Baal HaSulam, “Peace in the World”: Thus, peace of the world and peace of the state are interdependent. Hence, we necessarily find that even that part of the state which is currently satisfied with its life, which are the nimble and the clever, still have a lot to be concerned about for the safety of their lives, due to the tensions with those who strive to overthrow them. And if they understood the value of peace, they would be happy to adopt the conduct of living of the last generation, for “all that a man has will he give for his life.”

There is a simple condition for the good life of the last generation, and that is to know that all over the earth, in all of humanity everything is connected integrally and globally and no one is free of this general account. Everyone is connected to everyone in full connections that we know of and that we don’t know of, the revealed and the concealed. There are millions of strings stretched among us through my thoughts and my desires and through all of me. If I haven’t revealed them yet, it doesn’t mean that they don’t exist. Of course they exist and they are more clearly revealed each day.

The only thing I can do is to understand that that’s the way it is, but the understanding isn’t enough—I need to come to the feeling that I was able to correctly use the situation. Let it limit me when I do something wrong and push me forward in the right initiatives, according to the general system in which we are all connected to one another.

If I don’t feel, I will miss this opportunity: I will start saying one thing and doing another thing, which is what is actually happening today.

Well, first I have to understand it myself and explain to those around me. But eventually, this system has to be revealed to us so that we will really see it in our eyes and in our insight, so that we will feel its signals coming from heart to heart, from mind to mind.

No one will be able to think and contemplate by himself. Everyone will have to connect to the whole world in his thoughts. In other words, we need one heart and one mind for everyone.

Life itself demands the unity. We are moving in this direction and will reach it anyway if not now, then later. So how can we execute this? Will some global government or some global police help us? What can we do?

We need a special means that will show us the connection among everyone in an emotional and cognitive manner, so that we will not just look at in from the side, but will actually find ourselves in it.

Then I will automatically worry about others: If I think, I think about everyone; if I make a decision, I take everyone into account. I will be strongly and tightly connected to the general. Without this there is no chance we will succeed.

Question: You have described the final state, but not how to get there.

Answer: That’s right. Even now I can use my common sense and my right mind in order to depict for myself how things should be. If I already see the general system, how does it obligate me at the moment? Then other conditions will be revealed, even tougher and stranger ones.

Still I have to think objectively regarding the present: There are certain components that are connected in a certain way.

How do I connect them so that everyone feels all the others and everyone can take everyone else into account?

Everyone knows the other’s nature thoroughly and is unlimitedly connected to everyone in a variety of connections and has such a large mind that he can take everyone into account, to immediately plan projects on everyone’s behalf and carry out actual operations, assured that these operations are optimal and that in the current circumstances are the best possible.

Otherwise, if everyone continues carrying on his personal accounts under the conditions of the growing mutual connection, everything will fall apart like a car whose parts go in every direction when an accident occurs.

So we have to see the picture of our unity as compulsory: Everyone has the mind of everyone and everyone has the feelings of everyone else. How is that possible? That’s a question in itself. But even now we already see that nature is presenting us with this problem.

Baal HaSulam, “Peace in the World”: And each and every individual in society is like a wheel that is linked to several other wheels placed in a machine. And this single wheel has no freedom of movement in and of itself, but continues with the motion of the rest of the wheels in a certain direction to qualify the machine to perform its general role.

Suppose you are a bolt in an engine and you break down. As a result the whole engine breaks down together with you. So the car and the passengers inside are unable to move, blocking the road for other cars with other passengers. All this is only because of one small bolt. There was such an incident in the English army, when the king lost a battle because of a horseshoe that broke off the horse. The horse began to limp and this demoralized the soldiers and led to their defeat. Later they found out that one broken nail was the reason for their defeat and for the death of thousands.

So what is the price of one single bolt? It is worth all the damage that it can cause if it breaks down or doesn’t function properly. It turns out that you are worthwhile to the world according to your value, because we suffer because of you. However, if you do your job, then we will reach the end of correction. This means that you are dear to us, actually priceless, since everything depends on you. In other words everyone is worth a whole world, both according to his contribution and according to the damage he can cause.

Man is a social creature, which means that he depends on everyone and everyone depends on him, but this is revealed gradually.

All of human history is the essence of the social revelation of man. When he climbed down from the tree he lived in the society of the family or the tribe and then gradually expanded his social boundaries. On the one hand, the ego which separates him from others developed in him, and so he had property—a house of his own, his own field, his own camels, horses, sheep, servants… on the other hand, he became more dependent on others—one person became a blacksmith, another a shoemaker, a third became a tailor, another became a farmer, and they were all dependent on one another on the human level of exchanging goods and services. This is despite the fact that a person actually doesn’t want to give anything but only wants to take.

Thus the wheels of the global mechanism started moving since there was no other choice, although no one wanted to coordinate his actions with others. Society developed throughout history along two lines: a growing mutual dependence and a growing egoistic repulsion. People closed themselves by city walls and political borders until this irreversible process reached a dead end, as we have a big ego, and we all depend on one another. This is what is revealed to us today at the end of the two trends that started in the past and have shaped mankind.

Today we have no choice: We are totally dependent on each other and totally hate one another although neither aspect has been fully revealed yet, and we still have to discover this. On the whole, it is revealed by the upper Light that Reforms when we try to connect so that we can rise towards it.

Suppose we want to connect worldwide, what will be the benefit of such an action? By seeing the initial advantages of the connection, we will also see that we are very far from it, absorbed in evil. This is because good and bad are measured in contrast to one another. So time after time, by yearning for the good, for unity, we will rediscover a new evil, which is called the “war of Gog and Magog”—Armageddon…

On the whole, our general collective mechanism is operating now too if we look at it from a different level of clarification. The wheels are spinning and the parts are working. The question is whether you agree with the actions of this mechanism when they are revealed to you. This is how we should examine the situation, from a more mature level.

We have to intensify dissemination. Thanks to dissemination people are already starting to understand the reason for the crisis. It’s better if they learn this today (or actually yesterday) since the process of recognition and understanding takes time. A great mass will not understand what is happening immediately; it will not see the solution immediately, since it will have to understand that the situation will not be resolved by itself, that man is actually the problem and he’s the one that should be corrected and not the world.

It’s about a change of perception: “I have to change myself? What’s wrong with me?” Talk to people on the street and try to explain this to them.

We have to reveal the truth gradually by explaining the concept of connection and unity. A person assumes that he is quite connected to those around him and we have to bring him to the minimal recognition of evil, and at the same time not turn him off. It’s because no one likes to hear such things. Therefore, we give objective explanations and seem to be somewhat distracted, bringing the examples of others and bringing a person to the initial recognition, so that he’ll start feeling, “Yes, there is indeed a problem here.”

It turns out that we have simply created a terrible world. Instead of a healthcare system, we have a source of illnesses, the education system teaches crime and prostitution, the banks steal and abuse the customers, the manufacturers impose on the consumer unnecessary products that break down quickly and have to be replaced in a year. In short, we have created systems and mechanisms that are not in our favor anymore.

It’s an unusual crisis, which happens as we “bend the stick” and upset the balance. Fifty-eighty years ago we created quality products and assumed that humanity would prosper thanks to that. But today the “American dream” is collapsing. Suddenly it turns out that the system operates on its own, just like a cancerous tumor that devours its environment. It takes place in every field: in commerce and industry, in health and education; everything is collapsing. Why? Because our ego has ended its evolution and has become “round” and closed. The time has come to repair it.

Question: How do the nations of the world force Israel to unite?

Answer: As soon as Israel begins to advance correcting itself, immediately, due to their inclusion in all the others, through these channels, the Light begins to flow also to the nations of the world. Then, all the nations feel their approaching the Light and to the Source. And according to their internal nature of desire, this calms them.

We need to understand that these desires of the fourth level are in a helpless state because they have just a need to be filled with the Light without any connection with It or ability to attract the Reforming Light.

This dependence of the nations of the world on Israel is instinctively felt in the world more and more, depending on how Israel realizes its correction. This issue will become more important. In the next few years, it will be obvious that humanity will become more sensitive to the behavior of Israel.

Attempts to be like everyone else and supposedly benefit humanity in the material world, making different inventions and discoveries, will not help Israel. This is not what is expected of it. Subconsciously, the world expects from Israel the connection to the Source of creation and will not exchange it for anything else.

That is why, instinctively, there will be such calculations, and the friction between us and all our alleged friends such as the USA and others will increase. We cannot avoid this because precisely these states will show us our uncorrected state. We need to understand that it does not depend on them at all, but only on us, on how we will carry out our mission and follow the spiritual direction. By this we completely define in the fastest and most direct way, the attitude of the nations of the world towards Israel.

Therefore, if our relations with the Americans deteriorate, it is caused only by our actions. If we see that our relations are consistently worsening day by day, we need to understand that we have to correct ourselves as soon as possible. The world is purposefully built in this way that Israel depends on everyone, precisely because in reality everyone depends on Israel internally.

If Israel will do what is required—internal correction—then the world will leave it alone. But if we do not fulfill our obligations, but continue to be engaged in someone else’s work, then everyone will put pressure on us: the Creator from Above, and the world from below.

There is a great qualitative part called “Israel” (ISR-EL) in the general desire to receive. This part was founded by those who left ancient Babylon together with Abraham, who yearned for a connection with the upper force, in contrast to the other Babylonians. But the main thing is that they need this connection in order to be the conductors of the Light to the nations of the world (WORLD).

Then it is said in the form of a fable that the Creator turned to the nations of the world and offered them the method of correction, but they were not able to accept its principles: not to murder, not to steal, etc. Indeed, our egoistic desires cannot fulfill the intention of bestowal by themselves and so they need a “head” that will give them the right intention.

 Thus the two parts of the general desire have to be together. They cannot be one without the other. First the part of Israel should be corrected, which means to have the right intention so that they will be ready to work with the desires. Then it will be possible to turn to the desires themselves, by correcting them by the intentions of bestowal.

It is important to understand a couple of subtleties here: We already know that the corrected desires are different from the uncorrected ones in their intentions. The intentions depend on Israel. So there is nothing we can demand from the nations of the world; the correction is up to Israel and its connection with the world. After the destruction of the Temple and the shattering, Israel sank into the egoistic intention, and so it is for this reason that it has to correct itself first. Then they will only draw and add the desires of the nations of the world to the right intentions and then the correction is guaranteed.

We have to focus and prepare for this moment: We operate consciously and we are aware of what we are doing, that the obligation of the correction is ours and we shouldn’t wait for the nations of the world to do something. Otherwise they won’t understand their dependence on Israel and will turn their demands and anger towards us. Clearly, this will only bring about disasters, since they are not corrected yet and cannot pressure us in any other way.

It is Israel’s spiritual and corporeal obligation to hasten the correction as much as we can. We cannot depend on the nations of the world in any way if we don’t influence them correctly and don’t bring out intention closer to their intentions.

On the whole it is a very simple schema, although it leads to many outcomes. “Israel” means “I have a head – Li – Rosh.” Everything depends on the head of the Partzuf. The third and final phase is different from the first initial phase as humanity acquires a “head” while the other desires remain the same.

So it turns out that the correction depends on Israel. The nations of the world who are the body of the Partzuf are seemingly waiting for Israel to be ready to give them their intention, to add the intentions of the “head” to the “body.” The body itself is passive and can only move in one direction. It can be much more clever than Israel with all the wisdoms in the world, but in itself it will not arrive at the idea of bestowal and so it cannot perform the correction.

Therefore no one has a solution for the current crisis. Humanity will find itself totally helpless and things can deteriorate to riots, murders, and wars. Eventually, it will put enough pressure on Israel so that it will build the intention correctly and will present the rescue method to everyone: “Let’s connect and unite. Join us.” This should be done as soon as possible.

Question: In the past, in Ukrainian villages, they would build a house in one day. All the villagers would come together and build it. Is it possible in a Kabbalist group, when people would gather and give all their strength and all their energy in order to help others in some way?

Answer: I think that now the Creator will bring us to this. He will invite very big changes in the economy. Masses of people will become unemployed. They will understand that in order to survive, they will need to unite and in this way will find a correct system for connection and unity. With our help, they will find it, and specifically in this form they will exist, doing everything together.

But since this will already be unity at a higher level, it will feed everyone with enormous energy. Baal HaSulam writes about this in the book The Last Generation. Thus, I think, that we are approaching this. Or through our dissemination and consciousness, or via big blows, in any case, humanity will quickly discover that without the correct connection and unity, including the previous studying, education, and knowledge, it will be impossible to do anything.

This is what we see today in Europe. They wanted to connect between them without any inner preparation, and now are separating. And this was a great problem for them. These were normal blows: Everything will fall; everything will collapse just to show people the necessity of unity.

The movement itself is correct, only not in the capitalistic ideology where each one takes for oneself all that he can, but a different ideology. Thus, we will be building together.

In spirituality there is a vessel that is made of two parts: GE and AHP. All the Kabbalistic books describe precisely these spiritual roots. The results are in our world: “the branches.” In other words, the action of the roots from the world of Atzilut create their replica here.

We can compare it to computerized graphics that are reflected on a screen so that they can be easily viewed. I see figures of people on the screen: Some of them are a projection from GE and some are from AHP. In spirituality, there is a force called “Abraham” which clarifies the vessels, the desires, into two types, and as a result, there are two groups in our world: Israel, which means straight to the Creator (Yashar-Kel) and the nations of the world.

Everything stems from the roots, which in the spiritual “computer” are processed by a special “addition” until the end of the program. We follow the process on the “screen” which is our world. Now according to the relations between these two groups, we can learn about their roots, or we can rise to the roots and learn about the branches.

But there is a gap (∆) between the projection on the screen and the “computerized source, and that is the fulfillment of our role. Inside the computer the absolute whole controls and the one who is in charge of the screen has freewill (choice) in fulfilling the goal. This option is concealed in the group called “Israel.”

Two correct claims regarding this problematic element stem from this, on the side of the nations of the world and on the side of the Creator who is behind the “sources.” It is Israel who should bring the world to correction and show everyone what is good and what is bad and should explain the plan of creation; in short, it owes everyone.

Israel can be proud of this obligation and this special work, the Creator’s work, or they can dump it as “irrelevant.” In any case, as we see from history, everything revolves around these people, fortunately or unfortunately for them, depending on how you look at it.

Question: When a Kabbalist reveals the method of correction, are his books enough or should there be someone who should use them correctly?

Answer: ARI in his generation outlined the oral method and the three generations that followed him put it writing. Then came Baal Shem Tov who began to implement the method practically. His disciples who were great Kabbalists continued his legacy and wrote the wisdom of Kabbalah in great detail.

In addition, there were many figures throughout history like Spinoza, Marx, and Einstein who expressed their attitude to society, to science and to the perception of reality in different nonreligious forms and thus expanded the approaches for this method for the world.

Marx for example, regardless of what we know about him, actually began to speak about the fulfillment of the wisdom of Kabbalah in the world. What is socialism if we disregard the false Soviet improvisation? It is the method of our mutual connection in one equal society in which we manage our whole life. Actually, it is about Kabbalistic principles. So it turns out that Marx is one of the “angels” in the hands of the Creator.

What did Spinoza do? He took the Jew out of the external frameworks of Judaism and “shook” him in order to take him on an alternative path and a new perspective of spirituality that is not limited by the performance of external commandments, but which include another element.

It doesn’t matter how accurate this direction was; the Creator brought about this development, which was enough in those days.

Then Einstein did the same thing in the field of science when he discovered the concept of relativity and the natural limit and the speed of light. He studied the mutual relations between matter and a dimension that was unknown until then, in terms of changing time and distance, in a changing reality, where everything is relative.

Thus, gradually all the methods lead to the picture of the new world that loses its previous stability and becomes changeable in a person’s perception.

The wisdom of Kabbalah speaks about the same thing: Everything changes according to our attributes. Even now, we can already change our world and everything that we see if we rise to the level of more sublime desires. Then another world will open up for us of different mutual forces and relationships; instead of people, we will see totally different creatures, souls.

We are actually approaching this perception through different intermediate phases, through a virtual world. Many people have been through this path besides the three that we have mentioned. On the whole even the smallest detail in history leads to this point of correction. Eventually everything is concentrated in it.

Baal HaSulam, “A Handmaid Is Heir to Her Mistress”: The Higher Roots, called “Externality,” as we have explained above, are generally called “handmaid” and “slave.” This aims to show that they do not intend to harm at all, as it may seem in superficial observation. Instead, they serve the internality, like the slave and the handmaid who serve their masters.

It seems that the world is full of conflicts, wars, hatred, and troubles, and although we could really manage among us by cooperation and mutuality, eventually everything is aimed at one thing: Even in the current situation everyone is serving one another. It is very hard to accept this and yet that’s the way it is. The relations among us may seem unpleasant and awful, but still everyone serves others.

Of course, we cannot accept this form of fulfillment; on the contrary, we can sustain the same thing in a faster, better, and more comfortable manner. Still we have to accept the upper Providence: no matter what happens, everything happens for the purpose of mutual correction.

Question: Today I hear on the news that the Iranian leaders want to destroy Israel. Do I have to say to myself: “That’s good, it serves us?”

Answer: There is no doubt that it serves us, but we could accept the current phase of our development in a more pleasant and comfortable way if we related to what is happening correctly. The problem is in us, in the Jewish people and so we summon upon ourselves specifically this form of external pressure instead of a friendly attitude.

The forces of development are expressed this way since we are not preparing ourselves to accept them correctly. Who else is to blame for that but us? This is where all the accusations of the Jews stem from.

After all, the initiative is in our hands, we have the method and around us are desires that cry out: “Why aren’t you coming with the correction?!” Instead of with presents and signs of love, they approach us with threats since we don’t give them what they need.

On the whole, the world is balanced, and that is the world of Ein Sof (Infinity). If we make it lose its balance by not judging the world to the scale of merit, the scale of guilt rises, of not fulfilling our obligation. Rav Kook writes about it: If it is impossible to blow a kosher Shofar of redemption, the enemies of Israel come, Amalek, Hitler, etc. and blow in our ears…and evoke the redemption. He says that Amalek Hitler, etc, evoke the redemption.

Further on he says: Nationality is also part of the rod of the “Jews’ troubles,” here too we see the redemption, but you cannot bless this Shofar.

“You cannot bless,” but it is also a Shofar…

The whole point is that we are in the world of Ein Sof, and we are the ones who determine how it will appear to us, which of its parts will seem “white” to us and which will seem “black.” So there is nothing to cry about. Ahmadinejad awakens us to reach the correction faster. In addition to that the global crisis pushes us. If it began in some distant place and has reached us, it means that we are lagging behind in our development, in our ability to present the method of correction to the nations of the world.

What is worse is that we subconsciously hope that as a result of the troubles they will understand us instead of having to run to them to explain in every possible way the solution to the problem. We don’t worry about it the way we should. There is a lot we have to do, but we act irresponsibly, not feeling that we are guilty of what is happening, and so the troubles are nearing us. It won’t be as people threaten, it will be much worse than that.
