The Point Of Choice

laitman_740.01Torah, Deuteronomy 28:29: You will grope at midday, as the blind man gropes in the dark, and you will be unsuccessful in your ways. You will be only oppressed and robbed all the days, and no one will save [you].

To enter the land of Israel means to reach the desires that can be directed toward bestowal and love and at the same time reveal the Creator between them. If we can master the upper light that surrounds us, then we will be in heaven, and if not, we will be in hell. It is one of the two states.

Question: Is it that a person must think repeatedly about whether he should go to the land of Israel or not. Or is he already going there and cannot turn back, saying: “I cannot”?

Answer: He cannot turn back, just as today we cannot do anything; whatever stands before us is what it is. Let’s say we are moving toward war. Can we move toward peace? We can. But what do we choose? We choose one of the two. However, one of the two is still before us.

Question: Nevertheless, are we told: “Are you moving toward war?”

Answer: No. We have either a blessing or a curse. The same thing is true here: if you cannot succeed, then you will be thrown back many degrees in order to begin ascending again.

“The Lord Will Strike You…”

laitman_207Torah, Deuteronomy 28:27:The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with hemorrhoids, with oozing sores, and with dry lesions, from which you will be unable to be cured.

This means that at all levels the desire will be turned inside out and all your intentions that you could direct to bestowal, love, and connection with the Creator will turn into egoistic qualities that will humiliate and subdue you.
On the material level, all of this appears on the skin because skin is Malchut, the outermost layer.

Torah, Deuteronomy 28:28: The Lord will strike you with insanity, with blindness, and with bewilderment.

Insanity is damage on the level of the head (Mocha).

Blindness means that you see and feel nothing; that is, you cannot choose correctly and make decisions.

Bewilderment is an inability to analyze what is happening to you. You lose yourself completely, like a person who has gone mad and doesn’t know where he is and who he is. However, even this state is often absent in a madman.

In other words, a person who wanted to ascend to a higher degree was unable to take this height and shattered into pieces. However, he had to master it because it was up to him.

If You Do Not Ascend To A Spiritual Degree….

Laitman_002Torah, Deuteronomy 28:32: Your sons and daughters will be given over to another people, and your eyes will see [this] and long for them all day long, but you will be powerless.

The Torah lists the losses that are expected at different levels if you do not ascend to one or another spiritual degree.

You could connect with your friends and with your people and make a common Kli (vessel) in which the Creator would be revealed. Instead, new opposite qualities are revealed to you and you lose everything that you had.

“Therefore, You Will Serve Your Enemies…”

laitman_532Torah, Deuteronomy 28:48: Therefore, you will serve your enemies, whom the Lord will send against you, [when you are] in famine, thirst, destitution, and lacking everything, and he will place an iron yoke upon your neck, until he has destroyed you.

Question: It is unclear why I should serve my enemy “in famine, thirst, destitution, and lacking everything” and not rebel against him.

Answer: This is because you have no power against your enemy, egoism. You are like a rabbit that is moving into the jaws of a boa constrictor, and you are unable to do anything. Egoism defeats you and at the same time shows your insignificance. You are powerless against it because it has control over you, and it demonstrates this.

Moreover, you feel that all this comes from the Creator.

Question: Do I also curse the Creator?

Answer: Naturally. By the way, the Creator does not care about a person’s attitude toward Him. The most important thing is to have some kind of relationship. Even if you curse Him, you are more preferable to Him than one who does not feel and does not address Him.

Be Blessed!

Laitman_633_1Torah, Deuteronomy 27:26: Cursed be he who does not uphold the words of this Torah, to fulfill them. And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’

If you don’t do this in intention and in action, then you will call a curse upon yourself as a result.

In intention is understandable, but why also in action? It is because everyone has these opportunities in the spiritual form. You must react correctly to all the actions that you will come across. If you don’t do this, you will receive a curse.

Question: How do I avoid incorrect actions in order not to kill the next degree in myself?

Answer: Only the right environment through which the upper Light shines on you constantly and holds you all the time, like in the space elevated above the ground, can save you from the transgressions, that is from a curse.

So, be blessed and not cursed.

“You Shall Plant A Vineyard, But You Will Not Redeem It[s Fruits]”

laitman_759Torah, Deuteronomy 28:30: You shall plant a vineyard, but you will not redeem it[s fruits].

The vineyard symbolizes the fruit of reason, wisdom.

To plant a vineyard means to begin to interact correctly through Bina with Hochma so that the fruit of Hochma (the Light of knowledge) is revealed in the Light of Bina (Light of bestowal, mercy).

It is very difficult to ascend to this level. If a person who is in the land of Israel does not correctly interact with his desire, he cannot use the grapes, that is, the wine that embodies the Light of Hochma.

By the way, wine is a special non-perishable product. Recently, during archaeological excavations, wine dating back to the time of the Temple was discovered. It thickened, became jelly-like, but retained its properties, taste, and smell.

Salt and oil relate to the same group of products. Oil thickens, becomes pasty, but is still preserved. Wine, oil, and salt are the basis of the existence of nature itself, they have a very high spiritual root.

While oil simply drips from the olives, wine is produced by pressing the grapes and getting the juice. And earlier fermented wine was not used, it infused by itself, but grape juice was preferred. And it is said that a man would squeeze a bunch of grapes and bless the juice.

While making oil, it is best to put the olives in a large tub with a hole through which the oil flows down. The oil, which is obtained not by pressing, but in a natural way is considered the best and can be stored forever.

Salt, which embodies the inanimate stage of egoism, relates to the same group of eternal non-perishable products.

Question: The inanimate stage, in principle, does not develop. Are grapes and olives also related to it?

Answer: No. You yourself bring them to a point where they no longer develop.

All these processes are described in Talmud Eser Sefirot (The Study of the Ten Sefirot). There it is written about the laws of cooking and storing food and  their spiritual levels and sources in a very interesting way. After all, in our world, we must act according to the way that spiritual forces are arranged in relation to a man.

“They Will Flee From You In Seven Directions”

Laitman_632.1Torah, Deuteronomy 28:07: The Lord will cause your enemies who rise up against you, to be beaten before you; they will come out against you in one direction, but they will flee from you in seven directions.

There is one force that spoils everything, our egoism. However, when we begin to work with it, the upper Light breaks it down into a spectrum of seven paths from red to ultraviolet.

By decomposing into seven parts, as through a prism, egoism reveals before you the entire picture on which you read the qualities of the Creator, interact with Him, and adhere to Him. That is, you discover yourself. The prism is you. Everything passes through you.

Egoism adds one single egoistic desire to you. You connect with the upper Light that returns to the source, which, passing through you, builds a prism out of you. So, it turns out that you already consist of seven Sefirot, seven colors: Hessed, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yessod, and Malchut. These seven colors give you a complete picture of the Creator—the source of the Light itself. Thus, you become a person.

Question: How can we break this down into three lines? Does this mean that the left line is one force and the right line covers it?

Answer: Both lines complement each other, as it is written, ”The darkness will shine like the light.” There is no difference between night and day because they are opposite; all the lights are manifested. The lights are revealed in the middle line with the correct combination of the left line and the right line.

“And The Lord Will Grant You Good Surplus In The Fruit Of Your Womb”

laitman_275Torah, Deuteronomy 28:11: And the Lord will grant you good surplus in the fruit of your womb, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your soil, on the land which the Lord swore to your forefathers, to give you.

All the egoistic desire that arise within you now is called the land of Israel. It does not arise in ordinary people; they do not reach these huge, extremely egoistic, and antagonistic desires. And you will begin to feel them. This is called the entrance to the land of Israel.

You process these desires; that is, you subjugate them to your intention of bestowal and love, and thus you receive blessing in your country.

It is written, “And the Lord will grant you good surplus in the fruit of your womb.” Surplus means the revelation of the Light of Hochma. In the desert, before the entrance to the land of Israel, the Light of Hassadim was revealed and now the Light of Hochma is revealed, due to which birth and development take place.

The Light of Hassadim just holds you in a steady state of expectation. However, we need to develop it too because the Light of Hochma dresses into it. Therefore, as soon as the Light of Hochma begins approaching, immediately there is a need for the Light of Hassadim. After all, without it the Light of Hochma is like a sharp knife or fire that destroys everything. These are called Dinim, the qualities of judgment.

Question: Does it mean that everything that happens today in the world is a consequence of the deficiency of the Light of Hassadim?

Answer: Yes. Huge, egoistic desire appears. Above it is the Light of Hochma that must enter this desire. However, the space that the Light of Hassadim must fill is empty. We need to attract the Light of Hassadim, and we can only do this if we will relate to each other correctly.

If we reach the Light of Hassadim, then grace will pour out into the entire world.

“You Will Grope At Midday”

laitman_571.06Torah, Deuteronomy 28:29: You will grope at midday, as the blind man gropes in the dark, and you will be unsuccessful in your ways. You will be only oppressed and robbed all the days, and no one will save [you].

This is a state of darkness when you do not see anything, as in the parable about the rooster and the bat: For the bat, darkness is light, and for the rooster, darkness is darkness and light is light.

At midday, you walk like a blind man in darkness because you do not reveal light in the light—in the intention of bestowal and love. You see only negative things in this. How can we break through this state by getting closer to others and discover salvation in unity?

We are always in the Light, but we do not understand and do not feel it. For us, it is the other way around and that is why we run away.

Our task is to attain that the Light constantly exists in connection, which should be revealed more and more between us.

“Blessed Will Be Your Basket”

Laitman_509Torah, Deuteronomy 28:04: Blessed will be the fruit of your womb, the fruit of your soil, the fruit of your livestock, the offspring of your cattle, and the flocks of your sheep.

If from the point of view of the human level you are in aspiration to the Creator, then all the lower levels: animate, vegetative, and inanimate will also aspire to the same equivalence. Therefore, there will always be a blessing on these levels.

Torah, Deuteronomy 28:05 – 28:06: Blessed will be your basket and your kneading bowl. You shall be blessed when you come, and you shall be blessed when you depart.

This is about entering the spiritual degree and exiting from it.

Our life is a clear consequence of the way we build from ourselves equivalence to the spiritual world, to our spiritual roots.

The Torah does not speak about any objects and phenomena of our world, not about goats, sheep, people, houses, cities, and everything else, although it seems like it speaks about this. These are all spiritual qualities of a person who aspires to the upper world; they all are within him. The Torah explains how these qualities of a person receive a blessing.

Comment: It is amazing that even the exit from the spiritual degree, the fall from it, is also blessed.

Answer: This is the way out for the future ascent. It is written: “The Torah will come from Zion.” It is from these exits that the next degree appears—you attract more Light on yourself, and you must bless for both good and bad.

It is written: “Blessed will be your basket.” Your basket and your kneading bowl are the Kelim (vessels) that you fill with the upper Light on this degree, and you do it for the sake of bestowal.
