Torah, Deuteronomy 19:07 – 19:09: Therefore, I command you, saying, “You shall separate for yourself three cities.” And when the Lord, your God, expands your boundary, as He swore to your forefathers, and He gives you all the land of which He spoke to give to your forefathers; if you will keep all this commandment to perform it, which I command you this day, to love the Lord, your God, and to walk in His ways all the days, you shall add three more cities for yourself, in addition to these three.
If a person keeps all the commandments, then he will have more problems, because a bigger egoism will be revealed in him, meaning even more unintentional desires—killers of his soul, for which three additional cities of refuge must be opened.
In principle, what do we reveal in ourselves? Desires that are against spirituality and kill a man in us.
The illumination of the greater Light is a very kind and great deed of the Creator when we begin to reveal in us such desires that we wouldn’t be able to identify as egoistic in any other way. They would have stayed hidden in us. Therefore, by revealing them, we advance faster.
