Question: How do I free my heart of egoism so that the Creator reigns there?

Answer: We can’t do anything on our own—this should be clear to everyone. Of this it is written: “Turn to the Master that has made me!” Our work isn’t about correcting ourselves, but about studying the process of correction, realizing its necessity and our own corruption, and then asking for correction.

The “doctor for all the broken hearts” is the Creator, not us. Therefore, we need only to reveal our breaking, either via the study and unification or via the path of suffering. The latter would include the kind of bombardment that hit the south of Israel in recent days, the financial crisis throughout the world, and waves of unrest that have befallen many countries.

Any problems related to health, whether general or particular, down to the smallest one, all stem from a lack of correction. There is no other cause but this. And if we awaken from the lightest sting from Above and can advance thanks to it, we thank the Creator for such an awakening and don’t require stronger blows.

It is written that “the Creator carps at the righteous at a hair’s width.” This means that they take the tiniest problem, connect it to the root, and realize that it comes from Above. This sensitive approach to all incoming sensations is enough for them to begin the correction and advance.

But if we don’t pay attention to the small hints that get sent from Above, the scenario is like a mother that gently wants to teach something to her little child, but he doesn’t pay attention to her. She is forced to pressure him harder and harder, and sometimes even spank him, to get the right reaction out of him.

Indeed, the ego needs to be cautioned somehow so that it would hurt. And we need to add even a tiny bit of heartache from ourselves to compel us to be careful since we are working against our egoistic desire.

“Round vessels” are of great importance to us because they contain all the Light of the final correction. All the Light that we are still unable to accept, up to the very end of correction, exists in round spheres and pressures us from there. It takes care of us, reaches us as Light that Reforms, and serves as the Surrounding as well as Inner Lights.

We receive everything from round spheres. Our whole development occurs due to them because while I still lack a spiritual vessel (and we never have a vessel for the next degree), I am situated under the pressure of round spheres. The vessel is cleansed by the Surrounding Light, and this Light exists in round spheres.

For this reason, I experience discomfort; I am thrown from one place to another like in a magnetic field that attracts and pushes me away. After all, I am still unable to control myself and be filled with the help of the screen, the “line” (Kav). Therefore, the spheres affect me.

General governance of the world also occurs through round spheres. Hence, our world is called “round”: global or integral. The circle as if is closed here: The upper governance is revealed. And until we begin to perceive it through a screen, like “direct” influence, it is revealed from Above as a “round sphere” (Igulim), which saves us from doing foolish things and blowing up the world instead of reaching the goal that is assigned to us.

Round spheres control us until we are able to take control into our own hands by accepting it from the Creator. And then it will not be called “direct” from our side. To the extent that we accept governance and control of all creation from the Creator and begin to work, we will begin to build a straight line.

But today we are 100% controlled by the round spheres. There is just one tiny spark in each of us that is illuminated by the direct ray of Light (Kav Yashar).

A straight ray of Light comes through to us from Above through all the spheres and rouses a spark in us that summons us to begin working in this direct channel upward. And everything else remains under the control of round spheres. Therefore, the whole world, where we don’t feel this awakening in the point in the heart due to the direct ray of Light, exists in round spheres.

With the awakening of the point in the heart we receive an opportunity to unite “Israel, Torah, and the Creator” as one whole in that same direct line that comes to us through all the spheres. In this case, the round spheres also become different because as the line comes through them, it fills them and creates differences. Thus I begin to feel discomfort: I ask about the meaning of life and the essence of what is happening. I already feel some excitement from within and without.

The sages said: “Three reasons enhance man’s wisdom: a beautiful woman, a beautiful house, and beautiful vessels.” The “beautiful woman” is Malchut, who becomes so beautiful because I want to enter Shechina, the gathering of all souls, and connect with all others who seek to bestow.

The souls of the great Kabbalists of all times and generations, who have transformed themselves, and all who strive for correction are already there. Those like me are regarded as my friends, and those who are following me on the spiritual ladder and get help from me are called my disciples. Together, we want to belong in one common soul, Shechina, regarded as a “beautiful woman.”

A “beautiful house” and “beautiful vessels” are specific to the person who wants to correct his heart, all his desires; they     are Shechina’s particular organs. Every day, he connects with her to see what else he can deposit there because each particle is added onto the collective account.

So we advance, step by step, and above all, we must remain sensitive. Every day we are given new opportunities to approach bestowal, but not the “fuel,” awakening, which is done so that I would bring it out on my own. Otherwise, I would act like a puppet which turns around pulled by strings, that is, purely by instinct, like an animal.

But I was given free will to choose—the realization that I do not feel inspired and must nevertheless get up, without any desire to do so, and start the day, overcoming the heavy feeling: physical and emotional, confusion of the mind and other disturbances, unpleasant states, thoughts against bestowal and external problems. And I must give thanks for all these obstacles as for new states, over which I now need to choose my attitude towards Shechina, Malchut of the world of Atzilut that unifies all of the souls.

There, inside it, I want to live connected with everyone together and see the corrected humanity. And I want every day to be as new for me; that is, I want to carry over, yet again, every property so that each drop will be deposited in the joint, large account. And thus we ascend.

If a person works in this manner and seeks in all his personal states to come from “beautiful vessels” (desires) to a “beautiful house,”corrected heart, and reunite with the “beautiful woman,” Malchut of the world of Atzilut, then he combines all these three conditions and receives the upper mind. That is, he rises above his corrupt desire to receive pleasure—with the intent to bestow.

The holy Shechina is our intentions that we can transform above our broken desires.

To remain in spirituality forever means to agree that your ego will never be fulfilled. Presently we are at the very beginning of the spiritual path, and our desires to enjoy no longer find fulfillment. They will continue to empty more and more, until it becomes perfectly clear to us that we must rise above them.

We have no other choice. The entire preceding approach has exhausted itself; this whole game that was set in motion from Above to grow in us the desires of this world is over. We will now need to work on other types of desires. And we will soon see this phenomenon on the global scale.

We will feel a lack in everything in our egoistic desires: security, confidence, vitality, and hope for the future. At the same time, an opportunity will arise to connect to the Creator and to ask to adhere to Him.

And you turn to Him not in order to hide from the sensation of lack and emptiness since in that case, you would simply substitute a smaller fulfillment for a bigger one. Who wouldn’t want that? This is what usually happens when some blow befalls a person, and he immediately remembers the Creator and begins to pray.

Normally your animal body does not allow you to think about Him, but when it’s scared, it deploys you to the Creator for help. And you (the human in you) aspire to the Creator because your animal pushes you to Him. It is as if it says to you that it has nothing to eat and sends you to the Creator to ask for food. And you, the human, go and ask for your animal. This is how we live….

But if you, the human, aspire to the upper, not because you feel a lack in your regular fulfillment, but because you’ve begun to feel the importance of bestowal that the environment supplies you with, then you develop the spiritual desires over your empty personal desires. If you do it not because you want to fulfill yourself or profit in some way, that means you have achieved an inner revolution whereupon you begin to care for your spiritual vessel.

The mutual guarantee is when we all unite together in a way that everyone fulfills the desires of another. None of us can fulfill himself on his own—this is impossible in the spiritual world. I can only fulfill the desires of someone else, by 100%.

If I attain the world of Infinity, that means all the spiritual vessels (desires) are before me, and I fulfill them all with the Light of NaRaNHaY, which passes through me as an infinite Light that flows through me to others.

And I am left with the Light of Nefesh de Nefesh present in me at all times. The remaining Light passes through me and fulfills the external vessel that I have attached to myself. And this is what everyone does!

For me, the desires of another are “circular” (Igulim), meaning they are limitless. However, the form in which I fulfill them is a “straight line” (Kav Yashar), meaning this is the work with the screen. In this way I turn into an infinite “straight” desire if I fulfill the infinite “circular” desire of other people without any limitations on my end.

Personally I am limited in my ability to fulfill another, but I always perceive others as free of limitations. The limitation exists only in me—in how much I am capable of bestowing to them.

Question: It is written that inner work has to become a habit. But on the other hand, one has to leave one’s world and all of his previous habits, and enter an unknown place, the way the Creator sends Abraham off, or like crossing “the Red Sea.” How can I break through to this new path, because I feel that if I remain the way I am, I will stay in the same place?

Answer: This is a very wise observation. Habit is good for attaining the current level. But in order to rise above it, one must leave his land, the way Abraham did.
Leaving an old habit means wishing to acquire a new one. But we are always acquiring a new habit, a new nature, a new degree.

If I want to learn something, then I take an example from a specialist. To him, this science has become habitual, but for me—it hasn’t. He has a habitual understanding, attaining, and behavior, whereas I do not. But I want to become the same as he. That is why I have to leave behind my habits, which I acquired in the past and which I have on the current level. Once I finish mastering this level, I cleave to something higher.

However, when I do this in spirituality, I have to look at the inner behavior of the upper one, rather than the outer behavior. I won’t see anything by looking at the externality. I must somehow discern what I have to cleave to inside of him, what quality I have to reveal in him, how to use him in order to rise to his level and learn from him.

I have to demand for him to elevate me because I am held back by my old habits like by brakes. On one hand, they support me on my level, but on the other hand, they cling to me and don’t let me rise higher.

I have to receive a special force against these bonds, against the habits, which will pull me out. These habits are like the earth’s gravity, like a weight that does not allow me to tear away from the ground. If I weigh 100 pounds, then I need a force greater than this weight in order to elevate me. It has to be at least 101 pounds. Otherwise I won’t go up.

And the same thing happens in spirituality. I have to ask the upper one to apply a greater force to me than my current habits and force. These are very simple mechanics.

How can I ask Him to cancel my entire previous nature, which I have gotten so used to!? We are like little children who are so attached to their old blanket or pillow that they cling to it and don’t agree to let go of it for anything. That is why I need an environment to enable me to leave behind my dear habits and acquire something new, something higher!

It’s as if you are hearing an inner voice telling you, “Go forth from your land”—this is an awakening coming from Above. This is what the Creator says to Abraham. We are buried inside of our habits and are unable to even think about leaving them. Inside of my habits, I feel confident and better than ever. If a person feels any aspiration to leave his habits, this is coming to him from Above.

Changes are now required on the part of man. He must change himself internally, rather than changing anything outside of him. The systems that we built, economy, society, and education, were developed according to our growing egoism. But now it is time to stop because we have begun to develop internally in a way that does not accord with our growing egoism, but with the correct form of our ego, the form of bestowal, mutual connection.

Today, the world is revealing the spiritual form. It’s a miracle to see how humanity is acquiring the form of bestowal—total interconnection.

In the beginning, we became separated from each other. There was a breaking on the scale of the universal system, and as a result, no one was connected. But now the system has started to close and we are becoming more and more tightly connected with one another. This is called “the integral world.”

We are revealing the system that is showing us the corrected world. However, it is showing it to us from the outside, while we have to adjust ourselves to it on the inside.

In essence, this is the Creator, the Light being revealed to us! If we bring ourselves into harmony with this connection and universal globalization, and if our desires acquire the corrected form, then the Light will be revealed inside them.

We should try to understand that the old methods are no longer effective and there is nothing we can do with them. This must be acknowledged as a fact. Nothing will help unless we think about connection. There is no other way for us to correct this world.

We will not have any instruments to use in the economic system. Even in the army, the hero that wins does not do so by his own force. Nothing will work in our world besides the power of connection! The more we unite, the sooner we will succeed, and everything will work out in the world and in society, from the inside out.

We have reached the actual implementation of the method of correction, and we cannot escape it. Time obliges us to this.

Question: How do we prepare internally before going out to disseminate externally?

Answer: We must aspire to unity above all differences and chasms between us. I perceive certain people as completely antagonistic, others as hating me, and still others as distant in terms of their worldview, beliefs, and sensations. But I put a restriction on all of these feelings; I don’t use any of my negative responses. Instead, I want to build a feeling of connection and unity above it all.

It is written: “Love will cover all sins.” This means that the negative (–), the ego, all the transgressions, are below, and they are covered from above by the positive (+), which is love.

The difference or discrepancy between us creates a force of resistance and the ability to overcome, or to use Kabbalistic terms, the screen and the Reflected Light. It appears from the opposition of the two poles within me.

That is why we don’t eliminate our ego, but cover it with love. The sin remains—now we merely need to use the method of correction and add a screen.

Question: How can a person clarify his own purpose when studying?

Answer: When a person is not connected to a teacher, there is nothing he can do. He will go around in circles and will not attain anything. This happens from one generation to another. It was always required to spend many years listening to what the teacher said.

However, today time contracts, and we see changes happening around us with a constantly increasing speed. The same pertains to Kabbalah. A person who knows nothing about it now could become connected to the method of correction with his heart and soul in another month or two. Another couple of months after that, he could be thrown from a bad state to a good state and back.

However, no matter what, the method of correction must be revealed, and whoever has revealed it for himself wants to reveal it to the entire world. The ease of understanding and taking in the method depends on the size of the mass of people studying it.

They will simply suddenly feel from within that things are exactly the way that Kabbalah explains. What once required significant effort and strenuous thinking on behalf of a person until he came to see a certain image, it now will simply happen on its own.

It is similar to the way we see the young generation master modern technology. For example, even being a technology professional, I still have difficulty mastering new computer and phone features. I do it out of necessity, but I have no interest in it because I pertain to the past generation. I have to think strenuously and study the manual to use it, while a small child can take a cell phone, press the buttons, and call. He was born ready to use these toys.

They are new reincarnations of the souls, a revelation of a new desire that includes the records of the experiences of all the past lives (Reshimot). How things work is naturally clear to them. I have seen so many times the way young people do not even read manuals to use certain tools. They press some buttons and learn the way things work.

The method of Kabbalah needs to start being perceived in the same simple manner. Even though it seems to be separated from our corporeal life for being spiritual, it will still be revealed. Once it begins to spread through the masses, everyone will naturally understand that this is the way things are.

They will understand that if the evil of egoism is contained within us, it does not let us live. Then, we need to use the power of goodness, and if we play with goodness, we will attain it.

Today, people are protesting in the streets against a bad life, so let us place a good environment for them there. We should use this desire to exist and live in a new society, more connected and unified one, and people will begin to attract the Light that Reforms. If we also give them some Kabbalistic materials, everything will naturally become revealed to them.

Love can only be revealed to the extent of hate, as it is written: “The Creator has made them one against the other.” Beginning our spiritual path (from zero), we first descend to a given depth of the desire to enjoy (-1), then we ascend from it (+1). Then, once again, we descend even deeper (-2) in order to ascend even higher (+2), and so on.

Everything is built on the revelation of evil and turning it into good until all of the steps are realized. The place where we reveal our egoism and its transgressions to a greater and greater extent remains. It does not disappear, but we reveal the Mitzva (commandment) above it.

It is written: “The Creator has made them one against the other” and the “advantage of the Light is from the darkness.” That is why, even when we ascend all the 125 steps and reach the absolute good, the evil that has been revealed by us does not disappear. Otherwise, all of the Light would disappear as well.

We are created from matter opposite to Him. Desire created by the Creator is very tiny, like a small seed. Everything that we reveal in addition to this desire is only thanks to the intention.

First, we reveal our evil, the intention for the sake of ourselves. All of the good is accompanied by the intention for the sake of bestowal. All of development is built on the realization of our evil, our opposition to the Light. It is not the desire itself that is being developed, but the realization, the comprehension of it.

The ego being revealed is not the desire itself. The desire with which we live in this world, in and of itself, is not bad or good. It is neither condemned nor praised. Only the intention is important, which arises in me relative to others or the Creator (which is the same thing). It is what gives me the depth of desire (Aviut), not the desire to enjoy in itself.

It is necessary to separate one from the other, to carefully think it over and try to accept that we are constantly working on the intention, correcting our relationship to the desire and not the size of the desire itself. In other words, this work is not evaluated by quantity, but by quality.

It is written: “A transgression does not put out a commandment,” and a “commandment does not put out a transgression.” This is because both of them support one another. The evil does not disappear, and it is precisely on top of evil that we build all of the structure of good. This is because we are the creatures, and if our realization of evil and of who we are were to disappear, we would also have lost all of the good.

My “I” is built precisely opposite to the Creator: The more opposite I perceive myself, the higher I grow, and accordingly, I can give more to Him. In this case, I will have a demand, the sensation of the contrast between the Light and the darkness, which gives me a possibility to carry out great bestowal.

That is why we need to value the revelation of evil since it is solely by the virtue of the evil that we can reach the good.
