Digital and Analog Thinking

610.1Question: What is the fundamental difference between an analog system and a digital one?

Answer: The analog system is superior to the digital one because there is an infinite possibility of resolution and accuracy, like with conventional vinyl records, instead of digital recordings. Real experts appreciate precisely such records because they convey all the subtlety of the sound with all the harmonics.

In numbers, however, all this needs to be digitized, or put into corresponding pulses, as it were. No matter how many instruments you have, each one must find its pulse, and they are all limited. That is, it is an incomplete transfer of information.

No matter how you build a curve out of pulses, it will be approximately a curve, but still consist of pulses inside.

It is clear that the digital system is more profitable. Thanks to it, we can go to any frequency and transmit a huge amount of information. But sensuality, subtlety, and those harmonics that no computer can catch, which are necessary specifically for our hearing and feeling, are transmitted better by a record or our old non-digital receivers and transmitters.

Question: But you said that the last generation thinks precisely through the digital system. What is the difference here from the point of view of Kabbalah?

Answer: Digital thinking is thinking with the mind, with the primitive mind. Analog thinking is thinking with feelings and is unlimited. This is the difference. The heart perceives analog, which is smooth information, a wave, and the brain perceives pulse information, and works by bits.

Comment: But many of your students are representatives of the last generation.

My Response: It seems to me that among my students there practically are no, “bit thinkers,” meaning ones who think by pulses. They might work in this area, but they do not think like that.

In general, I am sure that we will move back to the analog state—to spirituality.

Interestingly, in the spiritual world you have very clearly graduated degrees. They are digital and human feelings on them are analog. These degrees are digitized, pulsed, i.e., every second awareness, sensation, and everything else takes place within you. But the sensation itself turns directly into feelings, which are not digital, but analog.
