See Friends as Corrected

528.03Each time we must choose the best possible environment, meaning, to see the friends as more corrected than what my egoism shows me. Naturally, this doesn’t mean jumping from one place to another. While remaining with the same friends, I must continually elevate their level in my eyes and value them more and more. This depends solely on me, not on them.

It is forbidden to discuss the spiritual state of a friend, only his external actions. In truth, we do not know the inner spiritual state of our friends. We only need to see what is happening with them and to help each one be in the most correctly inspired state possible.

Question: Am I not allowed to criticize a friend or say he’s in a descent?

Answer: No. We can only do this through the group: by the whole group rising, we lift him as well.

The Place Where the Creator Will Be Revealed to Us

528.01Question: We say that everything depends on the connection between us. But what is this connection?

Answer: We begin our spiritual development from a point that is outside of spirituality. And the whole time we remain on this point outside spirituality called this world in which we now exist.

Why? So that we would be independent from the spiritual world. The spiritual world is like a huge sphere, and we are now outside of it, off to the side. And then I can enter it, or I can choose not to. I am as if independent.

When the point in the heart is awakened within me, I begin to strive toward this sphere even though I do not yet picture myself as a tiny dot next to a huge, awe-inspiring sphere into which I wish to enter. But I am drawn to it.

With this desire, this yearning for spirituality, I come to a group. What is this group? Men sitting together, studying, talking, being inspired, discussing, singing, eating. Some sort of club—rather strange, but there are many such places in the world.

I look at this group as just an ordinary gathering of people in this world. Then they tell me: “You must connect with us, join the group, take part in all the activities, the duties, take on certain responsibilities, because we have a common work.” I am ready; what else can I do… After all, I see some benefit in it.

So, I connect with these guys because I understand that together we will apparently achieve something. Besides, I do not see any other place where I could do this, so I comply.

Gradually, over the years, I discover that in this place where I am, there truly is an inner connection. I come to discover this after several years. And those years were not in vain. They were years of my inner work, when I did not feel it, but the upper light was acting and performing many actions within me at great speed. Then I begin to hear. What does it mean “to hear”? I suddenly begin to pay attention, to give value to the inner connection between us, the unity in feelings, in hearts.

It is just that the time has come, and I begin to be moved by these words, to give them importance. This is the result of the light that had been working on me all those years, penetrating ever deeper into my heart, and the heart began to respond to these words: “connection,” “mutual guarantee,” “love,” “bestowal,” “as one man with one heart.” I begin to feel some inner responses to these words. For each word, there is a certain reaction within me; I sense the inner essence of the word.

More months go by, and more, and more. For this is how we correct our foundations, the Malchut of infinity within us, until I truly begin to draw closer to my friends. I now see them as companions on my spiritual path, and I understand that this path runs inward, into us, into our inner center, into our inner connection. And there, if we unite, we attain everything.

And if before I imagined the spiritual world as a huge sphere outside of me, perhaps somewhere far beyond the boundaries of the Universe, now I increasingly associate spirituality with my inner feeling, which is revealed in the unity between us.

This place does not exist now, but if we begin to connect with one another, we will create a new reality, which will be called “the place.” From these shared desires we will reach the place in which the Creator will be revealed.

Faith in the Creator Helps You Rise Above Your Desire

961.2Question: We go through difficult states where the ego convinces us that there is no unity, that all the friends are egoists, and only faith in the teacher and love for the friends help us get out of this.

Where can I get the strength here so that I have a desire to bestow as well?

Answer: It is faith in the Creator and not in the teacher or in the friends.

For now, we are still a rather weak force. But faith in the Creator, meaning the desire to feel Him, to be on the same wavelength with Him, will help you rise above your current desire.

What Makes a Script Successful?

41.01Comment: Researchers have found a formula for box office success of a screenplay. Films that follow a certain pattern make the most money; the pattern is a sharp fall and followed by a rise.

My Response: Of course, a “happy ending.” To do this, you need to create a drama and then gradually bring it to a happy ending. People cry and come out of the movie theater moved. Or when they finish watching TV at home, they feel content and joyful.

Question: Is it the same in Kabbalah?

Answer: It is the same in Kabbalah, of course. That is how it works: there is no rise without a fall, no love without hate, and so on.

This is the whole method of Kabbalah—ascents and descents. “And there was evening, and there was morning, one day.” It all starts with the evening, with night, with descent.

This needs to be learned, one must know how to control it so all ascents and descents are controlled, and a person enjoys descents as much as ascents. That is the thing!

Just like with scientists: achieving a result is good, applause, awards, all else. But the search, the suffering, the birth of everything new, this is pleasure, this is creativity!

Comment: An ordinary person wants to get out of misfortune as quickly as possible.

My Response: To do this, he needs to understand the general equation of nature. Everything goes exactly according to this sine wave. There is a special progression in this, and in this way, everything is created in nature.

Question: Can a person accept this?

Answer: It needs to be explained. But who is going to do it? That is the problem! There are no people to do this. Nobody has the strength to go up to people and start explaining it all to them, they just turn away.

Comment: It is easier to take antidepressants and disconnect. Or smoke something.

My Response: Smoking something is the future of humanity. But life will lead us. Nature is shaking us up; we are close to people beginning to listen because there is no other way out. Humanity will find itself in a state where, like a small child, it stands in the middle of the room, not knowing what to do, and cries.

Question: Where is that lifeline so one understands that this is a descent for the sake of a great ascent?

Answer: No, he should be really scared and cry out. He must find that he cannot calm down because no help comes from anywhere. There is no mother, no adults, no one to rely on. And all the time, a bear, a wolf, or something else keeps coming out from different corners of this room. Then humanity will begin to listen to what the Kabbalists have to say about it.

An egoist cannot listen to anything unless he is scared. This is the only thing that leads humanity to its goal. Through evil to good, through thorns to the stars, that is the only way.

Good luck to all of us in this!

Spiritual Vessel and Klipa

88Question: What is a true spiritual vessel (Kli)?

Answer: A true Kli is a desire ready for correction. I must fully clarify what part of it I can correct toward bestowal and what part I cannot correct and must simply restrict.

For example, I’m given a desire, and I determine that I can correct 20% of it toward bestowal, and 80% I must restrict and make Sof out of it, the end of the Partzuf. This would mean that I have corrected that entire desire. There are always both kinds of desires, but it must be clear to me what to do with each.

However, within me there may awaken desires that I do not understand. The light reaching me may be insufficient to illuminate all desires in every detail. Therefore, I am left with unclarified desires called Hash and Mal, Noga.

I am as if in a fog, and I must not touch part of these desires. I only need to keep them alive, like Klipot, to maintain some form of life in them. Such compromises I must accept out of helplessness and inability to carry out a correction. Thus, unlike clarified desires called “root,” “soul,” and “body”, these desires are called “garments” and “palaces,” meaning they are as if not mine, not my true desire.

Later, at the very end of correction, these desires will become truly mine. They will join what is called “brain,” “bones,” and “tendons,” and will become my single spiritual vessel, and will revealing that all reality is within me. Not as it is now where it seems to me that there is myself and an external world outside of me.

“Love Thy Friend As Thyself” Is the Main Law of Nature

631.1All the commandments of the Torah are instructions on how to fulfill the one main commandment: “Love thy friend as thyself.”

Therefore, it is called the general law of nature.

The rest of the commandments are essentially its components, indicating on different levels and in various circumstances how to carry out “love thy friend,” that is, how to unite with one another above the egoism that separates and repels us.

If the Heart Tells You

232.01Question: It is said that a person cannot do anything for the sake of the Creator. What about faith and the prompting of the heart when a person feels he can act for the sake of the Creator?

Answer: If one’s heart tells a person this, and the person listens to his heart and acts, then that is good. That is, he agrees to gather the hearts of the friends in his own heart and turn them toward the Creator.

Question: But the article says that he cannot. Could it be that I am mistaken?

Answer: Then you will feel whether you are mistaken or not. It is correct if we demand that such connections begin to awaken and work within us.

If the Group Is In Harmony

524.01Question: There are friends who lose the importance of spirituality during the lesson. How long should we keep making efforts to pray for such friends?

Answer: It is hard to say. It depends on the group. If the group is in harmony, connected, then they experience common ascents, descents, and movement forward. They feel each other.

In that case, their prayer is also common; otherwise, it does not arise.

On the Same Wavelength with the Creator

276.02Question: In the inner work, how can a person distinguish between the mind (Mocha) and the heart (Liba)? Where should he be above reason and where within reason?

Answer: It depends on how the Creator rearranges these perceptions, these sensors, within him, which of them is more defining and which is more important for him at that moment.

In accordance with this, a person responds to the Creator on the same wavelength.

The Request Comes from Everyone

282.01Question: Can we take the prayer of the Kabbalists as an example and work through it with you about how it is born from nothing, grows, and eventually becomes filled?

Answer: You should try to compose this prayer yourselves, each one individually, and then begin to unite them together so that, in the end, you have a prayer of many.

Then it will become clearer to you how to unite with one another in order to address the Creator. The Creator does not require much—the main thing is that it is of the highest possible quality. And you have that.

Question: Usually not everyone takes part in composing the prayer in the ten; it is the same friends, say three people. How important is it that each person invests in it? Or is it enough that these three express the request on behalf of the whole ten?

Answer: It does not matter. The request still comes from everyone.
