The Impact of the Force of Correction

234Question: How does the force of correction that comes during the lesson affect me?

Answer: It affects you only to the extent you want it to.

Here we are not under the authority of the Creator. He keeps us in a state where we can determine for ourselves who we are, our feelings toward Him, and what we would like to change.
He adds and subtracts all these urges, desires, and forces, and as a result, we feel what is happening to us.

Become a Permanent Ten

234Question: How can we continue to support our friend if we do not know whether she listens to the lessons? What should be the frequency so that we understand that this is the circle in which we are going along the path?

Answer: There can be no set frequency. Once a week, once a month, I do not understand this!

If you are able to, you must definitely be present at the lesson. I think that first of all, you need to think about making the group in which you are constantly present into your permanent ten.

This means that you hold on to each other, try to always be in ascent, in the form of all the ten members, and follow exactly what we are studying.

032.06Question: How can you follow the advice to “be in joy” when you feel “the taste of garbage” in spiritual work?

Answer: This is a stage where you still do not understand the importance of the garbage. But can anything grow without waste, without fertilizer? There is nothing superfluous in the world, so it all depends on your attitude.

We must go through all the states and inevitably feel each one of them. These are such states where death seems sweeter than life, but you will not be able to avoid them, because you must understand what “the will to receive” is.

I am speaking directly and without exaggeration: if you do not feel this, you will not be able to come out from under the control of the will to enjoy, although even that does not help very much. This is the revelation of the “angel of death.” Without the support of the group, without a strict daily schedule, without the commitments you take upon yourself, it is impossible to cope with it.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to take on commitments. You must complete the work today; let it press on you like a yoke on an ox. There is nothing worse than feeling free. Even though you see nothing, feel nothing, understand nothing, and remember nothing, you begin to work because you must, and gradually you come out of the state of descent and continue on the path.

We are governed by two forces, and we are given only the opportunity to move from the rule of one to the influence of the other. There is the rule of two forces and an intermediate state in which you choose under which influence to be. You must try, from this intermediate state, the middle line, to control these two forces, as if they were two reins in your hands.

Therefore, keep your daily schedule: the lesson, reviewing the lesson, sing, dance in your room when no one sees you, laugh; do everything to come out of a bad state. You don’t agree; you resist the governance of this force! Despair is the worst thing of all.

How to Build the Temple

231.02All of the Creator’s works are not as people’s works. When people build the Temple below, first they make the walls of the city and then the Temple.

First, the walls of the city, to protect them, and then the construction of the house. The Creator builds the Temple first, and finally, when He lowers it from the sky and places it in its place, it will build the walls of Jerusalem. This is why David said, “By Your favor do good to Zion” first, and then, “Build the walls of Jerusalem” (Rashbi, Zohar for All, “The Old Man [The Grandfather]”).

Question: What is the difference between building walls and building the Temple in spiritual work?

Answer: Our work lies in the fact that within the vast desire to receive pleasure that is revealed to us, we define a certain area where we are able to connect only with thoughts and desires aimed at bestowal, and we can relate them to others: friends, the group, the Creator.

All the rest of our desires we are not yet capable of using for the sake of bestowal. Therefore, our desire is divided into many parts, including the stony heart.

This is why we first build boundaries, screens, and only afterward, with the help of those screens, when we already know how to act correctly, we perform Zivug (coupling) and construct a Partzuf.

The building of the inner part of the Partzuf, from Peh to Tabur is called the construction of the Temple (in Hebrew, the word for Temple means House of Holiness). The Rosh (head) of the Partzuf is used for planning; this is called the “work of Bezalel.” The Sof (end) of the Partzuf is not yet properly engaged.

But in essence, it is with these parts of the Partzuf, which serve as boundaries, that the Temple is built, because we can construct something only from its opposite, good and evil, light and darkness; it is only by comparing opposites can we create boundaries and build a structure.

Whereas the Creator builds differently, not through limitations or calculations of “how much there is” and “how much is lacking.”

On the contrary, the upper light builds holiness, bestowal, the Temple itself within the desire, and the remaining part of the desire, which the upper light does not enter, is what forms the “walls of Jerusalem” erected afterward, in the final act.

This is the difference between constructing the Temple from below upward and constructing it from above downward.

Dissolve in the Ten

938.02Question: Lately, there has been a feeling that we should already be approaching the quality of bestowal since everyone in the ten has this desire. On the other hand, it is noticeable that most of the friends have calmed down and are paying more attention to corporeal needs. It turns out that the quality of bestowal seems to be there, but there is nowhere to apply it. What should we do?

Answer: You must integrate into your ten in such a way that there are no distances between you, so that what one has, flows to another, to a third one, and so on. Then your ten will be unified, and you will be able to feel the spiritual structure. This is what you need to achieve.

You must dissolve in the ten and together with it—together with it—move forward. If all of you feel yourselves as one, then you will succeed.

The Most Important Thing Is to Desire

237Question: You said that Kabbalistic sources are dead if we do not engage in unification. Is it possible to imagine our unification alive without the sources?

Answer: Can we move forward without books? Of course we can.

There were periods when humanity had no books at all. Afterward, they appeared at a time when people still did not know how to read and write correctly. So it doesn’t matter. The main thing is to desire. We always attain what we attain in our desires. Therefore, the most important thing for us is to desire.

The Place Where the Creator Will Be Revealed to Us

528.01Question: We say that everything depends on the connection between us. But what is this connection?

Answer: We begin our spiritual development from a point that is outside of spirituality. And the whole time we remain on this point outside spirituality called this world in which we now exist.

Why? So that we would be independent from the spiritual world. The spiritual world is like a huge sphere, and we are now outside of it, off to the side. And then I can enter it, or I can choose not to. I am as if independent.

When the point in the heart is awakened within me, I begin to strive toward this sphere even though I do not yet picture myself as a tiny dot next to a huge, awe-inspiring sphere into which I wish to enter. But I am drawn to it.

With this desire, this yearning for spirituality, I come to a group. What is this group? Men sitting together, studying, talking, being inspired, discussing, singing, eating. Some sort of club—rather strange, but there are many such places in the world.

I look at this group as just an ordinary gathering of people in this world. Then they tell me: “You must connect with us, join the group, take part in all the activities, the duties, take on certain responsibilities, because we have a common work.” I am ready; what else can I do… After all, I see some benefit in it.

So, I connect with these guys because I understand that together we will apparently achieve something. Besides, I do not see any other place where I could do this, so I comply.

Gradually, over the years, I discover that in this place where I am, there truly is an inner connection. I come to discover this after several years. And those years were not in vain. They were years of my inner work, when I did not feel it, but the upper light was acting and performing many actions within me at great speed. Then I begin to hear. What does it mean “to hear”? I suddenly begin to pay attention, to give value to the inner connection between us, the unity in feelings, in hearts.

It is just that the time has come, and I begin to be moved by these words, to give them importance. This is the result of the light that had been working on me all those years, penetrating ever deeper into my heart, and the heart began to respond to these words: “connection,” “mutual guarantee,” “love,” “bestowal,” “as one man with one heart.” I begin to feel some inner responses to these words. For each word, there is a certain reaction within me; I sense the inner essence of the word.

More months go by, and more, and more. For this is how we correct our foundations, the Malchut of infinity within us, until I truly begin to draw closer to my friends. I now see them as companions on my spiritual path, and I understand that this path runs inward, into us, into our inner center, into our inner connection. And there, if we unite, we attain everything.

And if before I imagined the spiritual world as a huge sphere outside of me, perhaps somewhere far beyond the boundaries of the Universe, now I increasingly associate spirituality with my inner feeling, which is revealed in the unity between us.

This place does not exist now, but if we begin to connect with one another, we will create a new reality, which will be called “the place.” From these shared desires we will reach the place in which the Creator will be revealed.
