Don’t Wither in the Ten

528.01The Creator gives a point in the heart and brings a person to a ten where he falls into the hands of his or her friends and feels safe. In this calm state, one begins to “fall asleep.”

And what should you do? You must take on some work in your own or in the world group and do it with all your might; otherwise, you will drown and wither in your ten.

Question: How can one come to a state where one person is responsible for the whole group?

Answer: When we connect, we turn into one man. This is how we appear before the Creator, as one man with one heart, one desire and one man from all of us together.

Recognize the Qualities of Jacob and Esau in Me

568.01Question: How can I recognize the qualities of Jacob and Esau in myself and work with them correctly?

Answer: Jacob is the quality for the benefit of the friends; Esau is only for his own benefit.

Question: Why does a person more often work only with the evil inclination?

Answer: Because it is our natural work. We consist of an egoistic desire to receive for our own sake. Therefore, in the beginning, the quality of Esau awakens in a person.

The Desire of the Creator

294.4The Creator wants only one thing from us: that we try to come closer to Him. Although it is against our egoistic desires, in the end, we will receive absolute fulfillment.

The Creator wants us to be filled with Him because He exists only in the desire to bestow. Therefore, by yearning to be filled with the quality of bestowal, we are filled with Him, become like Him, and reach absolute adhesion.

The First Two Foundations of The Wisdom of Kabbalah

548.03Thus far, we have clarified the three foundations in the wisdom. The first is the light and the vessel, where the light is a direct extension of His self, and the vessel is the will to receive (Baal HaSulam, Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah, Item 17).

The light comes from the Creator and cascades through the system of worlds, Partzufim, and Sefirot as it gradually weakens until it reaches the lowest degree where it is already completely concealed.

The Kli is a vessel that gradually reveals the light, and thus passes it from above from the Creator Himself to the lowest levels.

The second fundamental concept of the wisdom of Kabbalah according to Baal HaSulam is the ten Sefirot and the four worlds.

While cascading from the Creator to our world, the lowest of the worlds, the light passes through ten stages of weakening and concealment, called the degrees of cascading. We study them in order to be able to rise from the lowest degree, at which we emerge, to the highest, which we eventually have to reach. These are the degrees of concealment.

Many degrees of concealment, successively connect with each other, and form a ladder called worlds.

They connect to each other, each ten degrees into a greater degree, then ten by ten into even greater degrees, and so on until they reach the highest degree.

We measure them in different ways. There are dimensions where the whole ladder of attainment consists of 625 steps; there are others with more and less steps. In general, it depends on the way we measure them.

But the main thing is that the highest degree is the Creator, the lowest one is the lowest level of our world, concealment. All these degrees from above downward or from below upward indicate that on each of them there are created beings and the light that fills them.

In principle, there are five main types of concealment, i.e., five worlds, the degrees of which are divided into five, and five more, and so on.

Attaining the Depth of the Text

208Question: When you read a Kabbalistic text many times, let’s say ten, suddenly on the eleventh time you see a word that you did not notice before. What is the reason for this?

Answer: This relates to the correction of a person. He invests many efforts, so he begins to understand the text more deeply and see new words and meanings.

Questions about Spiritual Work—12

263Question: If we are turning to you now so that you thank all the world’s tens from us for surrounding us, are we doing this as a gift to you personally?

Answer: Of course. The fact that you turn to each other and each time the connection between you becomes stronger and stronger, this is a great gift for me.

Question: Can we give gifts to the Creator if we ourselves feel a sense of lack and dissatisfaction?

Answer: You lack the love that you can give to your friends and receive from them. There will be no feeling of lack when you start developing this feeling within yourself.

Question: You said that before giving a gift, you need to find out from a friend what is important to him. Is it possible to do this in relation to the Creator, to scrutinize in the ten the Creator’s need for a gift from us?

Answer: Yes. Moreover, with the Creator you can behave in different ways: you can imagine the ten with the Creator in the center of the ten, or you can imagine the ten as one common whole inside the Creator. Try both ways.

Breaking the Connection to Feelings

963.1Question: The orthogonality theory of intelligence states that intelligence and final goals are orthogonal axes along which possible agents can freely vary; that is, more or less any level of intelligence could in principle be combined with more or less any final goal. It has also been construed to mean that smart people can pursue stupid goals. Intelligence and goals are orthogonal, unrelated to each other. No matter how smart the intellect, it can safely pursue absolutely stupid or poor goals.

How can these two parameters be linked in order to actually use intelligence for high goals?

Answer: When you speak about the mechanism of the interaction of intellects, do you take into account whether they are purely intellectual or sensory?

Comment: At the moment, I consider them purely intellectual. That is, we are talking about intelligence divorced from sensations.

My Response: Then we are talking about mechanical devices and not about people or any sensory civilization.

Comment: But in fact, sensations are a person’s reception of information. It later gets evaluated, processed, and so on. And if we started the discussion with the isolation of human intellect from the field of sensations, then we in fact came to the conclusion that all this happens in conjunction with feelings.

My Response: It follows that we cannot take sensory parameters into account.

Question: But if a person feels something and is able to process these feelings, why can’t we take them into account? This is all the same information that comes to us in different forms. We feel something, analyze it, and act on it accordingly.

That is, this bundle is the high goal, methods of achieving it that are not related to goal, setting, and the sensory perception when receiving information—all this is completely shattered in a person.

It is unclear how it works. Maybe there is a point, a line through the center to connect it all? Or do we have no need for it?

Answer: The fact is that if we want to affect the workings of such systems, we must put at least a few conditions down that will not lead humanity to destruction, self-destruction. Then we will have a clear direction of where to set the limits in the system.

Problems Related to Achieving a Goal

547.05Question: If I have already attempted to accomplish a goal and have not achieved it,  do I need to continue to work toward it?

Answer: If you feel that your goal is not achievable in the nearest future, you need to review your attitude to it.

Perhaps you will still not abandon it and will continue to realize it. It is also possible that you will decide that you have to leave it maybe for good or maybe for some time and start doing something different and more realistic.
