One Big Village

Dr. Michael LaitmanFirst of all, we need integral education where, based on many facts, on the opinions of scientists, researchers, and political scientists, we describe and clearly show people where we really are.

A person doesn’t know anything about life outside of his work, soccer, beer, and all those things seem a matter of course. He cannot even imagine that if one day, suddenly the connection between us would break, then all of this wouldn’t exist: not what we see surrounding us, not what we have at home! That is, without international trade, political, cultural, or military exchanges, no matter at what levels, nothing would exist.

First, integral education speaks about the path we went through in evolution, and were locked into. And today we are not able to open up. On the contrary, the evolution continues; every day, nations and countries, and all kinds of civilizations are tied together tighter and tighter, and the only thing that we can do is to learn to exist in an integral way.

But it becomes evident that the countries don’t know how to do this. We see this in examples of the common market, international banks, etc. So what can be said about simple women’s and children’s organizations, and even educational institutions where everyone pulls the “blanket” to himself? It turns out that in these cultural and educational organizations it isn’t possible to come to something common. Each one pulls towards itself, and each one thinks it is greater, better, and that the others should listen to it.

And mostly important is that the system is moving forward and is closing, joining, and tightening in each of the cogwheels, even the smallest one. Thus, everyone depends on the other.

If today you approach a simple farmer from China, Russia, Europe, or American who grows rice or potatoes or produces milk or meat, etc., he would tell you that one needs to do this or that because in the world certain things take place: Argentina produces meat, China something else, and so on.

I often come across this. Not long ago I was in South and North America and spoke with people who are involved in agriculture. They have a huge awareness about what is happening in the world in this field and not only in their area, but in related fields.

Today, a farmer who grows, let’s say red peppers, knows all the scientific news that is relevant to the cultivation of red peppers and is fully aware of what is happening in the world in this field. It turns out that a person is constantly closed and completely dependent on others. He knows that if somewhere something happens or if his crop would be lost because no one needs it, then in the end, he himself will become poor.

This means that the general feeling of dependence reaches even the smallest farmsteads, and in the coming years it will reach even the ordinary people.

Studying Nature: The Way To Solve Our Problems

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What exactly do you mean when you say that nature’s plan has changed? How can we explain to ordinary people what exactly has changed?

Answer: We must simply show a person some movies about the interconnection of the people in the world, so that he will have a clear picture of human connections on all levels—not on the scientific cultural levels, which are remote to ordinary people, but on the technological, industrial, and commercial levels—different forms of mutual guarantee.

First, we should show a person the need for connection on the level of basic necessities: He will not be able to take care of himself or his children if he is not well connected integrally with the world. If I depend on others, I have to be in good relations with others, if they feel good, I will feel good too. This means that we have to understand that there is no other way to exist.

So what’s the problem? Why can’t we exist the way we should? Why can’t we lower the exorbitant prices of goods, of transport, of connection? Why can’t we stop the allocation of half our budget to security if we are so closely connected? Why is health care so expensive that we have to sell extra pills? Why have we developed so many redundant and harmful things? Perhaps we have to shake off all this and reach a normal common denominator?!

We have to study nature, to focus all our efforts on that, and accordingly accept the laws of behavior of human society. We must spread the method of the integral society worldwide and thus gradually change our environment, so that it will influence every individual in society.

Our society has to be general, integral, and not divided by borders and nationalities, which actually don’t exist any more. It’s all only symbolic in the era of modern technology, with modern transportation etc. After all, whom do these borders protect, and who needs them? Who wants to conquer whom?! Today millions of immigrants move from place to place!

We have to arrange all this gradually and sensibly. Then in several decades, we will be able to build a totally egalitarian society. We have all the options, especially if we are free of all the unnecessary expenses.

We have to present this to people and gradually let them understand the importance and the need for our connection through TV series, theater plays, songs, teaching materials in schools, courses during work hours in different companies, etc. We have to take the social and the public relations work very seriously. This must simply be the obligation of every member in the group.

This obligation will of course be completed by the importance of the goal and publicity. All the important people and celebrities will have to show how involved and supportive they are by feeling that importance of facing nature’s call. It isn’t some political party or an individual who wants to climb to the top. No one intends to rule or to achieve anything, it’s simply us, the people on this planet who are facing this need.

The Task For The Next Six Months

Dr. Michael LaitmanOur main task over the next six months is to organize integral education and upbringing throughout the world, or at least, to begin the process of organization. At the beginning, it is essential for the developed countries of Europe and North America, not the developing countries of South America or China and all the Asian countries, namely for the developed countries that are already exposed to the global crisis. I think that in the near future, the crisis will be strongly manifested in Europe, and then will hit America like a boomerang.

As Europe is in crisis and everything there is in a deplorable state, then the dollar, as the funds are invested in the US economy, there is transferred some share of finance and the economy in general. That is why, the crisis is not demonstrated in the USA clearly; it is felt only by the fact that people live in debt, and positive interest might be seen. And when Europe ends this fall, this bubble will burst in the USA, and then it will be really bad.

By this time, we need not only to prepare people and the basic system of integral education and upbringing, but also widely disseminate information about it in the media, in society, and be prepared that then people will start listening to you.

Naturally, until then, human egoism is not ready to hear anything because it is much nicer to watch football than to listen to some courses and some transformation, development: where we have come to and why. While I can survive from today to tomorrow, I am not interested in your explanations. But when tomorrow I have neither football nor basic necessities, then it is a problem.

That is why we are preparing the basic system of integral education and upbringing.

The Two Possibilities To Exit From The Crisis

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Paul Krugman, the recipient of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Economics, Professor of Economics and International Affairs at Princeton University): “In an exclusive interview, Paul Krugman – who just published a new book titled End This Depression Now! – tells us how the Euro crisis will end.

“He basically sees two possible outcomes, both of which are ‘impossible.’

“One possibility is that the ECB aggressively buys peripheral debt and caps the borrowing costs of Spain and Italy, while simultaneously making it clear that they’re going to promote ‘expansionary monetary policies’ that boost inflation in Germany and help restore competitiveness between Germany and the periphery.

“’That can work… it’s still going to be extremely painful,’ he says.

“’Any solution is going to come out of Berlin and Frankfurt… Frankfurt will do the actual lifting, but has to have Berlin’s permission.’

“But would Berlin actually sign off on an ECB-based debt monetization, pro-inflation scheme? That’s very un-German.

“That gets to Krugman’s other possibility … Basically, eventually the ECB stops propping up all the banks (as they are now), and you get bank runs, bank holidays, and currency redenominations. That would mean the end of the euro system, which would then bring ‘cataclysmic’ effects, both economic and legal.

“You look at that scenario, says Krugman, and it seems impossible that the Germans would let the entire project disintegrate like this.

“So what happens?

“’I say it’s 50/50 … Either the Germans have to accept something they consider unacceptable, or they have to accept something, the breakup of the euro, that they consider something unacceptable.”

My Comment: The future has never seemed so threatening, but as economists’ think, the path to recovery lies only through the aggravation of disease. But the issue is, that the recovery will not follow because the disease is an indicator of disorder not in the economy, but in people, and what should be treated is the relationship between people rather than the economic system, which is its consequence.

“Eurozone Crisis Will Last For 20 Years”

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Wolfgang Münchau, from the Financial Times): “The consensus among observers had been that the EU had taken an important step in the right direction by agreeing a pathway towards a banking union, but that they did not do enough on crisis resolution. I disagree with that statement. I think it was a very large step – in the wrong direction. The summit made a concrete crisis resolution decision contingent on a future decision, which will be even harder to reach, and thus even more likely to fail.

“They agreed that there shall be no common bank recapitalisation until a full banking union is established. And the Bundesbank has reminded us that the latter is not possible without a political union. The logical implication is that we won’t solve the crisis for the next 20 years.”

My Comment: The program of correction implicit in nature will soon force us to work on our correction due to total despair and the threat of destruction.

The World Is A Network Of Connections Between Each And Everyone With The Creator

Dr. Michael LaitmanIf we could turn on our inner sight (like an x-ray), then we would discover a giant information network, which connects all the inhabitants of the world.

We need to reinforce the unacceptability of strict and one-sided criterion. In the past, there was the globalization of countries, then the globalization of corporations, and now there is the globalization of people in small societies. And as long as we divert our opinions to general questions about politics and economy, we divert ourselves from what’s important, from the integrality of the world.

The economy, is to maintain the life of the living or social body. The more complex the object is, then the amount of the interrelationships in its body are greater, as well is the density of its communication and reciprocal relations. Their knowledge is needed for modern financial management, for support in living, and the results of the lack of this information is the entire reason of our failures and of the crisis.

And in countries that still haven’t developed such connections, they still don’t feel themselves in a crisis, but they will come to it also. And if we invent our own laws, we, as if, erect walls on the way to the natural connections of society, and in the end, we cancel the natural connection and the development.

Without a doubt, all the objections to integration, the organization of all kinds of coalitions and alliances, are against social development and the plan of nature, and thus will bring its participants to their downfall.

At the basis of integration stands the aspiration of the unique upper force of nature which brings everyone to one form, to consolidation, to participation, to unity, to mutual understanding, to upper justice. Thus, the various kinds of private forms of alliances will discover their lack of coordination to the general nature and will force the creators of the alliances, in one way or another, to turn to complete integrality.

Thus, the entire system of new values, the principle and secondary ones, also those of individuals and of the society, will need to be built in coordination with natural priorities, which will bring civilization to harmony and unity.

To clarify the priorities, it is important to hold discussions and forums and to hear public opinion, but not for the purpose of changing the priorities which are determined by nature and were transmitted to us by the Kabbalists, but only in clarifying the level of development of the society and correction of its integral upbringing.

The Global Recession Will Accelerate

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (from Comstock Partners): “The U.S economy has been slowing in the last two or three months. Either downside surprises or actual declines have been reported in key economic indicators relating to consumer spending, new orders, production and employment. …

“The Chinese economy is slowing, perhaps by more than the official numbers show. … China’s economic model is heavily dependent on capital investments and exports, while internal consumer spending remains a relatively small part of GDP. … All in all, it seems that it will be difficult to avoid a hard landing.

“The slowdown in Europe, the U.S. and China is also impacting the economies of the emerging nations, which are heavily dependent on exports. Declining growth is also driving down commodity prices. Despite all of the talk of decoupling, it seems apparent that the economies of all nations are linked and that there is little prospect of an oasis of prosperity in an increasingly dependent world. …

“Unfortunately, the monetary and fiscal authorities are out of ammunition. … We believe that the April 2nd peak in the S&P 500 marked the top of the uptrend from the March 2009 lows, and that a major market decline is ahead.”

My Comment: Not a single expert has a plan of getting out of the general crisis because it is total, multi-faceted, and interrelated. The world has become interconnected and requires a similar interconnected approach. It can be provided only by an integrally organized community that has a feeling and understanding of the interconnected world.

Of course, it is possible to continue the attempts to lead this world in an egoistic, protectionist manner, but this promises huge suffering that will bring us to the need to change ourselves to survive in the new interrelated world. We will not manage without implementing mandatory integral education and upbringing for the population, and the sooner we realize this, the less damage the exit of the crisis will cause us.

Parents and Poverty: A Threat To Young Generation

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Dr. Peggy Drexler, Author, Research Psychologist, Gender Scholar): “A 2010 Federal Reserve survey – done every three years – found a staggering 40 percent drop in household net worth. With the economy continuing to struggle in the areas that hit people hardest  – home and jobs – the next survey is unlikely to show an appreciable drop in pain, possibly not for years to come. …

“As families struggle financially, they often change.

“Anxiety and depression take seats at the dinner table. Children – with their receptors to parental mood always running wide open – will sense the change in household tone. They will pick up on even the subtle shifts in the rhythms of daily routines.

Worse, they may see the loss of homes, changes in schools and friends, even verbal and physical abuse as the family fault lines crack under the unrelenting stress of getting through the month.

“Children pushed into poverty by a recession, the report says, are three times more likely to be poor themselves than those who managed to stay more affluent. ‘In short,’ say the authors, ‘the conditions of today will give rise to the next generation of poor Americans.’

“The recession has also had its way with the trust and expectations of young adults — particularly the younger end of the Millennials. …

“They are forced to assume that ‘everything that came before them was a mirage – that it was built on unsafe foundations.’

“People will find their way back to confidence. But especially for those growing up under the weight of its fearsome uncertainties, it will be with us for generations to come.”

My Comment: Integral upbringing obliges our creating public dining rooms, clubs, athletic fields, voluntary childcare, and a cultural mass leisure, and so on. It is about creating an environment that will raise up the people of the future, and not grow the lumpenproletariat. The problem is not in the means, but in the desire to organize that our egoism stops.

Unbreakable Knot: Wall Street And An African Village

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Is it necessary to have intensive studies for a long period of time so that the majority of people could approach the integral level?

Answer: We should not wait until they reach it. We don’t have time.

We see that the so-called “progressive” societies of the world are in a very critical state. Since the world is interconnected, they will naturally influence the entire world with their undesirable extreme fallout; nothing good will come from that.

Here we cannot take a statistically average segment. We should define it according to the most extreme states where the wealth, power, force, and weapons exist because it is the highest level and defines the level of human development.

Today we cannot say, “Humanity has Wall Street and at the same time it has an African village, and their average is modern humanity.” No!

Since Wall Street is working for the entire world, we should take it into account. The African village will feel its influence in any case. If Wall Street disappears, the African village will die from starvation or it will be reduced to ashes if Wall Street wishes so.

The Chinese Are Buying Up American Cities

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Economy in Crisis): “It has been said that there are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One way is by using the sword, and the other is by using debt. Fortunately, America is not in danger of being conquered by the sword right now, but America is being conquered by debt. The borrower is the servant of the lender, and today we owe China more than a trillion dollars. By running a gigantic trade deficit with us, China has been able to become incredibly wealthy. We have begged them to lend us back some of the money that we have sent them and this has made them even wealthier. Now China is gobbling up U.S. real estate and U.S. assets at an astounding pace.  In fact, some cities are in danger of becoming completely dominated by Chinese ownership. …

“In addition to real estate, the Chinese are also buying up businesses and natural resources all over the United States.

“On top of all that, the Federal Reserve recently announced that it will now allow Chinese banks to start buying up American banks.

“According to a recent report in the New York Times, investors from China are “snapping up luxury apartments” and are planning to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on commercial and residential projects like Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn. Chinese companies also have signed major leases at the Empire State Building and at 1 World Trade Center, the report said. …

“According to the Economic Policy Institute, since 2001 America has lost approximately 2.8 million jobs due to our trade deficit with China alone. There seems to be absolutely no concern with protecting American jobs these days. …

“The median net worth of families in the United States declined ‘from $126,400 in 2007 to $77,300 in 2010’ according to the Federal Reserve. … A decade ago, the United States was ranked number one in average wealth per adult. By 2010, the United States had fallen to seventh. …

“And when you factor in our debts, we are a complete and total mess. U.S. consumers are more than 11 trillion dollars in debt and the federal government is nearly 16 trillion dollars in debt.”

My Comment: The most powerful nation suddenly turned out to be a colossus with feet of clay, to what it once accused the former USSR. All this is because of the unrestrained greed of a handful of wealthy individuals who seized power and subjugated the whole country, and in the former USSR, it was because of the handful of those who craved power and world domination and subjugated the whole country. Wealth and power have ruined both countries. Egoism has won. But it is doomed to die: People will be forced to change it to a different quality: bestowal and love. No one can do this, but Kabbalah helps discover the “treasure,” to reveal the force of nature that can correct our egoism.
