“How do I make a good future?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: How do I make a good future?

To secure ourselves a good future, we need to make sure that everyone has a good future, and not that we each try to build a good future for ourselves at the expense of one another.

We need to also know how to come closer to each other in a harmonious and peaceful manner, so that everyone will enjoy safe, comfortable, happy and confident lives.

Verbally, everyone agrees to these ideas. But due to our egoistic nature, where we each desire to self-benefit at the expense of others, we cannot observe them.

We thus find two opposites in the same place. On one hand, everyone understands that they will be well-off if there will be positive connections among everyone, but on the other hand, according to our overblown egoistic nature, we each want to hold ourselves in a somewhat superior position to others.

We thus need to acknowledge that humanity’s good future depends solely on directing ourselves to achieve positive human relations, where we all treat each other favorably.

202.0Question: Is the desire to receive approval and recognition egoism?

Answer: It is not really egoism. Such a desire can be manifested in the best sense of the word when a person invents something, when he tries to do something in order to do good to people, and he needs support.

Question: What advice would you give to a person who has no real friends, but would like to find them?

Answer: He has to change. It is not easy. He must clearly understand why he needs this, whether he needs these people, what he would like to connect with them for, what he could give them, and so on.

Question: What do you think about meditation?

Answer: I do not know, I have never practiced it. I think there are people who need it, they want it. But personally, I do not see myself practicing meditation.

Question: What was the happiest moment in your life?

Answer: I think the happiest moment in my life was the day I found my teacher. I had been looking for him for several years, traveled to a lot of people, and asked them, but I did not get an answer. And suddenly, by chance, I found a teacher.

Question: If we influence other people with our thoughts, what should we think about every moment?

Answer: So that this moment does not pass in vain. So that during this moment you have a contact between you and the Creator, and you understand what you want from this contact.

The Purpose of Inner Development

294.2Question: Is it acceptable that a psychologist works with a patient and includes the basis of Kabbalah?

Answer: I do not know the tasks of a psychologist, but I know that no psychologist can work with a person in the Kabbalistic field in his inner mental and spiritual scope. We do not offer ourselves to psychologists and do not try to attract them to come to Kabbalah and try to help us in any way.

Our task is to reveal to a person the need for his inner development so that he can feel the Creator, attain Him, and based on this develop further.

“Is world unity possible?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Is world unity possible?

The more we develop, the more problems and crises we encounter, and their purpose is to lead us to the realization that the only way out of a total collapse is through unity.

World unity is not only possible, it is a nature-set condition to which we all evolve.

While we currently experience the path to unity without awareness of this goal nature has set for us, and we thus feel more and more negative situations enter our lives, if we start learning about how nature develops to greater and greater states of unity, and scrutinize how we can align ourselves with such development in a balanced and harmonious manner, then we can switch our path to world unity: instead of a path of suffering, we would head on a path of increasing delight and awareness. We would thus be wise to search for how we can embark on a positive developmental path to unity.

If we make such a shift, our eyes would open to a new method of correction of human nature—one that changes our egoistic natures to their altruistic opposites, and our negative connections to each other would become positive and balanced with nature.

We would then become rewarded not only with total safety, comfort, happiness and confidence in this world and on this planet, but we would discover a whole new level of existence—one that is eternal and perfect.

Fix Things, Relationships, and Life

565.01Question: People get together and separate, get together and separate. They do not have the strength to mend their relationships and their connection. It is easier for them to start over.

We know from Kabbalah that the whole of nature, generally speaking, is breakage. We are living in it and we need to correct it. What should people do anyway: try to glue their relationships together or should start over?

Answer: People have to understand that nothing is perfect. On one hand everything in nature consists of revealing contradictions, harmful properties, and so forth. On the other hand, our attitude to that should be very patient and consciously correct.

In any state, we have to see some opportunities for correction. And not only corrections but improvements in our life. However, this will be possible if we relate to this in the correct way.

“Can you tell me some questions which will help me introspect?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Can you tell me some questions which will help me introspect?

Do I have love for humanity?

If it seems too far-fetched to have love for humanity from the beginning, then you could start with love for people in your own country.

How do you check if you have love for people in your country?

Are you willing to share everything you have with them?

If you feel love for them, then you would certainly share everything you have with them, just like you do in the family.

Today, we might be willing to be decent citizens who find a place of work and who pay their taxes, but nature requires more from us.

Nature wants us all to feel a much deeper connection to each other, “as one man with one heart.” Achieving a love-fueled connection is a condition set in nature, and it runs against our egoistic nature, where we wish to enjoy for self-benefit at the expense of each other.

While we do not want to prioritize the benefit of others according to our egoistic nature, we can, however, counter our egoistic desire in order to start taking others into consideration. It depends solely on the way we influence each other. If we set up our communications in our societies, cultures and the media to influence each other with values and examples of mutual consideration, then we will strengthen each other to positively connect above our egoistic drives.

We need to evolve in our mutual awareness to understand that our positive connection to each other above our egoistic drives is no matter of ethics or morals. It is rather a condition set in nature. The more we let our egos develop without any motions to positively connect above them, the more we will fall into a bigger and bigger pit of troubles. We thus need to bring ourselves to a state where we will tell ourselves that we have to achieve a positive connection because it is the highest law of nature.

We neither understand nor feel it. On the contrary, we constantly think in an opposite direction, about how we can make ourselves more comfortable.

Our every desire, thought and action is for our personal benefit, from how we sit, eat and drink to how we aim ourselves at various goals in our lives.

Nature, however, demands of us to elevate ourselves above our inborn nature and instead of thinking about ourselves, to think about others. Such awareness should gradually bring us to a state of realizing that we simply cannot desire, think and act for the benefit of others, and in order to do so, we need to ask—to ask for the force of love to enter our connections.

Nature created our world in such a way so that we eventually reach a genuine request for help, called a “prayer.” We will then connect with the upper force in nature, and it will pass on the force of love to everyone. We will then all become as one unit, sharing a harmonious and peaceful existence in a single connection among each other and with the positive force of love that dwells in nature.

“What will make the world a better place you know in one sentence?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What will make the world a better place you know in one sentence?

We need to strive to connect in a way where humanity becomes “as one man with one heart,” meaning that each of us feels everyone and wishes for the benefit of all.

Evil Boomerangs Back to You

294.3Comment: Famous chemist Fritz Haber was a Jew and a German patriot. It is believed he saved at least a billion people. When the world’s population increased as harvests began to decline, in 1909, he came up with a way to produce ammonia fertilizers from nitrogen and hydrogen. It was considered one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century dubbed “bread from air.”

War broke out (World War 1), and Haber wanting to prove his loyalty to Germany, experimented with and chlorine (mustard) gas that was first tested in Ypres in 1915. He watched as 3,000 to 5,000 French soldiers died an agonizing death right before his eyes. Soon after, his wife committed suicide from shame and his son committed suicide many years later.

In 1918, Fritz Haber received the Nobel Prize for his work on ammonia (fertlizers). Then he headed the institute where the Cyclone Bet gas was created. At a certain time, millions of people were poisoned with this gas in gas chambers in concentration camps. His relatives and loved ones were killed. In 1933, Hitler came to power, Fritz Haber was thrown out of his institute, and died a year later of a heart attack. Such was his fate.

How does the desire to feed the world and invent a suffocating gas coexist in a person?

My Response: I believe he didn’t think about the consequences of either. Simply, as a man of science, he was driven by the opportunity to create something effective. But for what, plus or minus, I think he did not realize.

Question: Can one live like this? Thousands are being destroyed before your eyes with your invention.

Answer: You can say this about anything. Einstein is also the father of the atomic bomb. What can you do?

Question: But he later renounced it.

Answer: To renounce it makes little difference. You can come to renounce anything, but they have already used it.

Comment: That’s interesting. Sakharov is the father of the hydrogen bomb, etc., and later they become generally righteous.

So, you believe a scientist is driven by discovery, a desire to create?

My Response: Of course, this is what interests him. He is not really aware of the consequences.

Comment: It is not too good to realize people have no principles they won’t cross, regardless what is done to them.

My Response: Not with a true scientist; they do not sense life at all.

Question: Is life a desire to create for them?

Answer: Yes. And what it gets used for does not interest them at the moment. That is, whoever takes on this scientist, will squeeze out all they want from him.

Question: Can we draw some conclusions from this for how not to fall under such an environment, not to take part in such inventions?

Answer: No, a scientist cannot. He has an inquisitive mind, his only interest is in discovering something new.

Question: But is this how one is led from above? Is it known in advance he will be like this?

Answer: Yes, of course, it is the upper governance.

Question: So you don’t condemn Fritz Haber in this case?

Answer: I don’t blame anyone at all. I can’t do anything about it because it is out of our hands.

Question: Everything has boomeranged back into his family. His wife committed suicide, his son committed suicide, his relatives were killed by the very gas he invented. Tell me, does a boomerang law exist or not?

Answer: In general, all the good and all the bad we do comes back to all of us and our loved ones, of course. And we have to somehow make a connection between these things. Maybe try to draw some conclusions for the future.

Question: So is there such a simple formula where the evil done returns to you in one form or another? Is there such a law?

Answer: Yes. That is, you have to constantly discern very carefully what you are doing, what you are engaged in, and where you are headed.

Question: Will my bad thoughts about others come back to me?

Answer: It is the same; they will surely come back to you.

Comment: If a person felt this, he could be more careful.

My Response: For this, he must be constantly on guard. Every person should restrain himself and control his thoughts, desires, and intentions in general.

Question: Is it right to restrain yourself? Meaning, one says to himself: “This is a bad thing, I’m not going there.” Like this?

Answer: Yes, even in thoughts.

Question: Even in thoughts? But it is very difficult.

Answer: We call it intention.

Comment: But I’m not free in my thoughts.

My Response: It doesn’t matter. What is sent to you, you are not free in. But what you do with it is your choice.

Question: The third question is patriotism. What kind of disease is it when one is capable of doing anything, that is, he can give himself completely? Even more so than in any other area.

Answer: He sets himself a goal that he can justify and be proud of.

Comment: This is my motherland. I am ready to kill for it, do anything, etc.

My Response: Indeed. All this is found in the worst atrocities by the way. Look what Hitler wrote.

Question: Is it a disease or is it in each of us?

Answer: In every person.

Question: So you can even pull it out of and facilitate it in a person? And push him to the most terrible things?

Answer: Undoubtedly.

Question: So this patriotism was revealed in people who did not expect to be capable of this?

Answer: Sure. We see it directly in their notes, works, letters.

“What would you do if you have a lot of influence in the world?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What would you do if you have a lot of influence in the world?

We each have a lot of influence in the world at every moment.

It is not as some people think, that our influence is only every few years when we have the chance to vote for our respective governments. On the contrary, our impact reverberates throughout our societies, touching those in close proximity—such as our families, friends and acquaintances—as well as those distant, including people we might never cross paths with, even spanning different corners of the globe.

We bring about great changes in nature. Likewise, due to nature’s integrality as a globally interconnected and interdependent system, which is balanced to begin with, it suffers when we cause imbalance to nature. We then feel the imbalance we cause through the myriad problems and crises we experience in our lives. In other words, what we feel in our lives is nature’s positive or negative response to our positive or negative influence upon it.
