What Should I Do with My Free Time?
Question: Each of us has weak points: some love to watch TV and some like to surf YouTube even though they understand that they could spend this time usefully for the sake of the Creator reading the sources or doing something for the group.
How do you feel about, for example, writing a memo to yourself that from now on, instead of a watching a TV series, I read sources for the sake of the Creator and put this note in some visible place? Could this work?
Answer: It might work. Why not?
Question: Is this how I can limit myself?
Answer: Yes, certainly.
Question: Is it that simple? Where is the fight?
Answer: There is no need for any fight. What do you do in your free time? Engage in some sports and prepare for lectures and lessons a bit. And everything will go smoothly.
Question: While having fun or searching for new means of earning money, a person may think he is doing something necessary. He justifies himself all the time, and these unnecessary actions become necessary.
Answer: You are pampering yourself. If a Kabbalist has some free time left, he mainly engages in sports.
Question: Can we say that we will not get anywhere if we do not chop our desire to receive into small pieces, and only the part that deals with the Torah, Mitzvot, lessons, and dissemination will remain?
Answer: Yes, until it becomes a habit.
