New Life #368 – The Heroes Of The Bible: Yael And David

New Life #368 – The Heroes Of The Bible: Yael And David
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

The Biblical heroes Yael and David are human figures who, despite their weaknesses, act for the nation and its unity. What makes them special and what is demanded of them in order to win the battles of Israel?

Summary

A woman usually thinks about the wellbeing of her children. Yael acted for the wellbeing of the whole nation.

The feeling that the whole nation are her children is what gave her the power to act wisely and use her female power. Her heroism is in being able to widen her heart, to widen the boundaries of love and include the whole nation.

The idea behind the story of David and Goliath is that every ordinary person who follows his truth and the upper force will win.

A shepherd is one who leads the nation, who wants to protect the nation and to lead them to the upper force.

There is an inner war here: David defeats Goliath, acquires his enormous strength, and uses it positively. If one nation conquers another nation it absorbs its values and its spirit after a while. David is a hero for harnessing the strength of Goliath in order to follow his own way, in the positive direction. Goliath symbolizes the egoistic use of power, in order to harm people. David uses power in order to increase love. David was fueled by Goliath’s strength and then went his own way, toward love of others.

New Life #367 – Self-Sacrifice

New Life #367 – Self-Sacrifice
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

How is a situation of sacrificing one’s life for the benefit of others, what affects the decision to sacrifice lives and what is the sacrifice for the attainment of inner truth?

Summary

A soldier is ready to sacrifice himself for his friends if he feels them as his own.

A person is able to connect with others, feeling others as himself. Animals don’t have such an ability. A person has a point of connection with everyone because all of us come from one source.

For a person who goes according to his inner truth, it doesn’t matter to him how and when his physical life will stop. For him, attainment of the truth is more important than life itself.

When a person works on connection, he begins to feel the truth that all of us are one, he discovers love for others. The point of truth is found in the center of the group, in the center of the circle. It doesn’t belong to anyone, it belongs to everyone.

Today all of humanity is like a team of soldiers found in a single tank, but without the protection of armor….

The point of truth is when a person is included with others and devotes his energy and abilities to them.

New Life #366 – Courage

New Life #366 – Courage
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

Why do we all want to be heroes? How do we measure courage in our world and how is a person’s true courage expressed?

Summary

Everyone wants to be a hero since a hero is almighty, doesn’t depend on others, and can turn the world so that he can benefit from it.

Courage is a more personal matter. It isn’t about just being a hero like others.  There is a hero who overcomes others and there is a hero who overcomes himself, his bodily weaknesses, his laziness. True courage is when a person fights his egoistic nature on the path of loving others.

There is a point of truth in every person that is hidden deep inside him like a pearl under a pile of garbage.

“Who is a hero? He who suppresses his desire.” It is about an inversion of values—love of others and giving instead of self love and receiving, The point of truth in us tells us that the truth is external to our desire to consider only ourselves.

New Life #363 – An Approach to Life: Achieving Goals

New Life #363 – An Approach to Life: Achieving Goals
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

How can a person be helped by the environment to achieve goals that he sets for himself, how does it influence success in realizing them, and how do they harness the members of a group for a common goal?

Summary

In defining a goal for myself, it is necessary to be certain that I have the skills to achieve it. Then it is necessary to enter into an environment of people who are found in this area and see if this is right for me.

-To achieve the group goal, you should take an example from successful groups in our field.

-A group means that everyone is working for one common goal and not that each one wants to stand out.

The work in building a group is to really transform individuals into a single body. Each one will feel his friend.

-For example, people on a team who want to shine must first develop a common or group mind.

-There are those who are naturally focused on a goal and those who are not. By coming closer to each other, everyone will become focused.

New Life #362 – Setting Goals In Life

New Life #362 – Setting Goals In Life
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

A person has different goals in his lifetime. How does that affect his life and what goals should he set for himself according to the current trend of our development?

Summary

Does fate determine our goals in life or do we?

– There are people who set their own goals and who strive to attain them. Others flow with current of life.

– It is best to set your own goals in life that go along with the current trend of our development.

Nature obliges us to be increasingly more connected, so the future profession will be the wisdom of connection.

– Setting the right internal goal, connecting to others, will make the attainment of external goals much easier.

– We are egoists by nature while the world around us is becoming increasingly more connected, which leads to a clash.

New Life #601 – The Search For Love

New Life #601 – The Search For Love
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Summary

Everyone wants love, yet it seems that it is impossible to attain it. Love is connection between the Kli (vessel) and the Light. True love is that I fulfill the other and not myself. It is fulfilling him, not being fulfilled by him.

To achieve love, it is necessary to rise above our ego. This can be in couples or with friends.

“And you shall love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18): Just as nature created self-love in me, it is up to me to ask for it to build love in me. I want to love others without any personal interest.

“Love covereth all transgressions” (Proverbs 10:12): If a force comes and corrects you, you no longer see defects in others. We will not succeed in achieving true love in relationships as long as we don’t realize the general rule, “And you shall love your friend as yourself” in society.

It is necessary to seek love within us, not partners who are appropriate for what we are missing but the desire to love.

Love is built from concessions, not from each one coming with demands from the other. Love is enjoying concession. A person thinks that if he fulfills himself, if he loves himself, he will achieve happiness. This is erroneous, it is false. It is up to us to learn how to be fulfilled correctly, eternally, and perfectly. This will happen only through love of others.

New Life 526 – Changing My Life For The Better

New Life 526 – Changing My Life For The Better
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

The ego develops distance between us more and more. Everything that we develop turns against us. It is human nature to feel only oneself, to take what is good, to flee from what is bad. The ego leads us to more and more separation from everything that is not “me,” from all of the reality around me. Simultaneously, within the nature that surrounds us, everything is connected in a wonderful harmony. And only we are against nature.

It is up to us to replace the power of the ego with the power of connection, approach and giving. This can sound weird at first, but this is the development toward which nature is pushing us.

This change will be carried out in a society whose goal is to build connection, bestowal, and love, to build a true “paradise.” The Israeli society must take the lead in the process of correcting relationships between people, to provide an example. Being a “Light to the nations” means being the spiritual center of the world, the center of spirit and love.

International Day Of Happiness

laitman_285_01Comment: On March 20th the world celebrated the International Day of Happiness. The UN adopted a resolution proclaiming the International Day of Happiness, an initiative of the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Answer: Of course, I would like there to be happiness 365 days a year.

There are many days marked on the calendar like women’s day, etc. It is desirable that on these days the whole of humanity plays a special game in happiness: to make everyone happy – for one day. That would be great!

Maybe then we would realize that it is possible. If you just think of how to make everyone happy and everyone else thinks the same about others, happiness suddenly appears. Happiness doesn’t exist in the world but it suddenly begins to appear from somewhere, and the whole world becomes imbued with this cloud of happiness.

If that happened, we would all create a cloud of happiness together, which would engulf us, envelop us, and we would float on it and feel that we are in paradise.

The chain of happiness that would return to a person would reveal to him the positive force that is concealed in our world, which we cannot feel because we don’t resemble it. But if we behaved as described above, we would generate happiness from our world and begin to use it and live in happiness.

Then a person would consume only 20 calories a day in order to live and even less because the force of happiness would permeate him and fill him. This would be the strongest source of energy.

Gradually immersing ourselves in this state, playing with happiness, we would attain eternity and most importantly become immortal. After all, what actually kills us is the state of unhappiness that our egoism brings us.

The wisdom of Kabbalah offers us to be happy and shows us how to do it. So I am for true happiness 365 days a year.

New Life #365 – A Dialogue

New Life #365 – A Dialogue
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

Something special happens when two people speak with each other. What is the meaning of conversation in our lives? How does one conduct a conversation correctly, what is a successful conversation, what is the potential that exists in this encounter between two?

Summary

The art of conversation that we conduct daily is very important to us in the success of our business, in the success of the family, etc.

  • Today we are very used to using text messages and e-mails, and each one remains more in his corner. So specifically today it is very important for us to regain this skill.
  • In our lives there is a place for conversation if there is something that I want to get from someone else or if I have something to give, to contribute to him.
  • There should be a subject and two people who can be interested in the same subject that is something in common between them so that they can exchange information, exchange all kinds of impressions.

Going over a text, I try to flow in the same wave with him, creating a common desire between us and shared thoughts, mine, his, and something in common.

  • During the conversation we basically don’t appreciate the conversation.
  • This is like an atomic reactor into which I throw my fuel with thoughts and emotions, and he throws his fuel with thoughts and emotions.
  • So what generally follows from this is something more interesting, something higher, a special brilliance.
  • Each one enjoys inclusion with the other, the opinions of the other, this communication.
  • We leave the conversation when each one is essentially at least doubled, each one acquires emotion and wisdom from the other.

A person must prepare himself for an important conversation at work, with a partner or with someone with whom it is important to him to reach agreement.

  • Prepare a plan: The purpose of the conversation, what the subject is, what must be said, about what do you want to get an opinion, or what conclusion do you want to reach.
  • Clarify how much a person will soon enter into a connection with you, how much he is for or against everything that you will say, what is his approach toward you, and his attitude toward the entire subject.
  • Today we are found in a flood of all kinds of opinions and conversations, new and old, we have nothing of our own; as for me, I have nothing of my own.
  • If the connection with the person himself is important to me, then the subject is secondary or could even be peripheral because he is more interesting to me than I am to myself.
  • Or the subject is important to me and this person is also important, because as far as it seems he has an important opinion on this subject. But that is how it is, and I need to know that each and every connection into which I enter influences me so much for the rest of my life.

A successful outcome from a conversation is that I need to become clothed within the person, and know how to be with him more openly on a human level, and how much it is already possible to combine this on the plane of interests. There are two planes among us; one is between people and the other is channels of information.

New Life #348 – Peace In Israel And In The World

New Life #348 – Peace In Israel And In The World
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Why can’t we have peace? How is this related to the fact that the world is always against us and what is the role of Israel in the world?

Summary

Peace in Israel refers to inner wholeness. Abraham, the nation’s patriarch, taught mercy and love.

  • When there is no love between us but unfounded hatred, we are not a nation.
  • As long as there is no peace between us, there will not be peace on the outside.
  • We need to live in peace between us and to learn how to connect before there can be any reconciliation with the Arabs or with the world.

If we live a life of love and connection in Israel, everything around us will quiet down and everyone will want to learn from us.

  • Today we are like a pain in the neck for the world, and the other nations don’t know how to get rid of us,
  • We have to search internally and begin to build the nation of Israel.
  • There is no one to be afraid of but ourselves. Today we are destroying ourselves, Being a “Light unto the nations” means building a social model of life that is based on connection and love in Israel.
  • We should start a general educational process in order to unite the nation, connect above all the differences, like in a family. Let’s start with that and the neighboring nations will become our best friends; we will also connect with them. The more the socio-educational process will penetrate them, the more will be as one with them.

The whole world subconsciously feels that the key for a good life is in the hands of the Jews.

  • The right approach for peace that Israel should adopt is first of all educating ourselves to live in peace among us.
  • It is from here that love will spread all over the world until all of mankind will be as one family.
  • No one other than us can bring world peace, but we are asleep and therefore others hate us.
