Why Are We Criticized?

laitman_547_05Question: I am amazed by the relatively massive criticism that you and your organization receive.

Answer: I don’t agree with you. I am amazed by the relatively little amount of criticism that we receive.

After all, we tell the world what people hate most of all, that they must rid themselves of their egoistic nature and acquire a new, altruistic nature, not the fictitious altruistic nature that we often see in our world, but the true altruistic nature that has nothing to do with our egoistic nature. A person cannot even imagine what that is.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is called the wisdom of truth, and it is about love for others only regardless of yourself. We must reach the state of love of others through our own yearning, not by coercion. Now is actually the time that such a period is beginning in human evolution, and our organization is aiming at creating the right conditions for bringing humanity to this state.

But who likes to hear about that? This is the reason that we have so many critics. Although they don’t understand anything about this method, it is the actual goal that arouses such hate in them. We, on the other hand, must continue to reveal the essence of the wisdom of Kabbalah according to our sources to the entire world.

What Is The Uniqueness Of Our Organization?

laitman_269Question: In what way is your organization unique and different from other organizations?

Answer: We are different not only from other groups and methods but from all of humanity, from the whole nature of this world, because it is totally egoistic.

Today, everyone in our world wants to control others and swallow them, whereas we want to ascend to the next level of our development, which is defined as love and bestowal. This means absolute altruism, when a person performs acts of bestowal unto the world not because he is born that way, since we were all born as egoists, but because this is what the Creator tells us to do, not for one’s self.

We are opposite and different from all the religions, beliefs, and philosophies because the wisdom of Kabbalah teaches a person how to devote himself to the world by performing the main commandment of the Torah, to love thy friend as thyself. We must first exit ourselves in order to do it.

It is enough to take a look at what happens in our society in order to find out that everyone has actually abandoned the main commandment of the Torah of love thy friend as thyself and everyone cares only about their self interest. This is the reason that we seem so strange and why people don’t understand us.

The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches a person how to change his nature from receiving to bestowal and how to discover the upper world and the Creator in the attribute of bestowal. When a person starts to study he doesn’t understand that yet because once he realizes that he has to go against himself he is offended and may turn against us and the wisdom of Kabbalah and even become our rival.

This is the reason that there are so few who study and acquire this wisdom and reveal the Creator.

Jews Are To Blame For Anti-Semitism

laitman_547_06In the News (polosa.co.il): “According to a study conducted by the French Fund for Judaism, 6 out of 10 French people believe that the Jews are to blame for anti-Semitism. Within a few days, [the French Fund for Judaism] surveyed more than a thousand Frenchmen as to whether they believe that Jews are at least partially responsible for the anti-Semitism in France.

“An affirmative answer to this question is 59%, with 3% expressed confidence that on the Jews is a ‘very large share of’ responsibility, and 14% said their share was ‘substantial.’ More than half of respondents said that the Jews have a lot of power, and that they are richer than the French average. 13% admitted that, in their opinion, France has too many Jews, even though according to statistics the number of the Jewish community is only 1% of the population.”

My Comment: The anti-Semites are right: the Jews are to blame for the hatred against them. The hatred of Jews is both natural and real, and exists in places where there aren’t even any Jews and in places where they don’t even know what a Jew is.

This is because the hatred toward them stems from nature itself, from the Creator, because in relation to the Creator, the Jews who aren’t corrected, are in opposition to Him.

If they would change and reach the opposite state, i.e., bestowal, connection, and love between themselves and toward others, then in accordance, the hatred of the Creator would immediately turn into love for them. This is mentioned many times in the Torah.

How Can We Change Our Society?

laitman_938_03Question: My friend listens to your lectures and finds them very interesting. The problem is that he cannot advance in his study since he works 14 hours a day in order to provide for his family and his kids; he cannot change that. When your organization affects what happens in the world, will my friend and others like him join the process of correction?

Answer: Our organization will be able to affect what happens in the world when many people like your friend join us.

Question: However, there is no way that he can join you.

Answer: He can join us, just like everyone else. He can begin to learn how to connect and how to turn our society into one whole through the wisdom of Kabbalah. When part of society begins to unite, it will affect all of the others.

Kabbalah explains how we should unite so that a special force will appear between us, like small signal that enters an amplifier and exits much stronger. This is exactly what we can do with our society. We need to learn how to unite a small number of people who can change the whole system, the whole country.

We don’t operate according to socialistic principles or any other movement from the left or the right side of the political map. We live according to the education method of the wisdom of Kabbalah that teaches us how to coexist with all of humanity and be compatible with the laws of nature, in cooperation and unity. Since we are trying to get closer to the level of connection in nature, an enormous force of overcoming is revealed in us through which we can do everything.

Question: Does that mean that it is enough to understand the idea and to support it?

Answer: Basically, yes. This is the reason that your friend need not leave his job in order to study the wisdom of Kabbalah in depth. It is enough if he is in contact with us. There are thousands in our organization, all working for a living, who simply study how to connect correctly in order to attain the force of overcoming so that we will really be able to influence all of society.

Is It Worth Expending Effort On Procreation?

laitman_629_3Question: According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, we shouldn’t waste energy on attaining temporary corporeal desires. My daughter absolutely refuses to have children because it takes up vital resources. Is she right?

Should we expend energy on giving birth to the next generation?

Answer: This is a very logical and relevant question today. A person who gets married in his 30’s will have to take care of his family in the following 20 years until his children grow up and are able to take care of themselves and become independent. This means that instead of spending the best years of his life on his spiritual development, he has to dedicate them to bringing up his offspring, not knowing what they will live on and how they will make their living in the future.

Is it worth it? We may say that according to our current lifestyle humanity has to make sure that it continues to exist. People have to work and to invest their energy in having a family and bringing up their kids and, at the same time, they should implement the wisdom of Kabbalah in their spiritual development.

The wisdom of Kabbalah wasn’t given to us so that a person could study for 24 hours a day or during all the time he doesn’t work. By providing all his basic necessities of living, working, and having a family, he will fulfill the connection between himself and the rest of the world as the system of creation and nature require.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is a practical science. Some who study engage in it as a profession. They begin to work with the population, become instructors or Kabbalah teachers. The ratio of ordinary teachers in our world compared to the population is one teacher for every fifty people, while the number of Kabbalah teachers is much smaller, and without them we will not be able to manage in the future.

Our aspiration is reaching the point of having  a great number of Kabbalah teachers so that for every 50 people in the world, there will be one Kabbalist who will lead their team, teach, and take care of that group. Gradually all of humanity will be divided into different groups headed by a Kabbalist teacher. These teachers need to continue studying, developing, and improving their skills, while ordinary people will have to fulfill what they have received like a student who graduates from school, leaves his teachers, and implements what he has learned.

The Revival Of The Ancient Wisdom

Laitman_115_04Question: What is the destiny of the Israeli nation, which is undergoing difficult times now?

Answer: If the Israeli nation wants to survive, it must implement the method of salvation that it has and pass it on to the rest of the world. In his time, Abraham discovered this method of integral unity of all of humanity.

Abraham, being a priest in ancient Babylon, engaged in the ideological education of the people. Suddenly, he noticed that people had become very egoistic, hostile, and intolerant toward each other. He began to study what was happening to his people and realized that egoism was growing. He described the method of coping with egoism in his book, The Book of Creation.

Egoism is the natural force of nature. It is said that the Creator created the evil inclination, but at the same time gave man the opportunity to extract the force of goodness that is concealed in nature.

In other words, our world exists only in evil, but if we want to, we can balance it by the good force that is concealed in nature. This is attained by the connection and unity between us. The more we strive to get close to one another, despite our egoism, the more that the connections established between us will reveal the good force and balance the evil force.

This balance is actually what we need in order to exist. This method is called the wisdom of Kabbalah. Abraham discovered it and began teaching it to his students, and thus the nation of Israel was born from this group and lived in unity for 1,500 years, keeping the principle of “Love your neighbor as yourself,” and then fell from this level to unfounded hatred. It has been in exile ever since.

But the method of unity has remained. It is in the wisdom of Kabbalah, although the people didn’t even know. For many years, the wisdom of Kabbalah was considered a secret wisdom that was concealed because no one had a need for it. Today it is coming back to life because humanity has reached a state where it should be used, not only by the nation of Israel, but by all of the people on earth.

The New Humanity Is Born In Suffering

Laitman_115_06Comment: Currently, the world situation is very tense: Terrorist acts in Paris, the downing of the Russian airliner in Egypt, war in Syria. One gets the feeling that everything is falling apart.

Answer: We have entered into a completely new period that the wisdom of Kabbalah calls “The Last Generation.” This speaks of the last egoistic generation that must be replaced in the next level of existence with a new regime, a new humanity.

But the birth of something new is always painful; this is what we are experiencing now. It is the birth of a completely new humanity, which ends the egoistic state. For thousands of years we have developed with the help of the ego, and now we must move to a new level of development in which we will balance the ego through the good forces of nature.

The wisdom of Kabbalah speaks about this. It appeared 3,500 years ago in ancient Babylon where a crisis developed that was identical to what we are experiencing today.

In those times, all of humanity was concentrated in a small part of the earth in Aram-Naharaim (northern Mesopotamia), and the people who lived as one family suddenly felt themselves interconnected with hostility, major opposition appeared among them, which we call the Tower of Babel, great mutual hostility towards each other. They weren’t successful in tolerating this any longer, so they defined a domain for themselves and scattered all over the world.

Some of them, a few tens of thousands of people, joined Abraham who called for everyone to rise above the egoism that was raging within them. Later, he took them out of ancient Babylon and founded an ideological group that began to live according to the teaching of Abraham, according to the principle, “And you shall love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18).

Since then, humanity scattered all over the face of the Earth. For a long time things were good and at ease for us, and now we have come to the same Babylon, meaning we have again become locked in, but now this is all around the Earth and we have nowhere to disperse.

And this is the entire problem: We are again dependent upon each other egoistically, the world has become a small village and we need to find a way out of the situation that has been created.

So now again the wisdom of Kabbalah has been revealed, which was hidden from humanity since the days of ancient Babylon due to the lack of necessity. Today it is taught by 1,800 faculties in the world. It speaks about how we need to adapt and learn the method of “And you shall love your friend as yourself,” and at least learn to accept others as ourselves.

The ego dwells in everyone regardless of sex, age, political views, and religious aspirations.

We see how much the younger generation does whatever seems good to them; people cannot get along and live with each other, families are destroyed, problems appear on all levels, even on the political level. The influence of the ego puts humanity into very strong antagonism.

It follows that, on the one hand, it is tearing us apart inside and we want to stay away from each other, but on the other hand, the flow of nature, our evolution, connects us with each other. These mutually conflicting tendencies arouse enormous tension in the world and fears of how this might end up.

Why Does The World Need The Wisdom Of Kabbalah?

laitman_254_01Question: Why do you teach the wisdom of Kabbalah, what does it give you?

Answer: I am carrying out a mission, this is my job. I teach the wisdom of Kabbalah to people all over the world who listen to me, are familiar with the Kabbalistic sources, and don’t want to spend their lives in vain. They realize that this ancient science, which is almost 6,000 years old, speaks about the foundations of our world and about how we can attain the upper world during our lifetime.

I believe that this wisdom is crucial for mankind and that the source of all our sufferings is in not knowing what the meaning of our existence is. People need to know and to find out about it at least in order to live a better life and to ensure a better future for our children. This is especially true if a person has the opportunity to exist both in our world and in the upper world that is eternal and whole.

Through teaching Kabbalah I offer people a chance to be saved from the sufferings and I am very happy that I have a chance to do that.

At the same time, I suffer greatly when I see how the world suffers and what happens in the world every day. After all, the more developed a person is, the more he can see that the world can be different, people enjoying and rejoicing together instead of people destroy one another. It is felt as terrible personal suffering.

Therefore something must be done to enable every human being in the world to reach a change through his or her own correction.

laitman_750_03Important Definitions: “Israel” and “The Nations of the World”

Question: What does “Israel” and “the nations of the world” mean?

Answer: Israel are those who are directed strictly to the Creator (Yashar-El). People that belong to Israel have a point in the heart that shines in them, that is, a point inside the ego that seeks an answer to: what the purpose of life is, why we live, what the goal of creation is? All these questions lead to Kabbalah.

The nations of the world are those in whom the point in the heart has not yet been revealed; this is why their actions are triggered by pure egoism.

Points in the heart opened in some people in ancient Babylon, at the time of Abraham, and the same is happening in our time. This aspiration of one’s heart defines Israel.

Further, the historical people of Israel emerged from the same group and departed ancient Babylon with Abraham. They came together based on a feeling that made them stand out from all the Babylonians: they had the same desire, the point in the heart. So they joined the Abraham, who led them out of Babylon.

The souls of those that once rallied around Abraham underwent numerous reincarnations and currently constitute contemporary Jewish people. Due to the endless afflictions and pain they went through, a corrupt egoistic desire concealed their points in the heart; however, the points are still there inside them, only hidden.

In Shamati #199, Baal HaSulam wrote: Every man of Israel has an internal point in the heart, which is considered simple faith. This is an inheritance from our fathers, who stood at Mount Sinai. However, it is covered by many Klipot (shells), which are all kinds of dresses of Lo Lishma (not for Her Name), and the shells should be removed. Then his basis will be called “faith alone,” without any support and outside help.

So, this is why the first ones who we appeal to are the Jews. Actually, we address the same pool of people. Contemporary Jews represent only two tribes of Israel; the other ten tribes are spread among humanity and are concealed from us.

However, it is not important: Anybody who feels aspiration towards the goal of creation is called “Israel” in accordance with the most accurate definition of this word based on unity of the group that originated in ancient Babylon.

These people do much more for the cause of correction than a regular Jew who has an Israeli passport and lives in Israel, but doesn’t feel any aspiration towards the goal of creation. The more one corresponds to the spiritual definition of “Israel,” the more good one can bring.
