The Wisdom Of Kabbalah

laitman_265Question from Facebook: Why isn’t the wisdom of Kabbalah taught in schools in Israel if it is a science? Why isn’t Kabbalah considered alternative knowledge?

Answer: Kabbalah is a totally independent science and not part of it. The difference between the wisdom of Kabbalah and ordinary sciences is that it penetrates the world that surrounds us, enters it, and explores it. Humanity has aspired for that throughout its history and has eventually arrived at a dead end. All the sciences are in crisis.

We develop the earthly sciences through our senses, which are limited to begin with. Although we use instruments like telescopes, microscopes, etc., they enable us to extend the borders of our limitedness and nothing more than that.

The main problem is that we perceive the world that exists along three axes as a world that exists on a fourth axis, the axis of time. This is how we were created and we cannot exit this framework. We can expand or restrict time,  change the axis somehow, but we cannot exit this state. In order to do so, we have to ascend above our essence, whereas the earthly sciences do not enable us to do so.

While we exist in the scientific dimensions of our earthly framework, all the sciences developed as they explained man’s attitude to the world that surrounds us. Today, however, having reached a dead end, we begin to realize that there is nowhere else we can develop.

It is actually for this reason that the wisdom of Kabbalah is being revealed now. It tells us that we shouldn’t delve deep into matter, space, etc., but we need to go deeper into ourselves, see which tools we are using, and whether we can change ourselves in order to explore the world differently and see a different world.

Today, we feel the world we explore through our senses, through our tools of understanding and perception. This isn’t the same world that is external to us, but a world that we feel internally.

Here, for the first time, scientists throw up their hands and say: “We have to change man in order to achieve this, but how? We don’t know.” And so the next science emerges offering not to explore what is external to us but to explore ourselves; not to change the world that surrounds us, but ourselves.

As a result of changing ourselves, we will know what the world actually is. This will be a totally different science, a science of adaptation, a science of exploring the world according to a person’s level of attainment of the states and the attributes we are in, attributes we can change.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is first and foremost a science that changes man and accordingly describes what he feels, including our world. This is the reason that it does not engage in physics, chemistry, or biology and actually not what we feel in the standard state we are in now. The wisdom of Kabbalah engages in the knowledge of how to change ourselves internally and to feel the world by the changing states, as it is felt in a totally different manner then.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is available for everyone. It is actually today when all the sciences have reached their ultimate peak and cannot develop any further that the wisdom of Kabbalah is revealed saying: “Let’s change our view, which was once determined as a constant, fixed measurement, that a person doesn’t change and explores the world from inside himself. If we change this constant, we will see a world that appears before us and how we can explore it.”

This is a much wider and richer science, and because it engages in the next levels of man’s development, it reveals to man states that are not related to his body. Even if the corporeal body dies, the states that a person attains continue to exist inside him objectively.

We can read about that in the “Introduction to The Book of Zohar” and in many other sources. On the whole, the wisdom of Kabbalah is a very interesting method that explains the true theory of relativity, not Einstein’s, but the theory of relativity of our attainment and perception.

Help Create A Family

laitman_622_02Question: Is correction possible with asceticism and isolation? If not, then why is this so widespread?

Answer: This is widespread because people are used to this form of life. In ancient times, they behaved this way to allegedly “kill” the flesh. But this does not correspond  to Kabbalistic principles.

The mortification of the flesh doesn’t come from and has nothing to do with Kabbalah. Therefore, according to the wisdom of Kabbalah, one must not remain single.

We need to help single people organize their lives. By the way, helping to establish a family is a great Mitzvah (commandment). Therefore, the friends in a group, especially women, should help each other to create families.

Discovering Ein Sof

laitman_222_0Question: Does the wisdom of Kabbalah help a person to be creative?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah develops a person, even though it seems to us that it limits him. He simply sinks deeper into himself, and so it seems to us that he is apparently limited. He locks onto something specific and aims toward one thing.

The wisdom of Kabbalah prepares a person for a breakthrough to the spiritual world, and after the breakthrough, Ein Sof (Infinity) is revealed to him.

The Dualism Of Nature

laitman_562_02Question: There are many examples in physics that verify the fact that our nature is dual. It is the division of matter into material and energy particles, or in other words, into fermions and bosons.

All the objects and phenomena in our world are either binary or dual, and two forces are observed in every phenomenon.

All of the systems that physicists study are either absolutely balanced or aspire for balance. The two forces in the system must complement and balance each other in order to reach a balanced state.

Answer: According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, the world is also basically divided into two opposite forces—the force that bestows and the force that receives—and everything that happens is only the expression of the different variations of the relationship between them.

It Is Impossible To Survive Alone

laitman_543_01In the News (MedPulse): “A person, by evolution itself, is not programmed to survive alone. Therefore, we tend to imitate the most, and our health and well-being are directly affected by the presence or absence of social ties. …

“Employees of the University of Texas found that sick people who support friends or relatives recover faster and spend less time in the hospital after admission.

“Experts studied data of more than 119 thousand patients who were in rehab after injury, stroke, and various operations.

“It was found that those patients who were surrounded by the attention of family and friends needed less time to recover. Apparently, the positive emotion from communication has beneficial effects on health.

“Tolerance of pain is associated with the number of friends.

“In the journal Scientific Reports, the results of scientific studies were published [showing] people with many social ties seem to tolerate pain, more so than less ‘socialized’ individuals.”

My Comment: The science of Kabbalah spoke many years ago about the influence of the environment, mutual connection, and unity as the foundation of nature. Now in the 21st century scientists are finally coming to this. It is difficult for scientists to feel Kabbalah as a science. Only a person with a “point in the heart” is capable of that, someone with a special longing, which depends upon the structure of his soul.

I remember giving a lecture at the University of Miami to 2,000 students, after which I talked with 70 or 80 professors. I explained the main laws of Kabbalah to them. They nodded in agreement and said: “Yes, that is very interesting, so it is here with us too,” and we parted as friends.

I don’t blame them at all, because a person is given a longing for something, like a longing for music. Either he has this desire or he doesn’t.

For example, I have perfect pitch, but I never had a desire to study music seriously for ten hours a day. So the fact that I have perfect pitch doesn’t mean anything.

So it is in Kabbalah. If people have a point in the heart, they will come to study because they feel that there is something interesting here. After that, many of them see the abyss of work that they must do on themselves, and leave.

Question: What does this mean? After all, they have a point in the heart.

Answer: There is a Reshimo de Hitlabshut (information about the Light) and a Reshimo de Aviut (information about the desire). A Reshimo (reminiscence), which shines to a person, pulls him forward, and what he needs to sacrifice for this need is no longer in him.

Therefore, we are waiting for people who are oppressed by the meaninglessness of life. I’m waiting for such a person.

The Basic Law Of The Spiritual World

laitman_232_06Question: What is the mechanism for discovering the law of equivalence of form (similarity of properties) in nature?

Answer: The law of equivalence of form operates on all levels, but we don’t recognize that it is operating everywhere. If you and I have the same characteristics, we are close to each other, we understand each other. It is possible to describe this with physical bodies and also chemical elements.

However, the law of equivalence of form does not describe nature in our world because as a general rule, such objects (plus plus) reject each other, but it describes nature in spiritual space, what happens according to the degree of similarity of internal characteristics, not the physical.

In spirituality, there is only the getting closer and the distancing of objects according to the degree of similarity or difference of characteristics. This is the basic law of behavior in spiritual space.

Due to the power of this law, in our world we cannot discern characteristics that are not found in us. A person can see only what is in him. For example, a cruel person will not see kindness and mercy in others because to do this there must be a similarity of characteristics.

This is the reason that we don’t perceive the Creator as good that does good unless we are like that ourselves. The Creator is revealed only as a bounty of good and warmth, which are absent in us.

Question: Should this be accepted as an axiom or must one believe in the law?

Answer: At present, you should accept this as an axiom so that it will be used as the basis for what we do.

Through the Kabbalistic method, we gradually create a new sense. This sense will be somewhat similar to the characteristics of the Creator, and then we begin to discover Him within us to the degree of our similarity and equivalence with Him, until we attain Him fully.

Question: Is this the reason that it is so difficult for people to understand a Kabbalist?

Answer: In fact, it is impossible to understand a Kabbalist. Even a Kabbalist cannot understand another Kabbalist who is on a higher level because he is always limited only by the set of spiritual characteristics that are already created within him and he is ready to feel.

What Happens In The Upper Worlds?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: As a Kabbalist, can you tell us what happens in the upper worlds?

Answer: To do that you must study, because it is impossible to explain the entire system of creation in a few words.

This is a very complex system. It explains how the higher energy built our universe, the planet Earth, us, and how we are moving in a gradual manner from the lowest world to the attainment of the higher worlds, how we are changed, and according to our changes, how we attain the upper world more and more.

Moreover, our attainment is built on greater and greater unity. The stronger our unity is beyond the ego, the clearer our feeling of the upper world is.

Kabbalah Does Not Predict Anything

Laitman_065Question: Is The Book of Zohar considered to be prophecy? After all, it describes the future.

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t predict anything. It teaches a person how to achieve spiritual levels. When a person achieves this, everything that could apparently be called a prophecy becomes reality for him. The wisdom of Kabbalah explains how it is possible to advance and live in another dimension now.

Knowing Where To Step

laitman_760_2Question: A person who lives wisely needs to know how to take the next step so as not to fail or to fall. A person living in the corporeal world follows his heart and no matter where he goes, his next step is always on solid ground. What about Kabbalists?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah is meant only to give a person the opportunity to where to take his next step and how to advance as quickly as possible.
