It Could Not Have Been Otherwise

Question: Does a person have the possibility of creating another history, or is everything dictated precisely from the start?
Answer: With respect to every event that has already happened, we must say that it could not have been otherwise. Baal HaSulam writes about this in the first articles in the book Shamati and in Letter 18.
That is, regarding everything that happened, we must say: “That is how it had to happen” and in regard to everything that has not yet happened: “It depends only on us.”
