Open the Door into the Future

944To open the lock to the Creator with the whole ten means to achieve the closest connection of hearts, when everyone puts their whole heart into it. This common heart will become the key that opens the lock.

Each of us is just a part of the key. The mechanism of the lock and key must interact and influence each other in order to open the door the Creator is behind.

At the world congress, everyone who wants to engage in spiritual work will have the opportunity to open their hearts and connect with other friends from all over the world to realize this together.

Awe of heaven is my fear: will I be able to insert the key into the lock so it corresponds to all lock forms at all levels (inanimate, vegetative, animate, human)? I will turn the lock so everyone would see themselves conform to the advanced state, and the door will open.

Awe of heaven is the connection that exists between me and the Creator. The more I feel the awe, adjust  my key to the shape of the lock, and turn it, the more I connect with the Creator.

According to the forms I create in the key, the lock begins to open for me with this key. I hope the joint preparations for the congress will allow us to get closer, connect, and find the right shape of the lock and key in our connection, in a common embrace, thanks to mutual help and support. The ideal state at the congress is when absolutely everyone, without exception, participates in the common effort to open the lock.

The key is striving for the future, which everyone imagines a little differently. After all, not everyone is in the right state; in some way everyone’s state is incorrect. Therefore, one connects in the common key, wants to push himself and turn in the direction to the point where the lock opens.

A person alone cannot open the lock; we need to unite all our desires to achieve this. A congress provides the opportunity to complement each other by bringing all aspirations together. And then we will feel there is one common key, and with the help of prayer, we can reveal it.

What Are We Coming to the Convention With?

938.03Question: With what mindset do we come to the convention, in what kind of unity, and what should we achieve as an individual group and as Bnei Baruch?

Answer: The main focus of the group’s work is preparing for the convention.

This means seeing the current state of our Kli, that in which we exist at the moment, meaning in Lo Lishma, and seeing how to gradually transform these qualities into Lishma.

This, in fact, is our preparation for the convention.

Convention—Ready to Roll!

595.03We must remember that we are all in the same boat and are parts of one soul.

That is why when such a large number of people striving for spirituality gather together, as at the upcoming convention, each person must understand that this is a gift from above. The Creator has given me the opportunity to participate in such a special event where parts of my own soul come closer to me.

And if I relate to them this way, understanding that I have found myself in an assembly of the closest souls ready to connect with me, and if each of us thinks and feels this way, then it will not be difficult at all!

Everything depends on preparation. I must constantly prepare myself and tune in to think, act, and feel exactly this way when I get there.

It does not matter whether it happens today in one place or tomorrow in another, time and space determine nothing! But this exercise, where I intentionally think today about how it will be tomorrow, will help me later when all the conditions come together at the convention to reach the necessary collective effort.

This is extremely important and determines everything. After that, it will be easy. It is like preparation before a battle.

If everything is ready, and you are ready to give everything for spirituality, you will see how everything unfolds exactly as you envisioned. If you have put in sincere and great efforts from the depths of your heart, everything will happen accordingly. There will be no unpleasant surprises, everything will be good.

Imagine a gang of thieves gathering in the dark, preparing for a dangerous mission to rob a bank. Each of them feels dependent on the others and cares about the group. We have something to learn from them.

The only difference is the goal. If the goal is egoistic and obvious, achieving unity is very easy and natural.

But if the goal is to attain bestowal, to rise above each person’s personal egoistic interests, then it becomes much harder.

Yet, even in examples of our world, we see the immense benefit that unity brings. The only problem is that nothing can sustain it except the upper light. Only love can hold a connection together.

When the Inspiration Wears Off

252Question: At conventions we are given strength that must be realized afterward, otherwise it will dissolve. What does this mean?

Answer: At the convention we achieve a certain connection with each other, and for the sake of that connection, we are ready to sacrifice some small egoistic fulfillments, pleasures, and weaknesses in this life. We are ready to give ourselves to achieve something higher.

Subsequently inspiration fades because the connection between us disintegrates. We cannot keep it from a distance.

We are small people. Everyone returns to their old ways, and, as a result, we lose mutual strength, plunge into our philistinism, and can no longer think so intensely about spiritual elevation, correction, the meaning of life, or how to really achieve it here and now.

So it turns out that we need some kind of constant connection, maybe not as intense as at conventions, but one which would excite, tug, prick us more intensely because we only occasionally remember and ask ourselves: “What will become of us?” We need to restore this connection somehow.

A Good Exercise

943Comment: I have heard from different people that when they listen to Kabbalah they are fascinated by it. But when they encounter songs and dancing, a problem arises.

My Response: The thing is that they still have a strong inner rejection of connection with others.

Let us say I come out and say to them: “Dear friends, let us remember kindergarten, how you were little children, how the teacher would gather you in a circle, lead you in a round dance, and you would sing together. Let us pretend to be small again; let’s not act so smart. We have a common song that expresses our heartfelt desires. Let’s try it.”

And those who do not want to participate, let them try anyway and see how much they have grown into egoists, so-called intellectuals who cannot humble themselves before others and think, “Why should I be with them? Why should I unite? I am not like them! I am above this.”

This is their ego speaking and resisting their spiritual elevation. Let them feel it fully. In truth, the ego is speaking correctly.

So a person walks among us and suffers, but at the same time analyzes their feelings. And that is wonderful! In just a few rounds of dancing and singing, they will go through a profound spiritual analysis.
This is our work! Throughout the convention, people go through exactly this process. Some enjoy it, while others suffer. And for them this is a good exercise.

Question: So for most people is the entire convention suffering, a fight with oneself?

Answer: Yes, of course. And that is the beauty of it! That is where the true wealth lies of all sorts of qualities and self-exploration: “How do I perceive everything? How do I move? How can I push myself and humble myself before others for the sake of the goal? Am I really me or is this just my ego? Let me step aside from it; let it suffer. That is what it was created for, so that I can correct it by force.”

And so I deliberately put myself in this circle; I deliberately dance among my friends, and with all my strength I try to be like them. I do not suppress my inner resistance. Rather, I study it. I want to be together with it.

A Magnet to Which Others Will Be Attracted

944Baal HaSulam, in the “Introduction to The Book of Zohar,” writes that first and foremost, we must achieve a deep internal spiritual connection with one another in order to form a common vessel, a collective soul, in which the upper force can be revealed. Then, through the presence of this upper force within us, we will draw the rest of the world toward us.

If we rely on what we understand from the sources, our task is to elevate ourselves within this unified force, toward a common goal, toward attainment and the revelation of the Creator. The world will follow naturally, although we should not neglect dissemination.

Here, we can use a very interesting example. When you fly on an airplane, you are shown a safety video explaining how to act in an emergency. If you are traveling with a child, you must first put on your own oxygen mask and life vest before assisting the child.

Now, imagine that the plane is in a nosedive, and the flight attendant urgently instructs passengers to put on their masks and vests, emphasizing that they must first take care of themselves. Yet your natural instinct is to help the small child next to you, how can you possibly think of yourself first? Instinctively, you rush to protect the child.

Are the airlines correct in enforcing this rule? The answer is absolutely yes. If you are not alive, who will take care of the child?

Therefore, you must take care of yourself first. This is the strict order of correction. If there is no rescuer, then the drowning person will certainly perish. But if the rescuer is alive and has all the necessary means, they have the ability to save others.

Thus, after establishing a certain connection between ourselves and the world with our methodology, books, films, the Internet, and everything else we have created, our next step is to seriously elevate ourselves so that all the points in the heart unite and form a single, strong spiritual Kli (vessel). This Kli will become the magnet that draws others in. They will find us because we are already present in the global media with our materials.

Let’s Dance

938.02Question: If you disseminate certain visual things to the whole world, such as dancing, they can reject a person a little. There are some dances that are incomprehensible to people.

Answer: There is no dancing at all in Kabbalah. The fact that people hold hands and dance in a circle is the most popular among all nations because this is how connection naturally manifests itself. It has nothing to do with any national or Kabbalistic peculiarities.

I personally do not see myself in it. Singing—yes. It depends on the songs: with deep content, when everyone sings together, it helps to connect thoughts, hearts, and desires. But dancing? It depends on how it is done. If dancing is some kind of general movement, if it goes in rhythm with the flow of inner thoughts, then yes.

When people hold hands, it is also natural because shaking hands is an expression of inner motives. If the movement comes from within people, it will not seem strange or artificial to anyone, and everyone will accept it as a manifestation of their inner feelings.

This often happens at our congresses, when thousands of people from dozens of countries gather, and it all seems natural to them.

If a person sees African or Indian dances for the first time, they may seem strange and unusual to him. I would say it is not the case here. These are universal movements. When people from many countries hold hands, dance in a circle (a circle is the epitome of equality), follow a common movement, sing a familiar song, and utter words expressing their aspirations I do not think it looks strange. It might be in the middle of Broadway or Tverskaya. But if it comes from within people, and such actions are accepted in our global culture, they cannot be misunderstood.

In all kindergartens worldwide, the teacher tells the children: “Hold hands, stand in a circle, start walking and singing.” Such human expression, when they play and express something together, is the most natural thing. These actions are not planned. They appear spontaneously.

Let’s Pounce on the Congress Like a Pack of Wolves

942We are on the way to a convention, and the main goal now is to awaken a deep, urgent need for it even before we come to it. To achieve this, we must strengthen our connection and unite in our desire so that we can approach the convention with the same intensity as a pack of wolves pouncing on their prey and tearing it apart. This is how we need to prepare ourselves for the convention.

I want to integrate myself among all the participants of the convention with my desire and, together with everyone, extract everything that it contains. Each of us will seize their portion of the prey from the convention and understand that this is precisely why they came. Both men and women will take part in this action.

We want to unite around the topic of the convention and sink our teeth into it to draw life force from it. Each of us must grip it with all their strength because if we act modestly and yield it to one another, it will belong to no one. I must seize my portion myself, but not consume it for my own sake, but rather, pass it on to the Creator.

The force of true faith can only be drawn from the source of faith where we all unite, and each person gives the portion of prey they have captured to others, and in this way, we all share it between us.
