“I Am for the Creator, and the Creator Is for Me.”

938.02Question: Typically, the light creates a desire and then departs. Therefore, when we try to enjoy a second time in the same place, it causes a “short circuit.” How can we form a desire that anticipates the descent of the light?

Answer: I think this is not such a big problem. The point is, if we desire to be connected with each other and at the same time establish a connection with the Creator to bestow to the Creator, then everything will work out.

Try to unite in a way that your common desire aligns with the Creator’s desire toward you, and you will achieve what is called “I am for the Creator, and the Creator is for me.”

Try and you will see that it is not difficult.

A Science That Encompasses All of Existence

214The Book of Zohar has been regarded as a special book for thousands of years, one that is universally respected. I see in practice that a person who begins to acquaint themselves with Kabbalah approaches it with great respect.

They see that the science of Kabbalah speaks about absolutely everything and covers all of existence—our psychology, social relationships, theory, practice, history, geography—everything one can imagine in our world. It explains all the roots of the world, all the sources of what happens, and all its purposes.

Furthermore, Kabbalah explains the cycles of souls, our state beyond the material world, and how we can practically achieve this today. It addresses what our freewill consists of, if it exists at all. It shows how we can change our perception of reality, how we can alter this reality and ascend to a level equal to the Creator, to control the Creator.

This means we can change our life, ourselves, humanity, all of nature, and even the Creator—no matter how strange this may sound. All of this is given to us. The science of Kabbalah speaks to a person about absolutely everything. It is above all that exists because it grants us new qualities and new possibilities.

The question is whether we can become a little smarter and consider in advance, before any disasters strike, that it might be worth paying some attention to building a more reliable foundation for our lives on Earth.

After all, many predict that in twenty years, there will either be an ice age or, on the contrary, a rise in global temperatures. Not to mention the possibility of “frying” ourselves in some nuclear war.

Kabbalah provides the means to restrain all of this, to manage it, to achieve harmony, where everyone will have everything they need, and everyone will suddenly come to peace. We will stop dividing borders, oil, and everything else, and will simply reach a completely new common denominator in our relationships. Isn’t that a good thing?

For this, a person simply needs to open a book and study a little or join us through the Internet or through any of our programs, lessons, lectures, or television.

What Does It Mean to “Rejoice in Darkness”?

To “rejoice in darkness” means to be joyful about the purpose behind it. “Darkness” refers to the state of darkness we might be in, while joy stems from what the darkness brings. We might be in an unpleasant state, yet surrounding light shines upon us, enabling us to sense both the darkness and the positive outcomes it will yield in the future.

This is not the same “darkness” that we feel during the preparation stage, which consists only of confusion, emptiness, weakness, and helplessness. The darkness that comes from the illumination of surrounding light also contains a glimpse of the future—spirituality—called the “light of faith,” yet it is still darkness.

When Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai descended to the level of “Shimon from the market,” he determined, from that level, that he was in it, and deduced that the corresponding level would be the state of complete correction. When did he determine this? It was while he was still at the level of “Shimon from the market,” and not from another state.

Did he descend to the level of “Shimon from the market”? Yes, he descended, but it was Rabbi Shimon who descended. He did not become entirely “Shimon from the market,” but rather Rabbi Shimon dressed in the state of “Shimon from the market.” He was at that low level, yet determined from his overall state what this level would bring him.

Even before crossing the barrier (Machsom), we experience states of darkness differently in order to prevent excessive discouragement from descents. The states that take place after the barrier are felt in a certain way before the barrier as well, albeit within the material world, not the spiritual.

The correction of the screen over the desire to receive is called “an act,” meaning taking a negative desire and turning it into a positive one. The Mitzvot (commandments) of the Torah are 613 Eitin (counsels) on how to correct the soul, followed by 613 Pekudin (commands), directives for filling the corrected parts with light.

If we correct all of our parts and fill them with light called “Torah,” we attain the general Torah. Upon completing the correction of the entire vessel, the general light called “the Creator” becomes revealed.

Everyone Depends on One Another

75.01Baal HaSulam writes in the article “The Mutual Guarantee” that all those striving toward the Creator constitute a single nation responsible for one another, which is called mutual guarantee (Arvut).

The Torah (the light of correction) was given to this nation only after each individual was asked whether they agreed to accept upon themselves the fulfillment of the commandment to love their neighbor as themselves, as it is written: “Love your neighbor as yourself,” meaning care for others no less than our nature compels us to care for ourselves.

This is the condition under which we can draw the light of correction. Only when we reveal a genuine desire to unite in this way will the light come and correct our spiritual vessel.

Mutual guarantee is when we already form a single body, a single organism, in which everyone depends on one another, after rising above their personal desires. For this, each person must possess an anti-egoistic screen and be on the spiritual degree of bestowal (Hafetz Hesed), and treat their corporeal life as merely a necessary foundation for spiritual ascent.

Each individual fills others and understands that he must be connected with them, after all his entire life is devoted to this purpose, just like the cells of one body. Every cell and organ of the body lives to fulfill its function for the benefit of the whole organism.

The meaning of his life is love and bestowal. When we feel such a connection between us, it is called spiritual life. If we desire to connect in this way, we will receive the strength to accomplish it!

Two-Faced Envy

284.06Question: You say that when a person opens his heart to a friend, he can harm himself. It turns out that envy propels a person forward, but on the other hand it can lead to the evil eye. What should one do?

Answer: It’s very simple! When I envy others, it’s good because I envy them positively. A friend is moving forward, and I envy them: “Look how they work! Look how much they invest! Look how they’re running somewhere, doing something, participating in something! Why don’t I have that?”

However, if the person who sets a good example opens up their soul to me, meaning they start sharing their personal feelings, this is where my envy can play a cruel trick on them. My envy could harm them.

And I’m not to blame for this, it’s just how I am. What can I do? From my level, this is how I perceive them. Therefore they should not reveal themselves in this way.

They should only open up in a way that inspires positive progress in me without sharing their inner, private feelings. But speaking about the importance of the group and unity among friends, envy that as much as you like. Nothing bad will come of it.

Without A Friend, It Is Impossible to Reach the Goal

749.02Question: Does annulment before a friend mean following any request from a friend in my environment?

Answer: If this environment is clearly moving with you toward the goal and you have agreed on this, you must completely annul yourself before your friends, meaning you must be internally connected with them. It doesn’t matter what external states you go through: ascents, descents, arguments, tensions, all are part of moving forward.

It’s as if you are on a sailboat heading toward the goal with the wind constantly shifting, and you climb the rigging and adjust the sails to keep moving forward. After all, everything happening within you, once you’ve seriously committed to the goal, whether it’s a breeze, a storm, or a hurricane, is intentionally stirred up by the Creator to ensure that, despite all this, you stick together and aim your sails in one direction.

Comment: You always emphasize the internal focus of the environment I am in. But there are situations, for instance, where I approach someone and say, “Let’s try to do a certain project.” They agree without even asking what it is, and it leads to a good result.

My Response: What does that have to do with spiritual advancement? Perhaps it’s related to some joint work in dissemination. Are you primarily aiming to connect souls to achieve adhesion with the Creator? Or are you preparing an action just for dissemination? You need to understand the nature of your actions.

Comment: But in any case, for now, we inevitably feel physical interactions.

My Response: Of course! Therefore, you must interact and do everything possible. But annulment before a friend primarily means that I fully move together with them, knowing that I cannot reach the goal without them, and they cannot without me.

Question: Can we still advance in this way, even without direct communication with someone?

Answer: Yes, of course. In this way, we essentially include one another in our common world group.

Spiritual Resistor

929Question: How does connection between souls feel?

Answer: The connection between souls is felt in the unification of all aspirations upward, toward a goal that can only be achieved through our connection, not individually.

Alone, I will always remain with only the single point in the heart that is given to me at the beginning of the journey. It is like a drop of semen; it remains as the foundation of a person, and everything else is just “flesh” that must be added to it. But within this drop lies all the information about a person.

This point in the heart exists above my ego, which I have despaired of fulfilling in this world. It pulls me upward, yet it will always remain just a point.

It cannot grow; instead I connect it with the other such points in the hearts of my friends. When these points come together to form a single vessel of the soul, I begin to feel the upper light within it—not in each of us individually, but in the connection between us, in our relationships, in the unity.

Each of us is a desire. If I act with a desire to bestow to another and they act with a desire to bestow to me, the connection between us reveals an inner light. It is akin to intra-atomic bonds.

There are two desires. On one hand egoism pushes people apart and makes them unwilling to unite with one another.

On the other hand, above the egoism, they draw closer, and strive to connect their points in the heart. The repelling force of egoism is negative, while the attracting force of the points in the heart is positive.

If the positive force exceeds the negative, connection occurs. The strength of this connection is determined by the immense power of mutual egoism acting as a minus.

However, by transforming it into a plus through uniting above it, we use it as resistance, as a resistor, a place where the force of bestowal, the Creator, can be revealed.

And then He is revealed between us within the former egoism that is now governed by the intention to unite! It is like a field surrounding a charged particle.

Thus, the Creator is revealed to creation—in the connection between souls, not within an individual soul.

Direct the Heart toward the Creator

538Question: Do we feel contact with the Creator the same way internally and externally?

Answer: I cannot divide it into internal and external contact. Connection with the Creator is felt in the depths of a person’s heart. That is where we must seek Him.

The most important thing is to feel connection with Him in the heart. He is constantly working on this. Do not spare your heart from the effort to direct it toward the Creator. On the contrary, the more you direct your heart toward Him, the more it will grow, become bigger, and encompass many states.
