HaVaYaH – The Structure Of Our Desires

laitman_548.02Question: What is HaVaYaH?

Answer:HaVaYaH” is the four-letter name of the Creator (Yod-Hey-Vav-Hey), which includes all of creation. Everything that is created and exists in the world falls under the four stages of the cascading of the light, which are called HaVaYaH or the names of the Creator.

The upper light, while passing through these four stages and building the entire universe, highlights the essence of the Creator, the Creator’s attitude to creation.

Question: If we take the matter of our world, for example, a table or a person—regardless of what it is—then the structure of any desire is HaVaYaH?

Answer: Yes. We just do not see it, do not notice it, do not feel it. Whatever the world is, big, small, macro, micro, no matter how we look at it, you can always see HaVaYaH in it.

Remark: Even in Kabbalah, the term “Adam HaRishon” is constantly used.

My Comment: The fact is that everything created in the universe, on the one hand, is called HaVaYaH and, on the other hand, it is considered a structure called Adam.

By Adam, we mean not a person in our world, but a system that includes everything. The Creator created creation in such a way that it ultimately comprehended Him—the Creator. Therefore, creation goes through developmental stages until it reaches the Adam stage from the word “adameh” meaning “domeh,” similar to the Creator. And, therefore, everything created can be called Adam.

In addition, Adam HaRishon is creation in its original form, which undergoes all kinds of transformations and comes to its final result.

Question: What is the difference between HaVaYaH and Adam HaRishon?

Answer: Adam HaRishon consists of HaVaYaH. But when we talk about HaVaYaH and how this structure reacts to the Creator and wants to become like the Creator, we call it Adam.

Question: That is, all of these things seem to be in potential form, and a person reveals them with his feelings just like DNA, in our world, contains all of the information for the development of the human body and the properties of a person’s character?

Answer: Yes. And then it is revealed.

Question: And what are the ten Sefirot?

Answer: The ten Sefirot are the ten parts of which any complete, corrected desire for bestowal is composed.

Question: What is the difference between HaVaYaH and the ten Sefirot?

Answer: It is the same thing. Although HaVaYaH consists of five letters; four and the tip of the letter yod, it is still ten parts.

“Is The Love Of Truth The Ultimate Spirituality?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Is the love of truth the ultimate spirituality?

What is spirituality? Spirituality is an opposite altruistic quality to our egoistic human nature.

The human ego—the desire to enjoy—is behind every thought and desire we have, and behind every action that we do.

Therefore, we perceive what we want to see according to the ego, i.e., whether we can enjoy something, or whether something comes to threaten our enjoyment.

This is why if we want to discover spirituality, i.e., to find out what surrounds us that is imperceptible to our egoistic perception, we thus need to recreate ourselves, and in the process of recreating ourselves, our environment holds primary importance.

In other words, since altruism is imperceptible and opposite to egoism, we thus need help from our surroundings to inspire, prod and motivate us to want to reach an opposite quality to our egoism.

When we make the shift from egoism to altruism, corporeality to spirituality, we will sense a new world that has always surrounded us, but which we could not perceive.

In the wisdom of Kabbalah, that new world is called “the spiritual world” or “the upper world.”

Our current worldviews are perceptions that have formulated upon our egos in order to comfort and shield ourselves in various ways.

“Truth” then becomes what coincides with our ego-based opinions.

We seek support for our opinions and repel what counters them. As such, we ultimately do not want to change ourselves.

How, then, do we reach a desire to change ourselves and discover spirituality?

If we fail to do so of our own accord, through positive means, i.e., by surrounding ourselves with an environment that supports the shift from egoism to altruism, then suffering will enter our lives more and more in order to show us that the purely egoistic direction we head in is problematic and that something needs to change.

However, suffering itself won’t lead us to change, but to a desire to change, where we will seek out different environments and influences than our current ones, in order to develop ourselves spiritually.

Why We Love Rest

laitman_237Baal HaSulam, The Study of the Ten Sefirot: It is known that each branch is like a root, therefore everything that is in the root finds justification in the branch, loved and desired by it. And that which is not in the root, from that the branch moves away, does not tolerate and hates it.

Everything that is contained in the Creator, and stretches to us directly from Him, is pleasant to us. That is, we love peace, because there is no movement in our root.

We love peace of mind because our root, the Creator, is at rest. Without realizing it, we feel the absence of inner peace because we do not coincide with Him in terms of properties, and this causes movement in us. If we knew which way to go, we would quickly find a state of rest.

Nations Of The World And A Point In The Heart

laitman_944Question: Is there a proportional dependence of our qualitative unification and the opening of a point in the heart in some of the nations of the world?

Answer: I would not say that there is such a division of the nations of the world when first one nation reveals a point in the heart, then the second, and then the third one. I can see this even in our groups.

Today in virtual communication with us there are Germany, Bulgaria, Israel, Vienna, Yoshkar-Ola, Petersburg, Almaty, Azerbaijan, Holland, Czechoslovakia, Moscow, many friends from Africa, North and South America, etc. I do not think it depends on skin color or nationality.

And even people who have already revealed Kabbalah and study with us generally perceive it in the same way. Therefore, it cannot be said that “points in the heart” will first arise in one nation, then in the second, and then in the third one. This happens in waves depending on the development of people. The Creator’s light affects them and highlights one or another person.

If you take a large mechanism, then all its points are connected. For example, all parts of a human body constantly interact, although they are not located next to each other and there seems to be no special connection between them. But feedback exists anyway, and each organ is activated through the inclusion of other organs. After all, this is an integrated circuit, parts of which are completely dependent on each other. Therefore, I do not support any conspiracy theories that say, this nation will reveal the Creator more quickly, and that one more slowly, especially in our time.

A long time ago in Ancient Babylon, there lived all nations of the world, each of which numbered several dozen people. Then from all the Babylonians a united group emerged, which began to strive for the Creator. It exists to this day, although many have dropped from it.

Several hundred people have remained from that group—those who today feel a craving for revelation of the Creator, and the rest turned into ordinary earthlings. And today the reverse process is taking place.

In the Torah it is written that the time of Messiah will come, of the last generation, when all the Babylonians will gradually awaken again in order to move to the Creator. This is what we are observing.

Just as the movement toward the Creator once appeared in a group of Babylonians, so it is happening today. Therefore, everyone will rush to Him, no matter who and how. In no case should we think that now it will be Finland, then Poland, and then Czechoslovakia, Germany, or Azerbaijan. Whatever will be, will be.

I am very glad that people are beginning to feel that the science of Kabbalah is talking about the soul, about their spiritual development. I hope that their studies of Kabbalah will promote the development of both their states and their nations.

Kabbalistic Terms: “Three Lines”

laitman_600.01The three lines are the core of the work of Malchut, the desire that builds itself in the likeness of the Creator. The right line is bestowal, the left line is receiving, and the middle line is their union in similarity with the Creator.

Question: We can say that the left line is my natural desire. The right line is a force that is outside of me that I must summon upon myself. When they merge with each other, do you get the third line?

Answer: There are many different types of middle line. That is one of them.

Question: In Kabbalah, there is also the term “12 tribes.” When speaking of the 12 tribes, everyone begins to imagine some people divided into tribes. From the Kabbalistic point of view, are we talking about three lines multiplied by the four-letter HaVaYaH, which ultimately gives 12?

Answer: Yes. It is the most complete HaVaYaH: four stages, three lines in each, which makes up the 12 tribes or a special kind of work of creation.

Conditions For The Correct Advancement

Laitman_165Question: Can a person be in a Klipa (shell) for a long time and mistakenly think that he is advancing, that he is corrected and that only his way is the right way? How can I help myself or a friend in such a situation?

Answer: If you are members of a group that studies only from Kabbalistic sources like The Book of Zohar, the writings of the Ari, Baal HaSulam, and Rabash, and perhaps even my books since they are based on the writings of Baal HaSulam and Rabash, you really do study the wisdom of Kabbalah.

By studying these sources together with a group, you advance correctly and consistently and you will surely reach the goal.

Kabbalistic Terms: “Zivug”

laitman_583.01Comment: When you speak about deeply philosophical topics, you suddenly use the words “love” and “bestowal.”

My Response: Not only. In the science of Kabbalah, such terms as “Zivug,” “adhesion,” and “copulation” are often used.

Everything that happens in our world in bodies, outside bodies, between bodies, etc. naturally occurs in the spiritual forces that control our bodies and our souls. Therefore, we must name all these actions and conditions specifically. We take the words expressing the actions of our world and call them spiritual actions.

Thus, the combination of two desires, we call Zivug, that is, intercourse, merger. In the spiritual world, there is birth, pregnancy, childbirth, and so on. In general, everything that exists in our world is a consequence of the upper world, and therefore, they have the same terms. In the spiritual, all this happens in desires, not in bodies and matter.

Question: So the same way atoms come together and a molecule is obtained, do desires also unite together?

Answer: Yes. As a result, more collected, more integrated desires come out. The desires that are collected in a specific HaVaYaH system are called Sefirot, Partzuf, and then Peace.

Kabbalistic Terms: “Yesh Mi Ain”

Laitman_144Comment: In Kabbalah, there is the term “Yesh Mi Ain,” which translates as “existence from absence.”

My Response: I would not translate this term at all. It’s better to leave “Yesh Mi Ain.”

Here, it is understood that everything that exists comes from zero—from the fact that somehow, somewhere, once in the field of high spiritual nature, a high mind, a plan for creation arose. And everything that follows from it descends and develops from this thought. Therefore, Yesh Mi Ain is what exists now, but once it was not.

laitman_600.02Question: If a person cannot be in a group because he travels a lot and is constantly on the move, but at the same time he reads books and studies the wisdom of Kabbalah, can he discover the Masach inside him? Can the environment he is in interrupt in this process?

Answer: Of course, an ordinary society interrupts a person’s study because it has different goals. A person needs a society that studies with him in order to advance, not the society he is part of in his everyday life. Of course one’s family, workplace, etc. do not disappear, but other than that, he should be in an environment that supports his spiritual development. It is impossible to advance any other way.

In order to study in the right environment, we have a huge virtual system and the materials in our archives are displayed on our sites for free, including books, movies, and practically all our materials. You can also participate in our daily lessons, which are translated to many languages.

But without the support of the right environment that advances toward a common goal, you will not attain anything.

Question: Does this mean that if one travels, it doesn’t necessarily interrupt his studies because there is a virtual society today?

Answer: Of course. In 1995 when I opened my first Kabbalistic site, it was not a simple matter. I used to sit and type every letter. This is the reason that everything is ready for all of you today. Visit our site, read, and grow! If you don’t, you will not advance. How can you picture your adaptation to the upper world and to the management of the creation if you don’t study?

Question: And if I wish to study but only from books, do you think that it is possible or not?

Answer: If you are only attracted to books, start “swallowing” them. But you should know that there is a great variety of other sources in our archive that will help you advance more intensively.

Kabbalistic Terms: “Reshimo”

laitman_527.12Reshimo is an informational record that exists in creation so that it can somehow orient itself in the past, present, and future, and direct itself toward the goal.

Usually people simply have an understanding of where they exist. And the elderly with dementia (memory loss) do not have this, so they just do things without any basis. In the same way, the Reshimo decisively commands a man and determines his forward movement.

A Reshimo is in the soul, at each level and sublevel. Where there is a desire, where there is light, there is always a Reshimo, which connects this light and this desire and controls them inside the soul.
