Room for Joy

6Precisely when one works in the form of “And you shall take for you,” meaning the work during the acceptance of the burden of the kingdom of heaven, when the body resists this work, then there is room for the joy of adornment (Baal HaSulam, Shamati, 19, “What Is ‘The Creator Hates the Bodies,’ in the Work?”).

We take upon ourselves the burden of the kingdom of heaven “like an ox to the burden and a donkey to the load,” meaning without any limitations or conditions. Then, we feel joy in being able to accept this upon ourselves.

Question: Why is the quality of joy especially important to the Creator?

Answer: It is a sign that you are working for the Creator with approval and enthusiasm, and you rush to Him with all your heart.
