Question: Can you give an example of how to rise above an egoistic state?
Answer: The most common state a person goes through is when something “unpleasant” is orchestrated from above, some kind of negative incident, and then they are manipulated, supposedly revealing it to the whole world. Because of this, a person finds him or herself in a constrained, intensely anxious, stressful state, terribly afraid for their good name.
They are pressured from above to show how much they love themselves and how unwilling they are to sacrifice their ego for any thoughts about spirituality, how they are even ready to run away from spiritual work just so they would not be exposed or revealed in any way, so that their insignificance would not be shown. These are the usual exercises carried out from above on our egoism.
But it is easy to talk about this, and when you are actually in such states, living through it is almost impossible. A person constantly wavers on this borderline, back and forth: either spirituality is important to me, or my ego, my shame. They keep examining and re-examining this. This condition is given so that they constantly try to understand that they must follow the path of bestowal and rise above their shame. This cannot be ignored.
I believe that one day films and books will be created on this topic and the time will come when it will be published, not only in a purely instructive format as it is today, but also in more popular styles accessible to many.
We know that today our sources are understood by only a small percentage of the population. Therefore, (just as Baal HaSulam dreamed) we will have to write new books, create new films, and new media tools that will emotionally bring a person into these states, because reason alone cannot achieve much. These tools should prepare a person through feelings, inner definitions, and inner analyses for the perception of spiritual influences.

The First Step Is The Most Important
When In Doubt…
Advancing By “Entrances” And “Exits”
Day and night can be defined by sunrise due to the Earth’s rotation. But what is the day of the Creator and the night of the Creator? How do I check where the day and the night are? Of course, this has nothing to do with astronomy or the physical world because forces of the inanimate level operate in it.
The day and night of the Creator refer to the states one goes through. The more one advances and identifies oneself with the Creator, the closer a person gets to Him, and accordingly feels what day is and what night is for the Creator. A person feels the changes of states accompanying this process. There are no changes in the Creator; it is the person who decides whether it is the night or day of the Creator.
There is no day without night and no night without day. The Torah, of course, talks about days and nights in the spiritual sense, about the day and night of the Creator. We need to delve into these concepts and begin to live according to spiritual days and nights and realize the whole process of our development and the endless evolution of the eternal spiritual nature.
In our spiritual work, a person must come to the point where darkness shines as light and evening and morning become one day.
During the day of the Creator, all prayers are answered because at that time I am close to the Creator and in direct connection with Him: I am to Him, and He is to me. This is called the day of the Creator. Then the Creator accepts my prayers, and I understand what the Creator is addressing me with. In fact, we are always in connection with the Creator, but I do not understand it, nor do I realize that I am in contact with Him.
Waiting for the day of the Creator means striving for faith above reason, for the qualities of bestowal. Faith must become so strong that we can clearly see the Creator’s benevolent governance of the world.

Question: Is everything we do during the preparation period aimed at becoming disillusioned with our abilities?
Answer: Of course! The first phase is necessary to confirm that my entire being is singularly egoistic in all my thoughts, actions, and desires.
This egoism disconnects me from the Creator; that is the main point. I am not just an egoist, no. The egoism disconnects me from the Creator so much that I start to get angry at myself, at others, and at Him, and wonder why this is happening. I am in a struggle between Him and me and don’t know whether to justify Him or not for what is happening to me.
The most unpleasant, terrible things, happen to me with such inner scrutiny and analysis that an ordinary person does not face. To show me the lowliness of egoism, I am given situations in which I am terribly embarrassed in front of society and very afraid of “exposing” my bad thoughts and desires so as not to be judged or marginalized.
Such sensations are deliberately sent from above to shake a person so he would rise above his states, will not treat them carelessly, and would realize they are all products of his egoism. That is, in order to be in the property of bestowal, you need to think not about yourself, but you must be above yourself, not to avoid shame, but to truly reveal that the property of bestowal is worth paying anything for.
Thus, there are such internal scrutinies that you cannot describe. I believe that, in the future, there will be works of art that describe what Kabbalists discuss in their articles, but in a more artistic, psychologically detailed form.

The Condition for Transition
Our Children Are Constrained by the Clothing of the Old World
Why is the young generation so problematic?
It is because we are meant to rise to the next level of human development.
And truthfully, even if all the parents, the government, the UN, and UNESCO engage in an educational program, nothing will come of it. I am telling you this as a Kabbalist.
We must understand that the next generation is obligated to be on a different level of development. And this does not mean being more educated, knowledgeable, or successful. It means developing new instruments of perception.
The kind of communication that exists today between people is destroying us. Children connect with one another through computers; they have no need to know anything, they freely draw any information from there. Humanity is obligated to rise above all this and reveal a new world.
And as always, when transitioning from one degree to another, every generation becomes disappointed in everything it has achieved, in what can no longer satisfy it, and wishes to rise above it. And then we trample everything we have and move on to the next level.
So now, too, we must rise to a very important and special degree, to the revelation of a new world. Therefore, first of all we are forced to become disappointed in everything we have in this world. What is most precious to us—our children, grandchildren, the next generation—we see how empty they are, and we have nothing to give them.
We have prepared death for them. Everything we built for the future generation—10, 20, 30 years ago—has turned the world into a place unfit for living. And that is why our children are as they are.
This decline will continue further and further until humanity understands that there is no choice but to rise to another level of perceiving reality and another level of existence. And then they will destroy the entire old world; they will no longer be able to bear it or live in it.
They will throw away all the computers, screens, and mobile phones when they feel that none of this can fill them. For now it still seems to them that it fills them, but gradually they begin to grow tired of these games that are imposed on them. This pain, suffering, and disappointment, the hopelessness of the present state must accumulate to the limit, and then this generation will break all former values and will desire to reveal a new world.
And the revelation of the new world is exactly what the wisdom of Kabbalah speaks about. I very much hope that this will happen soon, and that I will still witness it in my lifetime. I appeal to all parents: we must think about this, and prepare this world, this foundation, from which it will be easier for the young generation to rise to the next degree!

Question: You once said that there are many souls that are revealed without clothing in bodies in this world. The body is a help for interaction between souls. But there are forms of souls that are not able to understand where they are. Does it mean that there are souls that perceive this world and others that do not feel this reality?
Answer: In the beginning, a desire was created that was obligated to descend to the very bottom, to a complete disconnection from the light. Only from this lowest state, standing on it with its own feet, does it begin to properly attain itself. But not in the place where we are now, in bodies, because the lowest state is considered to be the state in which we begin to feel the Creator.
Our current state is completely disconnected from the true reality. We exist as if in an unconscious state. We are turned and moved around, but we ourselves, in essence, do nothing. Various actions are performed on us, actions we must go through in order to develop the initial feeling of the light in ourselves, that is, the quality opposite to ours.
As soon as we become able to feel it even a little, to become aware of it, to understand it, then we will immediately find ourselves truly existing on the minimal spiritual degree. And our prior state is like an embryo in a mother’s womb, that cannot be spoken of as existing because the mother does everything for it, and it is only a preparatory process for the birth of the organism.
Although we speak of it as something that exists, something that cannot be killed, still, in any case, it is nobody and nothing. Right now, we are in exactly such a state.
But as soon as we rise to the first spiritual state, its growth begins. That is, we will continuously grow head upward, higher and higher, until the world of infinity, passing through 125 degrees, just as, for example, a human being grows from zero to 125 centimeters.

Who Can See The True Reality?
Question: There were many athletes like Brumel or Yuri Vlasov, for example, who after terrible injuries and illnesses would get back up and overcome their fate. When the Creator tests a person for strength? What is the purpose of this?
Answer: All of this is deposited into the common treasury of the collective soul of all humanity. Such people add a great deal to humanity through their destiny.
Question: What do they help humanity understand?
Answer: They raise humanity closer to the Creator.
Question: Even though they themselves sort of…
Answer: It does not matter how they personally relate to it. I am not saying they are some kind of saints. They simply raise the bar of the human being higher toward the Creator.
But I am not in favor of suffering. There are many similar examples where people choose suffering and think that through it, they rise. This is not correct.
Question: Then the natural question in such cases, and others too is “What does it mean not to suffer?”
Answer: If you clearly understand and you have the right conditions where your suffering makes someone else’s correction or progress easier, then yes. But if it is only in your imagination…
Comment: You have raised the bar now. You said: “If my suffering eases someone’s life, and fate, and soul.” You did not say “me,” but “someone else.”
My Response: Someone else, of course.
Question: “Of course!” That is high! So, it is if my suffering serves as an example for someone and I do it for the sake of the example, to show that it’s possible, to encourage them to try?
Answer: Yes.
Question: That is lofty!
You always speak about annulling before fate, before what the Creator decides. When you say this, what exactly do you mean?
Answer: I mean that I reasonably agree with what stands before me.
Question: Even with my illnesses and so on?
Answer: Of course.
Question: Do I say: “This is from You, and it is necessary for me.” Like that?
Answer: Yes.
Question: What happens then with my pain, with my suffering?
Answer: Agreeing with it creates tranquility within a person. He agrees with his fate, he agrees with the Creator, he agrees to accept everything that is allotted to him according to his destiny.
Question: Is it like an analgesic?
Answer: Yes.
Question: Is this called “annulment”?
Answer: Yes.
Question: And one must reach this?
Answer: I believe so.

One Swallow Does Not Make a Summer
Question: My daughter is still very young, but I am already terribly worried about what will happen to her when she reaches adolescence. How would you advise me to raise her?
Answer: I cannot advise on a particular case because everyone depends on everyone else. It is impossible to separate one from the others. A person is a product of society and the environment, even when that environment is artificial. The problem is that we lack a program for bringing up the new generation.
Question: This is a painful question for anyone who has children. What can we do?
Answer: I do not think anyone really cares about the kids. Parents shun responsibility and don’t want to hear about the problems of young people. They won’t want to listen to what I am saying now either because it is unpleasant. It is easier not to think about anything, as they say: “The suffering of many is half the consolation.”
Everyone thinks, “My children are no worse than others. Should I raise them differently, they will not be able to live in tomorrow’s cruel world. Better that they are like everyone else.” Indeed, one family cannot change anything; as the saying goes, “One swallow does not a summer make.” We are talking about the entire country.
We need to decide globally on what to do with the next generation. There needs to be a global consensus, a common discussion of what to do. The children are still in our hands despite everything on the Internet that we have given them. This is our problem, and we must find a solution because they are under our care.
This problem should be addressed not only at the level of a single country, but at the levels of UNESCO and the UN. Let them finally stop doing all the nonsense and realize that we are losing the younger generation. Where is education? Where is culture? Nothing is left of them. These huge organizations are not doing what they should be doing at all.
A general, global education program is needed. After all, we cannot shut down the Internet or the country, so we need an international approach. This issue should receive the highest priority because it concerns the younger generation.
In 10, 15, or 20 years, they will take our place and will be in charge of life instead of us. If we want to know what will happen then, take a look at teenagers, at how we prepare them. Unfortunately, nothing good is in sight yet.
