Actions of the Righteous

232.01Question: What does it mean that we are studying Torah with the intention of not cutting ourselves off from the Creator, but being connected to Him?

Answer: We can do anything, but there is a force in the universe we all exist in. If we want to receive changes in us from this force, then we imagine such an action that can cause the influence of the upper light on us, and then we change. Our intentions change, what we want from our actions. These are the changes that the action of the righteous brings about.

The intention to bestow means that you do not want anything for yourself, but wish to act only for the sake of the Creator. It is clear that none of us has such an intention. But as it is said in TES (The Study of the Ten Sefirot) that we can attract this light and this force that will correct us. Then we will have intentions to act for the sake of the Creator in what we see as such an opportunity.

The Result of a Person’s Efforts

167Question: It is written that creation must, through its desire, attract a greater fulfillment than the measure of the light spreading within it from the Creator. Why are we obligated to attract greater fulfillment than what comes to us from the Creator?

Answer: We practically have almost no influence on what comes from the side of the Creator. However, the fact that we can raise our desire for a greater fulfillment with light than before, this is what deserves attention. After all, this is precisely the correct result of a person’s efforts. That is why we speak about our striving in this way.

Question: It would seem that the creation is always the result of the light. And yet suddenly, it can make itself capable of receiving more than what was initially embedded in it. Where does the creation get such ability?

Answer: The creation can choose exactly which desire it wishes to be fulfilled with, in what measure, and in what form, and then the Creator acts in accordance with this desire.

Go Forward and Reveal

212Question: What does it mean to find the force of the oneness of the Creator in the multitude of forms of creation in our world and to become a recipient of His good filling? What is the correct impression from the revelation of this power in us?

Answer: We reveal the Creator in all His actions and begin to understand that they are intended only to indicate to us that there is nothing else in His plan but to reveal to us, absolutely the entirety of creation, so that we could see how much He thinks only of our good. And this should become our nature: go forward and reveal.

One, Unique, and Unified

610.2However, in Him, wisdom, pleasure, sweetness and acerbity, operation and operator, and other such different and opposite forms are all contained as one in His simple light. There are no differentiations among them whatsoever, as is the term “One, Unique, and Unified.”

“One” indicates a single evenness. “Unique” implies that everything that extends from Him, all these multiplicities, are in Him as single as His self. “Unified” shows that although He performs the multiple operations, one force performs all these, and they all return and unite in the form of One. Indeed, this one form swallows all the forms that appear in His operations (Baal HaSulam, Study of the Ten Sefirot – Inner Observation, Part 1).

All three attributes “one, unique, and unified must join together in our attainment, in our feelings, and even in our desire, and we tune into them like a radio receiver. Then we begin to feel that these are the qualities of the Creator.

Moreover, their correct connection with one another gives us the understanding that it is not one, nor unique, nor unified, but all together.

Question: And should we pray to the Creator from this point?

Answer: In general, it should be taken into account.

Question: Why does the Kli of bestowal come to us from the state of prayer as a reward for efforts and not as a matter of fact?

Answer: But what efforts do you have? In what?

Question: In uniting with the friends, in all the inner and outer spiritual work that we perform.

Answer: Try to unite with the friends, and you will see whether you have responsibility, the force of attainment, and everything else. Try, and then tell us.
