

Question: Why did the breakage of the Kelim take place in the world of Nekudim, and not in Akudim?

Answer: In Akudim, all the Sefirot are, as it were, united into a single Kli, a single Zivug, a single dissemination of light. Therefore there is no reason for division. In the world of Nekudim, however, there is already a difference between the light and the Kli that receives it. That is why there is division in the world of Nekudim.

Prayer to the “Heart” of the Highest Degree

938.04We all understand how important prayer is, which emanates from our connection with each other, from a common heart. It has the power to rise directly to the Creator and enter into Him so that He will feel that we are all directed in only one direction: toward the connection between us and Him. Let’s hope that we will be able to do this. May the Creator help us!

The main thing is to achieve the right prayer, the right desire, by uniting all hearts into one heart, and from it raise our request to the Creator. We will try to create this common force, which is all directed at the Creator, and it will help us rise to the Creator and embrace each other. And then we will surely receive the same answer from Him. The Creator will embrace us all together and unite us into one body with this embrace.

Proper prayer is a request that comes from our common heart and reaches the “heart” of the highest level. Each of us joins this common heart, which aspires directly to the Creator and is included in Him. We have no other desire, and there is no other place for us but to feel ourselves at this central point of connection between all of us and in union with the Creator.

The task of every person at the congress is to find a way to unite with his ten and all the other tens into one big spiritual Kli, and to unite this common Kli with the Creator. That is, to unite into “one man with one heart” and thereby reveal the Creator.

We all cancel ourselves out and want to unite together into one desire in order to feel and reveal the Creator in this desire. Even if we are still far from each other, our desire to unite will bring us closer and raise our bond to the height of “one man with one heart.” And from this point, we will feel fused with the Creator into one whole.

Work In the Ten

938.02Question: Regarding the ten, is the reflected light our annulment toward the friends?

Answer: Yes, it all starts with that.

Question: How do we transmit the light in the ten?

Answer: Only in the ten can you transmit the light to each other. We study this through our work in the ten.
