Question: Why does Baal HaSulam say that an iron partition separates us from the wisdom of Kabbalah and that we have to blow it up?

Answer: Baal HaSulam feels the absolute need for the revelation of the wisdom of Kabbalah, but that the people see no need for it at all. On the contrary, they reject the wisdom of Kabbalah as strongly as they can by using all sorts of excuses. The people are like a sick person who doesn’t want to recognize the only medicine that can save his life. So we have to try and give him this medicine in different ways, like to a child, in a nice wrapping with all sorts of persuasion and preliminary explanations. After all, something must be done!

An ordinary person doesn’t feel any partition between himself and the wisdom of Kabbalah. It is only later that we begin to discover this. The wisdom of Kabbalah is a method for the revelation of the Creator to man in this world. Such a revelation is contrary to our nature. If we felt that the revelation of the Creator were sweet and beneficial to our desire to receive and would bring us more food, sex, family, money, respect, and knowledge, we would gladly accept it; if the Creator satisfied our corporeal desires, everyone would yearn for Him.

But if the Creator is love of others, as it says: “From the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator,” then no one needs Him. Everyone rejects Him and at the same time the wisdom of Kabbalah as well.

Subconsciously we reject the wisdom of Kabbalah in its natural form and are 100% opposite from it as we are from the Creator. Instead of the real Kabbalah, we simply imagine some kind of mysticism, some kind of miracles and blessings, and thus, we can use some parts of it, deceiving ourselves that we are dealing with the wisdom of Kabbalah. But in fact it is something else entirely.

We can turn to the Creator this way and pray to Him in order to receive something good from Him. This is the only reason we need Him—in order to feel better, and we don’t need a Creator that will make us feel bad. Everything is fulfilled according to the customer’s order, the receiver’s order. So although the wisdom of Kabbalah has been with us for ages, we are detached from it by an iron partition.

A few years ago, a study was conducted in which participants were presented with pairs of hypothetical personal circumstances and asked to state their preferences. For example, people were asked to choose between earning $50,000 a year with others earning $25,000 and earning $100,000 a year with others earning $200,000. They were asked to choose between 12 years of education (high school) when others have 8, and 16 years of education (college) when others have 20. They were asked to choose between an IQ of 110 when the IQ of others is 90 and an IQ of 130 when the IQ of others is 150. In most cases, more than half of the respondents chose the options that gave them better relative position. Better to be a big fish, earning $50,000, in a small pond than a small fish, earning $100,000, in a big one.”

My Comment: That is, a person is willing to give up money, education, and intellect just so others have less! That is our nature: We perceive and appreciate everything relative to the environment. Therefore, the better environment we choose, the better options we envy, the greater achievements we can reach. It is useless to go against nature. You only need to learn how to use everything that it has invested in us.

How is it possible with these egoistic qualities to achieve integral interaction, brotherly participation, love for the other; what is required of us now at a new stage of human development?

That is why Kabbalah teaches us how to organize ourselves into small groups and create integral communities, like the connection of groups of cells into the organs of a body, and then the connection of the groups in the system, as in a living body, until everyone connects in a single organism—Adam.

Until the destruction of the Second Temple, the wisdom of Kabbalah was the Torah, the study of the Israeli nation, the group that Abraham brought out of Babel and made into a nation that lives according to the laws of the wisdom of Kabbalah. The destruction of the Temple means that they fell from love thy friend as thyself into unfounded hatred.

Since then the wisdom of Kabbalah ceased to exist among the people who we still call the people of Israel, although they were no longer connected to the law of love thy friend as thyself, and therefore have no right to be called “Israel” (Yashar – Kel), which means “straight to the Creator.” So the understanding of what we need the wisdom of Kabbalah for was lost. Baal HaSualm speaks about his fear, “and it is fearful that it will be forgotten, God forbid, in the people of Israel.”

He is afraid of that, but others don’t even think about it since they don’t know what the wisdom of Kabbalah is needed for. And to that end, Baal HaSulam wrote the “Introduction to TES,” in order to explain why it is obligatory to study the book “The Study of the Ten Sefirot“ (TES) and the wisdom of Kabbalah in general.

He didn’t see that people were interested in this wisdom or that they respond to his appeal, that they even listened to how important and essential this wisdom is. Everyone rejected it by finding different excuses. Religious people who studied the Torah didn’t understand why they needed something else. And a person who lived an ordinary corporeal life was afraid that the wisdom of Kabbalah would ruin his life. Who knew what forces were hidden in it, what he would summon upon himself by mentioning the Holy names, perhaps he would summon troubles by that…

Others justified themselves by saying that there were people who studied Kabbalah, who called themselves Kabbalists, but who didn’t recommend it to others. There are many reasons why the wisdom of Kabbalah was pushed aside, away from general attention, and it is a wonder that it has existed until now. After all there were many wisdoms that were forgotten and have disappeared throughout history.

People reject this study, but Baal HaSulam thought that this should stop. The time had come for mankind to change our attitude and to show people why the wisdom of Kabbalah is necessary and why it came into the world—in order to raise humanity to the level of unity with the Creator, which is the goal of our life, the goal of creation. It is time to fulfill this goal here and now.

For this reason Baal HaSulam wrote TES and “The Introduction to TES” in which he explains the importance of its study. In his time it was very hard to bring this idea to people. Today it is accepted in a totally different manner, and we can openly advertise the widespread study of the wisdom of Kabbalah. I remember what a buzz it made in Bnei Brak, an orthodox town, when people found out that I brought a group of nonreligious students from Tel Aviv to my teacher, Rabash. Rabash made a real revolution, but there was no other choice, the world is in such a state that the wisdom of Kabbalah has to be revealed.

My Comment: This sounds like the anecdote when the patient lying on the operating table before a serious operation asks the surgeon not to forget about the small wound on his leg. The problem is not in one city but in the world economy, in changing people’s attitude towards themselves, society, and the world. Instead of studying Kabbalah’s opinion and its application, humanity wastes time allowing the crisis to damage society more deeply.

Today we are only beginning to suspect and discover that we are mutually and tightly connected, and are conducting research on the topic, and writing various articles about it on the Internet. But it wasn’t that way before.

Ten years ago I couldn’t speak about this. In 2005 I presented a document in Arossa, Switzerland at the World Wisdom Council, and they refused to agree with me. Four years ago I spoke with a Nobel Prize winner in economics and told him that the world was in a crisis and that everything will disintegrate rapidly, just like at the time of the Big Bang when the universe was created! He didn’t agree with me.

There were many such people. I gave lectures in the US at different universities, colleges, everywhere.

Five weeks ago, I met a representative of the EU in Italy. I told him about what was going on and he understood me—something that has not happened before. He wrote down everything, like a student, and asked me again and again, but his conclusion was: “I agree with everything that you say, but we cannot put this into practice; we cannot solve this, we don’t have anyone to turn to at the moment, no one will understand, although you are right.”

This means that gradually the world is advancing toward the recognition that we are in a closed space, under the influence of the forces of nature, not above them, and that we cannot do as we like as human society also has certain attributes that were given to us by nature.

We have to study these laws and to abide by them since otherwise we will feel bad. And most importantly, when nature is locked and becomes global there are mutual interactions of the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking components, and then our negative interactions can affect the world of the still, vegetative, ad the animate just as it is happens now with hurricane Sandy or tsunamis.

This means that all these levels of interaction are interdependent and it turns out that man by his wrong attitude to other people and to nature affects everything, since man is the highest level.

Here we need the wisdom of Kabbalah since it tells us how we should organize ourselves. If we don’t become round as our ego is, which means mutually interdependent, we will find that we are opposite from nature.

Answer: On the whole, that’s the way it should be. In the future this is what will happen.

When we speak about global humanity, about its integrality, we mean that it is one integral whole. Only from the general whole can we differentiate the 99% of the people who are in the group, but don’t understand why and for what purpose; they came to the group because they were brought there, meaning they were born to this world and are there willy-nilly.

We have to gradually awaken them to participate more actively; this means that actually all of humanity is one group.

Question: Our group has existed for three years. Before, people would enter and leave the group until the group finally formed. Now we are at a point where there’s no longer an inflow of new strength. Can the reason for this be that we are so used to each other, we sense and feel each other like members of one family and we feel so good together that we don’t want to let anyone else in?

Answer: This can happen. I’m not entirely familiar with the situation to give you an answer. But everything has its time, so don’t worry. You should use this time to study more and to strengthen yourselves. I don’t think that now is the time to conduct wide dissemination. As far as I feel, the situation here is still quite lethargic. It’s best to wait. For the time being you should work on improving your connection with us, try to work more on the materials, translate books, and adapt the material for the local population. Maybe you’ll be able to write articles on the Internet or in small newspapers. Maybe you’ll be able to adapt them for your local population. I don’t think that many people will be joining you right now. After all, a point in the heart becomes revealed only when a person has reached a certain level of egoistic development, and it hasn’t happened here yet. Therefore, you should work more on yourselves.

All the Kabbalistic primary sources describe the system of higher management, meaning the forces that act upon us, but we do not feel.

We do not see the forces, but only feel the result of their impact, just as we do not see electric current flowing through wires. Only when a light bulb is lit or we are shocked by touching a live wire do we realize that there is current. Similarly, we do not know what happens to us, meaning what forces affect us.

We move, grow, think of something, and experience some events, something is happening around us all the time. And where do all these events come from? Who governs us? In principle, we do not know. We think that everything happens by chance or that I think about something. But where did my thoughts come from, I don’t know why I think they are mine.

That is, a person in our world sees only a small fragment of the whole world, the whole system, and thus he is in a state of detachment from the real world.

The real world is much bigger. Where did we come from? Why were we born in such conditions, with these features, in this family? What is the origin of our universe?

We once thought that the universe existed infinitely. When I was at school, we were told that everything exists eternally.

Then, we suddenly discovered that the universe has existed only 14 billion years, starting with the Big Bang and spreading further, that is already a limited time. And what had happened before that? It is unknown. But we know that this date is the birth of our world.

Moreover, modern science shows that if we penetrate into matter, atoms, and then beyond atoms, beyond elementary particles, then everything disappears there: There is no matter, there are forces in the form of clouds. Electrons, protons, and neutrons are not elementary particles, but some cloud effects. It turns out that all that we ever considered unshakable: matter, energy, information, all of it is something that dissolves in some volume that we do not understand.

Today, science comes to this. And that is why it is difficult for us to communicate with it because we are not designed to communicate with such concepts. That is why, science is coming to a crisis, and against the background of the crisis, the science of Kabbalah is revealed.

Question: Suppose that in 100 -150 years the wisdom of Kabbalah will have spread as a spiritual science and many people will support it. What if we discovered that some people don’t agree with Kabbalah and are against it? Will those who study Kabbalah be able to fill the heavenly vessel that has to be filled? What if all the people don’t complete this vessel, will it be possible to think that the idea of Kabbalah has been fulfilled?

Answer: We are not speaking about any heavenly spiritual vessel or about 150 years of dissemination. We are speaking about the fact that today a person is breaking the laws of nature and he feels the blows as he is being hit from every direction. We are in a crisis.

Kabbalah explains how to come out of the crisis, but not in 150 years. What kind of 150 years can we speak of if we may not even exist for another year? Newspapers write about the threat of hurricanes, that anywhere in the world there could be a tsunami, and that next year there will be no crops. There is no time to waste. Kabbalah is not a theoretical science; it is very practical and we should use it if we want to survive.

When we discover something in physics, chemistry, or medicine and you are suddenly told that something is forbidden or harmful and if you don’t listen certain things may happen, do you wait 150 years? It is the same thing here.

Kabbalah is not meant to be believed and not even to be used. Kabbalah offers how you can advance consciously in a good and easy way.

A wise person sees the problem in advance and tries to bypass it. Here the wisdom of Kabbalah helps us. A fool will wait until he gets beaten: “I don’t believe this; I don’t want to,” like a child who is punished and then does what he has to do anyway since he has no choice. Kabbalah doesn’t say that you have to believe in it, to study it and to fill a certain vessel. You have to change yourself here and now, in this world according to the laws of nature in order to maintain homeostasis. If you are adapted to the conditions of homeostasis with nature, you will feel good, since the law of balance is what matters.

If the human body is out of balance, a person’s blood pressure goes up, the level of sugar in his blood and other parameters change and it is called a disease. Today our body and humanity are in a state of imbalance with nature and it hurts. You are told how to correct yourself and how to reach a state of balance in a very practical way today, now, not in 150 years.

If you don’t start correcting yourself, next year you will be facing the threat of droughts, poor crops, storms, etc., not to mention the economic crisis, the financial and family crises. You are being offered an easier solution to the problem, not to study under the threat of the stick, but to study by opening a book.

A person may say: “I don’t want to study physics, it’s not important for me, I will live without it.” Now imagine a person who doesn’t know the natural laws of physics, how can he create certain mechanisms or interact with something? We calculate everything this way and build different systems.

Here we have absolute freewill, do you want to act? Act. If you don’t want to, don’t act. That’s all. Kabbalah doesn’t force anyone. We disseminate the wisdom of Kabbalah on the Internet freely for everyone and no one has to identify himself. Get to know the wisdom of Kabbalah; it is for your own good! It will help you balance yourself with the world, and understand why such problems come your way. You don’t have to be a follower of a certain school; it isn’t a religion.

Question: We are now undergoing a period of increased internal work in the group, and some of our friends had the impression that in this connection we can significantly reduce our dissemination activity to dedicate ourselves more fully to internal work.

Answer: All our work consists of two opposites. Rabash wrote in his articles that the problem is that we are seemingly cut inside ourselves, divided into internal and external. And the world around us seems divided into internal and external. That is why it is necessary to understand how to be in contact with it.

In this regard, we often devote more time to our internal unity, and then let it go a little and become engaged in dissemination. It all depends on the condition of our surroundings.

Now we are preparing for a big convention in Russia. We hope that hundreds of our friends will participate in it, those who had not even had a direct visual connection with us.

I see this convention as a very important one and that is why the unity that we have to reach there naturally holds all our attention. Thus, while external dissemination is important for us, the internal one is more important.

Thus, we are moving. Like the throbbing of the heart, all our work moves through inhaling-exhaling, and the entire world is in this motion. Compression and expansion alternating with each other, and thus we advance: along the right and left lines. Everything is arranged alternately.

So, do not completely close either of these lines. Sometimes, we just have to move the focus from one part to another, from internal to external and vice versa. So, in any case you shouldn’t panic that we stop external dissemination, and most importantly inner dissemination.

Still, on the eve of the convention, we have to try to prepare for it more, that is, to unite, and try to bring to the convention all those who study with us in various places, especially in the region of Siberia, the Far East, the southern parts of Russia, and adjacent countries.

Taking this opportunity, I would like to stress once again the importance of this congress and to invite all the individuals, all the doubters, and those who communicate in the virtual space in different parts of the endless expanses of Siberia and that region. I hope that they all will find strength, means, and time to meet with us.

There is still a huge mass of people who are somewhere alone, far away from each other, and it is desirable that they attend our conventions at least once. I hope that they have this opportunity. Let them connect, at least with the convention organizers, and even if they are not going to attend, they should write to us so we know where they are. And if suddenly they decide to come after all, we can help them.
