The task of entering the Land of Israel is to work with one’s egoistic desires. It is called Eretz – land, earth, from the word “Ratzon” – “Desire.”

But to become the desires of “Israel” – Yasher Kel, directed straight to the Creator, that is, to bestowal, love, and connection between all—these desires still have to be defeated.

Therefore, we must first create all these systems in ourselves in order to undertake the correction of egoistic desires.

While we were in the desert, these desires were hidden and did not work, and we were engaged only in the accumulation of the Light of Hassadim , which is acquiring the property of bestowal and rising above egoism.

After forty years of full ascension from Malchut to Bina, we descend back to Malchut. Here we begin practical work, but this time we work with our egoism. Previously we just rose above it, but now we are turning every egoistic action into an altruistic one. This is a completely different kind of work.

Question: Once you gave an example of a balloon. If you fill it with a gas lighter than air, it flies to the ceiling, and if you fill it with a heavier gas, it drops to the ground. Does this mean that the entrance to the Land of Israel is a heavier fulfillment and it pulls you down?

Answer: Of course. Egoistic properties always pull you down. Our task is to soar up with all our heavy egoism. But it’s not that scary since everything is done with the help of the Upper Light, the upper force. Our job is just to master this technique.
