A Small Point Containing the Entire Universe

929Consequently, as long as the individual is troubled with concerns for himself, he is unfit to begin observing the Mitzva “Love your friend as yourself.”

The spiritual structure is perfect. It cannot be that one part of it works and another does not because the integral inclusion of everyone in everyone determines the conditions that are both necessary and sufficient for everyone to be completely corrected. That means that each person must feel their inclusion in absolutely everyone and everyone in them.

Apart from the small particle Malchut, which is within me, everything else is from everyone else. Only one point of Malchut within me is mine. Therefore, it can only work to unite everyone within me. Your point of Malchut is intended only to unite everyone within you. And so on.

The integral system presupposes a simple combination of its parts where each part consists of only one point, which annuls itself and works entirely for the sake of bestowal. And what does it give? That which it receives from the Creator. And to whom does it give it? It gives it to all those points within it from all the other parts. It is all simple.

In principle, no person has anything except what they receive from the Creator and what they give to others. And who are they? Nobody, a zero. But they make themselves this way; they receive everything from the Creator on one side and give it all to others on the other while themselves are a conduit from the Creator to the others. That is the work of each element of the integral system. That is what we must achieve.

And then there is nothing to fear, think about, or discuss. One must simply be a transitional element from one to the others—from the Creator to the creations and from the creations to the Creator. That is the best state where everyone is free and perfect!

In this state, there is everything from all creation—one attains a complete sense of the Creator, the entire world, and all souls within themselves. On one hand they are equal to Adam, the collective soul; on the other hand they are within the filling of this soul. Thus, everyone includes both creation and the Creator within ourselves, even though we are merely one point.

We Have Something to Return To

942Once, we were all together in one desire, in what is known as ‘Adam’s soul,’ filled with light. Then that state fragmented and in each of us remained a spark of that light, which used to fill us with the qualities of bestowal, love, and mutual connection.

Now, it is just a spark without a course, without any direction. Therefore, we can say that there is something in us, but we do not know what.

The questions arise: what can we ask from our friends, and what can we absorb from them to fuel this spark and turn it into a light that fills my great desire, which will help us return to that same soul to immense desire and fulfillment?

From our past state, we retain Reshimot (spiritual informational records) that we have something to return to and something to start with.

So we must urge and prod each other to truly desire to find ourselves in that state again.

Feel the Common Soul

237Question: You said that a person has nothing of his own, only what he receives from the Creator and what he can give to others.

If everyone should feel the common soul, at what point does he begin to see it from beginning to end?

Answer: We will feel the common soul when we become a spiritual embryo. That is the first spiritual degree we aim to ascend to.

As soon as we reach the first degree of connection, we will immediately begin to feel ourselves as a single whole at the level of Aviut de Shoresh, that is, at 1/125th of the entire soul. Nevertheless, it will be a feeling for all of us together.

Dimension in Spirituality

115Question: When we mutually integrate into each other, we will feel unity 620 times stronger than it was initially at the formation of the common soul. Does this state also include all levels: inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human?

Answer: This refers to the spiritual dimension. Therefore, if you are talking about the common soul or about some particular attainment, then in spirituality the particular and the general are equal. A part is not a part of the whole, but the same whole.

The 620 parts are practically the entire spiritual Partzuf, attainment from Malchut to Bina. But in principle, these 620 are further divided into dozens of parts.

248 parts from Bina to Tifferet (RAMACH) and 365 from Tifferet to Malchut sum up to 613 parts (TARYAG) plus seven additional parts, which are a total of 620 parts (TAPACH). But 620 are the parts of the soul into which it is generally divided, and each of the parts also consists of 620. Thus, spirituality always consists of 620 parts.

Just as a person has all sorts of small and large organs, bones, and tendons so does the spiritual body.

When we perform some spiritual actions of bestowal, of approaching, we constantly renew and correct these desires. And how this happens, we do not yet feel and do not know, but we will later definitely see and attain it.

Attain the Common Soul

929There is indeed only one soul in the world… .That same soul exists in all the children of Israel, complete in each and every one, as in Adam HaRishon, since the spiritual is indivisible and cannot be cut—which is rather a trait of corporeal things.

Rather, saying that there are 600,000 souls and sparks of souls appears as though it is divided by the force of the body of each person (Baal HaSulam, Article “600,000 Souls”).

Every person has a soul, and this same soul is present in everyone. We cannot truly imagine this. It is like the theory of relativity—not everyone can grasp what it describes, and the spiritual world is even more challenging to comprehend.

There are several principles that we accept on faith because Kabbalists speak of them from their experience. Until we cross the Machsom, the barrier separating our perception of our world from the perception of the spiritual world, we cannot fully understand them.

In the spiritual world, there is only one soul that exists in each of us and in all of us together. It is not that if the soul is in each person, it is a small part of the collective soul, and if it is in everyone, it is one collective soul. No, it is one and the same soul.

Everything depends on how much a person reveals this soul. In other words, the extent to which he acquires the quality of bestowal, connection, and love determines how much he perceives the collective soul, whether in greater or lesser volume. But essentially, it is always one and constantly shines upon him.

In our perception of reality, we cannot imagine that the collective soul, being one for everyone, can reside in each person’s perception, or be felt as a part.

Our egoism prevents us from seeing it fully. For this reason, two discernments were made in the corporeal body, [meaning, in the egoistic perception]: In the first discernment, one feels one’s soul as a unique organ and does not understand that this is the whole of Israel. [This is the only thing created by the Creator.]

In the second discernment, the true light of the soul of Israel does not shine on him in all its power of illumination, but only partially, by the measure he has purified himself by returning to the collective.

The sign for the body’s complete correction is when one feels that one’s soul exists in the whole of Israel, in each and every one of them, for which he does not feel himself as an individual, for one depends on the other.

At that time, he is complete, flawless, and the soul truly shines on him in its fullest power, as it appeared in Adam HaRishon… . [That is, as it was in the state in which it was created by the Creator.]

The Measure of Unity between Souls

944Question: Baal HaSulam writes that only in the measure of unity with other souls is the common soul attained. What is this measure of unity?

Answer: The measure of unity is determined by the fact that, despite the egoism that separates us, we try to unite, think the same way, imagine the same way, and strive for the same goal.

Alike does not mean that we have to be like soldiers. No! We must try to come to a common goal, to a common path, to common steps, but each based on his or her own nature. This is the connection.

The Need for the System of Mutual Guarantee

929The law of mutual guarantee is the law of life, the law of existence, the law of development. At every level where nature wishes to create something that exists, it creates its individual parts and compels them to coexist according to the law of mutual guarantee, which originates from nature itself.

In our world, we observe this at the inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels. Man is the connection of people with each other, not each of us, but all people above our natural egoism. When we, as individual particles, are ready to connect to create a correct society, we are called “Adam” meaning “similar to the Creator.”

Therefore, the system of mutual guarantee is crucial in our time. We see humanity becoming increasingly confused, unable to find itself, and practically writhing in convulsions. Although everyone understands that connection is necessary, they also understand that it is impossible due to our egoistic nature.

The wisdom of Kabbalah comes to our aid and explains that we have no choice but to unite; otherwise, things will only get worse. On one hand, we increasingly need each other and cannot escape this planet to distance ourselves from each other. On the other hand, we must connect. The method of connection is inherent in nature itself and is called the wisdom of Kabbalah, which teaches us how to correctly receive all kinds of fulfillment from each other.

The Law in Force at All Levels

264.01Compared to other parts of nature, a human being is a creature that rises above its animalistic side and becomes a social element by creating society, state, and family, not just a temporary family for reproduction, like animals, but a long-term family. Then he develops industry, science, art, etc. Everything that exists within a person is the makings for one’s elevation to a spiritual level through the connection of one’s  inner parts.

How does this happen? We exist in our world to push a person toward returning to the spiritual state where one was initially. First, we create various communication systems between us, such as trade, financial systems, etc. We engage in wars and alliances just to understand how we can progress.

After undergoing multiple splits and disappointment in the ability to unite properly, we turn to Kabbalah. The first to turn to it was Adam, 5,780 years ago. He was the first to reveal this system.

The system’s design is providing humanity with the means to connect correctly. This connection, known as a mutual guarantee or Arvut, can be achieved similarly to how inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels achieve connection within the systems existing in our world. If we study these systems, we will see that they operate according to mutual guarantee. For example, each part of the human body is responsible for the entire organism. Feeling its responsibility, it automatically acts as needed to maintain the physiological life of all other parts. That is why the body exists.

However, when the connection between parts of the organism fails, a person immediately becomes ill. And if the interconnection between cells and internal systems further fails, the person dies. The same applies to society. This law operates at all levels.

Connection above Egoism

144All of us, all of humanity, originate from one common desire that shattered into tiny particles, and each of them represents one of us. Therefore, we must reconnect these particles.

To the extent that we can rise above each person’s egoism and start working on our desires toward a collective connection to become similar to the Creator, the Creator will be able to clothe in us as we get closer to each other.

That is what we need to achieve. Essentially, this is the subject of the wisdom of Kabbalah. It explains how we ended up in our current state, how we can connect into a single system, and how the Creator fills us as we unite into this system.

In this process, our egoism does not disappear; it develops even further, and we must connect above it despite its presence. Then, we will represent a single unified desire composed of many desires.

Our connection is always above egoism. As egoism grows, we must rise even higher to unite our aspirations. Thus, egoism is called “help against you” because it pushes us toward greater unity, and in this way, we can reveal the Creator even more between us.

The Most Shattered Part of the Universe

738The Creator created one desire, which underwent development and then broke into small parts. Starting with the shattering of the common desire into separate particles, egoism arose between them, a mutual rejection from each other, and they began to feel themselves placed in our world.

All the inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human desires that we began to feel, we began to see outside of ourselves in the form of the surrounding world. Our desires for each other consist of four levels we call still, vegetative, animate, and human, or 0, 1, 2, 3, 4.

Our job is to get off the egoistic degree because by staying on it we do not even feel where we are.

Egoism initially closes us inside ourselves—each and every one. While in it we feel nothing but our world. That is the lowest, most insignificant, and most broken part of the Universe. Therefore, we do not know who we are, what we are, what we are for—absolutely nothing! Perhaps we feel overwhelmed. And then, even this truth we do not feel.

But we are given the power that develops us. Gradually, more and more upper light descends on us, the quality of bestowal, which allows us to feel the need to unite with each other.
