A Simple Choice

938.04Question: How can we sort our desires and intentions to be directed toward the Malchut of the world of Atzilut in all the states that come from the Creator? How do we make the choice, and what kind of choice is it?

Answer: The choice is very simple: the whole ten should unite.

When you connect with each other based on your common desire, common intention, common goal—everything you have—as one man with one heart,” then you begin to ask for it.

Questions about Spiritual Work—244

281.02Question: How can we prepare for the revelation of the shattering?

Answer: To the extent that we are connected with one another, we can delve into the study of the shattering between us and into its sensation. In this way, we can shorten our path to correction, meaning we can draw the shattering closer to us in order to correct it.

Question: The more we exert ourselves in the work, the more the world reveals its evil. How can we justify the Creator, that the world was originally corrected?

Answer: We still have to reveal that the world is initially corrected. Only then will we be able to reach the correct prayer—for closeness between us and with the Creator.

Question: In the ten, we feel unity among us, but between all the tens there is no sensation of merging into one Kli. How should we work with this shattering?

Answer: We need to work on this. To work means to connect despite the egoism that exists within each ten.

What Is the Foundation of Advancement?

528.01Question: If Baal HaSulam says that the shattering essentially did not exist, does this mean that the desire to receive for oneself also does not truly exist?

Answer: It exists, but not in a revealed form.

We need to understand that our advancement is based on the fact that we reveal our states relative to uncorrected Kelim, and we therefore feel increasingly shattered. In this way, our state depends solely on what we are searching for within our current state, what we desire to attain.

In principle, it turns out that we draw closer to the shattered Kli and then start to analyze it in parts.

From there, based on the shattering between the parts of the Kli, we raise a prayer to the Creator so that He would help us come together, recognize the separation between us, and clearly see our entire path .

What do We Need to Reveal to Unite More?

528.04Question: It is said that correction is only possible over the shattering. What kind of shattering should this be? What must we reveal in order to unite more?

Answer: We must reveal the very shattering in which we currently find ourselves. Only then will we be precisely aligned for its correction.

We need to understand what a corrected Kli is and what a corrupted Kli is, and compare the positive connection between the parts of a whole Kli and a shattered one.

Only then will we be able to feel within our own Kelim (our desires), what a shattered Kli and a corrected Kli truly are.

Then we will have a clear idea of what we need to ask of the Creator.

234Question: A person does not always feel. Sometimes one does, and other times one does not. What difference does it make if one’s work is accompanied by feelings, or if a person works out of confidence, without sensations?

Answer: Where does a person’s confidence come from in that case?

Question: From faith in the sages, from what they describe in their books, or from faith in the teacher.

Answer: What is written in the books says nothing. If I feel that I am in it, it means I have mastered this degree.

Let the Donkey Look Only at the Road

235Question: Why is the authority of the Creator experienced as some heavy burden that must be accepted with effort, as a yoke?

Answer: Because the authority of bestowal is directed against our will, against our ego. That is why we perceive it as a heavy load, as a burden.

First and foremost, I need to organize a routine for myself, one that becomes a framework, a burden so that I work “like an ox to the burden and a donkey to the load.” I must understand that this work is unpleasant to my “donkey” (desire—Homer, donkey—Hamor). I treat my nature like a donkey, over which I, as the master, want to place a burden, a yoke that restrains it and forces this force—the “ox” or “donkey” to work.

I cover its eyes with blinders, give it food, I create both restrictions and fulfillments in order to compel it to perform the actions I need. In this way, I am not killing or punishing it, but working with my natural inclination in a deliberate, goal-oriented manner.

I am not the one who makes the corrections, the light does. I only carry out all the preparations so that my “donkey” will do its job exactly as needed, so that the light can influence it. That is why I bring in my control: reins, a yoke, a bridle. Most importantly, I blind its eyes so that it will not be distracted by anything irrelevant to the straight path, and so it sees only the road ahead.

This is what it means to place a load on the donkey. But I do all this for its own benefit! Because afterward, as it is said: “The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master’s trough.” It is in these desires, corrected with the right intention, that we eventually receive fulfillment.

A Wire Stretched to Us from the World of Infinity

921A good environment consists of the Rav and the friends. If a student does not adhere to the teacher like the lower’s GE (Galgalta ve Eynaim) to the upper’s AHP, if one does not annul oneself in one’s most refined point, which one has discovered within oneself, the point in the heart, and does not attach this point to the teacher, meaning to the teacher’s views and spirit, then one has no place from which to receive the spirit of life. The person will lack the force that develops the Reshimo, the spiritual gene.

This matter is very straightforward: either there is such a connection or there isn’t. And much of it depends on help from above and spiritual luck. It is determined, not by external circumstances, but by the internal efforts made by a person, along with various factors related to the root of one’s soul and the judgment that this soul is going through.

If there is no connection with the teacher, then, as it is written in Shamati 25, “Things that Come from the Heart,” As long as he has no power to sentence the world to the side of merit, they subdue him, he mingles with their desires, and he is led like sheep to the slaughter. He has no choice; he is compelled to think, want, crave, and demand everything that the majority demands.

There is nothing a person can do against this. Even if he is physically close to the teacher, who is like the end of a spiritual conduit for him that descends from the world of infinity through the chain of Kabbalists, if he doesn’t connect to this pipeline, he receives no spiritual nourishment and therefore he does not develop.

In the past there were cases where a teacher would raise a single student. But in general, the teacher tends to his students through the group, connecting to its center.

The group, for the teacher, is the lower spiritual entity. The student who can connect to the center of the group, after having fulfilled two essential conditions of annulment in relation to the group and connection with the friends, will be able to connect to the teacher through that center.

The teacher is called Rav (great) because he is the upper Partzuf, the upper degree, in relation to the students. To the extent that a student annuls himself toward the group’s center, he receives, via the connection with the others, a vessel into which he can absorb the teacher’s thought and spiritual attainment.

But this annulment must be total from the depth of the heart and soul in everything that pertains to the spiritual path and authority over one’s egoism.

Clarification Between Holiness and Klipa

259.01Question: Are we capable of performing a clarification between holiness and Klipa? Or is our work to attract the Creator into this clarification?

Answer: We must always involve the Creator; otherwise, we will not be able to feel correctly where we are, what direction we are heading, or what is influencing us.

That is, without the Creator’s force in the midst of our forces, showing us what is better and what is worse, and how to separate one set of Kelim from another, we will not be able to clarify who we are, what we are made of, or what we truly want to attain.
