In the News (from Astronomy.com): “Venus Express searching for life — on Earth” Scientists using European Space Agency’s (ESA) Venus Express are trying to observe whether Earth is habitable. Silly, you might think, when we know that Earth is richly stocked with life. In fact, far from being a pointless exercise, Venus Express is paving the way for an exciting new era in astronomy. One thing has become obvious from the study of Earth using Venus Express: determining whether a planet is habitable is not going to be easy. Although the observations may not tell us anything new about Earth, they will allow us to unveil far-off worlds, making them seem more real than simply dots of light.

My Comment: Science is not yet capable of making conclusions about life in the universe. We cannot even detect life on our planet… It’s possible only to determine whether there are certain conditions for life’s existence.

At a certain stage of man’s development, he becomes interested in the existence of life in the cosmos. However, as his attention (desire) grows, he aspires to search for that which is eternal and perfect, something higher than the corporeal, beyond the animate level of life. In other words, he aspires to the spiritual world.

At that point, the question of whether other forms of life are possible in the universe disappears, as it becomes replaced by the aspiration to attain the next level of development – the “human” level.

In the News (translated from RSCI): New research conducted at the Institute of Geography at the Russian Academy of Sciences shows that changes in the global climate that took place during the 20th century were due to natural causes. The Earth’s system continues to operate according to its natural laws and human society should consider the current global warming as a natural occurrence and not one caused by human activity.

My Comment: Everything comes from Above. The world is managed from Above and does not at all depend on what we do here on Earth. Everything depends on the goal that we have to reach – complete harmony between ourselves and the Creator, and how far we are relative to this goal.

We can influence the higher Management of this world only through the intention to become like It. In fact, everything that we perceive as negative events, forces or situations is part of the essence that motivates us internally and externally toward the attainment of the integral force of Nature.

A question I received: In terms of quantum physics, the universe consists of energy. Therefore everything, including thoughts, are also energy. Where do thoughts come from, and why/how does each individual think (attract) his own particular thoughts?

My Answer: There are two forces comprising everything in existence: reception and bestowal. Everything occurs between these two forces. We learn their nature by revealing them for ourselves, because we consist of both of them.

The interaction of these two forces gives rise to our desires, and the desires bring about thoughts of how to obtain what we desire. A person can influence his desires by consciously putting himself under the influence of an environment, meaning people or souls (provided one can already perceive the souls). This is how a person can intervene in his own destiny.

My Comment: Everything in Nature is perfect and interconnected. We, humans, are the only exception, and because we are imperfect, we are unable even to recognize the perfection in Nature. What looks like a struggle for power to us is actually a realization of the strict laws of Nature. Only man was created imperfect, and this was done on purpose, so he would study Nature (the Creator) and reach perfection of his own accord.

A question I received: I have a question. The movie Nights of Kabbalah showed how Kabbalists could predict the future. But this was in reference to the Kabbalists of the past. You also mentioned that now there are no teachers equal to Baal HaSulam.

However, I’ve heard someone say that there are people living today who have special powers and can change the physical world around them. For example, they can turn stones into sand, and they can be in several places at the same time. But these magic tricks are not their objective; their goal is to know the Creator.

They are able to do these things completely naturally, without any spells, esoteric practices or mysticism. So, with all due respect, I would like to know: how is it possible that Kabbalah is the only truth? How can it be that only Kabbalists know the whole truth?

My Answer: There are no miracles in this world. See Baal HaSulam’s article, “The Essence of the Wisdom of Kabbalah,” where he explains that Kabbalah is a science, which means that it is based on data that was attained and revealed through the method of experiment. You should also read “The Introduction to the Book of Zohar,” where it talks about the limits of attainment – that one can only attain matter and its form, but not the abstract form and the essence.

A question I received: Presently, the Big Bang theory is the most credible explanation physics has of how the universe was created. What does Kabbalah say about this?

My Answer: In the past, we were taught that the universe is infinite and eternal. Today, however, this seems naïve and is not a sufficient answer, for how can anyone who hasn’t attained these concepts speak about them?

Kabbalah can accept the statement that the universe appeared as a result of an explosion, or a breakthrough of the Upper Energy into our world, the lowest level of creation. That spark of Upper Energy gave rise to all matter, energy and information in our world, which then developed further.

In the science of Kabbalah we learn about how a spark of the Upper Degree breaks through to the lower degree. This is called an act of creation, or the appearance of existence from absence. This is how the next, lower level appears.

And it was the same process that brought our universe – the lowest of the worlds – into existence. However, we are unable to grasp how just one spark of Upper Energy can create everything. People were able to “guess” that this happened because this idea came to them “from God,” or “from Above,” even though it is contrary to our reason and assumptions. It’s just as “ridiculous” as the idea that the universe is infinite and eternal. We are simply asserting what the facts lead us to conclude.

Kabbalah agrees with the above theory, although science views it as a paradox.

In the News (from arxiv.org): “Testing the link between terrestrial climate change and Galactic spiral structure” We confront past suggestions of a close link between terrestrial climate change and the Sun’s transit of spiral arms in its path through the Milky Way galaxy. We use new information on spiral structure based on CO data that does not make simplifying assumptions about symmetry and circular rotation. Comparing the times of these transits to changes in the climate of Earth, not only do the claimed correlations disappear, but also we find that they cannot be resurrected for any reasonable pattern speed.

My Comment: All the changes that occur in Nature are influenced mainly by human behavior, or rather, by people’s thoughts and desires. The problem is that this influence is hidden from us and thus we erroneously focus on and measure our external influences, such as gas emissions and solid waste pollution.

However, even though the pollution on the Earth’s surface seems enormous, its influence on climate change is actually negligible. The greatest influence comes from our egoistic thoughts!

My Comment: This is determined by the spiritual root, where Zeir Anpin, or the male part of creation, is the source of the Light for the female part, his Malchut. And she awaits fulfillment from him.

A question I received: Why do you consider all sciences to be a consequence of the science of Kabbalah?

My Answer: Kabbalah originated 4,500 years ago in Ancient Babylon, and all the secular sciences originated from the science of Kabbalah. True science is a tool by which we attain Nature (or the Creator, which is the same thing). However, in regular, secular science, one attains His qualities egoistically, using one’s will to receive. In ordinary science, one attains the Creator within one’s earthly or materialistic desires.

On the other hand, if a person has the desire to understand the Creator, to attain His plan and the system through which He influences us, if one truly wishes to know Him and His actions and to reveal the deepest meaning of His acts, then to accomplish all this, one has to become like Him. And for that, one must have the desire to learn to bestow. In this case, that person is able to reveal the science that studies the Creator – the science of Kabbalah.

Everything in reality comes from the Creator and is attained within our desires. If a person’s desires have the intention of “for the sake of reception,” then he learns the ordinary, natural sciences, using the desires he was born with. But if his desires are similar to the Creator’s, then he uncovers the truth and understands the Creator’s actions. One attains this to the extent he is similar to Him. To the degree one is similar to Him, one attains His actions, intentions, desires, and His entire plan, as well as its realization.

A person attains all of this inside himelf, by means of equivalence of form with Him. This is how the science of Kabbalah enables one to see the Creator’s world, and is the reason why it is the only true science.
