A wise man came and gave him a cure that helped him. Later, when he came to the doctors to do tests for his illness, they determined that he was completely well and there was nothing wrong with him. Clearly, at that time he is delighted and cannot say that he has nothing from which to derive vitality. Instead, his joy is immense (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 137, “The Lack Is the Kli [Vessel]”).

What are true spiritual pleasures? These are the pleasures of being connected and being able to mutually help one another; it is rising from our personal problems to common problems necessary for collective healing. In this case, we call upon the Creator for help, and He gladly assists us.

Our problem lies in uncovering the actual cause of our suffering and asking the Creator to free us from it.

Question: What deficiency gives birth to true spiritual pleasure?

Answer: The desire to be spiritually healthy.

Question: What is the kind of faith during suffering that can work for bestowal only with the help of the Creator?

Answer: It is a special quality—a person’s faith that; first of all, one is striving not for healing but to understand the root of healing, its cause. Then, a person finds the method of recovery.

Such faith always arises from realizing one’s helplessness so that a person finds the Creator as the cause of everything happening to them.

The intensity of the request to the Creator depends on understanding the reason for our condition, which is that everything comes from Him. Therefore, we must ask the Creator to come closer to Him to reveal the true essence of all existence. In this way, we can move forward toward healing.

Why is it said that a soul like Baal HaSulam descends into our world only once in ten generations? The fact is, this soul is incredibly great, and its attainment requires tremendous effort.

Therefore, it descends into the world only once every few generations when there are many souls ready to rise from one spiritual degree to another. Through their collective effort, they can reach the heights described by Baal HaSulam.

Through all our efforts in studying the wisdom of Kabbalah and our actions toward unity, we wish to include ourselves in his soul, and to the extent that we achieve this inclusion, we can touch, even slightly, his greatness. Everything depends on our desire to rise above our current state and reach greater unity, through which alone we can attain spirituality.

By reaching a certain level of attaining this degree, we must try to clothe ourselves in Baal HaSulam’s spiritual garment, which is exceptionally high, hoping that the Creator will have mercy on us and allow us to understand, feel, and somehow glimpse this state.

That does not depend on us alone, but on the desire of the upper to reveal itself within us and, through us, influence all of humanity. We must not forget this, so that together we can feel this immense responsibility and strive to bring the whole world closer to the Creator.

Our group is the result of the work of the great Kabbalists who lived before us, who have extended to us the end of the thread that connects us to the Creator. We must grasp this thread and use it to ascend.

Through our closeness to one another, through connection and mutual inclusion, we will be able to feel more elevated qualities and higher states, and in doing so, we will oblige the Creator to raise us up to Him. That is already near, and we hope we will succeed in achieving it.

All secrets of nature are hidden in our unity—there is no other remedy for broken souls. Therefore, we use the method of Baal HaSulam in all stages: rising above egoism, joining into tens, and moving toward unification into one man with one heart.

Baal HaSulam expressed the whole science of Kabbalah in a new, rational, and very open form that it is difficult for the world to accept. He brought each person closer to his purpose. We only need to unite into one man with one heart and raise a prayer to Him from this unity so He will manifest in us.

On one hand it seems that time passes and all this cannot be done, but on the other hand, we see that generations are advancing to the extent that they can realize the conditions given by the spiritual environment.

In fact, this progress cannot be considered slow, as some complain. Apparently, we do not understand how huge, lavish, and simply infinite the whole universe is. At our stage, we want to perform actions immediately at the highest level. But until we achieve sufficient force of action and its required accuracy, we will remain on the path.

Only through connection with other people can we turn to the Creator correctly. The more connected I am to the friends on the path, the closer I am to the Creator. We need to enclose ourselves as much as possible within the boundaries of the ten, the Kabbalistic group, and inside it, we will find everything Baal HaSulam wanted to convey to us.

Every day we must try to raise the ten to an ever higher level. If everyone in the ten wants to do this and knows that their spiritual score depends on it, we will succeed.

I hope we will go through the holidays with full seriousness and begin to reveal what relates to our souls. Every day I see my students more and more collected, united, and in agreement with the steps the spiritual forces are taking us through. If we want to accelerate the ascent to the next degree, an attack is required from us through unification with the Creator.

Question: What does the expression “If you leave Me one day, I will leave you two” mean?

Answer: This is a condition set by the Creator. If you lose your desire for the Creator, it means that He has left you, and therefore you are moving away from Him.

That is, you leave Him, not because you do not want Him, but because He did not want you.

Then, you must conduct a serious study of why this happened, correct what He did not want you for in the past, and develop a new desire for Him. Therefore: “If you leave Me one day, I will leave you two.”

A person must repent to the extent that it is “unto the Lord your God.” That is, he should feel that “the Lord is your God” personally, and then the flaw of the tree of knowledge will be corrected. (Rabash, “What is the Meaning of Failure in the Work?“)

We undertake the obligation to rise in faith above reason so neither our faith nor our reason are harmed in any way, and we will thus correct the problem of the sin of the Tree of Knowledge.

The revelation of the Creator’s desire lies in the fact that each of us discovers some of our problems, flaws, and sins that constantly drag us down. But we want to be part of the community of Israel and therefore want to return.

That is, a person wants to feel that the Creator is omnipotent, and wants to belong only to Him and do everything so that the Creator is above him. This is called correcting the flaw of the Tree of Knowledge.

Question: Can we clearly feel the Creator’s desire in the ten to fulfill it? And if we do not feel it, do we believe that we are fulfilling His wishes?

Answer: No, it is not enough to believe in it. You need to know it.
