What Does the Creator Want to Tell Us?

222Question: If such a request, a prayer, to the Creator, truly arises, what will happen? Will He respond?

Answer: The Creator is already responding; we just don’t understand His answers.

He tells us that if we follow the right path, that is, if we abandon our egoistic goals, then we will elevate ourselves to the next level of development.

There we will be completely different. First of all, we will no longer be immersed in ourselves, in our egoism. We will strive to create a reality where everyone is equal. And beyond that, the most important thing for us will be to feel the necessity of holding on to each other, of staying together. This is what the Creator wants to bring us to.

Question: Are you talking about all of humanity? About relationships between people, between countries, between everything? Is this our next degree?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Why don’t we want to move toward it? It sounds very appealing, considering the state of our reality.

Answer: “Do I have to think about others? I can’t, and I don’t want to.” That is what every person feels.

Question: And the Creator will give us this ability if we turn to Him?

Answer: Yes.

Question: But do I have to truly desire this next stage?

Answer: I have to reach the realization that I must desire it.

Comment: It seems like this desire can only come from something very bad.

My Response: Gradually, that is exactly what we are descending into.

Question: So we will be brought to something very bad, to the point where we finally ask: “Give us the ability to be together”?

Answer: Yes.

The Soul of a Doctor

547.02Question: What is a doctor in a spiritual sense?

Answer: This is a very complex topic because an ordinary person entrusts a doctor with the most valuable thing they have. After all, a person does not live a spiritual life. What they possess is their ordinary life, their physical body. And when this physical body no longer obeys them, they hope it will obey the doctor. In this sense, the doctor becomes a supreme being to them.

A doctor feels this attitude from the person and accordingly the immense responsibility that comes with it. They cannot simply brush it off and move on. Meanwhile they may have dozens if not hundreds of patients. Day in and day out new patients are added while the old ones weigh on them, and so on. It is an enormous workload.

No one teaches doctors that they need to be like gods, nor is there any serious psychological support provided to them. Furthermore, we lack a clear medical code that defines how a doctor should interact with a patient, even though the patient imposes their perception of the doctor as a Healer with a capital “H.”

Today the relationship between patients and doctors is not like it was in ancient societies where people generally understood that they live and die and a doctor could help to some extent. Nowadays the doctor is placed on such a pedestal that your life is entirely in their hands, or so it seems. This is incredibly challenging. It is extremely difficult for a modern person to stand on such a pedestal.

Question: Why does a person not just change their profession? It would be easier to leave.

Answer: No, they cannot change. They cannot leave. Being a doctor is not just a profession. First of all, becoming a doctor takes 10 to 15 years. Second, it carries immense responsibility toward society, toward family, toward everyone. Third, it involves honor, respect, and the public’s attitude toward the doctor.

This is a calling you cannot simply walk away from. As a result, a doctor feels trapped in this role.
The entire field of medicine is in an unhealthy state. However, it is starting to realize this. Efforts are being made in some places to address these issues. Unfortunately, it is a very difficult path of awareness, purification, and improvement.

Question: How can we help doctors?

Answer: Doctors can only be helped if a spiritual minister is placed alongside them. It does not matter who, a psychologist for example, which is essentially the same thing. This person must be present and take on the psychological burden of the patient.

When a doctor, for instance, gives a patient an injection, the spiritual minister holds the patient’s hand. In this way, the person is cared for both spiritually and physically. They are supported. The essence of the person, their soul and body, is tended to by two specialists.

We cannot escape this necessity, because our souls are constantly evolving. They are becoming increasingly complex and delicate. As they develop into more intricate systems, they reveal more and more of their internal subsystems, which makes them harder to manage. Therefore even the simplest person today is not like those of the past.

Take someone who lived, say, 200 years ago, a writer, poet, or artist, and compare them to a modern individual. You will find that even a vagrant today has a more refined psychological state and greater sensitivity than an intellectual from two centuries ago.

That is why we have no choice but to take serious care of people today.

Question: Which is more challenging, the illness of the soul or the illness of the body?

Answer: An inner illness of the soul is far more difficult because it is the root of all illnesses—all of them! If a person has the right attitude toward the world, you could immerse them in icy water for an hour, and they would remain unharmed.

Question: And what is the right attitude toward the world?

Answer: The right attitude is being in harmony, not only with the physical world, but most importantly with one’s inner nature. They do not feel separate from it.

Question: How can this state be achieved?

Answer: There are various techniques, but not Eastern ones. Though Eastern practices achieve this somewhat, they are no longer effective for modern individuals because they primarily worked on a primitive level of connecting a person to nature and the surrounding world to create some unity between the inner world and nature.

The problem is that the inanimate, vegetative, and animal degrees of nature coexist within one another. But humans evolve at an extraordinary speed. As a result, they suddenly feel detached from nature, rise above it, and create artificial forms of existence. They step outside the boundaries of nature.

This separation occurred thousands of years ago. However, the most significant detachment happened around the Middle Ages and beyond over the last 300 to 400 years. This has led to psychological, physical, and other problems.

On one hand we compensate for this detachment through knowledge of our nature and attempt to address the issues mechanically. On the other hand we can no longer live harmoniously with nature like animals. We are no longer part of nature. We have risen above it. As a result, we try to dominate, suppress, and control it. But of course, nothing good comes of this.

Question: What is needed?

Answer: We need to understand how we can complement nature and how nature can complement us.

Question: We began this conversation by discussing how medical students increase the risk of suicide during their training. What “pill” can be given to help them grow stronger with this knowledge and counteract the threat?

Answer: A person must understand the world they live in. They must see the interconnectedness and wholeness of our world. They must view themselves as the highest integral part of this world, and complement it. They need to understand how their harmony, inner and outer, affects the world. Only then will everything fall into place with no problems for doctors and no societal grievances toward them.

Question: How can they consistently return to this understanding to draw strength from it?

Answer: Doctors must be taught not only about “pills,” so to speak. There is also a correction of the soul. There is no other way. The correction of the soul correction is essential.

A doctor is not just a doctor. We cannot separate a person’s inner part from their outer part and neglect the soul simply because no one knows what it is. We must see the person as a connected whole. Only then can we understand health.

Health is essentially the balance between all parts of a person. Today, what relates to the mind or psychology is the main problem that destabilizes people and must be balanced. We will reach this understanding. But how much more suffering and awareness will it take?

Doctors are already experiencing such states and will ultimately help us in this realization. They will come to understand that this is precisely what they lack, and that the patient is a whole being. Therefore hospitals, clinics, and life in general must include specialists who help balance the soul.

After all, medicine is about achieving balance within the human systems. Each system has a spiritual and a material part. Doctors learn to manage the material part, but the spiritual part must also be balanced.

By achieving this, we can alleviate much of the burden on the material side. Through inner balance and the right attitude toward oneself and the world, we can achieve equilibrium that impacts our material systems. In essence, this is what we call “disease” or “health”—our balance at all levels.

The Secret of a Strong Marriage

506.4Question: Divorce is a major world problem. Over the past 40 years, twice as many people have decided to end relationships, and in some places the divorce rate exceeds 70%.

The causes of divorce are considered to be hasty, thoughtless wedlock, marriage for money, adultery, sexual dissatisfaction, incompatibility of characters, emotional immaturity for family life, and alcohol abuse. There are many more reasons.

Why do you think this is happening?

Answer: A modern person cannot stand another person next to him all the time. He simply cannot! Just because he is a big egotist.

Egoism has increased because our egos are constantly growing. We are undergoing an egoistic evolution, and one person cannot tolerate another next to him. “How long can I take this?! Why?!” and so on. Meaning it is better to break up. People may live as if they are not even married because it is hard to break up or for some other reason.

Question: Still there are strong marriages. For example, I have been married for 38 years. You are already approaching your golden anniversary.

Answer: That is true. But I live between my wife, children, and my group. This is not an ordinary life either. I cannot be an example, not to mention my terrible character traits.

But divorce? I have never even considered it. I never thought I could get divorced and leave my wife and children. No, I bought an apartment and transferred it to my wife. I have nothing at all! Seriously.

I took care of my children so each of them would be provided for and have an education, a home, and everything else. I made sure they got married; it is a must! So I could do my work in peace. These are the most important things.

If you have children, you have to take care of them. The main thing is the children.

Question: Is this the worst about divorce? Do children feel like they do not have a dad or mom?

Answer: The child suffers from the absence of a parent, any parent! Either mom or dad. Of course, a mother more so, but a father too. It leaves a mark on them. This cannot be forgiven!

Children consider their father’s departure from them as a betrayal, as a divorce from them. And they do not forget that. They cannot. That is, the child feels that “Dad has left me.” And this is, of course, very difficult.

Question: And when love is gone?

Answer: What love?!

Comment: They say: “Love is gone,” this is how they justify it.

My Response: Where did it go? I do not understand that word. I only know one thing: if people live together, if they are more or less understanding and well-mannered, they can create comfortable conditions for life together. Not good or happy, but comfortable together.

Question: Do they form such an alliance of convenience?

Answer: Of course! What is marriage in the first place? A joint household where you believe that you can support each other and help each other, you are satisfied with that. That is the first thing. All else changes in a person every few years in other directions.

After all, today we live five times longer than 200 years ago, not to mention 1,000 years ago. The Pharaoh lived for 20 to 22 years. The Pharaoh! Even though he was served everything in silver, everything was washed, cleaned, normal, environmentally friendly products, he lived for only 22 years.

Can we even imagine this?! What is 22 years old today? One is not even an adult.

Question: Another aspect is keeping the family together, what should a woman be like, and what should a man be like in this union?

Answer: There must be education. Whatever happens, after all, thousands of different states and “adventures” can happen to anyone throughout their lives, but you know you have a family, and your duty is to support and accompany them. For as long as you live, you must care for them. This is the first thing. And feelings, you cannot build anything based on them.

Comment: You have often said that a man looks for his mother in a woman.

My Response: That is right. A man looks for something from his mother in a woman. And if he finds it, it ensures his devotion to her.

Question: If a married woman understands that her husband is looking for a mother, does this ensure a union?

Answer: Yes, the Torah says that in the time of the forefathers, the bride was brought to his mother’s tent, and after she lived with her mother-in-law for a while, the man married her.

She learned from his mother how to serve him, what to do with him, what he likes and dislikes, etc. She watched and learned everything, including how his mom cooks.

Comment: That is, she was learning to be a mother to her husband. This is, of course, a paradox.

My Response: How is this a paradox?

Comment: She did not come here to learn how to be a wife but to be a mother to him.

My Response: You cannot imagine how a man gets attached to a woman if she reminds him of his mother. He will look at her as a child! He will always catch his mother in her.

Question: Will he never want to get divorced?

Answer: Never! What does it mean to get divorced? Leave Mom?

Question: So Mom cannot be abandoned?

Answer: Right.

Comment: The phrase from the wife: “Go to your mommy! I am not your mother! Let her bake your cake for you!”

My Response: Oh, see what arguments they bring: “I am not your mother!” That is the problem.

Comment: This is probably where a large percentage of divorces occur, when a woman does not take on the function of the mother.

My Response: She must understand this is the only way to keep a man, to make him her own! Just like that; there is nothing you can do about it. It is in the Torah, written in black and white in the Bible.

Question: So maybe you are revealing the secret of all divorces, and we do not need any psychologists?

Answer: This is the secret of an explicit relationship. For the rest of his life, a man will see his mother in his wife and will not run away from her anywhere.

Question: So what is the man in the family?

Answer: If he clings to her, what else does she need?

Question: Is this her safety? Is this what she is looking for in him?

Answer: Nothing else. He will do everything to make her feel good and will give her compliments every day.

Question: Will he make money and work?

Answer: Sure, I know this for sure; it is human nature.

Question: What does a woman need in a man? The feeling of safety?

Answer: First of all, attention. Attention to her, to the children, to the home. That is, are you getting married? This is it! The bride goes to her mother-in-law and learns from her all the weaknesses of her son. She knows how to work with him like a woman: to give him something, make something, and do something that reminds him of his mother. A man gets bought immediately, instantly, and forever.

Comment: And he will do everything she wants.

Answer: He needs it necessarily. A man does not give birth; he remains a child; therefore, this buys him.

Question: So he is still a child? All the time? Even in his 70s and 80s?

Answer: It does not matter! His whole life.

Comment: People may not be outraged, but they will ask: “Still, what about a man? Everything revolves around a woman.”

My Response: A man should bring everything a woman requires; there is no need for anything else. This is true in the material world. But in the spiritual world, everything is different; it is the opposite.

The family does not overlap with a man’s spiritual development. This is his privilege and prerogative; it is purely his personal choice. In this regard, he is the man and the head of the family. This concerns spiritual development. As for the material world, it is up to a woman.

In spiritual development, a man is in command; in material development a woman is.

Question: If a man is in charge of spiritual development, is the role of a woman to let him take care of his soul?

Answer: Yes, of course.

Comment: And then he will also provide her with everything she needs.

My Response: Twice as much!

Is Loneliness Beneficial?

564Question: “I’m a singleton” is a new trend in society that is gaining momentum. More than 50% of Americans are single these days. In Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland—about 40%.

In Russia, about 40% of people have the status of singles, i.e., they are not registered as married. At the same time, 79% of them do not feel lonely at all, and 54% are not afraid of the absence of a partner.

They say: “I do not feel lonely, and I do not understand people who are trying their best to change this.”

What is the benefit of loneliness?

Answer: I think a person realizes himself very well during this state. He does not pay attention to any side responsibilities, he does not owe anyone anything. He creates himself and his lifestyle in such a way that he is as comfortable as possible so that his free time is used as correctly and effectively as possible.

But this is character. Not everyone should be like that. There are people who want a family, who want to be in a family with small children sitting on “their heads.”

How a person grows up is very important. If I grew up in a family with well–off, culturally developed parents, doctors, and the house was full of books, everything was good and right, and I consider myself an only child (I have a brother, but he is much younger), so I do not feel that I have to be in the circle of a huge family. And there are people who are the opposite.

Comment: Living in a marriage, people often feel like strangers. And over time, this alienation grows.

My Response: This happens because our egoism is constantly growing. Each year it becomes harder to get along with others. Naturally! In recent years, egoism has been growing exponentially. This is evident even in young children and how they are today.

I believe we should not judge anything. We should acknowledge the fact that humanity is developing in this way.

If you want to correct this, the focus should not be on correcting specific things that you dislike, but on improving the overall atmosphere of humanity, elevating it to a higher degree, and distancing it somewhat from egoism. This would lead to better relationships between people.

It does not necessarily mean that people will suddenly form families or have children. No, but their interactions with each other will improve. People will feel more comfortable. Perhaps this will encourage them to step out of their “shells” and communicate more.

However, we can see today that everything is already geared for minimal interaction: food delivery, laundry services, and everything can be ordered online. There is no need to do any of it yourself.

Question: What is the meaning of connection between people?

Answer: To rise above our egoism and in that ascent discover the upper world. If that purpose is not there, I see no reason to regret that many people live alone.

Other People’s Children, Not Your Own

555Question: In Israel, parents of small children aged three months to three years took to the streets to demand that the Ministry of Education and the government establish oversight over nurseries. We know of numerous cases where caregivers treated infants inadequately and abusively, and even lead to fatal outcomes.

Why does hatred arise toward what seems to be the kindest and most innocent thing in the world, a small child?

Answer: Firstly, these are other people’s children, not their own. Although even with their own such attitudes can occur.

The thing is, love and hate, life and death, are very close to one another, practically side by side. They accompany each other and sometimes literally replace one another.

This comes from human nature because the transition from love to hate is very unclear and fragile. The same powerful desires are at work, but they switch poles, a kind of polarization occurs, and this is the result.

We know that the same happens with parents. What about parents who forget their children in the car? They just erase them from their minds entirely. And what can you do about that?

And when we talk about caregivers for whom this is just a job, perhaps even one they hate, that they are forced to do because they cannot do anything else but still need to earn a living, those children become objects of their hatred.

To the extent that they hate their work and their miserable, underprivileged lives, they transfer all of that onto the children.

Today’s egoism, today’s intolerance is found in both women and men, and the attitude toward the world and toward children is unnatural. We live in a generation where egoism compels us to correct it; otherwise, we will not survive.

Question: You said the transition between love and hate is very fragile. How can a person regulate or recognize this moment of transition so they do not lose control?

Answer: There cannot be love without hate, nor hate without love, just as there cannot be a positive without a negative. They work together. But what to consider positive and what negative depends on the person.

Therefore if I love myself, then I see negatives in everyone else. But if I wish to correct myself and see my own flaws, then I can see positives in others.

And here arises a very serious problem. In our time, desires and traits emerge in us that we are obligated to correct into their polar opposites. If we do not do this, you see what happens.

I do not blame those caregivers in nurseries or daycare, nor people who exhibit various sadistic or abusive tendencies, because they just don’t work on them. The human masses need care, work, and education. Before becoming caregivers, they need to be nurtured, and this is not being done.

Question: Is it possible to become a teacher or caregiver not by vocation, not naturally, but through the education or training you are talking about?

Answer: This is very difficult. Because instead of a natural inclination to be a caregiver, if you do not want to be one, you will need to imagine a higher goal that you want to achieve, and therefore be ready to become a caregiver. This requires very serious work on oneself.

Question: A person is a cluster of hormones, chemistry, and so on. Education accounts for only 10% of who a person becomes. What else is added to a person besides these hormones and chemistry that causes them to shift from a state of goodwill to evil? How does egoism suddenly explode within them?

Answer: The fact is, we have become very close to one another, yet we do not work on ourselves. As a result, we negatively influence each other. Mass media, all of this has a tremendous impact. I constantly see bad images and examples before me, and it costs me nothing to imitate them. I imitate them involuntarily.

So everything we see on screens or smartphones enters us and forces us to act like those so-called “heroes” we see. Essentially, the entire problem lies with the media.

Question: Let us take someone who, on the one hand wants to be a caregiver, a teacher, a mother, or a parent. They treat a child or children well, but suddenly there comes a moment when they feel something rising within them they cannot control. What should they do?

Answer: Yes, they cannot control themselves because, again, their inner impulses are stronger than all the restraining factors. Even those they have heard or read about, like how people are punished for being like this, do not help. They cannot restrain themselves; their restraining mechanism shuts down. That is it. Nothing can be done.

The whole issue is that we must provide people with proper examples of behavior, both with each other and with children.

No fear or punishment can restrain or hold back anything—only a good example can.

How to Give Compliments Correctly

229Question: We live in the hustle and bustle of life, often forgetting our loved ones, family, colleagues, and friends. We forget to say kind words, to acknowledge that they are important and needed, that they are remarkable.

There is a saying: “Words can kill, and words can heal.” Why is it so important for a person to hear compliments?

Answer: Because a person is an egoist. That is why it is so crucial for them to hear good things about themselves. And if bad things are said, it hurts them in a different way, conversely.

Comment: But we know that when a person hears something good, they are immediately ready to meet others halfway and do something for them. And vice versa.

My Response: Of course. For them, it is a reward, so they are ready. It is a great incentive for their egoism.

However, if a person has a goal in life, sees that goal as true and correct, has decided on it, and acts accordingly, then others may say good or bad things about their behavior, goal, actions, or life, and it would not affect them at all. This is because they are confident they are acting correctly.

Compliments in our time are insincere interactions because they are always egoistic.

If I inspire someone, if I push them toward a goal, it should simply be my ongoing work—to help others rise and move forward toward the goal of life, to achieve it. And in doing so, I am not offering a compliment, but am providing a necessary element of progress.

Question: Does the soul require compliments?

Answer: Our egoism requires compliments. That is our entire foundation, that is who we are: egoists!

And so when someone tells me, “Wow! Look at you! You’re amazing!” and so forth, I feel important, gain energy, and can do something. I am ready to repay such a person the same way because they have inspired me. But fundamentally, this is all because we are egoists.

Strictly speaking, relationships should not be built on compliments but on mutual support, where every person supports every other person in their pursuit of life’s goals.

Question: What does proper mutual support look like?

Answer: It is setting an example of “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

People see that you are working on yourself to unite with others, to correct yourself, to help them correct themselves, to help them understand the meaning of life, where to move, how to complete life, with what result, what that result should be, and so on. When you act this way, you naturally provide an example to others, and they strive to act similarly.

Comment: In Kabbalah, there is a rule: speak of the greatness of the friends.

My Response: But that is not a compliment. It is a necessary element of our spiritual work. The difference lies in why I say it. I say it to give someone direction in their development, a goal, and strength.

A compliment, as a rule, is said to flatter someone, to give them a sense of self-importance. But in our study, in Kabbalah, importance is not in us but in our work and the goal—in the Creator, whom we are trying to reveal. So I would not consider these as compliments.

Question: How should one properly speak of the greatness of one’s friends? Can this serve as an example for others?

Answer: As a rule, we do not speak of the greatness of a friend directly to the friend. We speak of their greatness among ourselves to elevate them in our eyes so they may serve as an example for us. Because if we talk about the greatness of a friend directly to them, we essentially lower them by inflating their ego.

Question: Does that turn it into a compliment?

Answer: Yes, and such a compliment will have a negative effect on them. Therefore, I do not see it as beneficial. With a child, we can say: “What a clever boy you are, how smart! Look how well you have done everything, how beautifully!” And they puff up with pride.

But for an adult (I mean people within my circle), such compliments are unnecessary.

Question: What is your advice for people? How should relationships be built so that every moment they feel needed and important to each other?

Answer: By engaging in meaningful work. By moving forward together in a journey toward unity to reveal the upper force, the higher purpose of existence, and the higher nature. This is not a compliment—it is our entire life.

How to Climb Higher than Everest

761.2Question: Many people want to conquer Everest, one of the highest peaks on Earth. The height of Mount Everest reaches 8,848 meters above sea level. Climbers and scientists have given this high area of the mountain the name “death zone.”

Why does a person strive to conquer these unreachable peaks?

Answer: It is a sport, a game, to prove to yourself that you can do it, like others. There is a desire in man to establish himself above nature.

Question: A person strives to conquer a mountain, reach higher, be better, and prove to himself and others that he can overcome the limit of human strength. What should he do higher, better, overcoming, and not yielding in his inner spiritual ascent?

Answer: In general, a person wants to conquer peaks, to be above nature, to rise above himself, and to realize himself at the most critical point. This is a human trait.

Of course, an animal will not go there. It understands perfectly what is better or worse and always strives for maximum comfort.

For man, on the contrary, the zone of maximum comfort means nothing if there is still an opportunity to assert himself as a person. Because inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels of nature exist in him, but even higher than that is a level of human in him.

Question: What is the human level that haunts him and pushes him into all these dangers?

Answer: He wants to be above nature. There is an additional point in him called human. But it resides inside the animal in him. Therefore, when we develop the human in us, the animal begins to suffer: “Why on earth are you thinking not of me, not of the animal, but of something above me?” Then, we enter a conflict: the human strives upward and the animal dies.

If a person truly aimed to rise above the animal level in him, he would not cross oceans, storm mountain peaks, or descend to the depths of the sea. The meaning of life is not found in these places; it lies in the conquest of one’s inner nature and environment.

Question: What does it mean to rise above the level of nature from the point of view of Kabbalah?

Answer: To rise above the level of nature is to rise above one’s egoism. Because our egoism is in us on three levels: inanimate, vegetative, and animate to rise above it means to rise above our egoism, that is, from a state of hatred of one’s neighbor to love of one’s neighbor.

Question: Why is it easier to conquer the outer peaks or outer depths?

Answer: This is even greater elevation of egoism, the desire to raise it higher! I want to be proud of it: “Look at me! My animal climbed where no animal has ever climbed, but I have!”

What is human about this? Nothing! If a car can do it, what is the point of my going there?

Question: You met with the head of a large Aikido organization. During the conversation, he said Kabbalah speaks about the amazing vertical connection between man and God.

What is this connection that helps a person anticipate what will happen in the future: the outcome of a duel, the outcome of events?

Answer: This is when a person rises above his nature. When I am clearly aware that from all sides, where my “I” exists, I try to go above it. But I do not have to climb up or dive down to do that. To do so, I just need inner tension, my desire to come out of myself.

I ask nature for help to let me do this. In this way, I transcend rather than try to do it physically.

Question: What does it mean to go above the “I”?

Answer: Beyond egoism, from hating others to loving others.

Question: Many welcome this. Why do they not want to implement it?

Answer: It is very, very difficult. It takes not just a method but all the external conditions to implement it correctly. It is not easy.

Just like Mount Everest, many people want to climb, but very few succeed, and they even die within a few meters left to go.

But I feel we are moving toward a state of humanity and nature where we can literally overcome this barrier, the potential transition between egoism and love.

Question: What will bring the needed luck?

Answer: What will help us overcome this spiritual ascent? Revealing the greatness of the goal. It will be revealed to us as grand and special, and then we can rise to it.

I Don’t Need Someone Else’s Pain

961.2Question: Let’s talk a little about what happened this year. There have been many events, we need to read and explore all of this. I checked what people searched for the most on the Internet: the Olympic Games in Paris, elections in different countries, and the most was Donald Trump’s victory. This greatly interested the world. I’ll share other things that were highly viewed.

There were millions, almost billions, of views for the pygmy hippo Mu Deng born in Thailand. She bathes, she smiles, and people just keep watching, watching, watching.

There was the confrontation between two rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake. They lived peacefully creating their rap music until suddenly they started fighting, hating each other, insulting one another, pouring it all into their songs. And people are following this fight.

The successes of SpaceX—the space company; it seems people still dream of leaving the Earth.

Dubai chocolate is of great interest. There is a milk chocolate with pistachio filling, which got billions of views.

And then there’s natural disasters and much more.

Meanwhile, wars continued here and in Europe.

People are barely interested in scientific discoveries, Nobel laureates, or history.

I would like to ask you: how would you sum up 2024?

Answer: I do not know. It is time to shut it all down.

Question: You mean all of this?

Answer: All of it, really.

Comment: So you have little optimism about…

My Response: It is not that I have no optimism; I just have nothing to base it on. Everything is going downhill.

Question: Why do entertainers, like these rapper conflicts, interest people much more than anything else?

Answer: What else can they do? Where else can they throw themselves?

Question: So there is less empathy for wars, tragedies, suffering?

Answer: Of course.

Question: People are escaping, right?

Answer: Yes.

Comment: So a person does not go where…

Answer: They already have enough pain of their own. Personal troubles overshadow global ones.

Question: Is it possible that through interests in sports and entertainment people might eventually come to understand deeper things? That they will watch all this and gradually begin to ask: “Why am I watching this?”

Answer: They will. All this will lead them to the question of the meaning of life, of everything.

Question: So there is a positive seed in this, right?

Answer: I do not see people being able to evaluate their lives, their mission, and their purpose from a perspective where they would demand the Creator to reveal the full picture of creation to them. Humanity has lost itself.

This, I would say, is my diagnosis. At this point, millions will jump up and shout: “How can this be? What about this, what about that?” Live and you will see that even including this and that, and everything else, in the end, will all turn into one impassable swamp.

Question: Then tell me, if you could somehow guide humanity toward a single topic, and people would listen to you, what topic would you direct them to?

Answer: That is obvious—the meaning of life. I rely on the Creator; I completely believe in Him.

Question: Are you speaking about humanity or yourself right now?

Answer: About humanity.

I completely believe in Him. I completely align myself with Him. And in my understanding, that is how it looks. Give unto the Creator what is the Creator’s and to man what is his after the Creator takes His due.

Comment: I simply rely on Him, that is all.

My Response: Yes.

Question: But that is the right choice, to rely on the Creator?

Answer: I do not see any other option.

Smiling Depression

627.2Comment: A new type of depression called “smiling depression” has been identified. It involves presenting a happy appearance and hiding depressive symptoms. This is becoming more and more widespread.

People are busy in life, they have a profession, children, family, hobbies, and at the same time they are in constant depression. Outwardly they smile and present a happy appearance, but inside they are in real turmoil.

My Response: It seems to me that it affects huge parts of humanity today—the masses.

We live in a world in which our egoism is constantly developing. And what suited and satisfied us 1,000 years ago, ceased to satisfy us 500 years ago. And today it does not satisfy us at all.

At the beginning of the 20th century when a person had something to eat, something to wear, and a place to sleep, the average person was happy, but today this is not an indicator that person would be in a comfortable state. This happens because our egoism grows and demands much greater fulfillment from a person, even the one that a person himself does not know about.

I just feel bad and I am empty! Did I eat? I think I ate. Did I sleep? I slept. Do I have a place to sleep? Yes. Do I have something to eat? Yes. Something to wear? I have that too. I have a job and everything else. What do I lack? I myself do not know.

Question: And what does a person lack?

Answer: The feeling of fulfillment, the feeling of happiness. That is what is missing. I may have everything, but I feel empty.

“What do you lack? Tell me what it is. I will write it down, and I promise to provide you with this.”

“You cannot provide me with this. I have to fill myself with something. There is emptiness inside me that I cannot fill in any way—not by drinking, eating, or anything. You can tickle me, and I will not laugh. I do not have this fulfillment!”

Question: How can a person find it?

Answer: There is no way. There is a feeling of lack inside him, a feeling of inner emptiness that cannot be filled with anything in our world.

You can take him, like a child, on a carousel, on walks, on trips, spin some movies in front of him, whatever, he will remain the same. He will watch some of it, it will distract him a little, but he will still feel that this is just an escape from emptiness. That is, there is emptiness, and he rises above it a little, but does not leave it.

Question: The famous Austrian psychiatrist and neurologist Viktor Frankl wrote that the cornerstone of good mental health is a purpose in life. Is finding the meaning of life necessary?

Answer: In our time, yes. In the past, the meaning of life was just to survive.

I lived in Lithuania at one time. People who lived there before the Soviet regime told me how everything had been arranged.

In the morning you went somewhere to work. Work, as a rule, was not permanent, because it is a small country. If you were lucky, you got work, you got paid for the day, you came home, you had something to eat—for yourself, for your family, and so on. And so it was for ordinary people who were not rich. This is how people lived. That is, if a person earned some money that day and he had something to feed himself and his family, he was happy.

50 years have passed. Can such a way of life be considered successful for a modern person today—that in the morning he does not know where he will earn money, and in the evening he does not know how he will feed himself and his family? No, a person needs a lot of things.

His egoism has become much wider and much deeper. He needs to know how much he is earning, when he receives his salary, what he will buy with it, where he will go on vacation to have fun, where his children will study, what his pension will be, and in general, really everything!

Question: So now he must take care of this by himself?

Answer: His needs have grown so much, and he cannot do anything about it; it is his inner egoism that has developed so much, not that he is spoiled that he cannot be happy today from receiving some minimal portion of the necessary fulfillment.

He does not even know what kind of fulfillment, even if he has everything. After all, this depression affects practically all ranks of society.

Question: Where is the way out of this labyrinth of life?

Answer: I do not know. But I remember that I was like that in my generation, and it was hard for me. Throughout my childhood and youth, I was in such a semi-depressive state until I found my serious occupation—Kabbalah.

I did not know how to fill myself and why I existed. All that was somehow far-fetched, that I had to bear this burden of life by all means. Why?! What for?! This is the most terrible thing! That is, when you get up in the morning and ask yourself: “Why did I get up? Why did I wake up?”

And these states are constant in people who are spiritually elevated or must be spiritually elevated, even in a Kabbalist, because new demands appear in them, which they realize and rise up the spiritual steps in the attainment of the upper one.

But when this emptiness that requires filling is revealed in you, and you do not yet know what kind of filling, then you are in a state that, in general, is defined as depression, although it is not depression.

For Kabbalists, this is not depression; they love these states because they know in advance that they will fill them, that in this emptiness they will attain the feeling of the upper world.

We are in a new generation, when modern people manifest this emptiness, these demands, and these huge desires. But in our world we cannot find any filling for them. They must receive this filling from the next level.

Question: We are not talking about clinical depression, which is a mental illness. What is the recipe for happiness or a way out of this smiling depression, or just low spirits?

Answer: One fire drives out another. There is no other way. We must necessarily find a filling for this internal demand of emptiness. And it is in the meaning of life.

People, in principle, ask this. But even if they do not ask, this question exists in them. This is a question that gnaws at them, and they are afraid to ask it. A person is afraid to admit to himself that he does not know what he lives for, and this is precisely what does not give him the energy to live.

Question: Why is he afraid?

Answer: Because there is no answer. And to find yourself in front of emptiness.

Comment: It is scary.

My Response: It is not that it is scary; it practically destroys me as a rational being who exists rationally and knows why he exists. If I tell myself that I do not know why I exist, then I am, in principle, nothing. And that makes me feel even worse. Because of this I will just lie down and not get up.

Question: So what is the meaning of life for a person?

Answer: The meaning of life is to reveal our spiritual root in which we exist eternally and plunge into our earthly world temporarily in order to rise even higher with its help. That is, you need to see this entire system and participate in it.

Then a person begins to work on himself spiritually. He reveals the upper world, the control system, the system of the universe, and sees what he must do in order to feel himself realizing a huge plan every minute!

Question: What does a person gain by revealing this world?

Answer: He reveals, and he sees with all his senses, with all his fiber, absorbs the entire universe, feels himself directly a part of it, and interacts with it. He affects the world, and the world affects him.

And then his great game begins, like a child with his toys. It captivates him. Of course, it is not easy and not right away but, in principle, if he already begins to understand that this is destined for him, this is already a great development.

The most important thing is to feel yourself in front of the door, to come close to it, and then it will open.

Where Is the Express Train of our Life Headed?

214Comment: Scientists say that digitalization is accelerating, but the problem is that we do not know exactly where this express train is headed. We understand many processes will go faster and this will change our lives. We know nothing except the speed at which we are moving.

My Response: We have always developed this way. Has humanity ever ordered a program for its development? The Bolsheviks wanted to build communism. What came of it? Socialists with socialism, and Capitalists with capitalism. What came of it?

Humanity has never made any plans of its own and then implemented them when they voted and went to implement them and then had everything work out. It has never happened in my life or throughout history. And now we are doing the same thing. Only time is accelerating, nothing else.

Comment: If a person had the whole arsenal of tools and knew the way, would there always be some kind of error at the end?

My Response: What error? On the contrary, everything works out! The error is exactly the opposite.

Question: Why doesn’t this lead to even more destruction?

Answer: There are protective forces of nature that trip us, the foolish, and redirect the express train of history just in time. They put us on a different track so we do not plunge into the abyss altogether.

Question: So are we initially going down the wrong path?

Answer: We are still following the path nature leads us on. The fact that we agree with it or not speaks only about the comfort of this journey. You are riding in a cushioned carriage or riding on buffers between cars or riding on the roof.

Comment: At some point will fate turn you in a certain direction?

My Response: It will not turn you anywhere. It leads you where you need to go.

Comment: Researchers say many fear losing their jobs in this chaotic world when, with the development of technology, their professions will no longer be in demand.

My Response: This will happen anyway.

Comment: This fear generates dangerous trends in society, and they cannot be suppressed by force. Some experts say that people should not just be retrained and given another profession to replace the outdated one; they should be integrated into a system of continuous education throughout their lives.

My Response: That is right. This is what the science of Kabbalah has been saying for many years. We need to educate people and create huge enterprises to re-educate the masses. There will be classes in applied arts, music, dance, all kinds of games, psychology, everything.

Most importantly, they will all follow one principle: connection among people, a positive connection. That is all and nothing more is needed.

Comment: Scientists say that everyone’s inner willingness to change depends on whether we can offer people some kind of perspective.

My Response: This is the perspective. When we are connected among ourselves, in this connection, we will begin to feel new phenomena of our life, new stages of our life, a whole new life, a life that will lift us above time, above our physiological states. We will enter a completely different arena.

Comment: They also say that we need to show some perspective, but we do not know what it is.

My Response: Eternity, perfection, goodness, great achievements, attainments, and entry to a new space—all this must be given to people. They need to be shown this: what man was created for, what he should achieve, what he should begin to feel, why this is before him, and how he can achieve it—precisely through the correct connection between people.

In the connection of people, in “Love your neighbor as yourself,” when you begin to exist in good, correct contact with others, within this contact, you find the entrance to the next world.

Comment: So the world is simply collapsing from all sides.

My Response: Nothing is collapsing! On the contrary, we are entering the next degree. We are not destroying anything.

Question: Alexander Asmolov, Director of Humanitarian Policy at a major Russian university, says: “Our problem is that we teach people to adapt. Not to change with the world, but only to adapt to the current conditions. This hinders our readiness to face challenges that have not yet occurred.”

How can we help a person to change rather than adapt?

Answer: We have nothing to adapt to. Our world is becoming such that by constantly adapting to it, we are coming to a dead end. Then we fall with the world. But we need to separate, we need to start rising. It depends only on our good connection with each other. That is all.

Therefore, the correct result of our engagement with society, with this generation, should be that they will be able to unite among themselves and begin to feel the next level of the universe in this connection.

Comment: Scientists also say that our psyche is capable of working in constantly changing conditions, that each person has unique opportunities for reflection, critical understanding of the world, and changing stereotypes. They say the most important is that we have a tolerance for uncertainty. So It seems that people are internally ready for this new state. What will trigger it?

My Response: The way out is to reveal the science of Kabbalah to the world. Nothing else, because there is no other method that is even close to it. That is first. Second, people must reach a point where they are willing to listen.

Comment: What can we wish for a person who has his entire inner structure ready, has potential, and only needs to take a step forward?

Answer: He should clearly pursue the question: “What is the meaning of my life?”

The meaning of life is in understanding its purpose. And the goal is not within life itself. The meaning of life is above this body. This is what we need to attain.
