“A Remedy Against Death”

245.03We are discussing the topic of perception of reality in order to gradually orient ourselves in the right direction. After all, everything depends on intention. There are many people who study Kabbalah, and in particular, there are currents that have nothing in common with it.

The science of Kabbalah is intended for the correction of our nature, and the more we correct ourselves, the more we feel the upper force, reveal the upper world, become included in it, enter it, and rise above our material life. This is called “liberation from the angel of death” because we stop feeling completely dependent on our body! We rise above our animal, biological body to the degree of general nature.

I do not feel pain from cutting my nails or hair, because my body belongs to the animate level, while nails and hair belong to the vegetative level, one degree lower. And from the height of the animate level, I do not feel any loss from the loss at the vegetative level. In the same way it will happen when I rise from the animate degree to a higher degree, to the degree of Man.

“Man” is not us today. “Man” (Adam) comes from the word “similar” (Edomeh) to nature, the Creator, light. And when I become such a “man,” I will stop feeling loss from what is happening in this material life. Therefore, the science of Kabbalah is called “a remedy against death.”

Let us hope that we will attain such a degree and begin to experience spiritual life today. It all depends only on our inner efforts. Let us try to connect our inner points and appreciate this special state.

A Thousand Begin to Study, and Only One Remains

251Question: Why does Kabbalah become the meaning of life and something valuable for some people, while for others it is something unacceptable?

Answer: Those for whom Kabbalah is unacceptable have not yet felt the desire that responds to spiritual light, and therefore they reject this wisdom.

A person, being egoistic by nature, does not want to think about it. Kabbalah irritates him; on a subconscious level it obligates him to something and directs him to a completely different area from the one he is drawn to. He does not want this realm to exist; he does not want there to be a soul or a future world; he prefers to remain within the framework he has invented for himself. This is the first reason.

Secondly, people who come to Kabbalah and begin to study it suddenly discover that it says they must change themselves!

“I came here in order to receive and reveal knowledge, qualities, and feelings; in other words, to be filled. But here it says that I must fill the Creator by filling others, and that only through such movement from myself outward can I begin to sense the spiritual world. I don’t feel any attraction or inclination toward this. So, excuse me! Stay with your Kabbalah, and I’d rather leave.”

There are many people like that. When they leave, they feel deceived: It seemed that at first, they were captivated and drawn in, but then suddenly they discovered that it was not what they thought at all and that they only wasted time and energy. And they leave very disappointed.

They imagined that they would immediately grab the Creator “by the beard,” obtain this world and the future world, begin to control everything, uncover some secrets in order to fill their own precious, beloved self.

But it turns out that it is all different, in an entirely different key. The spiritual world is located on the next level, the level of bestowal, in simultaneous connection with our world, like in an electric motor.

Therefore, they leave very disappointed and become our opponents.

Yet we still support this. It is said that a thousand enter the study, and only one remains. It does not matter that they become haters of Kabbalah. How else can an egoist react?

But the person still retains a connection with Kabbalah, and gradually something seeps into him. Even as our opponent far away from us, he is still connected with us. Within him the spark he received has already begun to stir.

The Formula for Reducing Suffering, Part 3

232.01Question: What is the difference between suffering along the natural path of development and suffering when time is accelerated? If the only difference is time, does that mean I would have to suffer a hundred times more?

Answer: There are terrible tragedies that shock the entire world. The whole world feels some blows because everyone tries this situation on themselves, knowing that it could happen anywhere.

It is possible to transfer these sufferings to the spiritual level and avoid the tragedies. To what extent did these sufferings advance humanity toward goodness, toward understanding the need to work on unity? Not more than a millimeter.

Instead, it would have been enough to make the very smallest spiritual effort—to agree at least a little that salvation lies in unity, in bringing everyone closer together in our global world, to engage the heart and the mind just a bit—and we would have neutralized these sufferings.

Both paths move us toward the goal. But what an enormous amount of suffering is required to advance by the natural path. Fourteen billion years were needed for the development of inanimate nature on Earth. A couple of billion years for the plant world to develop, another billion years for animals, and another hundred thousand years for a monkey to become a human being.

Look at the proportion between inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human development. At the high, human level, development proceeds very quickly.

The same principle applies to all modern technology: it becomes faster, more sensitive, and far more powerful. The greater the force of nature, the more concealed it is and the faster it acts. This is precisely the difference between the natural path and the acceleration of time.

Many sufferings could have been avoided, and time could have been accelerated.

Question: Does this mean that tragedies and terrorist attacks will happen more and more often?

Answer: Terrorist attacks can be avoided if we use the method of unity that Kabbalah offers. As long as we do not do this, attacks will occur more frequently because the world is constantly advancing, and our egoism is steadily growing.

The world does not remain in the same state; by learning through blows, it is moving forward. It has its own dynamic of development. Egoism keeps intensifying. That is why, twenty years ago, one major blow per year was enough to teach us something, whereas today we already need twenty blows a year.

Our egoism has grown. It is like a child who has become more egoistic, ruthless, and stubborn, and therefore must be punished more than one who is merely a little lazy. That is why today the world receives far more blows than it did ten years ago. And if we do not begin to advance by the path of light, this will continue: blow after blow, more and more.

I only hope that it will not come to natural disasters. For now, it is limited to global warming and typhoons, but if we do not engage in our correction, it could reach real natural cataclysms.

What to Dedicate the Coming Year to

963.4Question: At one time, I observed how birds fly and was very surprised; they are truly a single organism. Some descend and rest, others take off and form shapes that are simply indescribable. They feel one another, and they have no leader. Is it really possible for people to reach such a state?

Answer: There is nothing to achieve. You only need to group together, and then you will discover the force that connects and forms us all.

The point is that it is not that we become smart. Birds aren’t that intelligent, they simply reveal the connection between themselves on the animate level, and then the common force of the Creator manifests within them from within. They simultaneously feel Him, governs them, and is their foundation.

Question: Is this the unity that you speak about all the time?

Answer: Of course. And when humanity reaches this, it moves as one. These are amazing manifestations of unity, harmony, eternity, perfection, and transcendence over life and death, over the limitations in which we exist. Moreover, completely boundless perspectives manifest here in all sensations—the world of infinity.

This is not carried out by us but by the upper force. We only need to move forward and demand from it to do this.

I think that we will devote the coming year precisely to such rapprochement, to connection into one common body. And then we will discover the Creator within this common body, the force that in fact governs absolutely the entire universe, everyone in a single movement, like a flock of birds or fish.

The wisdom of Kabbalah speaks only about this. Rapprochement, adhesion, connection into one single organism, a return to one unified organism, these are the 125 degrees that we must traverse. All of Kabbalah is built on this. It simply explains to us with mathematical precision and meticulous detail what needs to be done. First, it explains in words that we can understand: egoism, altruism, rapprochement, hatred, and love.

And then, when we pass into the sensation of these qualities, it explains in terms of measurements, in specific dimensions (so many grams, so many such-and-such forces) how to work systemically, consciously grouping this system, and understanding it. Because by returning to this complete, integral system, we attain the Creator, His actions, how He formed and assembled us, and in what manner He created this system.

Self-Envy

197.01We have no other means of advancement, no other lever by which I can move forward, except the influence of the environment. If all of me, completely and entirely, is concentrated within myself, what force can direct me the other way, from inside outward? I have no such forces within me.

All my forces act “for me,” “for my own sake.” How can I create the opposite action “for the sake of others (the neighbor)”? Where can such a force of nature be obtained?

For this purpose, the soul has been created in a divided state, in two parts: myself and the surrounding world. We are given a single freedom—to choose what is more important. If you want to attain spirituality, organize your environment so that it becomes more important to you than yourself.

In truth, this is not an external environment, but my own soul, my AHP, the “garments” and “palaces” of my soul’s Kli. It only appears to me as being outside.

Envy and the desire for honor draw you to the environment, to the parts of your soul. Organize them artificially so that they influence you.

From our level, we are given a psychological approach that is inwardly spiritual. By connecting with these desires (Kelim) that supposedly surround me, and by seemingly using my envy and desire for honor, I am essentially drawing these desires back to myself, so that they are connected with me and define my system of values.

So where do envy and the desire for honor come from? From the breaking of the soul into two parts—myself and the world.

Wishing to use the “help against him” (against my ego,) I activate these external desires of mine so that they, in turn, influence me. Later we will reveal that we are working only with ourselves, with our desires, with our qualities, and that everything was arranged this way from the beginning.

But without organizing the environment, there is no (and never will be) another force capable of “taking me by the ear” and directing me toward my true desires, toward the soul. There is no other force in the world.

Suffering can only make me more sensitive so that I will want to seek a solution. But the solution will be the same—to place myself under the influence of the environment.

Why Are So Many Worlds Needed?

630.2Question: Why are so many worlds needed?

Answer: The spiritual worlds are needed in order to rise to the level of the Creator. The fact is that the light of the Creator began to influence the desire that He created, and this desire developed continuously under its influence until it reached the 125th degree called our world. At that point, the general desire shattered and broke.

Now, by gradually gathering and reassembling it, we must ascend from our world back through 125 degrees to the level of the Creator.

Question: In our corporeal world, everything is divided into many small objects, like a honeycomb. We see the world divided into inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human nature. But in spirituality, all phenomena take place within one body. How should we understand this?

Answer: In spirituality, everything takes place within a single common desire. There, many opposite inclinations, directions, and qualities are united by one common screen. I collect all the pluses and minuses as if into one bag, tie it up, and want to use it to bring contentment to the Creator. As a result, in bringing contentment to Him, I receive contentment for myself.

What Is Faith?

962.3Question: Why do you constantly speak about faith when Kabbalah is a science and attainment, and faith is a philosophical, religious concept?

Answer: Faith is the property of bestowal. In our world, this quality does not exist, because even if I give something, I do it with the aim of subsequent receiving. I cannot give simply for the sake of giving.

The property of the spiritual world, however, is the quality of bestowal. It is called faith. Do not confuse it with what we understand by faith in our world.

In our world, a believing person closes his eyes and does something completely thoughtlessly. This is a completely unrealistic, illogical, and baseless action.

In Kabbalah, faith is the force of bestowal that we receive from the upper light.
