What Gives a Person the Power of Life?
Question: What is a “correct Hisaron” (lack of fulfillment)? Does it mean that a person feels bad?
Answer: No, a Hisaron can also feel good. When a person does not understand where something comes from and what it is, when he does not see the causes and consequences, the reasons, then of course it is bad. However, in general, if not that, then it is good to have a Hisaron.
There is no such notion as “bad” in Kabbalah. Everything depends on how you use it.
Imagine a person without a desire—that is it, he is dead. Look at how many people are depressed, how they suffer.
At the same time, people who have nothing, but their eyes are shining and the desired thing is ahead of them, this gives them a power of life. Do you think a person who has inner creativity would trade his “burning” for some mediocrity so he would just lie around doing nothing? No.
Thus, a lack, a sensation of aspiration and desire, when a goal is present, is always positive. When the goal is unknown, when you do not know what and how, then it eats you. This is bad. However, it is still better than callousness and indifference.
