Questions about Spiritual Work—189

630.2Question: When a person tries to calculate a reward, but realizes he is not experienced and does not really know how to do it, he feels shame and awkwardness. How can he work in this state?

Answer: This is a wrong feeling. When one wants to get closer to the Creator, he can wish and say anything. And it will always be welcome in the eyes of the Creator.

Question: How do we achieve constancy in our need for inner purification from egoism?

Answer: Constancy can be achieved only through consistent work in the group; otherwise, you will never have a Kli (vessel) in which you can receive light.

Question: What should we regret?

Answer: Not being able to turn to the Creator all together, on our own, and ask Him to let us adhere to Him.

Question: What is the pure work of receiving for the sake of giving?

Answer: It is to receive only in order to give.

Question: How do we know the measure of giving to the Creator so that we give the same amount?

Answer: Give all you want, it will still be less than the measure He has prepared for us.

Question: What kind of regret regarding friends leads to genuine regret regarding the Creator? Is it a regret of not knowing how to support my friends or not seeing them as great?

Answer: It is any kind. In the end, you regret that you cannot gather together with friends into one single desire and give it to the Creator.

Work inside the Ten

Answer: It is born gradually from the fact that you pray together, turn to the Creator together, and thus form a united group. Then the Creator can feel this group. As a result, you will receive a response from Him.

Question: We do work in the ten and we come together with our hearts. How can we understand that the Creator evaluates our work? What should we focus on?

Answer: Focus on the fact that He is constantly helping you.

Question: Is it possible to clarify the states and desires we receive in thought within the ten?

Answer: Of course it is possible. Try it and you will find where the boundary is that you should not cross in your communication with friends.

Questions about Spiritual Work—188

234Question: What exactly is my effort? When the Creator puts me under strong pressure, I am forced to agree to not think about my own benefit, just to escape suffering. But when this pressure passes, can I apply inner pressure on myself?

Answer: That depends on you. Maybe you imagine your current state as perfect or as a future state. But in principle, it all depends on how you categorize it and what you do with it afterward.

Question: How does the state of inner balance work correctly?

Answer: Inner balance occurs when you direct all your desires and thoughts toward the Creator without deviating from this path.

Question: What is the spiritual driving force in the group?

Answer: The driving force in the group is the positive energy that pushes you to clearly determine the Creator’s attitude toward you, and from this, you develop a request to the Creator.

Question: How can I proceed when I need to put in the effort to transition to a new state, but there is fear of losing what I have and the expected future?

Answer: You should not have such fear. However, you must maintain some connection with the Creator, and at the same time, always feel yourself and your friends constantly drawing closer to Him.

The Common Heart

929A proper and solid foundation for building a spiritual Kli is a connection between you that cannot be imagined in this world.

It is a purely internal connection between all hearts in the group, where together you represent a single pulsating heart. This should be the shared feeling among you. Ask the Creator to feel the one heart together.

Question: How can we check the essence of our unity in the ten?

Answer: It is very simple. Gather together, imagine that you are in one heart, and from that heart alone desire to speak with the Creator and, in fact, with everyone in the world.

Toward a New Communication Structure

938.07Question: What are the correct stages of revealing the Creator from a state of descent?

Answer: We need to constantly focus on ensuring that the revelation of the Creator is always maximal, anticipated, and that it brings us joy. We must recognize a descent as something coming from the Creator and for our benefit.

The evil that is revealed must be accepted as coming from the Creator, as it is written: “I have created the evil inclination, and I have created the Torah as a spice, for the light in it returns to the source.”

Therefore, the Klipot (impurities) and various impulses unrelated to the Creator are necessary for us to continuously strengthen our unity above them. We need to build such a structure of connection between us that fully reveals the Creator.

Comment: Knowing that the Creator is good and does good, it’s hard to blame Him for giving us evil.

My Response: He purposely made it this way so that we would get confused, feel the need for His help, and desire to reveal Him precisely despite our egoistic desires.

Don’t Deprive the Creator

630.2Question: How does a person’s spiritual development happen? Does one begin to find joy in both spirituality and corporeality? Or should there be no joy before entering spirituality and then a sudden shift to spiritual joy?

Answer: No, a person can find joy in their small achievements or insights that they experience on the way to fully developing their desires.

Question: Some people in the group have a certain fear of rejoicing in our unity and connection. But there should be joy in the fact that we were able to unite and feel some upliftment, right?

Answer: Of course. It is foolish to think that it is not good to rejoice. If you do not rejoice, you deprive the Creator.

Four Qualities in the Soul

506.3Question: The four types of plants used during Sukkot—citron, palm, myrtle, and willow—symbolize four degrees we must go through. So why is it said that we must unite them? Aren’t we, on the contrary, striving to move from degree to degree? What is the essence of this connection?

Answer: The essence is to gather from each type what is essential in it for connection into a single bundle. This is a spiritual action, where we gather all four types of desires that can be attributed to bestowal. By uniting them, we receive a complete set of qualities that elevate us toward the Creator.

Question: In the process of spiritual work should we collectively search within ourselves for all these qualities of the plants, or should we find only the one we are currently on?

Answer: Find one of these qualities at a time. Then continue to strive toward a higher quality until you encompass everything.

Question: How can we correctly receive the manifestations of all four types in the soul?

Answer: According to the writings. In each of Rabash’s articles, something is discussed. You need to collect the actions described in each article, connect them together, and in the end, you will achieve complete correction.

Joy Should Not Disappear

549Question: Sometimes in the group, there is a certain condemnation for not being able to rejoice in the same way as your friends. Which is better: to artificially pretend to be joyful or to stay silent?

Answer: There should be no artificial play. You should be happy about what the group is happy about.

Question: Could it be said that joy is naturally linked to intention, and when the intention gradually changes, joy may disappear as one moves on to deeper inner work?

Answer: Joy should not disappear.

Question: So we just have to look for it?

Answer: There is no need to look for anything. If you are engaged in deeper spiritual work, you will also experience its consequences more deeply.

What Does the Creator Want the Most?

938.02Question: I feel like we do not have enough time to work in the ten because there is so much to work on and it is unclear where to start. What does the Creator want the most?

Answer: The Creator wants us first and foremost to feel united within the ten.

This unity should create a platform on which we stand, and it should never slip away from under our feet.
We should all fit on this platform, even if there are hundreds of us, hold each other’s hands, and strive to fill ourselves as much as possible with the light of the Creator.

When we reach such a state, we will experience a special feeling where it does not matter what happens next. What matters the most is that we hold on to one another. That is all.
