Dear Friends!

As a result of the attempt of the interested parties to tarnish the name of the association Bnei Baruch – Kabbalah La’am and to label it with untrue facts, we consider it necessary to clarify that we will persist and continue the mass dissemination of the value of unification. We will do everything to avoid unnecessary conflicts, but the main thing is to continue to openly demonstrate, despite all the defamation and slander, that the principle of uniting people over all differences is a solution to any problem and any crisis.

From the great Kabbalist Baal Shem Tov, through Ramchal, Rambam, and Rav Kook to Baal HaSulam, during the lifetime of all generations, Kabbalah faced resistance and Kabbalists faced persecutions. Naturally, opponents of Kabbalah La’am, the world’s largest non-profit association for the study of Kabbalah, also appear.

Over the past 22 years, none of the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of students in Israel and throughout the world, cannot claim that someone has inflicted on him deliberate harm or has shown him deliberate disrespect. At the same time, it is clear that among hundreds of thousands there are also those whose expectations we did not meet.

As a pluralistic association Kabbalah La’am is open to everyone, and everyone has full freedom to choose the framework of their spiritual pursuits. We stand for a life full of meaning and joy, based on love for one’s neighbor. This is the essence of our studies and activities. Any other version that the interested party is trying to spread is wrong and false. We will not play into the hands of disunity and disinformation.

In recent days, social networks are spreading a promotion of the program that will soon be shown by the broadcasting corporation “Kaan,” a video full of defamation and slander of the association. We deemed it necessary to share with you our official position and clarify the facts that we will pass on to the media and all comers.

Statement: Kabbalah La’am is trying to get into politics.

Truth: The goals of the non-profit association “Kabbalah La’am” are to study and disseminate the wisdom of Kabbalah. Our goal is to spread the value of unity based on the principle of “love your neighbor as yourself,” which is the supreme principle of Kabbalah.

The Kabbalah La’am association has never participated in political actions. Tens of thousands of our students are professionally employed in various fields, and in the nature of their activities, many of them promote a variety of initiatives and ideas. Being in constant search of ways to raise positive values ​​of unity in the people of Israel, some of our students put forward an initiative to use a political platform for a wider coverage. This initiative was implemented in two cases:

• In 2013, several students, residents of the city of Petah Tikva, created a list to run for the City Council and promote the idea of unification and mutual guarantee in the city. To this end, they established the association “Be-yahad le-ma’an Petah-Tikva 2013.” About 12,000 people voted for this list, and it became a faction with four mandates.
• In 2014, several students offered to promote the idea of unity of the people by joining the ruling party. They initiated the accession process and attracted thousands of people to the Likud party.

Accusation: Kabbalah La’am uses libel suits to suppress criticism.

Truth: Freedom of speech is part of the core values ​​within the framework of the Kabbalah La’am association. We respect any creative criticism, but we resolutely reject any false and tendentious statements that are malicious in nature and are aimed at destroying the association. Evil and lying statements are among the main factors of dissociation and hatred. Promoting unity and love, we are not ready to allow anyone to undermine the ramified and beneficial activities of Kabbalah La’am, discrediting and defaming its good name. The very wisdom of Kabbalah obliges us to answer. The name “Kabbalah La’am” is a respected brand created over the years by hard work and it is enjoying great sympathy in the broader Israeli society. It is important to emphasize that in all cases when we decided to apply to the court to protect our good name, the defendants were obliged to apologize to us publicly and to remove offensive publications.

Accusation: Kabbalah La’am controls the actions of its students. It is also alleged that among other things, illegal or immoral acts occur that lead to personal problems, separation from the family, discrimination against women, use of pills, and other malicious inventions, such as ignoring a suicide case.

Truth:

• Kabbalah La’am is a pluralistic organization that accepts everyone who wants to study the wisdom of Kabbalah. It is administered exclusively in the spirit of the Kabbalistic sources that teach us how to build relationships based on compassion, care, and love between the person and others, in the family, and so on. Nobody interferes in any way with the personal lives of millions of our supporters and dictates to no one how to live and how to behave in life. Our house is open and we act with directness and transparency. All lessons and activities are filmed and broadcast to the general public, and everyone is invited to evaluate and decide what form of studying and degree of involvement suits him.
• All activities of the association are controlled by the accounting firm, as well as government departments such as the Registrar of non-profit associations, tax authorities, and so on, who have repeatedly checked our association and decided that its activities are conducted in accordance with the rules of proper, accountable administration. It is important to note that paragraph 46 has been approved for our association, which is granted only to those associations that operate with full transparency under strict supervision by the Registrar and the tax authorities.
• It is enough to visit one of our meetings or one of the events to see how important women are for us. Women make up about 60% of the students who study in Kabbalah La’am, and they are equal to men in everything!
• Dr. Michael Laitman was previously involved in counseling and treatment with alternative medicine. In the framework of this activity, patients from all over Israel and the world visited him. The granules that were used as part of this therapy are homeopathic dragees, widely used in the field of alternative medicine.
• You can think of many more stories, but every sane person understands that if they contained at least a grain of truth, they would have long been in the media and the courts.

It is important and relevant to emphasize that following the deceptive and defamatory reportage, we filed a libel suit against journalist Gur Megido and the public broadcaster Kaan. Since then, in order to get out of the legal difficulties that he is facing, Gur Megido devoted much of his time to setting up an “investigation” of the activities of our association, allocating hundreds of thousands of shekels of taxpayers’ funds for this.

The result of this more than six-month long “investigation” is a set of fictions and false libel, partly already disproved in court. They are submitted by interested “presenters,” who for years have been doing their best to harm the association and publicly tarnish it. Some of the characters appearing in the report were removed from the association’s activities because of their unacceptable and non-normative behavior, which in some cases was even a criminal offense. According to the principles of Kabbalah, we consider it our duty to appeal in the court to make the truth public. We will continue to act in the same way in the future, including the case with this report.

Kabbalah teaches us that the path to general correction includes two opposites, the negative and the positive. Therefore, we are glad that our spiritual progress is also manifested in the resistance to Kabbalah, which the greatest Kabbalists encountered throughout history. Let’s hope that we will be able to use this resistance in order to further strengthen the spread of the wisdom of Kabbalah in Israel and in the world.

At the same time, as an organization that proclaims a “one family” as its main value, we regret that we are compelled to participate in such conflicts.

Question: Resistance to Kabbalah began back in the time of the Baal Shem Tov, and was provoked by the appearance of many related misconceptions: the Sabbatean movement, when Sabbatai Zevi declared himself a Messiah, Frankism, etc.

They used the Ari’s method and made a surrogate out of it, which attracted a lot of people to them. This caused fears against the Ari’s method and Kabbalah in general until today. How can these historical stereotypes be dispelled?

Answer: If you are looking for an excuse for accusing a movement you do not like, you can always find one. It is the same as when anti-Semites accuse Jews of all possible and impossible sins. It is the same aspiration to oppose the power of bestowal.

Is the Ari’s method to blame for the fact that Sabbatai Zevi took several proposals from it? There are many fictional theories supposedly based on Kabbalah: medical practices, cameos, magic symbols, notes, blessings. All of them use some terms from Kabbalah to show that they allegedly have power.

But we understand that there is no power in them, and eventually this emptiness will unfold, if not in this generation, then in the next one. All false stories die, except true Kabbalah. Kabbalists continue practicing the same method at all times, adjusting it to their generation and passing it on.

Baal HaSulam revealed the Ari’s method to the point that it had never been revealed before, and thus, wrote the Talmud Eser Sefirot, which is a commentary on Ari’s “Tree of Life” and also  The Sulam Commentary on The Book of Zohar. It is impossible to elaborate more on this method. And Rabash revealed work in a group for us, which had not been done before. Even the leader of Hasidism the Baal Shem Tov did not leave behind a single book about his methods.

By studying the wisdom of Kabbalah, we follow the methods of Baal HaSulam, and we use Rabash’s method to implement it in work in the group. If someone does not agree with this, then he will always find an excuse for accusations. But there are no other Kabbalistic books that describe a clear Kabbalistic method.

Ultimately, all resistance to Kabbalah is in favor of Kabbalists and only does harm to the accusers themselves. Criticism, published by ill-wishers, turns into another form of spreading Kabbalah. Gradually it becomes clear that opponents of Kabbalah have no idea about it and are not in spiritual attainment, and therefore, all their accusations are far-fetched.

Their attitude will not change, but will become even tougher as we approach the end of correction. This is called the “war with Amalek” when we spread the law of love of one’s neighbor as oneself, which is taught by the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Kabbalah appeals only to unity. We implement it through practical work in groups of ten, as Moses once did. The method of unification, which we obtained from Kabbalists allows us to reveal an upper force between us. Man exists in this world for this very purpose.

Question: Kabbalah says that a person can reveal the Creator in this world. Religions claim that one must believe in the Creator, and then you will find Him in the next world. Nevertheless, no one rushes to reveal the Creator, no one is even interested in that it can be done now, in our world. Why is it this way?

Answer: Our present egoistic qualities push us from the upper world, from the attainment of the Creator. We don’t want it, we want to remain in what is convenient and good for us.

People do not aspire to the science of Kabbalah because they are created in properties opposite to the upper world. That’s that.

Man is not attracted by it, he does not have a direct desire for this, and he does not feel the need inside himself. When I am offered a delicious cake, walk, dance, to watch a good movie or a football match, it is all clear. We have these informational records.

Question: It is not a natural desire to understand the upper force?

Answer: No. Why do I need it? It is better to stay away from it.

Question: On the other hand, isn’t there immense motivation? Any person over twenty years old knows that his life will certainly end. It’s scary. But something covers this fear and doesn’t allow him to reveal the Creator, and eternal life?

Answer: The fact is that despite fears, interests, and everything else, people still do not run to study Kabbalah because egoism stands in their way. It doesn’t fit into our pyramid of desires, which include food, sex, family, wealth, fame, power, and knowledge.

Question: Why didn’t the Creator install such a program in us so that at some stage of our development we would want to attain Him?

Answer: Even when you start moving toward His attainment, you see it as a question about the meaning of life: Why do I live? What do I exist for? What is my life? What do I need the Creator for? Me, I am! This is how it reveals in us.

Answer: The Kabbalist does not control the world at will, as the opponents of Kabbalah claim. He does not control anything, but only teaches people how to come to a good union and even love. The goal of Kabbalah is to teach a person love, because we correct the world by a good connection between all.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is a very practical method. Especially people of Israel need it because of anti-Semitism, hatred, and pressure. But all of humanity needs it too. The study of Kabbalah cannot be harmful. Only those who do not know the laws of nature can claim the opposite. That is like scaring a child with a monster so that he will not go out into the street. There is no point in these claims.

People who do not understand this wisdom, disseminate their methods, teach it incorrectly, and cause all the problems related to Kabbalah. There are many kiosks in Tel Aviv where they sell books that they claim are about Kabbalah.

Therefore, do not worry too much about the opponents of Kabbalah. We are on the battlefield of two forces. And in fact, this is not a struggle, as it seems to us, but a form of communication and correction. In this way we can study these two forces—when one is based on the other.

But at all times, a Kabbalist who lives in this generation has no chance of being recognized by his contemporaries and understood by the people. How is it possible to understand him if he belongs to the same generation? Everyone else is at such a level that they are not capable of this.

But after a while, there is a softening. Some gradually start to understand the Kabbalists of the last generation and there are some who are even engaged in spiritual work but still cannot understand his followers.

That is why even the Ari was not accepted by all the Kabbalists of his generation immediately. The renewal that every Kabbalist brings to the world in his time is not necessarily revealed in other souls. That is why it is difficult for them to agree with him.

Each generation reveals a new layer of informational genes (Reshimot), and there are souls in this layer that are more developed and are already ready for correction. and therefore, these people go all the way. And there are those who are still on the borderline and can wait.

They say that Kabbalah is the right teaching but not for them, and maybe they even do not agree with it. That is, they feel some relation to Kabbalah and, at the same time, separation and hatred appears. They begin to protest against Kabbalah.

People who began to study and then left also become opponents of Kabbalah because they need to justify themselves. Their Reshimot have not matured yet. And if a person has not corrected his desire to enjoy, then he must justify himself as to why he left the correction process.

At all times, the egoistic desire wants us to feel that we exist, that is, that we are right. Therefore, their criticism of Kabbalah is inevitable. There were a lot of such cases in our time and in the past.

On one hand, humanity always hangs on to the brink of balance. On the other hand, there is a higher governance, which, I hope, will not allow various hot-heads to press the red button.

Baal HaSulam, The Last Generation: “The only counsel to prevent this is by all the nations adopting the regime of perfect communism, meaning altruistic. Needless to say, today, after the discovery and use of atom bombs, and the discovery of hydrogen bombs, it is no longer doubtful that after one, two, or three wars, the entire human civilization will be totally ruined, leaving no relics.”

It is hard to scare us with this today. People are used to this idea and live with the understanding that tomorrow they may not be here.

Comment: Psychologists consider a person to be an irrational being, incapable of being affected by logical arguments. But here, Baal HaSulam uses an example of war as an argument for people.

Answer: That which is known to the psychologists is of little interest to us. Their knowledge has no effect on the world. We, however, the people who move toward the revelation of the Creator can do a lot and can tilt the world to a positive side.

Question: Does Baal HaSulam mention these wars as evidence or does this proof have a deeper meaning?

Answer: A person has the means to end his life on Earth. However, he does not take into account the effect of the upper governance, how its directives are manifested inside him. The notion that we can destroy ourselves is a fact. However, humanity is used to it. It does not realize what it is moving toward.

This state is connected to the immortality of people, the immortality of the soul, and the immortality of our existence. There is no death; there is only death of the animal body, which we need in order to reach the next level. We are given a certain timeframe to reach this level and to continue to exist in it.

The wisdom of Kabbalah and Kabbalists have undergone special development throughout history because the desire to enjoy needs to grow and thus show that material progress is useless.

And every time, the wisdom of Kabbalah must adjust itself to coincide with those people in whom it is revealed, that is, with the people of Israel, the group founded by Abraham.

We see that the wisdom of Kabbalah was available for use by all people only for a limited time when it was revealed inside the people of Israel in the time of Moses. And this was accompanied by numerous arguments, clarifications, and wars within people.

Then, after entering the land of Israel—when Moses left the people and his pressure disappeared—the people of Israel began to descend from their spiritual height. At that time, religion and rules of behavior in the material world emerged, which copied spiritual Kabbalistic laws in matter. People began to create “idols” and “holy things” for themselves.

People went more and more into material traditions, and as it went, the wisdom of Kabbalah came out of it and disappeared. After the destruction of the Second Temple when people fell out of brotherly love into unfounded hatred, Kabbalah completely went into hiding.

One must understand that no one teaches love for one’s neighbor except the wisdom of Kabbalah. Although the principle “Love your neighbor as yourself” is the main rule of the Torah, the Torah itself—which is the wisdom of Kabbalah and the wisdom of Light—no longer exists in the people of Israel. It turned out that the people are in exile from the method of love and unity. The understanding of what the upper force is—the people of Israel, and their mission and development goal—has vanished.

Today, we are already in the very end of days of the genuine exile and on the verge of liberation. In each generation, Kabbalists were revealed that were suitable for that time or for the next generation. We need to understand that the actions of Kabbalists and resistance against them is a consequence of development.

Cruel forces rose against the wisdom of Kabbalah. But, there was a division between religious people. On one hand, there were Hasidim and, on the other, their opponents the Mitnagdim, and many other branches and movements. Kabbalists were also divided into those who were more concerned with the right line or the left, according to man’s nature.

Before the time of the Ari, Kabbalists followed the school of Ramak. Then, Ari’s method was popularized. The next important stage in the development of Kabbalah began with Baal HaSulam because there is a big difference between what was before and after him. Then, Rabash (Rav Baruch Ashlag) developed Kabbalah further. Baal HaSulam and Rabash prepared the method of Kabbalah for our generation.

Each time Kabbalah’s method improved and consequently, its opponents rose, rebelling against the new method, the “new Torah,” and the “new religion.” After all, people do not understand what Kabbalists’ actions are based on. It is very important to learn what claims are raised against Kabbalah to understand what to resist and how to turn these supposedly evil forces into good and useful ones. All this should help us realize the general process by which the Creator leads the created beings to bring their desire to complete correction.

We see that humanity develops under the influence of two forces: support and opposition, pros and cons, driving force and resisting force. It is natural for any development that there is expansion and contraction all the time, like inhale and exhale.

At any given moment, these two forces act because the right development is impossible without a balance between them.

Kabbalah and Kabbalists develop according to their generation. Sparks emerge in the broken vessel of the soul. These sparks are ready to resurface from the fragments of the soul, and they demand correction.

People in whom such sparks awaken feel the need to reveal the purpose of creation, the upper force, the Creator, and to learn about the universe. They seek to rise above ordinary life so as not to remain within their broken desires but to live just for the sake of the spiritual sparks.

Although these sparks are broken, a person feels that they need to be revived. Therefore, there are many forces inside a Kabbalist: sparks, spiritual genes (Reshimot), and desires related to correction, that is, the properties of bestowal.

This process began with the first man Adam. And then more and more people, from those who felt the need to discover and comprehend the purpose of creation and to belong to the upper power and the upper system, joined him in each generation. So, from Adam descended the entire line of Kabbalists who developed the method of revealing the Creator to the created beings in this world.

Kabbalists were those created beings who revealed the upper force. And since spiritual sparks and desires awakened in many people, Kabbalists also spread the wisdom of Kabbalah, which evoked different reactions.

And even a simple study of Kabbalah awakens two opposing forces in a person: the desire for and against the revelation of the Creator. After all, a man is a broken desire to enjoy, an egoist, and inside of him is a spark that demands a gateway to another dimension, to another level—the intention to bestow.

This spark refers to a different life, a different world. Therefore, a Kabbalist has two inner worlds: sometimes he is dominated by the force of bestowal and sometimes by the force of reception. He always goes through ups and downs as two of these opposing forces constantly work in him: sparks and broken desires demand their realization. In this way a Kabbalist develops, sometimes in the right and sometimes in the left line.

The same rule applies to a person and his environment. Abraham, the first Kabbalist who began spreading Kabbalah to the masses, met with strong resistance from his father Terah and his entire former school, as well as from the ruler of Ancient Babylon, Nimrod. The resistance was so strong that he had to leave Babylon.

Resisting Kabbalah is natural, because nothing develops without it. We see in the example of the inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels of nature that the whole evolution happens as a result of struggle, and it couldn’t have been otherwise.

Therefore, Kabbalists are patient toward Kabbalah’s opponents because they realize that they receive them from above and that it is the Creator who organizes all these protesting forces. But at the same time, as representatives of the force of spiritual development, they need to resist material and egoistic development.

Opponents of Kabbalah fight it in every possible way, but Kabbalists understand that all this resistance is arranged by the Creator who controls these forces, and therefore, the answer to it must be appropriate. In the end, we need to act for one purpose only: to reveal the Creator to the created beings in this world, which is the goal of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Kabbalah is revealed for this very purpose and it is impossible for one to unfold without the other, as progress and resistance are based on each other.

Therefore, one must treat Kabbalah’s opponents rationally, realizing that from the moment the Light created darkness, that is, when the altruistic desire created the egoistic desire, these desires were opposite to each other, but they must develop together. After all, the Light also develops when it enters the creation, organizes it, and builds up more and more diverse connections in it.

Therefore, one must treat all criticism creatively, with understanding. And although the opponents of Kabbalah brought many misfortunes to Kabbalists, on the other hand, all these forces act according to the program of creation.
