Comment: The feeling that the Creator helps me seems to cancel my sense of “I.”

My Response: No, this is incorrect. Today you think you are a “macho” man: “What Creator? Why do I need Him? Am I supposed to ask Him for something?” A small child reasons this way. We are all small children, not you alone.

Men tend to have this. A man thinks: “How can it be that someone is stronger than me? I must reveal a force greater than me, one that decides everything, does everything with me, and puts everything into me?!” Women are different. They have a readiness for this, and therefore a woman is not obligated to perform the commandments or undergo such direct corrections as a man.

For men, everything proceeds from the point: “I will rule.” This is the entire force of the shattering, the whole essence of the desire to receive.

From this, we can understand what we must attain. I must come to joint action with the others on the path toward humility, on the path toward love. But this happens gradually: first, one annuls oneself, and then enters into connection with the Creator. Not in the sense that I immediately enter into contact with Him, saying, “Let us unite and be partners,” but in the sense that, through the process of development, a person feels how he annuls his “I” before the Creator.
