Answer: Life goes on according to the laws of egoism. And we must act so that it will flow according to the laws of altruism: love, bestowal, and unity. No one does this and no one can.

Question: If nature cares about us like a mother cares for her children, doesn’t she then have to cherish us and protect us from all harm?

Answer: An embryo within a mother’s womb develops under controlled forces acting upon it and it is 100% dependent on the upper system. This system has a goal: develop it and bring it to birth.

Opposing forces are active within the mother’s system because everything is born out of the interaction between two forces: positive and negative. That is why there are systems of absorption and excretion of substances, and all of them are controlled by the mother’s body, which has complete power over the body of the embryo.

It seems to us that the embryo experiences only kindness from the mother. But in reality, opposing forces are acting upon it, strict, powerful, in conflict with one another. One force is forcing the embryo to grow and expand; the other is exerting pressure on it and constricts it. It is almost like breathing, inhaling and exhaling, or the beating of the heart.

There are many actions that are unseen by us; nonetheless, all development is always taking place as a result of two opposing forces: plus and minus. And the material exists between them, as if in the middle of a crossfire. That is why the life of the embryo is not as sunny as it may seem to us, but rather is very complex. The embryo instinctively carries out many actions, some in resistance and some in compliance with the mother.

It carries out a real war in order to receive the right kind of strength to rid itself of foreign elements. The embryo carries out a tremendous job of discernment, consumption, and elimination. Don’t think that for nine months it is resting and growing passively while the mother does all the work for it.

Every day it it carries out a huge job under the influence of opposing forces until they mold it into the necessary external and internal form and prepare it for birth.

The embryo goes through an entire preparatory process within the mother so that when it is born, it does not require anything other than external energy, nutrition, and filling the memory cells. In essence, it has all the necessities, won by it during the difficult war on the side of the mother and opposing her. It has the strength of the screen and restriction, work of discernment and synthesis. This is the real inner war without which the embryo cannot develop.

By the way, embryo feels everything. After the first three days of “absorbing the seed” and the following forty days of formation of the fetus, it already becomes a person able to absorb and process information. It is not just a mass of cells, but a person.

Even while within the mother and in a special type of communication with her, it takes in information about the external environment both through her and otherwise. And when it comes out to be born, then it begins to sense the external world. This is now a new degree of existence.

Answer: Friendship between Kabbalists can be like this because it is beyond the limitations of life and death. A person begins to experience completely new sensations and emotions that are produced outside of our beastly bodies.

Question: In life are there cases in which a friend gives his life for the sake of others. Is this welcomed in the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t relate to this in any way and doesn’t say anything about this, neither for nor against. Everything depends on the situation.

Question: Are there general rules in the Torah when a person must give his life for the sake of others and when not?

Answer: In the Torah general rules and obligations like these don’t exist. But if necessary, a person himself gives his life because an inner connection can be very strong. I am convinced that there are circumstances like these in which a mother can give her life for the sake of her child. This can also be the case with two friends if one feels that the other is higher than he.

Answer: If we are talking about a father and a son and there is no other way to cure the son, then the father will certainly give up his kidney.

From Kabbalah’s point of view, this is not considered to be an altruistic act, because all actions that are on the level of the material world are egoistic. No matter how wonderful they may seem, they do not go beyond our world and have no relation to the spiritual quality of bestowal.
And within our world, of course, they can be divided into different levels.

Question: If we talk about this world, do you have a feeling that, let’s say, such-and-such person is kind, he did a good thing, and so on?

Answer: I do not see it. After all, if we talk about the general structure of the universe, then any action is evaluated only as it approaches the goal of the creation. And therefore, good or bad actions in our world and in the upper world are viewed differently.

It is a completely different system in the upper world; all actions are evaluated differently. Perhaps in our world some action would look very cruel, but in the spiritual world, it has its own beautiful continuation. And vice versa.

Question: What do you think, as a Kabbalist, is a good deed?

Answer: Only that which draws humanity to its good end.

Question: Even if it happens through sufferings?

Answer: It is not suffering if it brings us closer to the goal. And if not, then we are being pushed by sufferings.

Comment: A day of spontaneous kindness was celebrated on the 17^th of February. This day was first celebrated in the US and now it is also becoming popular in Europe. According to the organizers, you should try to be kind to everyone on that day. It isn’t just kindness but unlimited kindness without any shred of egoism.

My Response: First, this is impossible. Second, how can such actions be spontaneous if people know about them in advance?

You have to learn how to do that; you have to be prepared internally because you need some internal basis in order to wish good to someone else.

Question: What is the meaning of kindness? Why don’t people act according to it if it is such an important attribute?

Answer: A person cannot act out of kindness. Even those who act that way or in a similar manner cannot do good to someone spontaneously because all our actions stem from an internal egoistic calculation.

But if we begin to implement the method of Kabbalah, which will enable us to be connected with the upper force, we will be able to do good with its help. After all, this is above the ego, contrary to egoistic actions.

It is impossible to do that spontaneously. A person is an absolute egoist by nature and it says that the evil inclination is at the basis of his nature, so how can he do something for others? No way! Only if he deceives himself that he seemingly does something good for others, but eventually all of a person’s thoughts and intentions are focused only on what is good for his own sake.

Goodness is a state in which a person really wishes good to others and based on this, takes action. But if he seemingly does that for others, but doesn’t want to internally, if he doesn’t change his nature; he feels only a temporary relief that quickly passes.

Eventually everything turns to evil again. Therefore, it is said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. We will not be able to do anything right, good, or real that can continue if at the same time, we don’t lock ourselves on the source of goodness, the upper Light. Then with the help of the upper source, we will be able to do good.

Question: Scientists say that people lie to preserve their value in the eyes of others. According to psychologists, the so-called “white lie” is used in this case. What is a lie from your point of view?

Answer: A lie is a natural defensive reaction of an organism that doesn’t want to see itself damaged and humiliated. What difference does it make to me whether it’s a lie or the truth? The main thing is to keep myself at a certain level. If I need to lie, I’ll lie, and if I need to tell the truth, I’ll tell the truth. I don’t take into account either one or the other, I consider only my inner state.

Therefore, people don’t have any understanding of what is a lie or the truth. Everything is determined only in relation to a person. You can’t say to someone, “Why are you lying?” He’ll say, “I’m not lying, for me this is the truth.” Why is it the truth? Because in this way, I support myself in the best possible condition. That’s the only truth!

Objective truth doesn’t exist because our nature is only the desire to receive pleasure and to keep ourselves in the state of maximum possible comfort at any moment in time. Therefore, what supports this state is the truth for me, and what doesn’t support it is a lie.

Question: What is a lie in the Kabbalistic sense?

Answer: In the Kabbalistic sense, everything is evaluated only with respect to the purpose of creation. Everything that is in agreement with the purpose of creation is the truth, and whatever isn’t in agreement is a lie. What leads to bestowal, love, adhesion with the upper force, and ascent to the next level is the truth. All the opposite is a lie.

Question: What if this isn’t related to the purpose of creation and exists as we do in this world? Is it the truth or a lie?

Answer: Nothing can be said. We see in different eras and in different cultures completely different criteria for truth or a lie.

Question: Does it mean that we live in the world without coordinates?

Answer: Of course. Coordinates indicate how my egoistic heart twists me. One minute I can say, “Yes, this is the truth” and the next minute I say, “No, this is a lie.”

Question: What is happiness?

Answer: Happiness is a state in which the Upper Light descends upon a person and fills him with the sensation of an eternal perfect existence.

Happiness (“Mazal” in Hebrew) means luck, which stems from the root of “nozel – drip.” When the Upper Light descends on a person, then the Upper Light flows, then, it fills him with attainment, with knowledge, and the sensation of absolutely clear, perfect, and eternal existence. This is happiness.

Question: Can such a state come without any effort on a person’s part? After all, there are people who are lucky in life.

Answer: In our limited material existence, of course. It may be that a person feels that everything is fine and that he doesn’t need anything else. He simply lives an empty life. Why not? Walk into a hut in some remote village, build yourself a cozy den there, and be happy if you can.

However, the fact is that the ego is constantly developing. It needs new fillings all the time. Otherwise, a person will not feel satisfied.

How do we make the sensations that come to our ego fill it without any problems? Only if his desire is focused on bestowal, outside of himself, will he not feel that he is empty all the time. Happiness is creating such senses that are external to us, and then we will be happy.

Question: Most people think that we need harmony, a balance of attributes, in order to attain happiness. Which attributes are we talking about?

Answer: A person can live in harmony with the world around him if the person and the world become one general collective. This can happen only if a person feels the world as himself and cares for it just as he cares about himself.
