Who Should Be Educated First?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: At what age should the education of a person begin?

Answer: Future parents should be educated first and they should continue their education for eternity. By the time a child is in kindergarten, it is too late to educate him or her if his parents have not received a proper education.

A child’s path to understanding the concept of “creation” should start before his birth. Future parents, even prior to meeting, should know why they are getting together, why they will bear children, educate, and raise them. This system of knowledge influences the future child because it precisely coincides with the development of the fetus in the mother’s womb, which develops according to the same integral laws of assembly from the mother’s substance.

The understanding of the world’s harmony by parents creates harmony in a child by influencing his or her physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

Question: Why doesn’t a person feel the lack of education?

Answer: Because it obligates a person and we do not want to take any obligations. It hurts our ego, our desire to rest, to sleep, to have fun” “Is it not enough that I educate my children? Do I also have to educate myself and educate my wife?”

Question: Nonetheless, we do many things in life, which we do not like, but we see some benefits in them and do them anyway. What is the benefit of this education?

Answer: Tremendous benefit! The benefit is obvious even to an ordinary person. He just does not know how to do it right.

Question: Are there examples of good education in the history of human development or in our time?

Answer: I personally do not see such an example except the one of our small Kabbalistic society. The overwhelming majority of our children enroll into the university at the age of 14-15.

That speaks about how they are educated. They are taught to study systematically, become scientists, specialists, seek knowledge, and acquire proper communication skills with each other. They are educated in circles, which allows them to feel mutual support and build a solid, united, and friendly society.

A Child That Has Been Brought Up To Bestowal

Laitman_511_01Question: What will happen if a child who has been brought up with building relationships of bestowal finds himself in an ordinary egoistic environment? Will he be laughed at and hurt by others?

Answer: No, a child who has been brought up to bestowal knows how to behave properly everywhere. Such children don’t get lost. On the contrary, they get along and become mediators in society, and egoists feel they need them. Moreover, they gradually soften the society they find themselves in.

Question: Does that mean that they become leaders in that society?

Answer: No, they become the vital connecting element.

Only Education

laitman_539Question: What measures should be taken when dealing with negative social behaviors such as stealing, aggressiveness, or violence toward others, and so forth?

Answer: No measures should be taken, except for education.

According to the Torah, humanity should not use any punishments accepted in society today such as sending a person to prison, and so on, and instead, only educate people.

A person who has broken the law should be given a certain task, and if he performs it, he does not have to be punished.

Generation Gap, Part 1

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: The eternal topic: fathers and sons—the gap between generations. Why are we so different and do not understand each other? Every 10-15 years a new generation comes, and it is different from the former by its perception of the world. What will help us live in peace with each other with all the differences of views?

Essentially, the generation of fathers has built the entire material basis for our lives, and succeeding generations are less and less compelled to engage in materiality and are more committed to internal human research. How deep in reality is the gap between generations?

Answer: The gap between generations needs to be measured not in quantitative indicators, but in qualitative ones. And this is very difficult because to assess the quality you need to measure the deficiencies: What is this generation aspires for, what is most important for it, that is, what is its scale of priorities?

If we take clear, basic desires: food, sex, family, money, power, and knowledge and measure at what level they stand in each generation and what their priorities are, then we can compose a picture of each generation. But I do not think that someone was engaged in such research.

The wisdom of Kabbalah studies human desires, but does not compare generation to generation. For it, this is not so important. We know that humanity is constantly moving forward, in fact, approaching a great crisis.

In the end, desires for food, sex, family, money, power, and knowledge will not give a person any fulfillment, and he will want to develop above them. The wisdom of Kabbalah is intended to help in this.

And as long as humanity will not engage in such development of man, he may get stuck in ephemeral material desires for many years and even centuries. We always think that at the next level of desire we will grasp the essence of our life. As if it is there in wealth, in honor, in knowledge that the mystery of life lies, and that by revealing it, we will become happy.

So humanity gradually ripens, until it finally gets disillusioned in all its development, which essentially spun between these six basic desires. But we can shorten the time required for our development. We already see that development leads us to a global crisis, leaving a person completely devastated and swearing that it is better to die than live such a life.

A person cannot live without pleasure, but modern man will not be able to receive pleasure because the egoistic desire completed its development. Man is left without desires, in despair, and does not know where to continue further. But Kabbalah explains that all human evolution from the very beginning was absolutely a lost cause.

Realizing this, we reduce our ordeals for many hundreds of years and avoid wars, disputes, great suffering, and tragedies on the level of individual, the family, and the state. With the help of integral education, Kabbalah can lead humanity to realization of all its mistakes, without having to go through them all on its own skin.

And this is what Kabbalah advises people: give a person the right education as soon as possible so that he understands that the race for six material idols: food, sex, family, money, honor, and knowledge does not promise any success. Then this race will be short, thought through, and will quickly end, giving a beneficial result, that is, leading to the realization of evil.

New Life #79 – Cancer
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Summary

Cancer developed in parallel with the development of humanity. Cancer is a copy of the relationships between people and reflects a flawed humanity spiritually.

The essence of the illness is the hostility of the cells toward the body.

Education for good relationships between us heals the root.

Educate Children To Be Human

laitman_604_03Question: How can a woman determine what is necessary for the home and family and what is superfluous?

Answer: If a woman works on herself correctly and understands a little about psychology and education, then she will not behave irrationally. She needs to think about how to raise her children so that they will be human, that they will be able to continue on their own after that.

Everything is rapidly changing today, and by the time those children grow up, there will be completely different professions and occupations. The most important thing is to educate them to be human so that they will always relate to life, to others, and to themselves correctly.

Education Determines A Person’s Fate

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion from Facebook: You keep saying that education is the answer to all the problems both of the individual and the world. But people have been saying that for decades, and despite the many organizations that engage in education, life goes on according to its own laws.

Answer: Life goes on according to the laws of egoism. And we must act so that it will flow according to the laws of altruism: love, bestowal, and unity. No one does this and no one can.

The only one who succeeded in this 3,500 years ago was Abraham when he called all those who wanted to overcome the universal social humanitarian crisis that broke out in Babylon. He founded a group of people who joined him and clung to him, and he called it Israel or the Jewish nation.

Abraham became the first father of the new system of education of unity. This group has existed since then for 3,500 years, and cannot be divided or disappear! It stands against all the other nations of the world, the same Babylonians who spread and settled all over the world, and everyone feels that there is something special about them.

All we have to do is to start teaching this method to the entire world because the world already understands that there is no other choice and that the main thing is unity since, otherwise, people will destroy each other.

Question: Are you referring to the entire Jewish nation when you speak about a group that knows this method?

Answer: No, all the Jews have lost this method, except for Kabbalists who have been leading and implementing it from one generation to the next based on their own experience. If they lead this education system and supervise it, humanity will reach its good end. It will reach complete unity.

Question: Do you believe that people will listen to that?

Answer: If they don’t, there will be several serious wars that will involve such sufferings that they will have to listen. But the wise foresee these sufferings from afar and does not enter them.

Are We Guarded From Above? Part 3

Dr. Michael LaitmanA human being exists in this world under the constant influence of two opposing forces that push and develop him, like an embryo inside a mother’s womb. There are no coincidences in life.

Every event is planned and programmed by nature, even as simple as a child breaking a plate. Everything, from beginning to end, unfolds according to the plan of creation.

The more we study nature, the more we are convinced that nature is a closed, integral system that follows strict laws, not permitting any coincidence. But a human being perceives the unfolding events according to the level of his development, that is, to the degree to which he is either in agreement with nature’s system of control, or not.

An average person knows nothing of the upper governance system; he just moves through life instinctively and unconsciously. He complies 100% with all commands of the system and has no free choice, not one freely chosen action, thought, or desire.

This is why it is impossible to judge him and say that he deserves some kind of a reward or punishment, because he grows almost like a tree in a forest, according to its nature and the surrounding environment.

Question: Where is nature leading a person?

Answer: Nature wants a person to become familiar with its system, plug into it, and begin to consciously interact with all of it. Nature is called the “Creator,” the upper force, and it holds us under complete and continuous control.

Question: Does this system control each person individually or all together collectively?

Answer: It is general and individual governance because everyone is included in one integral system.

Nature is a tremendous system that is developing toward a state in which all its aspects—inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human—are interconnected correctly, consciously, and with understanding and from within this connection are able to reveal the upper force of this system, its “brain,” that has been operating in it from the very beginning, but was concealed.

When a person reveals this force in nature, he identifies himself with it and adheres to it. This is the ultimate goal of evolution in nature, on all its levels. To adhere to nature means to take upon yourself all its control, correction, all its functions. A person begins to act instead of the Creator.

Everything remains the same as before. But before, the upper force (the Creator) governed all creation: inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human levels, all of whom were not aware of it and instinctively obeyed its commands. But now, a person is aware of the influence that is being exerted on him from above and he begins to behave like the upper force, that is, he begins to merge with it.

Re-Education Instead Of Punishment

Dr. Michael LaitmanRemark: Many years ago there was a case when a thief robbed an apartment and along with other things, by mistake picked up the book Kabbalah. After reading it, he quit his old ways, and his fate changed drastically.

Answer: This has to do with one’s freedom of choice. A person has to see and feel what he does in life and what his true realization involves.

He has to realize himself in this world and do it himself, not someone else.

That is why the concept of prison does not exist in the Torah. Imprisonment cannot be punishment because it restricts a person in his realization. It’s necessary to work on a person so that he develops a desire to realize himself correctly.

In ancient times there was a system of re-education, not punishment! Offenders got bailed out, and they all had to undergo a very serious rehabilitation course.
