There is nothing bad in the world. Without the serpent’s bite, i.e., without our egoism, which has suddenly surfaced and started to manifest itself, we would not run forward, we would simply remain animals in our world and would never be able to escape it.

We would have neither desire nor opportunities. This is why it is said: “For God knows that on the day that you eat thereof, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like angels, knowing good and evil.”

In other words, the serpent clearly does its job and is devoted to the Creator in everything. It is said that Adam and Eve’s eyes were opened through the serpent. “Your eyes will be opened,” they saw that they were naked, that practically they had nothing but a lofty goal. And although it is far away, it is beautiful.

This is why they need to become clothed, that is, to acquire new properties—properties of bestowal and love for their neighbor. This is called “dressing” yourself, your egoism. That is, the egoism is inside, and they correct it. By using garments, they make it similar to the Creator and rise, as the serpent predicted: “…and you will be like angels, knowing good and evil.”

Thus, with the help of the serpent, they revealed the great goal they must come to.
