Research In The Science Of Kabbalah

Dr. Michael LaitmanEvery science consists of three parts: basic research, practical research, and the popularization of the science including education.

If everything is more or less understood regarding the popularization of science, it is not the case regarding new basic research and applied science.

Question: Are there new basic studies conducted in the wisdom of Kabbalah, or does it all come down to studying ancient sources? Is the research spontaneous or is it coordinated by Bnei Baruch?

Answer: Studies on the wisdom of Kabbalah are conducted in Kabbalistic groups who make laboratories of themselves and examine how the changes in the group are affected by the upper Light, the surrounding Light (Ohr Makif)

Question: If it is an applied science, a practical science, what is the essence and the direction of the study? Or is the role of the wisdom of Kabbalah reduced to merely supporting other sciences in the practical sense, sciences like quantum physics, for example, or individual scientists?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah does not support material sciences in any way, although they can use its findings. The role of the wisdom of Kabbalah is not so much about research but the practical use of the upper force, the surrounding Light (Ohr Makif), in order to change man’s nature.

Question: Is there a plan to popularize the wisdom of Kabbalah? I mean is there a system developed system to spread the wisdom of Kabbalah around the world in cooperation with different religions, science, educational institutions, the mass media, etc.?

Answer: There are studies of the wisdom of Kabbalah. But since it is necessary to change the nature of the scientist for the Kabbalist to study it, there is a need for a group in which such research can be conducted.

This cannot be done in the framework of university communities because none of those students studying Kabbalah academically want to switch from its theoretical study to its practical study in a group as the Kabbalistic sources describe. They eventually keep talking about the subject, about the field, without actually attaining the subject, the field, itself.

Everything you are asking exists in the wisdom of Kabbalah in a unique form because the Kabbalistic knowledge of attaining the concealed layers of nature is revealed to a person to the degree that he changes himself, corrects his egoistic nature, which is never required of any other scientist.

Change Fate

Laitman_712.03Question: You say that by studying Kabbalah it is possible to change one’s destiny. But is it necessary?

Answer: Yes, it is necessary. Now we are at the level of our compulsory existence. It is not even an animalistic existence, but much lower because an animal does not ask questions about the meaning of life.

Once we start asking such questions, we have an opportunity to rise with their help to the level of absolute freedom, freedom from death, from material life, and from the tight framework of our present existence. This is freedom from being under some special supervision, restrictions, distributions and so on. That is, you become the highest.

In this way, each of us, by reaching an ability to bestow, becomes the highest. One can say, “This is an illusion. How can everyone be the highest?” But it is, in fact, so because we will find ourselves in another, spiritual space.

Question: Do we change our destiny by this?

Answer: Of course. Our destiny is in our hands. We can change not only our corporeal life, but a destiny we know nothing about yet, those stages that we still have to go through.

The Book Of Zohar, The Main Book Of The Wisdom Of Kabbalah

Laitman_065A person exists in the world in a certain volume where he is born, develops, and lives. During his lifetime, many questions may emerge in him, such as: What am I living for? What is the meaning of life? Is there a Creator? Could it be that the Creator is nature? Does life just go by and end?

We know that nothing happens in nature without a cause and that everything develops within a process of cause and effect, but we still do not understand what ultimately happens to us, what the reason of our existence is, and what the outcomes of our lives will be. When a person has such questions as these, he arrives at the study of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

The main book of the wisdom of Kabbalah is The Book of Zohar that describes all of the transformations a person undergoes and provides complete answers to all of the above questions. But The Book of Zohar should not be used as an ordinary guide in which a certain chapter engages in the meaning of life and another in the goal of creation. The Book of Zohar is not an encyclopedia. It was written according to a totally different principle. It is not an ordinary, scientific book although what it contains is absolutely scientific. It is based on a science that operates in a different way.

The science we know in our world fills and charges our brains and minds with various data that we can analyze and come to different conclusions about. But The Book of Zohar is studied in a different way. Studying The Book of Zohar has nothing to do with the intellectual level a person is on or may be on. It has nothing to do with filling the mind with different concepts and with questions as to whether a person can act according to these concepts. The Book of Zohar expands the framework of a person’s perception so that he can see much higher, wider, and deeper than in our world. A person receives knowledge of the upper force.

This information is initially perceived as a higher sensation from which a person begins to extract knowledge. It is like when children, on the level of our world, compare different experiences between them: I tried it, I did this, I got this; they accumulate information regarding cause and effect that helps them understand and attain our world. The same thing happens in the process of attaining and understanding the upper world. It is only through our practical work that we comprehend the management of our world and how our world affects the upper world, etc.

The Book of Zohar puts us in a special state. To the degree that the study is done properly, when I read it, and most importantly, how I read it correctly, a person prompts and summons a special Light upon himself, a force that expands the borders of his understanding, attainment, and feeling.

When a person feels, perceives, and attains these borders and compares all of the different data, new dimensions, levels, understandings, evaluations, and values of this totally different world inside himself, then a new science emerges inside him called the wisdom of Kabbalah. It is the science of the control system of our world because our world is based on a person’s sensations of oneself and the world around him.

When a person tries more and more to spur and summon the Light in order to reveal the upper world within himself, he feels it inside himself, attains it, and the connection between the two worlds becomes clear to him, that is, the connection between the world we are living in now and the world that is personally revealed to him. At the same time, he reaches a state whereby the two worlds exist in him with mutual cooperation and he operates between them.

At the same time, by using The Book of Zohar, a person begins to discover a tool for understanding new definitions, names, and feelings. Now he attains the world in two dimensions, beyond the frameworks of time, motion, and space. Most importantly, a person restores the connection with the upper force of management, mutually influence each other, and eventually become partners. The Book of Zohar enables us to achieve all of this.

This is the reason that a person begins to understand that the main thing is to spur and summon the upper force unto himself so that it will teach him more, fill him more, expand his horizons, and create totally different definitions and understandings within him. A person who exists in both our world and the upper world at the same time has to understand the connection between the two.

The Book of Zohar teaches a person how to manage his feelings and what the connection between the feelings associated with the upper world and the feelings associated with our world is.

How Can We Verify The Influence Of The Book Of Zohar?

Laitman_137Question: How can we verify that reading The Book of Zohar restores my spiritual connection with the force of the upper governance?

Answer: You can feel it based on the changes in your qualities and attitudes toward others. During all this, you go through a multitude of confused states. You experience a change in various conceptual notions, attitude toward scrutiny, toward revelation, toward understanding, analysis, and synthesis.

I remember going through it myself and I see it in my students: how people become unfocused, they do not have clear perception, understanding, internalization, and hearing. These states signify changes that occur in a person. Kabbalists are aware of these changes and welcome them.

However, a person gradually starts to control such states, he rejoices in them because they signify changes in his level of awareness.

Resistance To The Wisdom Of Kabbalah, Part 5

laitman_254.03Question: Resistance to Kabbalah began back in the time of the Baal Shem Tov, and was provoked by the appearance of many related misconceptions: the Sabbatean movement, when Sabbatai Zevi declared himself a Messiah, Frankism, etc.

They used the Ari’s method and made a surrogate out of it, which attracted a lot of people to them. This caused fears against the Ari’s method and Kabbalah in general until today. How can these historical stereotypes be dispelled?

Answer: If you are looking for an excuse for accusing a movement you do not like, you can always find one. It is the same as when anti-Semites accuse Jews of all possible and impossible sins. It is the same aspiration to oppose the power of bestowal.

Is the Ari’s method to blame for the fact that Sabbatai Zevi took several proposals from it? There are many fictional theories supposedly based on Kabbalah: medical practices, cameos, magic symbols, notes, blessings. All of them use some terms from Kabbalah to show that they allegedly have power.

But we understand that there is no power in them, and eventually this emptiness will unfold, if not in this generation, then in the next one. All false stories die, except true Kabbalah. Kabbalists continue practicing the same method at all times, adjusting it to their generation and passing it on.

Baal HaSulam revealed the Ari’s method to the point that it had never been revealed before, and thus, wrote the Talmud Eser Sefirot, which is a commentary on Ari’s “Tree of Life” and also  The Sulam Commentary on The Book of Zohar. It is impossible to elaborate more on this method. And Rabash revealed work in a group for us, which had not been done before. Even the leader of Hasidism the Baal Shem Tov did not leave behind a single book about his methods.

By studying the wisdom of Kabbalah, we follow the methods of Baal HaSulam, and we use Rabash’s method to implement it in work in the group. If someone does not agree with this, then he will always find an excuse for accusations. But there are no other Kabbalistic books that describe a clear Kabbalistic method.

Ultimately, all resistance to Kabbalah is in favor of Kabbalists and only does harm to the accusers themselves. Criticism, published by ill-wishers, turns into another form of spreading Kabbalah. Gradually it becomes clear that opponents of Kabbalah have no idea about it and are not in spiritual attainment, and therefore, all their accusations are far-fetched.

Their attitude will not change, but will become even tougher as we approach the end of correction. This is called the “war with Amalek” when we spread the law of love of one’s neighbor as oneself, which is taught by the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Kabbalah appeals only to unity. We implement it through practical work in groups of ten, as Moses once did. The method of unification, which we obtained from Kabbalists allows us to reveal an upper force between us. Man exists in this world for this very purpose.

The Difference Between Kabbalah And Religion

laitman_219.01Question from Facebook: Throughout its history, humanity has created many religions and beliefs. What is the difference between Kabbalah and other religions?

Answer: Humanity has been creating different beliefs until this day. What does a person believe in? In an upper force. The dollar, wealth, power, this is also an upper force. We do not call them religions because we do not want to name them as such. But what do we worship more? Wealth or the real upper force?

Humanity is constantly creating more and more new religions for itself: bitcoins, robots, other grandiose forces that can help a person improve his state in some way.

In principle, what is the Creator needed for? To improve my state in this world with some kind of hope for the future world. What exactly is there, no one knows. We will either take wealth with us like a pharaoh, or, conversely, we will give everything away to go there empty-handed, but with a ready soul; all these philosophies, of course, are not confirmed by anything, but they do exist.

Kabbalah differs from all religions, beliefs, and all sorts of possible quests of humanity by raising a person above our nature, above the nature of this world, above egoism, and one begins to prepare oneself beforehand for the state that we imagine existing after our death.

Let’s imagine a fantasy: our body is dying. In Kabbalah, body means egoism. It continuously wants to somehow fill itself. This is not just a physical body, a biological mass, but my ego—the desire for wealth, fame, knowledge, family, sex, food, rest, entertainment, for everything that exists. Naturally, my ego dies along with my physiological body.

We do not have such ideas as a Pharaoh, that it is necessary to take a lot of food supplies, concubines, soldiers, etc. with us to the future world. That is, egoism dies, and a person leaves in an indefinite direction with empty hands, as they say, naked and pure.

Kabbalah enables a person living in this world to experience a state when he is separated from his egoistic “I,” his body, as if he is dying, to make his ego die.

And then he feels himself free, literally soaring in weightlessness. He reveals the following state, above the egoistic state, called life not in desire, but life in faith; life not in receiving, but “life in bestowal.”

Then a completely different perception of reality arises: reality is not in how much I can swallow up now, devouring and absorbing into myself, but in getting out of myself and, conversely, as broadly as possible, continuing to feel all this, see, and whenever possible bestow. That is, this is a different perception, a different movement, a completely different paradigm.

It gives a person an unlimited perception of reality. Which one? The one that exists. What does it look like? We do not know, but the one not infringed upon by our egoism, not minced in it like in a meat grinder, when we grind inside ourselves all the data we receive without even being aware it.

That is, what I feel right now, I feel that after everything that surrounds me has entered into my ego, it has been minced there and given out to me as a kind of “stuffing”: this world and myself.

It is the derivative of my ego. And I want to get it without transferring it through my ego, to see the world as it is. But this is not given to anyone. For this, I need to nullify my ego. This is what Kabbalah gives me.

As a result, after we become convinced nowadays that egoism is our enemy, a villain who distorts and disfigures the whole picture of the world, and we live inside the ego as if we have swallowed drugs and exist in this ghostly, completely unreal world, which is why it is called a fictitious world; the wisdom of Kabbalah gives us an opportunity to rise above this. That is, it gives the opportunity to kill your own ego, rise above it, and see through your undistorted sensation what exists in reality.

And then we discover that beyond our egoism there is only an upper force, the one single force called the Creator. We begin to attain it and everything becomes clear. It is clear what to live for, why He created everything in this way, and why we should come to the revelation of the Creator through so many problems, through so many millennia of our disgusting egoistic development. We begin to understand all this, to appreciate and not to condemn it, but, on the contrary, to justify it.

All this is attained through the wisdom of Kabbalah. Therefore, it has nothing to do with any religion, including Judaism. Naturally, nowadays even believers and even more so other people understand that today’s ordinary religion is far from true.

It is Kabbalah that is called the Torah of the Truth (Torat Emet), and not the usual approach. It is the true instruction for the birth of a spiritual person, for the revelation of the Creator, for understanding of what is really said in the Torah.

Therefore, people are disappointed in religion. This disappointment appeared a long time ago. There is no other way to reveal the truth. And now this truth is revealed through the wisdom of Kabbalah, through its genuine sources.

Question: Why is the wisdom of Kabbalah revealed only now?

Answer: Humanity has been developing for thousands of years. It was predicted by the wisdom of Kabbalah a long time ago that the end of the 20th century would be the time of transition to a new stage, to a new level of attaining of the Creator.

In principle, everything that we strive for in reality, no matter what it is, money, power, knowledge, all sorts of pleasures, means that we are digging inside ourselves to find something really worthwhile. And what is worthwhile is called the Creator.

Whatever people do, be it religion, all sorts of cults, science, etc., they discover the bankruptcy of their efforts and quests. In the end, this leads them to Kabbalah. Therefore, nowadays people from all levels of humanity, with different knowledge and aspirations begin to somehow change their vector, even though they do not realize this.

Therefore, our organization has set this goal: to reveal the wisdom of Kabbalah, that is, the knowledge about the causes of human existence, about the realization of the real goal of humanity in this world. It made its goal to uncover this method, to reveal the Creator to man in our world.

The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Covers Everything

laitman_628.2Question: Can studying Kabbalah cause the desire to study sciences such as physics, psychology, and philosophy?

Answer: No. Kabbalah covers everything. After all, you enter into a new part of the universe, the management system, and therefore you are not interested in what is happening at the lowest level of our world.

Comment: Once it was believed that a person must study seven sciences before he began to study Kabbalah.

Answer: That was a long time ago; Kabbalists existed even in the time of the forefathers.

Question: Does it mean that today secondary school and higher education is enough?

Answer: Even this is not required. Current egoism is so developed that it does not need to be developed further. You can immediately begin participating in the connection in the circle and reveal the Creator existing between us.

Question: Is it possible that a person will not develop a desire, for example, for art?

Answer: He has no side-wishes! A person demonstrates aspiration only to one point. He will not aspire to anything except the highest level of his existence. Why should he focus on the little things? This is like an adult who goes to a sandbox to play with children!

We are talking about desire, about the fact that a person begins to work with it. This is necessary for him in order to correct the world, not for something else. After all, looking at our world with all its attributes, such as culture, science, philosophy, psychology, and anything else he sees, all of it is already in the state of terrible crisis. We reveal it more and more every day. So why should he enter into this?!

Kabbalah, on the contrary, raises us to the next degree where all of humanity will have to ascend. Just today, people do not yet have the predisposition to it. However, their interest in culture, the arts, and everything else is already disappearing.

Why Don’t People Try To Reveal The Creator?

laitman_622.02Question: Kabbalah says that a person can reveal the Creator in this world. Religions claim that one must believe in the Creator, and then you will find Him in the next world. Nevertheless, no one rushes to reveal the Creator, no one is even interested in that it can be done now, in our world. Why is it this way?

Answer: Our present egoistic qualities push us from the upper world, from the attainment of the Creator. We don’t want it, we want to remain in what is convenient and good for us.

People do not aspire to the science of Kabbalah because they are created in properties opposite to the upper world. That’s that.

Man is not attracted by it, he does not have a direct desire for this, and he does not feel the need inside himself. When I am offered a delicious cake, walk, dance, to watch a good movie or a football match, it is all clear. We have these informational records.

Question: It is not a natural desire to understand the upper force?

Answer: No. Why do I need it? It is better to stay away from it.

Question: On the other hand, isn’t there immense motivation? Any person over twenty years old knows that his life will certainly end. It’s scary. But something covers this fear and doesn’t allow him to reveal the Creator, and eternal life?

Answer: The fact is that despite fears, interests, and everything else, people still do not run to study Kabbalah because egoism stands in their way. It doesn’t fit into our pyramid of desires, which include food, sex, family, wealth, fame, power, and knowledge.

Question: Why didn’t the Creator install such a program in us so that at some stage of our development we would want to attain Him?

Answer: Even when you start moving toward His attainment, you see it as a question about the meaning of life: Why do I live? What do I exist for? What is my life? What do I need the Creator for? Me, I am! This is how it reveals in us.

Resistance To The Wisdom Of Kabbalah, Part 4

laitman_249-01Question: How can you object to the opponents of Kabbalah who claim that teaching Kabbalah to the masses is unacceptable because there is a danger of materializing its concepts or, conversely, being in the clouds and fantasizing?

Answer: There is indeed such a danger if we study Kabbalah in the wrong way. But our method is very close to people. In fact, we teach unity and love for our neighbor as for ourselves. Who can object to such a method?

The wisdom of Kabbalah is the true Torah, for it only talks about truth, that is, loving one’s neighbor, which is what the Torah must teach everyone. There is no greater commandment than loving one’s neighbor, for it leads to love for the Creator. This is what we teach, and there is no mysticism in it. And even the spiritual is quite “material” because we are studying how a person should behave here and now in this world.

Question: Is there any claim that the Kabbalah contains a powerful force, like atomic energy, and if we teach it to people who are not ready yet, then they can use these forces to harm themselves and others?

Answer: The Kabbalist does not control the world at will, as the opponents of Kabbalah claim. He does not control anything, but only teaches people how to come to a good union and even love. The goal of Kabbalah is to teach a person love, because we correct the world by a good connection between all.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is a very practical method. Especially people of Israel need it because of anti-Semitism, hatred, and pressure. But all of humanity needs it too. The study of Kabbalah cannot be harmful. Only those who do not know the laws of nature can claim the opposite. That is like scaring a child with a monster so that he will not go out into the street. There is no point in these claims.

People who do not understand this wisdom, disseminate their methods, teach it incorrectly, and cause all the problems related to Kabbalah. There are many kiosks in Tel Aviv where they sell books that they claim are about Kabbalah.

Religions Around The Wisdom of Kabbalah

Laitman_115Question: In Wikipedia it is written that “Kabbalah (Hebrew: קַבָּלָה‎, literally ‘parallel/corresponding,’ or ‘received tradition’) is an esoteric method, discipline, and school of thought that originated in Judaism.” What can you say about that?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah is a science that is learned by people who feel the upper world and have attained it with the help of particular internal actions within them and not through mystical actions. They learn and investigate laws of the higher structure, all the upper forces that exist around us now that we don’t feel, but the Kabbalists have revealed them.

These forces are called higher because they are found in the realm of bestowal, these are forces of the characteristic of bestowal, not of characteristics of reception, and therefore, we explain and define them like that.

There is nothing religious, mystical, or esoteric about the wisdom of Kabbalah. It is pure science. That is also what was written by the ancient philosophers who learned this wisdom from Kabbalists in ancient Israel. Also, scientists from the Middle Ages to our day actually wrote this about it.

It has no relevance to Judaism. Judaism was founded much later; it emerged from the wisdom of Kabbalah and became the basis for actions customary in our world.

People who wanted and decided to aim toward relationships with the Creator in our world basically took external descriptions from the wisdom of Kabbalah, and created their religion from them. That is how spiritual teachings, which were transmitted through the ego, became the basis for Judaism and other religions.

Comment: In Wikipedia it is written that the wisdom of Kabbalah appeared in the 12th to 13th century.

Answer: This is also incorrect. The wisdom of Kabbalah appeared almost 5,777 years ago. We indicate this date as the Jewish New Year.

The appearance of Adam and the revelation of the laws of nature that he discovered symbolizes the birth of the wisdom of Kabbalah. We began our count from then.

The spread and dissemination of the wisdom of Kabbalah began in the 12th century and continued in the 14th century in its recorded form for everyone.

Therefore, the only correct point in Wikipedia is that the main discovery of the wisdom of Kabbalah began in the 14th century. Everything else was invented. The wisdom of Kabbalah is not philosophy, mysticism, religion, or Judaism. There is complete confusion about this, which includes the religious Jews, who consider the wisdom of Kabbalah is part of their religion.
