Question: Why are there so many myths about the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: The problem is that the wisdom of Kabbalah speaks in four languages. A normal person doesn’t understand the simplest language through which it presents everything.

But when we begin to train with the help of this special method, a person begins to descend into the depths of the concepts within the wisdom of Kabbalah, and then he begins to discover four special approaches in this language and he begins to hear and to see the inner meaning in it.

And someone who doesn’t study, but just reads what is written, he merely sees stories, tales, and legends.

The Torah (Bible) is written, in general, in a simple language, and everyone understands it as it is written. But, in fact, within it lie secret meanings known only to Kabbalists; moreover, it is impossible to reveal this to others; everyone must see and feel this for themselves.

So for thousands of years a multitude of myths have appeared around the wisdom of Kabbalah. And the Kabbalists wrote in a confusing way, not only because they wanted to conceal the wisdom of Kabbalah, but also because it was impossible to express what they felt and discovered in the upper world more clearly. So it follows that in principle the wisdom of Kabbalah is to blame for there being so many myths surrounding it.

Question: Did the Kabbalists intentionally confuse people?

Answer: No, not at all. But since they wrote about a world which we know nothing about, people began to imagine the upper world in physical giuses: as if people were people, animals were animals, and all kinds of objects and the whole situation, to an ordinary person it seems as if it is happening in this world.

But in reality, it is all a completely different system; one simply needs to study it. Kabbalists wrote for those people who want to study Kabbalah and ascend to the upper world. They had no other choice! That is how everything was designed.

When a person opens a Kabbalistic book, he or she can read all the words in it, but doesn’t understand anything. If I am not familiar with the upper world and read some description about it, I simply don’t know what it is saying. They use words of our world there, but what the author means, I don’t know.

Question: You say that Adam wrote the first Kabbalistic book. For whom did he write it? After all, he was alone, he was the first man.

Answer: Of course there were other people living in the time of Adam and before him. The wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t deny Darwin’s theory of evolution. Adam was one of the people living in his time.

He was born 5,776 years ago and we celebrate his birthday as the Jewish New Year. Adam was the first to discover the whole system of creation, the system of the upper world, which we study today and want to discover by ourselves just as he did. We are his followers.

In those days he had students and we are also called his students. In Hebrew man is called “ben Adam” – the son of Adam. All of us are the sons of Adam. His book is meant for all the generations that follow him!

Question: Was the book written in Hebrew?

Answer: Yes. Adam developed this language according to the spiritual powers he had discovered. He had to develop and process a suitable language in order to describe the upper world in the language of our world. This is how the Hebrew alphabet appeared. He wrote the first book in Hebrew called HaMalach Raziel (Secret Angel).

Since then Kabbalists write in Hebrew because this is the only language by which you can convey the complete information from the top down, from the upper world to our world. Writing Hebrew letters and the order of the words carry a special spiritual meaning in addition to the ordinary meaning.

There is a special book called the Tikkun Soferim (Correction of the Readers), which is about how to write correctly. In Russian it was once called “calligraphy.” I remember in school we were taught how to write beautifully to display the letters. According to Tikkun Soferim, the size, the length and the width of every letter, the order of the letters in a word, and the laws of building words from letters is a very complex system, but what is most important is the actual language. Words are created by the combination and place of the letters, and the words build a sentence.

Question: I have been interested in different spiritual beliefs and spiritual methods for over twenty years. At some point, I came across your books about the wisdom of Kabbalah and what they said matched what was going on in my life to such an extent that I wanted to read the sources, and in order to do so have learned enough words in Hebrew so that I can read the relevant literature.

Thus, I read Talmud Eser Sefirot and “The Tree of Life” in Hebrew. Of course I didn’t understand most of what it says, but I do have impressions of it that I remember. Lately, however, I began to notice many things and it was very similar to what I have read in Kabbalah books. I remember the Kabbalistic description of the world of Atzilut, which is an outcome of the Direct Light, and Atik through which Light from the world of Ein Sof (Infinity) passes to the world of Atzilut. I would like to ask you whether this is a Kabbalistic experience of what is described as the world of Atzilut?

Answer: Nothing of what you describe resembles what really happens when the upper world is revealed in the mutual attribute of connection and bestowal of Kabbalists. You need a true environment and a teacher.

Question: Can you give at least one example of how you can adhere to the Creator in our world?

Answer: A person has to feel it by himself on himself. This is the reason that the wisdom of Kabbalah is called the secret wisdom; it is impossible to convey it in an abstract, theoretical, verbal manner. You can only teach a person to reveal it inside him and then he will be able to understand what this wisdom is.

There are no secrets in the wisdom of Kabbalah. The secret is only the fact that it is concealed from our current senses and is revealed by each one according to his level of correction. It is very simple! In our world, for example, we don’t give a small child sharp instruments, things that could be dangerous for him, we make sure he doesn’t get hurt, or doesn’t drop anything on himself.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is about even sharper and more dangerous objects and forces. Therefore an intentional “blackout” was created so that we wouldn’t be able to touch them. Imagine you exist in a dark cloud and only if you work properly will this cloud gradually begin to fade, once in one place and then in another etc., but only according to the distance and the direction you can operate without harming yourself and others.

Question: I currently watch and listen to [your Kabbalah] lessons in Hebrew without translation, without understanding anything; and I feel immense pleasure and joy. This bothers me, what am I enjoying? Could it be that this is the way my ego is disguising itself?

Do I need to make an effort to listen in Russian, to understand what you are talking about? I enjoy listening to the sounds, identifying the vocal emphasis (the intonation), the unknown words and language, yet I feel very close.

Answer: Besides feeling the music with the heart, it is necessary to understand the meaning through the intellect, and the main thing is participating in a group.

Question: We study Torah and draw Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light) upon ourselves, arousing our Kelim to attainment. What would you advise your students: to fulfill deficiencies or to search for deficiencies?

Answer: They should enlarge the goal in the eyes of their friends.

It’s Important For All To Hear It

Question: You published an article based on Baal HaSulam’s “Introduction to The Book of Zohar” that talks about the internal and external parts of the people of Israel will undoubtedly cause resentment among religious people.

Will it trigger correction of the whole system and strengthen the inner part of the Torah relative to the external?

Answer: Baal HaSulam divided the people of Israel into the internal and external parts. The inner part is the people who are engaged in the internal part of the Torah with the intention for the sake of bestowal, i.e., Kabbalah. It brings us to loving our neighbor as ourselves. But the external part applies solely to those who observe commandments without intention.

If we study Kabbalah, we are on the path of the Light and benevolence. If we restrict ourselves to merely physical observance of the commandments, then we move from disaster to disaster as evidenced by the  ordeals endured by the people of Israel during the exile.

We want all the people of Israel to hear about this fact. It is very important that each person who has the opportunity to join the study of the internal Torah, i.e., Kabbalah, and attract the Returning Light to the people of Israel and through them to the entire world.

The article you mentioned will definitely cause a negative reaction, but it is difficult to remain silent. When we see a sick person who needs an urgent surgery, someone has to take a scalpel and perform the operation to extract a harmful tumor. Does a surgeon cause our indignation because he cuts the patient?

If we acted differently, we’d be like a little boy who cried when he saw a tailor “ruining” the fabric with scissors to make a suit.

Our current state requires correction, and pity is misplaced here. We need to understand where we are at this point. Nowadays, people are already prepared to listen. Time have changed since the Pharaoh resented Moses who in his opinion “excited” the Jewish people, rather than letting them work quietly for the Pharaoh. At this time, we are obligated to do our job as Moses and Aaron.

Question: I would like to register for courses at the Bnei Baruch Kabbalah Education Center, but what I heard on your lesson on Israeli television confuses and perplexes me; I realized that I don’t understand anything. This wisdom seems too complicated for me. Would registering for the course be appropriate for me?

Answer: I constantly repeat that Kabbalah is a wisdom that must be studied. It is impossible to explain this profound, rich, and ancient wisdom in a few words; half of the concepts are in the upper world, from where all the forces and bestowal descend into our lives.

And what is relevant to this world is also not understood until you know what is happening in the upper world; so you cannot explain from where some phenomenon suddenly appears. Since you don’t see the upper roots, you don’t understand how the phenomena are projected from there onto our world by the forces that descend from above.

When you begin to study the wisdom of Kabbalah, which speaks about the general nature of a person, about his inner essence, we attain ourselves, the world that surrounds us, and the interaction between them. We begin to understand how we influence the world, and how the world influences us. We grasp life more deeply, its flow, our inner desires and motivations. This helps a person to balance his life, to  look correctly at what is happening, and to understand the reason for his deeds and reactions to various events.

The wisdom of Kabbalah includes everything within it. There is no area that it doesn’t encompass. It can give an answer to every question: Why are we impressed by some music? Why is our language specifically constructed this way? Why is our body built specifically in this way, with hands and feet? Why do we organize a particular environment for ourselves and think that it is comfortable for us?

All of this can be revealed through the wisdom of Kabbalah because it begins from the beginning of creation, from the creation of desire. And then this desire developed and penetrated into our world, which is what we call the “Big Bang,” as a result of which our universe appeared and expanded.

Kabbalah begins from nothing, from the beginning of creation, and carries through all of human development, including our universe, together with the Earth that is contained within it and all of its history until the present day. And it doesn’t stop with this, but leads us on to the final purpose of creation.

When a person sees this entire process, he is able to manage the process and his entire life. He sees the complete perspective, all the way from beginning to end, and so he becomes an Adam (Man) and not a little child, which is what he is today, not understanding what is happening with him and only trying to escape the blows of fate.

Comment: Anyone who faces a great number of problems could be helped if the wisdom of Kabbalah could explain how to relate to them correctly.

Answer: In principle, each of us must find the answers to his questions himself. You must become a Kabbalist, reveal the upper world, see the system of management of our world, and if you have questions, you immediately will find the answers.

For example, a little child looks at a car and asks: “Why does this car have wheels? Why do they go around?” etc. When he gets older, he becomes familiar with the entire system, knows how a car is built, and he can answer any question that arises about it.

Thus, you will no longer be tied to your teacher, and you will begin to answer every question for yourself as you completely master our world from beginning to end, from its birth and after its end.

We are within the absolute force of nature, which includes everything and is eternal; that is, it exists above time. An empty space was intentionally created inside it so that we can exist there.

Kabbalists don’t engage in studying the upper force that is external to the space where our world is, but in attaining it in our world. However, they attain it only because of their equivalence of properties with it.

If we want to measure something, we build an instrument that can perceive these attributes. Therefore, in order to feel new attributes we have to create them ourselves.

There is no point in amplifying our sight by means of microscopes and telescopes, and our hearing by means of radar, etc. We will not attain anything that way. We have to create attributes in us that are similar to the upper world.

This is what the wisdom of Kabbalah tells us about. When we gradually create new attributes, we begin to feel the upper world in addition to our world. At the same time, we acquire an understanding as to where we are, what affects us, how we can change ourselves by changing the upper world, and not just to explore and study it passively.

Just like a person who is born in our world gradually attains it and at the same time can actively change it, so can we affect the upper world in addition to attaining it. This influence will only be positive because the system of our influence on the upper word is arranged so that it can convey only positive signals.

Therefore, it is impossible to cause any harm here. The wisdom of Kabbalah operates only in one direction. To the extent that a person resembles the spiritual world, he can affect it in a positive way and through it positively affect our world, which is under the upper providence.

Therefore, Kabbalah is the science of the management of our world through the upper world.

Question: What is the purpose of the creation of our world?

Answer: One can attain the whole system of management and through it the Creator of this system, i.e., the upper force that created our world, the upper worlds and who governs them.

The upper world consists of five worlds or five levels: Adam Kadmon, Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, and Assiya. They are all divided into five other levels up to 125 degrees. Accordingly, when we ascend these levels we can influence our world more and more and change it for the better.

But most important is that at the same time we can also ascend to a spiritual reality above time, space, and all the limitations of the physical world. This is the main goal of nature.

Question: What is the upper world?

Answer: The upper world is a world of forces. Our world is also a force field, a fact that quantum physics verifies. It doesn’t reveal matter but only energy and information. They form a field in which there are forces and intelligence hidden in these forces that operates them.

Question: Does this mean that when a Kabbalist looks at a person he sees energy and not matter?

Answer: A Kabbalist sees only forces in everything.

A vet, for instance, who examines an animal, understands that it is motivated by instincts. A psychologist who speaks to a person understands the forces that motivate him. It is the same when it comes to a Kabbalist who observes a psychologists or the vet and understands what motivates them or all the people as a whole.

The attainment and understanding of the system of management raise a person to the next level of understanding the universe. He begins to look at the world in a totally different manner. Kabbalah is the science of managing all things, because the creation itself is also a consequence of the control.

Question: In any study, there is a process of advancement. How can I assess my progress in the study of Kabbalah?

Answer: Progress in Kabbalah is when a person attains the material more closely and begins to identify with what he studies in the world around him.

He begins to see through the system of the world forces that manage this world and himself. This control system is called the general soul.

A person begins to realize how he can affect it, how it responds to his actions and influences him. He studies this whole cycle—actuating forces and receiving feedback. In essence, this is our entire life.

This is how we can get closer to the goal in a good way and not along the path of suffering. After all, what we feel in our life now is the action of the forces that lead us to recognize as quickly as possible the control system so that, ultimately, we become part of it and begin to manage our own lives so that there won’t be such troubles and sufferings everyday.

Everything depends only on us! We have freedom of choice precisely because we have the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Once a person recognizes and attains the system of control, he sees his states throughout his previous and future incarnations. He sees the whole way until the end of all the corrections. His is a life filled with meaning.

Question: How does that affect my daily life?

Answer: The moment you realize how to fill your life with an inner content at any given moment, what you do in your corporeal life becomes unimportant. You immediately begin to feel that you have something to do in life; every minute of your life, you gain something priceless.
