A Measuring Tool For the Light

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Can I know that the Light has “worked” on me? Can I measure its influence?

Answer: At this stage, certainly not. This will be possible only after you have vessels (Kelim), when you can work under restriction (Tzimtzum), with a screen (Masach) and Reflected Light (Ohr Hozer).

Then through working in a certain formation of desire, you will know this, for you will be corrected by the Light to such a degree that you can work with your desire to receive for the sake of bestowal. Then you will examine the desire that is revealed in you and will measure with it that part with which you will work for the sake of bestowal, in that you will understand the mechanism of what is happening.

That is also how the Kabbalists in The Book of Zohar talk about all kinds of happenings and events on the spiritual way, describing real observations within spiritual vessels.

But today you still don’t have the vessels, and you don’t have anything with which to measure. You can measure only on condition that you make a restriction on all of your desire to receive. And this is possible to do only through the Light that Reforms. If the Light comes and illuminates you, then you feel a strong enthusiasm, elation, which makes it possible for you to make a restriction, and after that to make a clarification within your desires, to sort them out, to extract the desires with which it is possible to work.

Thus, you become familiar with the inner structure of the HaVaYaH of your Kelim; you see how you can arrange them and direct them towards one goal, on all four levels of thickness (Aviut) to adherence with the Creator. Work like this truly will make it possible for you to measure the Light in your Kelim.
