Not Knowledge, But Life

219.01Question: People who have been studying Kabbalah for a long time understand that when they go through difficult states, there is no point in screaming and getting nervous. They take it more inwardly. Is it due to their experience or to something else?

Answer: Of course, it is due to their experience. Over the years, you become more experienced, you are filled with all kinds of data, and you know how to react to things. It is natural.

But this happens at the stage when a person does not yet fully enter the upper world. And when he enters there, he becomes a boy again: “Ah! Ah!” constantly running from corner to corner as a child looking for something with his eyes wide open, such a Kabbalist.

All the rest are swaggering, important, and filled with all sorts of wisdom, but a true Kabbalist is not like that. He has nothing to fill himself with. He reveals everything in himself. He is as if naked. He does not have great knowledge. He lives in it.

I can tell you a lot about our world, but if you do not know this world and just have to memorize and remember the material, for you it will be just a mass of knowledge. And for a person who lives in this world, it is life. He knows that this is this way and that is that way. He does not need to memorize artificial things because for him they are life itself.

The same is true about the upper world. When it is revealed to a Kabbalist, everything becomes simple. He does not need any special knowledge.

I come to a lesson and they say to me: “Now we will read this article, or study The Study of the Ten Sefirot, such and such a world, such and such conditions, and such and such laws.” If I were a professor in some subject, I would have to prepare myself and refresh the material because I do not live in that era.

And in spirituality, I exist precisely in this. It cannot be easier for me to talk about it. You say one phrase, and I can talk about it for an hour because I live in it. With this phrase, you put me into a certain spiritual state, I see what is happening, and easily talk about it. Therefore I do not need to know anything in advance. On the contrary, it reduces the sharpness of perception.
